I have this issue with my 2010, south African corolla.
While in motion, I get up to 60km/h at 2000rpm, if I go beyond 60km/h my rpm will start going very high up to 4000rpm.

What could really be the cause, is it transmission, or a sensor I don't know, the gear oil is well guaged and I have never serviced the gear before.

Mechanics are finding it difficult to diagnose the issue.

Previous owner maintained it well .. Still has the thermostat.. Oil remains light brown even after 3000km after servicing
