Oh right, well... w3schools and the likes are geared towards giving a newbie basic knowledge and writing safe codes in short time. But there's more to those languages than those sites let on. Its the reason i always pick books over online tutoring.
As regards, comprehensivenes, every author teaches various ways of using a language. Thats why i have many ebooks and practise as i read.
as a recommendation, read Beginning PHP 6, Apache, MySQL web development(www.nettech.in/e-books/PHP-Apache-MySQL-Web-Development.pdf) its about 13mb in size. Also Beginning MySQL(edc.tversu.ru/elib/inf/0147.pdf) it's about 12mb. but download a local server app like xampp from www.apachefriends.org/download.html if you're using windows.

Hello.
No you don't need to memorize anything. The knowledge becomes ingrained in you overtime as you practise. But proceed with building the site now and refer to the tutorial as necessary. When stuck with a problem, consult search engines - my favourite is Google.
Note that all popular sites are dynamic websites. And no, you don't need to learn Javascript but you must learn a server-side programming language and a Relational Database Management to be able to build a dynamic website (both considerations are jointly referred to as back-end programming).
PHP is a popular and 'hugely' supported language for your back-end programming. If you choose PHP, then MySQL will be an ideal choice of database system because it integrates well with PHP.
Your choice of language(French, Chinese or Yoruba) doesn't matter in hosting.
Don't get drawn into the war of "the best programming language". There's no such thing because each language has its flaws and advantages which are borne out of its complexities and uniqueness.

Hello webmasters and others i have started learning HTML5 and CSS3, i finished reading the steps but my problem is, must i memorize everything or can i continue with the website building so that whenever i could not do something,can refer to the HTML and CSS tutorials, which one is better?

The emerging reality within the ruling All Progressives Con­gress (APC) is an intriguing one. The arrowheads of the par­ty, President Muhammadu Buhari, and Bola Tinubu, appear to be working at cross purposes. The romance between them appears to be fading too fast.

We have a telling instance onour hands. The race for the emergence of the leader­ship of the National Assembly is a ready reference point.

What is the issue here? Two fellows – Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara- have, against the wish of the national leader­ship of the APC, emerged as President of the Senate and Speaker ofthe House of Representatives, respectively. The party, we were told, held a mock election over the weekend where Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila were tipped to emerge as Senate President and House Speaker, respectively. However, the party’s choice was repudiated by a sizable majority of members of bothchambers of the National Assembly. They threw the party’s position overboard and went ahead to see to the emergence of Saraki and Dogara on the floor of the Senate and the House.

The lawmakers of opposite tendency, who saw to the emergence of Saraki and Dogara, did not stop there. They also made it possible for a member of the op­position Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ike Ekweremadu, to emerge as Deputy President of the Senate.

The ruling party, obviously thrown into blue funk by the development, is raking up muck. The national leadership, goaded on by Bola Tinubu, has thrown its hat into the ring. It is set to do battle with those it has described as treacherous lawmak­ers within its fold. The leadership has describedwhat Saraki and Dogara havedone as the height of indiscipline. It has vowed to invoke the supremacy of the party against them.

But there is a snag. President Buhari does not share their sentiments. He has, contrary to Tinubu’s position, accepted the emergence of Saraki and Dogara and has expressed willingness to work with them. Unlike the Tinubu tendency within APC, which believes that leaders of the National Assembly must be anointed by the bigwigs of the party, Buhari’s position, at least, on the surface, is that members of the National Assembly should beallowed to choose their principal officers. These differing tendencies have automatically introduced a divide within the APC.

Indeed, what transpired this Tuesday was no happenstance. The plot looks properly choreographed. Buhari, the leader of the party, was scheduled to hold a reconciliatory meeting with the opposing tendencies within the party to harmonise their positions before the inauguration of the National Assembly. But the man did not make himself available for the talks. His absence stalled themeeting and paved the way for what transpired at the National Assembly that day. It is, in fact, intrigu­ing that one group was waiting to meet with the president while the other was in the chambers of the senate, with the full complement of the principal staff of the National Assembly, electing leaders of the senate. The president could not have been unaware of the goings-on. But he must have chosento look the other way because the development, obviously, did not go againsthis interest. This emerging reality tells a lot of story about the famed Buhari-Tinubu rap­prochement.

But the cordiality of their relationship appears to be taking a nosedive. Buhari, the man for whom Tinubu staked almost every­thing tosee to his emergence as president, is set to be his own man. He does not want the Tinubu brand of politics where power flows from onlyone source. And to demonstrate his rejection of the Tinubu approach, the president is quietly shieldinghimself away from the Tinubu influence.

Perhaps, the first major indication that signposted the way Buhari’s mind was working was in the choice of his media team. The president chose his own men. He would not be bothered that Tinubu deployed his entire media machine and machinery to fight his (Buhari’s) presidential battle. The president does not appear to want strange bedfellows around him. He wants to know, as Chinua Achebe would say, when the rain will begin to beat him.

The immediate impression a discerning observer will run away with in all this is that the APC, which managed to emerge victorious in the recent general elections, wasunited by only one thing – the resolve to end the reign of Goodluck Jonathan, as Ni­geria’s president. The APCeasily achieved consensus inthis just as Nigerians, again according to Chinua Achebe, will always achieve consensus only in one thing – their common resentment for the Igbo. Beyond that, the party is a very divided house. Since the only agenda that brought the party to­gether has been taken care of, the party can, as well, implode and even explode. This appears to be happening already.

Another scenario that should interest observers is the consensus that a tendency within the APC in the National Assembly reached with their colleagues from the opposing PDP. Both parties, in what looks like a seamlessexercise, came together to decide on who their leaders should be. The rapprochement even made itpossible for an opposition party member to emerge as Deputy President of the Senate. What this means is that in the absence of the President of the Senate, the minority PDP will have one ofits own control proceedings in the senate. It will be interesting to see how this will play out.

This intriguing development would have mattered were we in for real politics where the ruling and opposition parties have different persuasions and ideolo­gies.But here it does not matter because APC and PDP are one and the same thing. In fact, APC is usually taken to be a waste basket of the PDP. That is why both have no difficulty flocking together.

But the real interesting angle to all of this appears to be what Saraki and his supporters within the APC represent. Saraki was one of the henchmen of the PDP, who defected in droves during those hectic moments to the APC. Those were people who were part of everything that PDP had been since 1999. When they left the party, they were not,strictly speaking, against theparty. They were against the situation in the party at thattime that appeared to be strangulating them. What they did was to revolt against that tendency, usingthe instrumental­ity of another platform, in this case, the APC. Having achieved their objective, they can, as well, assert themselves. This is what they have begun to do.

Ordinarily, President Buhari, who has never been in league with the Saraki tendency in politics, is supposed to be uncomfortable with the couphatched and executed by these former members of the PDP. But he is not. Having become presi­dent, Buhari is very willing and ready to free himself from the stranglehold of the tendency within the APC represented by the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Therefore, if he had tolook the other way to ensurethat the ACN tendency is sufficiently weakened, so be it. That appears to be the Buhari attitude to the emerging scenario within APC.

If what has happened at the National Assembly is sustained, we will come to see a situation where a sizable number of APC lawmakers will tend towards PDP. In fact, majority of them will not mind returning to PDP if that is what has to be done to ensure that the ACN tendency does not dominate the affairs of the APC. Nigerians should expectmore of such twists in the years to come.

But now that a segment of the APC which represents itsnational leadership has received an upper cut, what does it do about the situation? Will it and can it unseat the leadership that has emerged on both floors of the National Assembly? The true test as to who ownsthe party resides in the way this Gordian knot will be cracked.

The same principles apply to insects. That is why maleRoesel's bush-cricketshave evolved their amazing courtship apparatus.

They have a pair of curved rods called titillators pointing out of their genital openings. They look a bit like coat hooks.

Until recently no one knew what they were for. But it now seems they stimulate a sensitive area of the female's genitals.

The new results have been published in the journal Arthropod Structure and Development.

Gerlind Lehmann of the Humboldt-University Berlin in Germany and her colleagues examined the titillators under microscopes. Then they watched bush-crickets mating, and used CT scans to figure out what the titillators were doing during mating.

They found that the male repeatedly, and rhythmically, inserted the titillators into the female's genital opening.

The titillators were gently drumming on a plate inside the female's genitals. This plate was covered in different kinds of sensory cells, suggesting that the female could detect the titillators' drumming.

This suggests that the titillatorsare somehow helping the male keep the female interested, much as mating humans perform pre-intimacy on each other's genitals to stimulate sexual desire.

In unpublished experiments, Lehmann tried shortening the titillators.

The females became more likely to resist the male's attempts at mating, and males were less likely to succeed in transferring sperm.

The highly sensitive spot inside the female's genitals may sound rather similar to the center of gravity, a region inside the human vagina that is sensitive to sexual stimulation. But the two may be very different.

In particular, it's unclear whether the female insects experience any pleasure from the titillators. Insects such as bush-crickets may not be conscious enough to experience sensations such as pleasure.

Instead the action of the titillators might do something more functional, such as suppressing her instinct to fightthe male off.

A former Governor of Kaduna State, AlhajiBalarabe Musa, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint ministers and other government functionaries fromthe opposition parties, saying a government of national unity should be paramount in his agenda.
Musa, who spoke in an interview with our correspondent, on Wednesday, berated the winner-takes-all political culture in the country and argued that a coalition government was imperative.
He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari should form a government of national unity. He should appoint ministers and government functionaries, not only from the APC but from the Peoples DemocraticParty and other opposition parties.”
While commenting on the high cost of governance in the country, Musa asked the Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, and his Kaduna State counterpart, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, to disclose their full entitlements rather than “merely announce a 50 per cent reduction in their salaries.”
“The recent announcement of a slash in salaries by El-Rufai and Abubakar is too symbolic. What about other remunerationthey get besides salaries? We have to know about all the governor gets, not justsalaries. It is not really commendable. It isnot enough. It is politically distractive. Letthe two governors reveal the whole entitlement that they get, including salaries. They should let us know what each governor costs the state,” Musa said.
While reacting to the election of Senator Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, as the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively, Musa said although the election process was democratic. He said, both Saraki and Dogara should be loyal to their party, noting that they got elected on the platform of the APC.
He added, “Let the President first initiate the reduction in the entitlements for political office holders through an act of law. Although the moves to reduce the remuneration of public office holders failed during the Shehu Shagari era in the Second Republic, people are now more aware and enlightened and the lawmakersshould support that. It is the President who can champion the initiative. He has more powers than other public office holders.

The emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate and Yakubu Dogara as the Speaker of the House of Representatives may have altered the cabinet consideration of President Muhammadu Buhari,THE PUNCHhas learnt.
Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, is from North-Central while Dogara hails from Bauchi, North-East.
The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, is from the South-East while the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yusuf Lasun, hails from the South-West.
All these officers, except Ekweremadu, are members of the ruling APC.
The deputy senate president is the only member of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
President Buhari was said to be waiting for the outcome of the election before making announcement on key appointments in his government.
Apart from the ministers, he was said to be waiting for the election of principal officers of the National Assembly before naming his Secretary to the Government of the Federation, his Chief of Staff and Special Advisers.

Investigations by our correspondent in Abuja indicated that the position of the SGF hitherto reserved for the South-East may now go to another zone because of the emergence of Ekweremadu.
In anticipation that the position would go to the zone, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was said to have submitted three names to the President.
Those on his list are a former Governor ofAnambra State, Senator Chris Ngige; a former Governor of old Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and Prof. Anthony Anwuka.
It was gathered that in the negotiation that brought Saraki to power, the zone agreed to rather go for the position of the deputy senate president instead of the SGF.
The presidential source said, “President Buhari is seriously tinkering with the original list he has for political offices. This is because the emergence of the officers of the National Assembly has affected the original list he has.
“Though he was expecting some elements of surprise in the election, but I think he never bargained for a total disregard to party directive in the election of the officers.”
So far, in the distribution of offices, only the South-South region has not benefitted.
It was gathered that some people were arguing that since the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, hails from the zone, that should be considered as a position.
“Because of this, the zone is being considered for a strategic position by the President either as the SGF, CoS or others. But politicians from the North-East are still mounting pressure on the President to cede the position of the SGF to the area,” the source added.
The emergence of Lasun is also said to bethreatening the zoning of the office of the office of the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation to the South-West.
It was learnt that Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was saddled with the responsibility of nominating a lawyer for the position.
The VP, it was further gathered, would be in charge of justice and law reforms to be carried out by the Buhari administration.
If those who want the office taken out of the zone succeed, it was gathered that it may go to Kebbi State, where a particular SAN who worked for the presidential bid of Buhari and Osinbajo was being considered.
The argument of these set of people, wasthat majority of those being considered in the South-West, are not card-carrying members of the ruling party.
It was learnt that the President has however not made up his mind on this issue.
Our correspondent also gathered that the name of a former Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State, Mr. Olawale Edun, was being touted as one of the people to be appointed from the zone.
The snag in his nomination, it was gathered, was that he was being nominated out of Ogun State where he hails from with the intention of occupyingthe slot of his home state.
However, it was learnt that the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, is resisting the move by allegedly saying he would be the one to nominate minister from his state.
Also being touted as a minister is the Executive Chairman Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue and Chief Executive Officer Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Babatunde Fowler.
Efforts made to get the reaction to the story however were not successful as calls made to the telephone of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, indicated that it was switched off.
He also didn’t reply to a text message sent to him.
But a Presidential source said that “the non- appointment of some of the key aides of the President was because President Buhari was waiting for the elections at NASS.
“He didn’t want to make the mistake of appointing his aides from the zone where the leadership of both the Senate and theHouse of Representatives could have emerged.
“You know that the case of the South-East was particularly worrisome because they didn’t vote for the APC and they don’t have any senator or Rep from the APC. So, the way of taking care of the zone in key appointment was giving us headache.
“Now, the zone has come through the back door to get the office of the Deputy Senate President. That is okay for the Presidency. That shows the zone has helped itself and has also helped the Presidency.”
It was learnt that anytime from now, the President would name some of the peopleto be appointed into the key positions, especially those that may not need the approval of the Senate.
