Travel / Re: Is Relocating To Namibia Worth It As A Nigerian? by beautifultz: 8:44pm On Oct 23, 2019
enh no big deal nah.what has the Nigerian citizenship offered the Op?Its better to be a citizen of Togo than to be a citizen of Nigeria.
optimusprime2:
Well, not like I would say Namibia is the best of places to relocate to in Africa on a long term basis, especially when compared to other African countries within Namibia's Geographic Radius,
But if you stayed there long enough to Naturalize, Namibian Citizenship is not a bad Idea, as their passport can get you places e.g Canada, Brazil and UK would Grant you Visa's upon entry for 6months... Now that's pretty decent just that... Namibian constitution does not permit dual citizenry.

i am sure u enjoyed your stay in tanzania...most especially the beautiful curvy babes...lol... and yeah kiswahili is widely spoken but the new generation tanzanians are picking up english...
ihesiuloa:

Hahaha, the part you said 'thank God Singapore don't collect bribe' got me laughing!.. Well I guess that was my story anyways, I went back to dar es Salam spent the remaining days with the new friends I met in the program I went for, I met a very nice lady who became my girlfriend as at that time she kept me company throughout my remaining days in Tanzania even though she couldn't speak English fluently but we understood ourselves very well, kiswahili is there regular day to day language in Tanzania.
Travel / Re: My experience in lunga Lunga (kenya-tanzania border) by beautifultz: 1:41am On Aug 13, 2019
Same thing happened to me in 2014...i flew to kampala uganda for a short visit, stayed for a week and then decided to travel to kenya by road...On getting to the border, the immigration officer just saw my Ecowas passport and said hey you Nigerian go back i am not giving you a visa...i just had to laugh so loud that he heard and was really wondering why i would laugh despite his refusal to give me a visa...i just kept that smile on my face and acted like i didnt even hear what he said and stayed on the line till it got to my turn.
My turn came,i dashed in my passport into the counter still smiling and he still insisted on not giving me a visa on arrival...I boldly said and spoke like a real naija guy "OGA OPEN THAT PASSPORT AND STAMP ME IN JARE"he opened it and saw a kenyan visa i had gotten at the embassy in dar es salaam bfor my trip cos i knew they wld wana extort me...He looked and felt so ashamed and embarrassed that he was even trying to give me like 4 days and i was like" oga i am spending just a day cos i'm headed to mombasa to take a bus to Tanga...Those kenyan immigration officials are thieves
ihesiuloa:
Hello fellow nairalanders I was moved and encouraged by chimauga's odeal he suffered in the hands of the indonesian immigration authorities to share my experience back in 2014 the story thus goes like this :
On September 10th of 2014 I boarded an Ethiopia airline for a master class program in the capital city dar es Salam (Tanzania) although the program was scheduled for both dar es Salam and the coastal city Mombasa (Kenya) but mombasa was later canceled, however, i logded in hotels in (morogoro) area which is an outskirts of the capital dar es Salam my first hotel was Sawe hotel paying (24000 Tz shillings) with full a/c, dstv, comfortable and spacious room/ per day and suprisenly was less than 3k in naira and I was to spend 14 days on the trip and I had already made my hotel itineraries for dar es Salam and (Zanziba Islands) a colony island off the coast of Tanzania and I had also planned to visit (Kenya) to meet up with my friend whom I had promised to that I would visit.
After the 4 days intensive master class program I was now free to browse around the city of dar es Salam which I later found to be quite interesting, I visited quite a number of places which included (kariakoo) I also visited (mikumi national park) I ate lots of assorted meat, drank there popular beer called (kilimanjaro beer) for about 2000 shillings (less than #200) at that time quite cheap if you ask me! I ate (ughali) this is a kind of semovita eating with raw tomatoes, onions and roasted meat which is popular in Tanzania, I then further went to (posta) which is like our own Victoria Island or ikoyi to book for a speed ferry tour which is also called (kilimanjaro) my tour agent in (posta) made a conbine tour for me which included visiting (Zanziba Islands) by ferry (the kilimanjaro) for a few days and subsequently traveling by road to mombasa (Kenya)
I had a great stay in zanziba islands it was wow! Nice Cristal clear sea you would expect to see in zanziba with warm and lovely people, after the few days I left zanziba very early in the morning back to (posta) in dar es Salam to board the bus heading for mombasa Kenya, we waited for the passengers to full up the bus which included Africans and Europeans alike, we left posta at about 7:30 am to begin a journey that would take almost 8 hours by road to get to (Lunga Lunga).
Now, (Lunga Lunga) is the Kenyan side of the border while (Horohoro) is the Tanzanian side of the border hence, it is called horohoro/lunga lunga border.
We all came out from the air conditioned luxurious bus in the horohoro side of the border to get our passports stamped by the Tanzanian immigration authorities, after stamping our passports we then walk to the lunga lunga Kenyan side of the border to be attended to by the immigration authorities there, meanwhile at the course of the journey from posta I noticed that I was the only Nigerian in that bus other nationals were few European but mostly Tanzanians and Kenyans.
When it got to my turn to present my passport immediately one of the Kenyan immigration officers on sighting the green ECOWAS passport in my hand collected it and took it to there superior officer, he later came back and told me that I could not enter Kenya! At this point my bus driver with other passengers were waiting for me to join them, so I asked the immigration officer Why can't I pass to Kenya? My documents were complete and intact, I even had with me my yellow card! Remember! This was in 2014 at the time when Ebola was still ravaging in west Africa I now began to wonder could it be the reason for the refusal?! So I asked the officer again but he told me they won't allow me to pass but I could go ahead and see there superior officer in his office so I went in to see the officer and demanded to know what the problem was? He then asked me why didn't I go by air? And my answer was that I loved sight seeing hence I opted for the roads, I then asked him is it because of the Ebola case in west Africa that has prompted the refusal? He said No, but then told me if I wanted to pass I should pay him USD 200 as against the USD 50 official visa fee stamp! I then asked him why should I pay such an amount? He became angry and asked me to leave his office, in any case, I told him to his face that it was an extortion he wanted against me and I would rather go back to tanzania than to pay any thing more than USD 50 being the official visa crossing fees, i came out of his office then told the waiting driver of the luxury bus to continue the journey without me, at this time it was pass 5pm so I boarded another bus coming from Kenya to (tanga) a small city about 3 hours from horororo and lodge there for the night before embarking back to dar es Salam.

BACK TO WHERE I STOPPED.
Tanzanians are really accommodating and welcoming as they always make you feel at home.
You can melt their hearts if you can speak Swahili as they love it when foreigners speak Swahili which isn't a difficult language at all only if you put your mind to it.
I cannot forget to also state that they have really beautiful women.if you are not careful my brothers una go lost for here o.
They come in different colors, shapes and sizes.

TRANSPORTATION
There are so many means of transportation here which are,DALADALA(like coaster bus but extremely cheap),BRT,bajaji(keke napep)BODA BODA(okada),uber, bolt and private cars.
Cars are really cheap here as you can get a very compact car for as low as 6-7millionTsh.
well for me,i would say life here is just cool, peaceful and quiet if you have stuff to do that generates income for you.
Its also a wonderful destination for a vacation if you love nature alot as they have alot of islands and beaches too...
Feel free to ask questions anytime...

Catch yall later...

oh yeah it is cheap.
Infact the cheapest and most common food here is CHIPS MAYAI(chips and egg).every corner u go to you must see a stand where they sell chips with eggs or chicken and sausages or however u like it.
as for house rent it depends on the location you wish to stay in dar es salaam.some places u pay as low as 150000Tsh-250000tsh per month depending on the kind of house u looking for.you can get as much as 400000tsh-700000tsh(Tanzanian shillings) per month.
i traveled here by air.
i studied at University of dar es salaam and yes they have masters programs there.
you can check www.udsm.ac.tz and yes you can apply from Nigeria.
RealityShot:
cool..
150N per plate... Hmm...

OK.. What about house rent?

How did you travel to the place? Air, land/sea?

Which university; do they do masters ; how can one apply from Nigeria?

Thank you

Travel / Re: Travel To Tanzania by beautifultz: 4:03am On Aug 08, 2019
You have read correctly.they have changed the visa system for Nigerians.
You cant blame them, our Nigerian brothers are always messing things and places up every time.
They had to stop issuing visas on arrival to Nigerians cos most of our brothers were coming in with Drugs and overstaying their visas so they had to come up with a better way of reducing and keeping tabs on our Nigerian visitors.
Lookandlaugh:

Fantastic write up,I would like to ask you some of these questions,1)I would love to visit Tanzania for a holiday,as you know, its very difficult for a Nigerian to visit Tanzania, because of the condition attached for any Nigerian that wants to visit.
Nigeria is among the countries that needs referral(Visa Application for Referral Cases
There are two modalities of application for Referral Visa Applicants. The first one, which is recommended, is for applicants to seek permission clearance first, through their host in Tanzania. In this case, the host submits the request letter detailing the reasons and duration of stay of the visitor, to the commissioner General of immigration, or the commissioner of Zanzibar, if the applicant wishes to visit Zanzibar. In this modality, the applicant while applying Online will attach his photo (passport size), Passport/Travel Document (biographic data page) and a permission letter granted. His application will be processed within five working days) before we can apply for the Tanzanian evisa, that makes it difficult for a Nigerian to apply for the evisa. And secondly the tanzania embassy in Nigeria no longer issue visa to people again, all Nigerian are advised to apply for the evisa online. It is written on their Embassy website in Nigeria.
In this situation what do you think a Nigerian that wants to visit Tanzania as a tourist should do.
In addition, what legal business do you think can be done between Nigeria and Tanzania, for example exporting Goods and Services to Tanzania from Nigeria.

quote author=beautifultz post=80963369]Its really funny how Nigerians speak ill of other countries that are actually doing better than us in every aspect...
we keep deceiving ourselves that we are the giants of Africa but we honestly Dont have anything but our music, billionaires and corruption to show for it.
I used to think that way too till i started travelling.
Tanzania is a very beautiful and peaceful country, home to the highest peak in Africa, largest migration of wildebeest from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara, home to a lot of game reserves, beautiful lakes and all.
I cannot but emphasize on how beautiful and peaceful Tanzania is.
I have also had the opportunity to travel around the country to different regions like the beautiful island of Zanzibar,Arusha,Singida,Mtwara where our Dangote established his cement plant,Moshi,Tanga,Dodoma which is the capital,Morogoro and a host of other smaller cities.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Talk about infrastructural development they are doing a really great job building rail lines that will run from some major regions and also through neighboring countries like Uganda,Rwanda and Kenya to boost trade as the Dar es salaam port serves almost all the landlocked countries in that region.
They also have a very good road network that even takes you to those aforementioned countries(i mean there are no potholes here).
living here legally has also given me easy access to countries like Southafrica,Kenya,Uganda,Rwanda,Zambia,Malawi,Egypt,Morocco and Ethiopia as getting visas to these countries are as easy as ABC as compared to what we face in Nigeria.
They recently just opened the Julius Nyerere terminal 3 airport recently built with "tax payers money" and the airport will serve as much as 6 million visitors annually and let me also state that they make use of technology a lot here too as they have a really nice system that works in their banking, telecoms and other sectors hence generating a lot of revenue.

THE ECONOMY
The economy is based on 3 major things agriculture, tourism and mining which excites the interest of alot of investors.
There is also abundance of natural gas here hence the constant electricity they generate using natural gas.
Food is really cheap here and so are other basic needs.
In general, for me,living in Tanzania is cheaper and more cost efficient than living in Nigeria as a whole.
There is constant electricity so you Dont even have to bother about any of that.

As for getting a JOB here it is always difficult but very possible as the government insists on employers employing qualified Tanzanians before looking elsewhere.
There are lots of businesses one can do only if you have the right funds to invest in your business.

I have to go off now i'l come shed more light on my experience so far in this beautiful but very peaceful country...

Depends on what you are selling.if its your own business you can make as much as you can provided you have a very good price.

As for coming here,i really dont know what route best suits you as i have been here for over 10years.
i came in as a student, got my degree then was lucky to get a Job in a company owned by a Nigerian.

you can get a plate of rice for as low as 1000Tsh

What is the average pay for salesman and how easy it to get jobs like that?

How do I join you there - route, costs etc.

What is the price of a plate of rice in a local restaurant /food seller?

What is the price of a self contained /studio apartment?

Thank you

P. S:
6,350.28 Tanzanian Shilling = 1,000 Nigerian Naira
