That fat cow called rochASS CockroachOCHA is nothing but a disgrace to humans & southeast at large.. Governor Willie Obiano, on his part, slammed Okorocha, saying he has not provided the kind of leadership in Imo State to inspire any governor to join his party. “The question should be, has Rochas Okorocha provided an inspiring leadership for the people of Imo State under APC? So, why would any governor in Nigeria heed Okorocha’s call? Okorocha is an example of what a leader should not be,” But, I thought Obiano gat some chills mehn |
Politics › Femi Fani-kayode Slams Osinbajo Over Silence On Killing Of Christians.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 9:28am On Jan 31, 2017 |
A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed his anger on Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo over his loud silence on the killing of some Christians in Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode said the refusal of Osinbajo to speak against the incidents and protect his own people from what he tagged as ‘sneaky dirty rats’ was very pathetic.
The controversial writer-cum-orator, who was reacting to the Monday’s interrogation of the Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman faulted Osinbajo for refusing to condemn the genocide that was being perpetrated by the Fulani militias on Christians across the country.
In the concluding part of his article entitled ‘the travails of Apostle Johnson Suleman and the inciting words of the Sultan Of Sokoto, Fani said if the killing continued, the Christian community would have no choice but resort to self-defence.
He wrote, “Our Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who is undoubtedly a fine gentleman and who is a practising Pentecostal Christian, appears to be helpless and has done absolutely nothing to help and protect his own from the “sneaky dirty rats”.
“Clearly he has no power and he does not have the disposition or the political will and clout to take a stand against this great evil.
“The best he could do was to issue a tepid statement telling Nigerian religious and political leaders not to allow religion to drive us apart.
“He did not condemn the genocide that was being perpetrated by the Fulani militias and neither did he commiserate with the families of those that were butchered or express regret about the inability of the Federal Government to prevent the carnage,” he added.
Fano-Kayode added that despite the killings and persecutions of Christian, it would not deter them from remaining steadfast and strong in faith.
“Not even one hundred million inciting words from the Sultan of Sokoto or anyone else can change that,” he said. http://dailypost.ng/2017/01/31/fani-kayode-slams-osinbajo-silence-killing-christians/

Politics › National Power Grid Collapsed 3 Times In First 20days Of January - Investigation by BeeBeeOoh(op): 6:36am On Jan 31, 2017 |
•Power generation suffered redundancy, lossNigeria’s aging power grid has given in to permanent threat of voltage instability and total blackout, collapsing three times in 20 days. Investigation by New Telegraph revealed that this high spate of power system collapse was suffered by the country in the first 20 days of January, 2017. The National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo, Osun State, where data on system collapse are kept, is also bracing up for a tough task as the grid continues to show worsening signs of imminent shutdown. The system, checks by this newspaper showed, suffered two total collapse and one partial collapse during the 20-day period.
This also raised the level of redundancy for power generated during the period. Managing Director, Mainstream Energy Solutions, Mr Lamu Audu, who corroborated this, maintained that the electricity industry was facing grave challenges that needed to be urgently addressed, especially to ensure the evacuation of all the power generated by his plants and that of others. The power industry, he said in confirmation of this newspaper’s investigation, had suffered three system collapses since the beginning of the year. Besides he said that until the current crisis, occasioned mainly by gas pipelines vandalism, system collapse frequency was too high and damaging plants.
This is not the first time that the nation’s power system has suffered collapse. Statistics obtained from the NCC in Osogbo, Osun State, showed that over 139 cases of system collapse was experienced in the nation’s power sector within five years (2009 and 2013). There were 124 cases of system collapse between 2009 and 2012, most of which were total collapse, with less cases of partial collapse.
The NCC is the monitoring arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which controls power transmission across the Eight Regional Centres (RC) of TCN. The RCs are located in Kaduna, Bauchi, Benin, Shiroro, Enugu and Port Harcourt.
The national grid system comprises of transmission infrastructure for evacuating power generated nationwide in a pool, which is then controlled and monitored at the NCC. A breakdown of the statistics showed that there were 39 and 42 system failures between 2009 and 2010 respectively. This was lower in 2011 as it recorded 19 system collapses.
Twenty-four of such were recorded in 2012, including nine partial and 15 total collapses, throwing the nation into undeserved darkness for several days. As at June 2013, the country had suffered over 15 system collapses, a situation that triggered the setting up of a 13-member Technical Investigative Panel on System Collapse to address it.
The number of frequent collapses by the first half of 2013 reached an alarming 139 cases, with pockets of such collapse in the second half of the year.
Meanwhile, Audu, who dismissed claims by the TCN, that low water level was partially responsible for the current gross inadequate power supply in the country, stated that of the total generation on the grid of 2,929 megawatts, as at last Monday morning, mainstream operators of both Kainji and Jebba Hydro Power plants contributed about 700 megawatts, adding that Shiroro hydro power also had about 300 megawatts.
“Part of the problem is that when this system collapse happens, it affects our machines and now Jeba is suffering,” he said. “We have been having, up to this week high frequency, which is as a result of somebody not using the power they are having, that is the only explanation. So, most of these high frequencies cause this system collapse.”
Power generation companies such as Mainstream, Audu said, were suffering losses due to unutilised power, while Nigerians have no power to run their businesses and for domestic uses. “Our system is feeling it. The problem with generation of electricity is that electrical energy cannot be stored.
You use as produced. So, these machines monitor that what it tries to put on the grid is actually utilised, if it is not, the frequency will shoot up and the machine will see it and then begins to de-load and if the machine is not designed to de-load on its own, it will trip to protect itself from the high frequency.
“And by the time our machines trip, so many sequence of events happen within that machine and it causes a lot of wear and tear and with the aged machines that we have and by the time you go through one, two, three system collapse, the damage is much,” he added. https://newtelegraphonline.com/business/national-power-grid-collapsed-3-times-20-days-investigation/

Politics › FG Unveils Solar-Powered Electronic Voting Machine Ahead Of 2019 Elections by BeeBeeOoh(op): 5:59am On Jan 31, 2017 |
•Seeks N419.91bn to power 119,973 polling unitsBy Emmanuel Elebeke ABUJA — The Electronic Development Institute, ELDI, Awka, Anambra State, has developed a solar-powered electronic voting machine for the 2019 general election.
Presenting the device to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, in Abuja, yesterday, Vice Chairman of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, Prof. Mohammed Haruna, told the minister that the innovation was inspired by his (minister’s) request on the agency to develop a tamper proof electronic machine for general election.
He explained that the new voting machine was an improvement on the existing Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC process.
Illustrating the machine, the NASENI boss said the novel technology with cloud-based election result collation system was developed using computer based computing which addresses most of the current electoral challenges with several advantages.
Haruna said the machine, which comes with many advantages, has the capacity to eliminate ballot snatching, multiple thump printing, failure of card reader and alteration of data between polling units and collation centres.
He explained that the device makes provision for real time election result as voting progresses, adding that it also has provision for diaspora voting and incorporates facial recognition, radio frequency identification device options of voter’s identification in addition to thump print and card reader.
The solar powered electronic voting system, according to him, is a home grown technology built on the gains of the present INEC voting system that permits all federal, state and local government elections to be conducted in one day with a voter spending between 50 to 90 seconds to cast his/her votes for both executive and legislative elections.
The system was designed to permit real time display of result as voting progress, if the electoral body so desires, while eliminating human errors. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/01/2019-poll-naseni-develops-solar-powered-electronic-voting-machine/ |
Politics › Boko Haram: New IDPs Found In Jos - The Nation by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:07am On Jan 31, 2017*. Modified: 6:03am On Jan 31, 2017 |
Another group of persons displaced from the Northeast as a result of the activities of Boko Haram has just been discovered in Jos, the Plateau State capital. Apart from the one that has been camping at a school hostel at Zawan Commercial College Bukuru since 2014, another group has been found camping in a village in Bassa Local Government Area the state.
In the Bassa camp, the inmates are mainly children who became orphans when Boko Haram invaded their communities and killed their parents. These children numbering over 200, according to our investigation, were brought from some of the displaced camps in Maiduguri to their current camp in Jos.
A source disclosed to The Nation that the children were brought from their camps in Borno to enable them have Christian education.
The source who pleaded anonymity said, “We realised that in the IDP camps in Maiduguri, they were teaching children in the camp Islamic education and not Western education, but most of these children came from Christian families. So, if these children are allowed to remain in the camp in Maiduguri, they might end up being converted to Islam forcefully. That was why some of them that their parents are alive decided to look for any organisation in Jos that can give their children Christian education. Most of these children don’t even have parents anymore, but we need to rescue them from forceful conversion to Islam, the kind of education the IPDs camp in the far North is mainly Islamic education which is not favorable to victims from Christian backgrounds. That was how this camp was created in Jos for Christian children.”
Meanwhile, the displaced and orphaned children in Bassa camp, Jos, are under the care of a non-governmental organisation known as Youths With a Mission, City of Refuge Centre, Miango, Bassa LGA. The NGO was founded 12 years ago by a couple, Mr. Michael Kurams and his wife Joy, to help the less privileged.
Mr. Kurams said, “Our attention was drawn to the plight of these children at the IDPs camp in Maiduguri and even some that are not in camp in Adamawa, so we went out to fish for such groups of orphans, some of them, their parents brought them voluntarily to enable them access formal education. At the moment we have about 200 of such children in the camp and we have organised formal education for them. We have employed a few teachers to teach them, but there are some youths that have come to do voluntary jobs here to educate the children because my NGO cannot pay to employ enough teachers.
The founder said, “We started the school for them in October last year in whatever way we can hoping that one day government will come to their aid. But even though no government has come to our aid, this particular woman got the information of this camp and visited last year and promised to bring some help to us. Today she has come to make some donations for the food and education of these children. She is God-sent, I don’t know how she got to know we are here, she came on her own. Maybe because she is a mother, she has shown a lot of concern for these children, I hope other Nigerian will emulate her and come to the aid of these orphans,” he said.
The woman in question, Eunice Ayisa Sambo, a Good Samaritan, is a native of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State. Mrs Sambo, an All Peoples Congress (APC) stalwart, who resides mostly abroad, involved an international NGO based in the United Kingdom to help the orphans at the Bassa camp when she discovered that they were brought from the Northeast.
The APC stalwart said, “My decision to bring help for these children should not be mistaken as a political campaign because these children are not even from Plateau state, neither are they from my constituency, a time will come when they will return to their original state of origin, so I’m just doing this out of compassion, as a mother I can’t have the knowledge of these kinds of orphans and pretend I don’t know, they are vulnerable, they need help, they have lost their parents, who will cater for their needs. So all these thoughts moved me into coming with the little I can do to help, they are my children, if I’m rich enough I would have adopted all of them and kept them in my house, but I can’t. But I know I am a trustee in an NGO that can help, hence I went back to U.K, and this is how they decided to help these children with this token donation.
While presenting the donations to the camp manager, Mrs Sambo said, “On behalf of myself, a trustee of and co-founder of Amazing Grace Charitable Trust, UK and founder of Jos Wallgate Foundation Nigeria, we make this visit to internally displaced persons including women and children from Borno state domicile in Jos Plateau state. The situation in the North Eastern part of Nigeria over in the past and present has affected lots of communities and forcing inhabitants of affected communities into unimaginable traumatic experiences.
“In our own little way we make this visit and donation to the displaced persons particularly the children whose future has been endangered as a result of the insecurity in the Northeast. It is our belief that the immediate needs of these vulnerable children is not limited to food and shelter, but their education is of utmost important. The future of these children is basically anchored on their education, which is why we decided to support the NGO hosting these children in our little way to an ale the children receive quality education while in this camp” she said.
Items donated during the visit includes; 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of locally-milled rice, 9 bags of beans. The donation also includes the cash sum of N240,000.00 (Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira) for the payment of two teachers to be employed for the education of the children for the period of one year begging from January 2017. http://thenationonlineng.net/boko-haram-new-idps-found-jos/Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
