To be honest with you, This is the only thing jonathan can do to help obasanjo. Or do you think the north would allow you to name abuja stadium after him. NO. You would see. Did they allow for abiola or awolowo to be named after NO.

Even apart from that. They already have named Lagos stadium after a Yorubaman. So in fairness to the north, they have to name abuja stadium after a northerner president. Which you know the north has shagari,Gowon, buhari, IBB,Adbusalami, And all of the five has thier eyes on the stadium.

So the only think In Ogun state is olumo rock, since there is nothing in ogun state to name after Obasanjo.

Even if they go to ondo state, there is nothing there , ekiti, the same thing, or is it osun, nothing is there, there is nothing again in Oyo. nothing in kwara to name after Obasanjo. And the airport in lagos has been name after murtala , while the one stadium is already after abiola.

What happen was the Royal Niger company headquarter was lokoja,  which was part of the southern protectorate.  And George Taubman Goldie the head of the southern protectorate(royal niger company) had alway lived in Lokoja.   But Lord Lugard made kaduna Northern protectorate headquarter.   Lord lugard normally visit him there.

When Nigeria was now Amalgamationin 1914. Lord lugard decided to relocate from Kaduna to Lokoja. There was illiterate in the north at that time, Northerners assume that thier own protectorate included lokoja.  They did not understand what Amalgamation was.  That why till today the northerner assume that part of the country which included Ilorin or jebba to lokoja was part of Northern protectorate.  There was illiterate in the north at that time.  This is how the story looks from book, like it happen. All writer lived in Nigeria at that time.

The Southern Protectorate  was form in 1900, there was none, before this time, which did include Ilorin. Britain won against the Sokoto calliphate in 1902. But ilorin was already part of the control of the Southern Protectorate in control of  George Goldie.

When lord lugard won against the north above the river niger and benue, he control it, while  George Goldie control the  Southern Protectorate .  until 1914 while because of the finance cost of the Northern protectorate, both went under lord lugard.  This is what the books are saying.

There was no  Southern Protectorate   when the anglophone treaty between France and Britain about Benin republic was signed in 1889.

The reason they sign an agreement was because in 1888 the Yoruba refused to be separated from the Yorubas in the republic of Benin.   Yorubas got upset and revolt against britain and now sign a treaty to be under french protectorate. France also agree to build a railway in yorubaland.  Britian quickly rush a gentleman agreement with france . In that treaty it also included that the border can not be closed.
