Ooni preaches unity among Yoruba leaders

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade has asked Yoruba leaders and traditional rulers to be united for the purpose of accelerating the development of the region.

Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijua

The monarch gave the advice in Igbokoda town, in the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, during the coronation of the Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba Obateru Akinruntan.

The Ooni, who attended the ceremony in company with other 23 traditional rulers in Yorubaland, said the region would maintain its leadership position in the country if traditional rulers play their roles well to earn the respect of the subjects.

He noted that there were appreciable progress and development in Yorubaland and prayed that God would successfully complete the work he had started in the region.

Sijuwade, who was the chairman of the occasion, said, "It is necessary for traditional rulers and the people to be united and allow peace to reign so that the Yoruba race will continue to witness a robust human and infrastructural development."

He also appealed to the people of Ugboland to support Akinruntan, who, according to him, would make use of his wisdom and God-given wealth to develop the riverside community under his jurisdiction.

Ooni commended the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, for presenting the staff of office to the new Olugbo, and urged the state government to improve on the welfare of traditional rulers in the state.

Mimiko said the development of the oil-rich Ilaje area of the state could only be achieved if all ethnic nationalities in the area work together.

He also urged Akinruntan to bring the Mahins, Aheris, Etikans and the Ugbos in Ilaje together for the collective benefit of the people.

He pledged that the state government would continue to provide an enabling environment that would encourage the people of the state to contribute to the development of their communities.

The head of Ojadele ruling house, Chief Roberts Nana, said the coronation was a celebration of victory over some people that wanted to lord themselves over Ugboland.

Akinruntan said his emergence as the monarch had been predicted 28 years ago by a frontline prophet in the area, who he said, told him that he would be inaugurated as a monarch with anointing oil and not with the traditional "Akoko" leaves.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were; Oyo State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja; His counterpart in Ondo, Alhaji Ali Olanusi; Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Samuel Adesina and the Senator Folashade Bent, who was conferred with a traditional title, among others.

hercules07 , dont you claim you are not yoruba,  if not, you would not say, all this nonsense about the oni of ife. an you come in under different name.

In Yorubaland, the oni of ife is the spiritual head of the yoruba people. Even to show you how powerful the nigeria culuture. I am boosting the president of Nigeria, Jonathan Goodluck cant not remove the Oni of Ife. I am telling, that day Jonathan Goodluck dare , would be the last day he remain in power.

That should tell you how nigerian hold tradition so high. a governor only stay for 4 years, but a king remain there till he dies, You just seen how they remove the governor of delta state. Even abacha would not have been able to remove the oni of ife, like he remove dasuki. Go and ask. I am telling you, they would impreach Jonathan Goodluck if he dare come close to tradition in nigeria. That tell you who is in power in nigeria.

Look go and ask, Olusegun  Obasanjo prostrate to the Oni of ife. if they make a 6 years king, our tradition demand, that Olusegun Obasanjo prostrate to that 6 year old.

hercules07,   if you live in Yorubaland please post your name and address. And I would tell you this. It is going to be the last time in your life, you would ever step your feet in Yorubaland. And you can go to abuja and complain to Jonathan Goodluck, that they drove you away.  And I am telling you ,put your name and they would come and pack your properties and ship you out of Yorubaland. if you are bold enough put your name.

hercules07  if you believe in what you say, you can post your name. it means you dont believe.

Dont you find asari dokubo talking boldly of what he believe against Nigeria boldy, because Asari Dokubo knows his people support him. If you are scared to post your own name, is because you know your people are against it.

You can see the Uhrobo senator from PDP boldy decamp the PDP because he knows his people are against what is going on. If you believe post your name. Everybody know my name. I have not be scared. I have spoken the mind of the people without fear, because I believe what i say.

I do not believe we risk the life of people , because of an artificial creation call Nigeria. A country is history, a country is culture, a country is tradition,  a country is  languages. You cant force a foreign believe on others. Others have to have a different opinion. You cant force even white people believe on india, african or chinesse, you have to allow them to pick thier path.

edo, delta and Yoruba people  choice to leave and join benin republic. You either come ro remain.

Akanbi had seven children Popo(dahomey)  which is the last child. Alafin of Oyo attack his brother  Popo(called dahomey)

Here are the name of the seven children

Onipopo of Popo, Oba of Benin, Orangun of Ila, Alaketu of Ketu, Alafin of Oyo, Orangun of Ila, Onisabe of Sabe, Olupopo of Popo, and Oranyan of Oyo

Look at the map, you people wrongly assume that the whole of Benin republic was Dahomey. No that is not truth. Can you see where the children of popo live in today benin. The children of Ketu also live in Benin republic. And the children of Sabe also live in Benin republic.

You people talk as if Benin republic only have the children of popo, thier are also other children of Oduduwa who live there now.

Sabe have also been sabe in the Benin republic, Ketu have always be Ketu in the Benin republic. Sabe and ketu where never move there yesterday.
Adio, araromi,Ajegunle, ajese, okuta basa, Abeokuta have been there for thousand of years, Yorubaland was never separate  pre colonia. This places have always been where they were. there was no benin republic or nigeria many years ago.

You people are not yoruba people , who do not know the history of the yorubas or the republic of Benin. Even of the town that country is  named after is in Nigeria and not benin republic. Africa do not see themself based on the united nation map of countries.

They see and talk about thier country, based on thier ethnics group. A yorubaman believe is country is Yorubaland, and it is more than one country of the united nation. This is why , there are civil wars in africa.

You cant force african to see themself the way europian see them, but rather the way they see themself. You cant go to english now and now tell england people that they are no more english men, that they  Russians. And they most call themself Russia.

Or can you go to china, and tell chinesse people, they are Arabic people.  No.

The tusi and huntu in Rwanda and burudi , do not see themself as people of a nation Rwanda or Burudi.NO. They see themself as Tusi people from the country of Tusi in two countries  and Huntu people also see themself from the country of Huntu in two countries. And that is why when the war started in one, it went into the other. because you cant force or make Nigeria to see themself as people of an imaginary country. As long as you want to force Nigerian to believe they are from  imaginary country, there would always be civil war in Nigeria.

Santa claus is NOT REAL. can someone tell the United nation, that santa claus is not real. It is only imaginary, samething for Nigeria and the Yoruba people.  The Yoruba people believe Nigeria is Santa claus.  Nigeria is imaginary.

The Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba Obateru Akinruntan is the CEO of Obat Oil
This is also about greed and self interest.

Becomerich, if your desire to unite all the Yorubas is genuine then you have to speak the truth.

The Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba Obateru Akinruntan is the CEO of Obat Oil, and there is no doubt in my mind that he has consolidated his position as the monarch only to further exploit the wealth that naturally belongs to all the people of that region, with very little visible gains for the common folk. Google Obat Oil and you will see what I mean. Also find out if there have been improvements to the living standards of the locals in the area.

For Yorubas to advance and make huge developmental progress there has to be reform in traditional forms of authority. The Obas and Cheiftancy system is all about self interest and making a selected few that can buy themselves titles more wealthy and powerful to the detriment of the masses that generally don’t get a sniff of the action. Yorubas should be able to learn from other societies in the Globe to learn about how they reformed and adapted to change to benefit their people or ‘General good’.

If the emphasis can be shifted from the concentration of wealth in the hands of the few to the hands of the many then the Yorubas can potentially get to be extremely wealthy.
