Family / Re: So, What's Wrong In Choosing Marriage? by BEE3: 2:28pm On Nov 22, 2013 |
bukatyne: A woman that owns her business is way more flexible than a salary earner. I have an aunt that if she decided to skip going to her business for a week, money is still flowing in for her. Skip work for a week as a salary earner and come back to tell us the tale. Honestly, life is easier than we think. Upon all the 9-5 and 9-9 women do, a vast majority of them are well underpaid for the kind of job they do. They half-neglect the kids for work that's paying peanuts. So what's the point? Is it by force to born pikin sef? I see couples that have been married for 10 years and over and they have no kids yet, because they can't afford it (even though they seem comfortable). But the Nigerian (not only Nigerians) mentality is to start popping out kids as soon as you get married to prove you're capable 4 kids in the space of 7 yrs with no planning and both parents working like enslaved Israelites in Egypt.... tell me how that's not unnecessary stress If we can't focus on these kids in their early years (at least) it's better not to bring them into this world. In recent times that peoples' lives are a revolving door consisting of bills, debts and paychecks, it's hard to nurture a kid. And that's more reason why it requires adequate and thorough planning in terms of being there as parents emotionally/physically and materially. No need to do patch- patch if you can't provide. If you can't be there, don't have kids. |

Nashville: 'do you have difficulty interpreting simple sentences?' isn't enough reason to quit this debate. C'mon on, man up! I'm a strong advocate for staying at home for your kids (for a while), but the workaholic-mums camp has made great points on this thread so far. So, please continue. coogar: The men are so used to getting help from their wives nowadays that the thought of her staying home for the kids (for a while) is mind boggling. Some men even vex that their spouses have to stay home for two weeks after she's put to bed. And the women too, the "what a man can do a woman can do better" mentality has changed their thought processes. 'I must feel important- I must work all my life-'. Forgetting that they're the BIOLOGICAL MOTHER of those kids. The kids need their mother for those first few years. can't stress enough how important that is. |
Family / Re: So, What's Wrong In Choosing Marriage? by BEE3: 11:47am On Nov 22, 2013 |
Nashville: I don't think that's what he meant. Coogar is saying the 'stay-at-home' scheme is temporary (3,4-5yrs, depending on child spacing ). How does that equate to her not deserving to work? Plus she's been working prior pregnancy/ies. It's just a break. Her Harvard degree isn't going to waste like you claim. Dedicating 5 whole years to your kids out of the 75 years one will live for isn't much of a big deal if you ask me. |
Romance / Re: Why Do Nairaland Girls Dont Meet Up To Standard by BEE3: 4:48pm On Nov 11, 2011 |
@Idowu lol. Ok. Now I get it. My bad. I was "conversing" with cocoa though, not you, so I don't know why you're taking this more serious than she is--- weird. Iyale, don't take me too seriously; rather, play along. If you decide to take me to heart, then you're working unnecessary nerves, coz I mean no harm. |

Idowuogbo: Lmao. Odikwa this is very serious. You're lying, Something is eating you up. Just squash it once and fore-all. What is your problem? If you can't tell me what exactly the problem is, you can always go to the diary section to pour it all out. Seun is far too kind. Idowuogbo: oRn Point. |
