Why do nairaland modify my posting. When i post i notice ,when i come back to the post , it as been modified. why do you people do that.

We'll Ensure Nationwide Ban Of Eze Ndigbo South East Monarchs

South East Traditional Rulers Council has lauded the ban on the Eze Ndigbo title by the Lagos State Government.

The Council has, therefore, requested other states to follow suit and outlaw the title in their domains, even as Eze Ndigbo of Lagos, Hyacinth Nwabueze Ohazulike, decline knowledge of the ban.

In an exclusive interview with Saturday Independent in his office in Owerri, on Wednesday, chairman of Imo Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, described the title as a cultural aberration, and an insult to the cultural integrity of Ndigbo.

It would be recalled that Ilomuanya, who is also the Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers Council, has repeatedly opposed the award of the title to Igbo living outside Igbo land, pointing out that claims to the title is a desecration of the rich culture and tradition of Ndigbo.

He commended the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, as well as the state government, for acceding to the request of Igbo monarchs, by banning the title.

His words: "The South East Council of Traditional Rulers visited the Oba of Lagos, and at the meeting, we gave the state, the authority to stop Igbo in Lagos from operating as Ezes (Kings), because by the act, the Oba of Lagos himself is being insulted. So, I'm happy that they listened to us, and today, our objective has been achieved.

"We can't continue to watch our children kill one another in the name of a non-existent title

"You can see what's happening in Lagos. Everywhere you enter, it's Eze Ndigbo this, Eze Ndigbo that. You see our subjects outside Igbo land killing one another for no just cause. And when they do that, the indigenous monarch becomes helpless, because he'll assume that whatever he does would be interpreted as persecuting the Igbo.

"With this ban, I now feel that respect and honour for our traditional institution has been restored in Lagos. It's not a personal fight; it's a collective fight of all the traditional rulers in Igbo land. We sat in a meeting and looked at this issue and we said no; our culture and tradition are being abused. How can somebody outside Igbo land sit down and be conferring chieftaincy titles when he's not a traditional ruler?

Meanwhile, Ohazulike has declared that the announcement, last Monday by Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rotimi Agunsoye, that the state government has ceased to recognise Eze Ndigbo title in the state, was not in order.

Ohazulike insisted that Eze Ndigbo is an association duly registered and recognised by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).He added: "I believe it must be one of the reasons, but I don't believe this is right. What I am saying is that Eze Ndigbo is a registered body; it is a corporate body, of which I am its national president. It is not a title of non-Igbo speaking states, it is a title of Ndigbo. But we are watching. We will sit down and discuss, we are only treating it as media reports."

that is mudashiru picture. You can go and count the number of school building he built in lagos with less than a year in power. I do not know the number but he is the second best governor so far in lagos.

What I used to rate them is contribution to facilties in lagos state. And not how much they pay pressmen.

Jakande is the best in Nigeria so far. It is an issue of having vision. You do not need 4 years to change a society and leave your mark. Mudashiru within is short time on earth did. Even you want to know this. He never stole and not only that , where he was living some time back after his dead, his wife and children were service with notice to leave the place.

This man was in power there and did not steal and He built may be more that 500 to 1000 of those school building within less than 1 year. It is not like some people who after they became governors , they own a airline and another own a majority share in an oil company. Leader must be God fearing.

There can not be Eze Igbo in Yorubaland. Yoruba culture does not allow it. Even read the Nigeria constitution. customary law is allowed. You can have a leader for the igbos , but not an eze. It is against customary law of Nigeria. You can have outside of Nigeria.

It is not an Ijebu culture, it is a Yoruba culture. When I was young my mother use to do it. And if my father was not around. I was the first son of the house. My mother would call me to taste it first. When she get the permission from my father. And I am not Ijebu. It is a yoruba culture.

I would rate Jakande as the best governor of lagos because Jakande built all nearly all the school , more than half of them and nearly 90% of the estate in lagos. Jakande is the best governor Nigeria as ever had. He would have been president if we never had military govt.  Gbolahun was able to rebuild some of Jakande built with less than 9 month in office, Military man with a vision. Mobolaji Johnson would be credited with the road network in lagos. I would say Bola Tinubu effort for his rebuilding some of the road in the Island place him at 4th. I cant rate fashola, but from what you people say. He should be number five.


And the lagos state govt should rename LASU, Kayode Jakande University(KYU) while he is still alive to enjoy the work of his hand. He is a great man.

sorry buhari and atiku are members of the PDP, they just do not have membership card yet. Buhari or atiku you make me laugh, they are part of yar adua team. This too member politics are only interested in the north agenda. And yar adua to them is the north agenda. they are not part of the opposition. Did you not see the way AC reject Atiku. If AC near Atiku, AC is finish.

then why not remove us to benin republic.

What I am saying is not all ticket are justified. Go to the court house everyday, it look like a mall. I know a man, who got 7 tickets from the same officer multiple event, in a city with millions people. What is the probability of that happening?. do the maths. Even the toronto star did a story awhile back. I am busy today. May be on the weekend Have a wonderful day.

Why would Nigeria want the Solicitor-General to resigns over driver licence. Why, even in Canada or the USA. Nobody resign over driver licence. The police give more than 1 million ticket a year in the USA and Canada. So what?? Even the case of the Solicitor-General resignature is odd in canada.

Then more than 80% of Nigerian abroad would have to resign. I do not want to give you the statistics of the number of ticket Nigerian get. Even for been a Nigerian, it is not easy. I have see a man with Ogbomosho man claim he is not a Nigerian before. To God the mark on his cheek was Ogbomosho tribal mark, because he did not want people to know he was Nigerian. I do not believe Nigerian should resign over a ticket. What is the nature of the ticket. I got two ticket parking inside a mall parking lot. This is a place that it is legal to park. Even in one case, I got two ticket on the same car on the same day at the same spot, the other ticket still attached. In a place where it is designated as park lot. I got one ticket parked inside a paid parking lot inside a hospital. I mean inside a parking space I have already paid for. Look it got to a point a friend was so scared he stopped calling my phone directly from his phone. He believe there must be something wrong when he witness one of the ticket inside a legal mall parking lot.  So people do not count it much here. Many police officer get fired over ticket they sometime issue.

Look why not go thru any airport in the world with your Nigeria passport and see. How you get treated. Like a criminal.  Even in business when Nigerian over here are been honest people assume they are doing scam. Even when the business Nigeria business is legal. I have been  to Ethiopia before, even an Africa country they treat us the same way. I was trying to hire some people for a job once. And I had to use about 1 hour to explain to them, It was not a scam, because I was a nigerian. One of the people, a black lady wanted to see my police report because I was nigerian. this is someone I wanted to give a job to.  The rest of the world does not believe there is a honest nigerian again.

I believe the Solicitor-General should not have resigned. It is just a ticket. When I read it. I find it funny.  I think the Solicitor-General had other reason why he resign, it may not be connected with the ticket. You see when people are in government over here, they do not make money. Not like Nigeria where people steal from government and but out of government , they make a lot of money. Sometime they resign to become CEO of company. They make money this way than been in government as a CEO, you get share of the company which is worth millions of dollar. They have great influence in the society.

Jean Chrétien never made money in government. But they make money now out of government with book deals and presentation. Bill Clinton charge money for public appearance. If I remember very well, Bill Clinton made $30 million from his book last years.  Geroge Bush made $7 million just some few week ago from his book deal. George Bush would make over $100 million over the next few years.
When Obama leaves office, Obama would make millions of dollars doing presentation and books. This is how they make money.
