Celebrities › Charly Boy Writes Letter To Young Nigerians, "Calls Buhari's Change Wayo". by BeeBeeOoh(op):
Controversial showbiz mogul, Charly Boy, is tired of the current state of the nation.

Area father took to his website yesterday, September 12, 2016, lamenting the poor state in which Nigeria is being governed. According to him, they have back tracked on the change they promised and now want Nigerians to be the change they want to see. Read how he wrote it below.

“Oh Lord, why?? So many questions dey slap me for face; sometimes my mouth no fit talk sef, na him I turn to Achebe. Why, why, why?? I dey ask myself. My people, remember the Change they promised us? Now they are telling us to be the change we want to see. Ha ha ha, the more you look, wayo made easy 101. But why we dey allow all these rogue behaviour from our leaders? Even with a collapsing economy, These our yeye leaders are still the biggest African spenders in London. In some shops especially on Oxford street, Many Naijas have turned that street into their own Las Vegas with their loot, even as dollar don high reach and still dey climb. Kai! Why?

”Naija reminds me of one “Agbaya” (Yoruba word for old-for-nothing, foolish nonentity), even at the age of 56, still as stupid, with no sense of direction. 56yrs of rubbish and nonsense, even as we the followers are adjudged the happiest people in the world. Ha, suffering and smiling abi? What do we have to show for all the years of oil boom? Dilapidated primary, secondary schools, and useless universities where violence and cult reign supreme, where young girls sleep around with their lecturers for grades; hospitals that remind me of mechanic sheds and doctors that are no better than vulcanizers?

”From Obasanjo to Jonathan’s era, more than $25billion was injected into the power sector, but rats stole and siphoned most of it to their foreign accounts and private pockets. Why? Our leaders have failed because of selfishness, religious fundamentalism, graft, corruption, indiscipline, impunity, greed, and so on. While they live and enjoy a lavish life, millions of Naijas are deprived of their basic needs of water, light, food, health, education, housing. Yet, the poor remain docile and afraid, waiting for manner from heaven. Oh Lord. Why?

”Forget sha, our leaders are so removed from the people that they look like foreigners in their father’s land. Everyday na so dem they mess up because there are no consequences for failure. Dem dey yarn akpata we dey clap for them. How is it their fault? Writing about the sins of our leaders is already a waste of time, they are sitting pretty…in the face of unnecessary frustration, hopelessness and poverty.

Why have we given up, isn’t it our moral obligation as citizens of this country to hold leadership accountable?

”Without a sharp critical assessment of leadership and the duties of leadership, we ignorantly select rifrafs, entertainers, people from the gutters, with no credible background, thieves and animals, as opposed to strong visionaries. Mark my word, this hardship will not go away anytime soon. It has not only been the fault of leadership, we ourselves are guilty of inaction. Our leaders are not from Togo or Ghana, they are from amongst us, we know them.

”Whether na Igbo trader’s mentality, owambe permutation or aboki lifestyle, the current archaic way of leadership and methodologies are so out-of-tune with trends. This is why they continue to fail to engage the next generation of Nigerians exceptional youths who are techno savvy but lacking in direction; it’s the reason we see the same types of unchanging engagement, the same old faces from back in the day. People who should be put to pasture, but dem wan die der. These our yahoo leaders no get any idea about the new world that is “liking” itself away on Youtube, Facebook and Wikipedia. Mark Zuckerberg no come Nigeria come look 3rd Mainland Bridge, e come do business, with him jeans and t-shirts. Nigerian youths make una do something o, dem dey steal una future go be dat o.”

Politics › 4,904 Workers Recruited By Jonathan May Lose Jobs- Punchng by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:14am On Sep 13, 2016
The jobs of 4,904 civil servants, who were recruited by the Federal Civil Service Commission in the last administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, are under threat as the Federal Character Commission has queried the exercise.

It was learnt on Monday that moves by the Federal Civil Service Commission to sack the workers had led to a crisis in the civil service.

No fewer than 247 of the affected workers had petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission over a plan by the FCSC to sack them.

The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Dr. Shettima Abba, had queried the Chairman of the FCSC, Mrs. Joan Ayo, for alleged violation of the principle of federal character in the employment of the civil servants in a letter dated May 3, 2016.

He said the recruitment, which took place between 2013 and 2015, was characterised by a flagrant abuse of the Federal Character principle.

Abba alleged that the recruitment was tilted in favour of the South-South geopolitical zone against other parts of the country.

He pointed out that the South-South got 33.6 per cent of those employed as against the 26.2 per cent allotted to applicants from for the North-East, North-West and North-Central geopolitical zones.

He directed the civil service commission’s boss to ensure that the perceived inequality was addressed in the 2016 recruitment by the commission in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Character Commission.

Abba stated, “The Federal Character Commission has viewed and observed with concern the recruitment exercises undertaken by the Federal Civil Service between 2013 and 2015, which glaringly is lopsided and grossly abused the principle of Federal Character to which all institution have subscribed.

“The recruitment which recorded the engagement of about 4,904 workers, threw away all common sense and wisdom of national cohesion and integration by favouring some states to the detriment of others.

“We are worried that if this trend is allowed to continue, then some sections of the country may not only feel alienated but may feel insecure by the action of people in authority.

“It is inconceivable and a gross injustice for a geopolitical zone to be allocated 33.6 per cent of the total candidates recruited as against 26.2 per cent for three zones combined, North-East, North-West and North-Central.

“We further request without prejudice that all processes must involve the Federal Character Commission for advice and strict adherence to the principle of federal character as contained in our circular on guidelines and procedure for recruitment.”

Investigations revealed that the ICPC intervened in the matter following a protest by 247 of the workers whose jobs were allegedly declared irregular, null and void by the chairman of the FCSC.

A top source at the commission said the ICPC interrogated the chairman of the commission and other top officials to defend allegations that they violated the federal character principle in the last recruitment.

The ICPC had intervened following a staff audit by the FCSC in which it took a decision to sack the affected federal workers.

Consequently, agitated workers wrote the ICPC, alleging that the move to sack them was based on ethnic consideration and a plot to cover up fraud and irregularities in previous employments undertaken by the commission.

The workers showed documentary evidence of exchange of letters between the commission and the office of the Accountant General of the Federation in which the appointments were authenticated.

But the spokesperson for the FCSC, Dr. Abel Oruche, told one of our correspondents on the telephone that only those employed irregularly would be removed.

He also said he was not aware of the interrogation of the chairman or any other officer of the commission by the ICPC.

He stated, “I’m not aware that anybody was interrogated by the ICPC or whether the chairman was invited. Nobody interrogated by the ICPC or whether the chairman was invited. Nobody interrogated the chairman of the FCSC, any commissioner or any official.”

Oruche explained that some people were employed without vacancies, adding that the staff audit was aimed at fishing out such people.

He stated, “The press statement we sent was not reactive, but to explain to people what we have done and what we are doing to avoid rumour or insinuations.

“It is an ongoing audit to make sure that all those people, who were employed irregularly without existing vacancies, are removed. We didn’t issue the statement because somebody called us.”

Also, in an electronic mail sent to one of our correspondents on Sunday, Oruche stated that the FCSC chairman had said the staff audit at the federal civil service had revealed some unauthorised appointments.

Such appointments, the chairman said, had been declared null and void.

According to him, the chairman explained that the staff audit was aimed at fishing out irregular appointees and delisting them from the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System.

He stated, “The chairman maintained that this action is necessary because the appointments are not backed by any vacancy from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and as such, were not budgeted for.

Besides, they are in gross violation of the Federal Character principle.”

Politics › Fulani Herdsmen Moving With Guns Are Foreign Terrorists- Sultan Of Sokoto by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:00am On Sep 13, 2016
Sokoto—The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, has said Fulani herdsmen moving with guns, causing violence and fighting with farmers were not Nigerians but foreign terrorists.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abubakar said this in his Eid el-Kabir message to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.

According to him, these are foreigners coming into Nigeria to cause a breach of the peace.

He said: “They are, therefore, terrorists and should be treated as such by the Nigerian security agencies. The Nigerian herdsmen are very peace-loving and law-abiding.”

The Sultan, who noted with concern that some “bad eggs” had infiltrated the Fulani herdsmen, challenged security agencies to be proactive.

He, however, acknowledged that there were problems between the Fulani herdsmen and the farmers, which should only be resolved through dialogue.

The Sultan stressed the need for all Nigerians to live peacefully with one another, irrespective of any religious or ethnic differences. He said Nigeria would continue to lag behind, if there was no peace and unity.

“Our diversity should be our strength and God has not made a mistake by creating us with diverse differences,” he said.

On the economic hardship in the country, the Sultan appealed to Nigerians to go back to the farms. He also urged Nigerians to learn to be more productive, rather than solely waiting for the government to provide all their needs.

Abubakar also commended the three tiers of government for their ongoing efforts to provide succour to Nigerians. He promised to continue to offer prayers, and provide counsel to the federal and state governments.

NAN reports that the event was witnessed by second Republic President, Shehu Shagari, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, his deputy, Ahmed Aliyu, and Africa’s business mogul, Aliko Dangote, among other dignitaries.

Politics › Top 7 Most Influential Pressure Groups In Nigeria- Naij.com by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:04pm On Sep 12, 2016
Pressure group are interest groups which work to secure certain interest by influencing public policy.

President Muhammadu Buhari cannot afford to ignore these pressure groups as he presides over the affairs of Nigeria

They are not affiliated to any political party. Yet they are a powerful group who influence decisions that affect the society.

In Nigeria, there are hundreds of pressure groups who add their voice daily to public discourse and put pressure on government to advance their own interests.

Many of them are unknown to common man on the streets of Nigeria, but some of them are household names.

Read Below:

1. Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF)

The ACF is unarguably the most influential group in Northern Nigeria. The group was established protect the interest of Northern Nigeria and promote healthy co-existence that will sustain the environmental quality, livability, and economic vibrancy of the whole region. Even though the group prides itself as a pressure group that strengthens democracy and brings the North together, criticisms have always trailed their policies and stand. Many say the ACF only advances the interests of the core Hausa/Fulani states leaving behind the other Northern states who are do not have the Hausa/Fulani as their majority.

2. Ohanaeze Ndigbo

The group was created in 1976 to unify Igbos under a common umbrella body especially after the Nigerian Civil War. The group was planned to serve as a clearing house in matters affecting the interest and general welfare of the Igbos in Nigeria and the rest of the world. The group also has a youth and women wing. Although they have at different times veered of their mandate and gotten their own fair share of criticisms, the group is still generally seen and respected as the voice of the Igbos. The group has had the support and endorsement of prominent Igbo personalities like Dr Michael Okpara, Dr Pius Okigbo and Chief Kingsley Mbadiwe.

3. Afenifere

The Afenifere is a socio-cultural organization formed to advance the interest of the Yoruba people in Nigeria. Many Yorubas regard Afenifere as a legitimate group keen to serve their best interests as well as maintain the waning influences of the Yorubas in national discourse. Many also consider the group as a necessary body to preserve their identities and culture as Yorubas. In 2008, Afenifere split into two as younger elements within the group disagreed with the succession process after the death of Pa Abraham Adesanya. They went on to form their own group called ‘Afenifere Renewal Group’ which has in a way weakened the influence of the group.

4. The Middle Belt Forum (MBF)

The MBF was created as a result of the stifling of middle belt states by the Hausa/Fulani dominated ACF. The forum is an umbrella body for over 250 ethnic groups in the region who are generally seen as minority groups. The group is an off-shoot of defunct formidable groups that represented the region in the past like United Middle Belt Congress led by Joseph Tarka. In March 2005, leaders of the forum called for a restructuring of the zonal set-up in Nigeria from the present six zones to eight. The call was made as a result of the group willingness to stamp its feet in Nigeria and free itself from the domination of the core north.

5. Ijaw Youth Council (IYC)

The IYC is the most active pressure group in the South South region of Nigeria. The group has stayed above board since its formation and has not allowed government influence to derail them from their core values. The group prides itself as a civil right organization formed to advance the interests of the Ijaw ethnic group of the Niger Delta. From 2001 to 2004, it was headed by Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, until Asari split from the movement to found the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force. In 1998, the group made a bold move at the All-Ijaw Youths Conference which held in the town of Kaima, demanding for self-government and resource control for the Ijaw people.

6. Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)

CAN is an association of Christian churches in Nigeria with distinct identities, recognizable church structures and system of worship. The mission of the association is to meet regularly and take joint action on vital matters, especially on those issues which affect the Christian faith and the welfare of the generality of Nigerians. The group is widely respected and regarded as the highest Christian body of Nigeria. Five denominations of churches are represented in the association. CAN has been led at different times by respected clergymen like Prelate S. Mbang of the Methodist church and Primate J.P Akinola of the Anglican Church.

7. The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA)

The council was established to cater for; preserve, protect, promote and advance the interests of Islam and the Muslims throughout Nigeria. The council also serves as a channel of contact with government authorities on issues pertaining Islamic affairs. The NSCIA also makes efforts to promote Islamic solidarity and cooperation among Muslims in Nigeria and other parts of the world. The council is very influential and active in the public space. They also promote the continued application of Shari’ah in Nigeria and the observance of Islamic morality. The council is currently led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.

Politics › Houseboy, Driver's Names Used To Open $15m Accounts For Patience Jonathan- Punch by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:54am On Sep 12, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested four domestic servants, including a driver and a houseboy, whose names were used to open bank accounts for Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Sources within the anti-graft agency said on Sunday that the companies’ accounts were opened at Skye Bank.

The companies are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited.

The four companies’ accounts, which have since been frozen by the EFCC, have a balance of about $15m while another account, which bears Patience Jonathan’s name, has $5m.

Mr. Sammie Somiari, who deposed to an affidavit on behalf of the ex-President’s wife, said the former First Lady was the owner of the money in the accounts.

She had revealed that she gave millions of dollars to the then Special Adviser to the President on Domestic Affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa, to open accounts for her.

Somiari, however, claimed that Dudafa opened five accounts for Patience and that only one of the accounts was in her name, while the other four were opened in the names of companies belonging to Dudafa.

A detective at the EFCC, however, revealed that Dudafa used his domestic servants’ names to open the four other accounts and then deposited the money into the accounts.

The operative added, “We were investigating Dudafa when we stumbled on those four companies’ domiciliary accounts opened at Skye Bank with a balance of about $15m. On further investigation, we were able to identify the directors of the companies.

“When we detained the directors, we found out that they were Dudafa’s domestic servants. One of them was a houseboy while another one was a driver. Their photographs were used in opening the accounts and their signatures were forged.

“We found out that these domestic servants were completely innocent because they had no access to the accounts. We have since released them. The sole signatory to the accounts was Patience Jonathan and she was issued with a special card, which is accepted worldwide. She has a separate account, which was opened in her name and has a balance of $5m.”

The detective said a lawyer, Amajuoyi Briggs, who allegedly helped Dudafa to perpetrate the fraud, would also be arraigned.

It was learnt that two Skye Bank executives, Demola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi, who helped Dudafa to open the accounts on March 22, 2010, were also being investigated.

The detective added, “This is a clear case of fraud and there is no way the bank officials will say they did not know what was going on. They are under investigation and those found culpable will be arraigned.”

The EFCC operative said he could not immediately confirm if the transaction was reported to the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit.

He explained that the commission had discovered a trend which politicians used in laundering and concealing funds, saying it was becoming more rampant due to the operation of the Bank Verification Number which links all accounts owned by an individual.

He added, “What we have noticed is that in order to conceal funds, what politicians and top civil servants do is to open bank accounts in the name of family or friends and then make themselves the sole signatory to the account.

“Don’t forget that we traced about 17 bank accounts to the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (retd.).

“Often times, they do this in connivance with bank officials and that is why the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has said henceforth, whenever we are investigating a bank official, we will probe the entire bank as well because these officials usually act under the instruction of their superiors.”

Jonathan’s wife has, however, sued Skye Bank for freezing her bank accounts and giving the EFCC vital information about her finances.

She also wants the court to order Skye Bank to pay her damages in the sum of N200m for what she termed a violation of her right to own personal properties under Section 44 of the 1999 Constitution.

Politics › FG Has No Excuse Not To Fix Economy- Saraki, Catholic Bishops by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:13am On Sep 12, 2016
ILORIN — The Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, said in Ilorin, yesterday, that the Federal Government, led by All Progressives Congress, APC, has no excuse not to fix the nation’s ailing economy.

This came on a day President of Catholic Bishops, the Most Rev Ignatius Kaigama, challenged President Muhammadu Buhari on the current economic hardship facing the masses.

Saraki, who spoke at a town hall meeting with his constituents in Ilorin, said no responsible leader would abandon his followers in time of distress to wallow in suffering as being experienced currently by Nigerians.

He noted that his business in government was to improve the lives of the people, stressing: “If it is for myself and family, I don’t have to be in government.”

Tasks members of economic Team

He also warned that members of the National Economic Team must buckle up and be ready to proffer solutions to the challenges confronting the economy, saying any of them not willing to offer personal sacrifice would have scores to settle with the Senate.

Urges Nigerians to exercise restraint

Saraki, who admonished Nigerians to exercise restraint over ongoing efforts to find solution to the problems, assured that the Senate under his leadership, would not rest until solution was found.

He said: “It is a challenge to fix the problems and improve the nation’s economy. We have no excuse not to fix Nigeria’s economy but we need to be more patient in our agitation.

“It is important and of necessity to bring about solution. No responsible leader that will allow his people to suffer just because the economy is not doing well.

“Until we find solution to Nigeria’s problems, we will not rest. It is a challenge to improve the nation’s economy, and that is the primary reason people voted us into power. We can no longer engage in blame game; we are here to fix the problems. By the special grace of Almighty, we shall succeed.”

He also expressed concern that Nigerians were in the habit of aiding the economy of other nations with unbridled patronage of foreign goods at the expense of locally made products.

He said the National Assembly had provided requisite legal frameworks to strengthen the campaign for patronage of made in Nigeria goods.

On crisis over Senate leadership

On the crisis over Senate leadership, Saraki said those orchestrating his travails should withdraw from the plot as all evidences in public domain had vindicated him.

He stated further that anyone hatching a plot to pull him down was embarking on a fruitless adventure, saying rather than nursing political vendetta, efforts should be geared towards stabilizing the polity.

His words: “Those orchestrating my travails are wasting their precious time. What has been presented so far in public domain showed that we have nothing to hide. All they are doing is just to distract us, truth has begun to emerge.”

He also noted that members of the Senate made him the Senate President, saying: “When we got to the Senate, my colleagues felt that I, as an individual, Kwara State and Kwara Central, decided to make me the Senate President. For the first time in Kwara State, we are making history by producing the Senate President.

“The highest position before now for the state was the position of the majority leader held by my late father, Dr Olusola Saraki. The Senate presidency does not belong to Bukola Saraki, it belongs to the entire people of the state, but with particular reference to my people of Kwara central.

“The legacy we left behind as governor of Kwara State for eight years is there for people to see. No contractor gave any kick back to me as governor, and my being governor was to improve the lives of the people. And that is exactly what we did by laying a good foundation for the people to feel the impact of governance.”

On renewed hostility in N-Delta

Speaking on the renewed hostility in the Niger Delta, Saraki stated that only dialogue would stem the rising militancy.

Explaining that the evils in the region had grounded crude oil production from 2.2million barrels daily to 900,000 barrels per day, the Senate president maintained that engaging the concerned people in the area in talks would arrest the situation, adding that the same method was used during Yar’Adua’s government, which worked.

He also advocated that teachers salaries become an item in the capital expenditure in the budget of states and the Federal Government in order to ensure prompt payment of salaries to teachers.

Saraki added that it was useless to build classrooms and equip laboratories when teachers, who would impact knowledge, were not happy because they were owed salaries.

Catholic Bishops challenge Buhari on current economic hardship

Meanwhile, President of Catholic Bishops, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari on the current economic hardship facing the masses.

He spoke at the second plenary of the opening mass of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigerian, CBCN, 2016 held at the Scared Heart Cathedral Church Akure, Ondo State.

Kaigama said the President had a lot to do to bring back the good old days for Nigerians.

“A lot should be done by the Federal Government to alleviate the current economic hardship on the masses,” he said.

He, however, assured that better days were ahead, considering promises from the President.

“When we met with the President in May, various challenges facing us as a country were raised and he assured us that he would act soon,”
he added.

Kaigama, however, advocated an all-inclusive governance in a bid to fast-track national development

Mimiko calls for true federalism

In his reaction, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State appealed to the Bishops to join in the call for the restructuring of Nigeria to reflect true federalism as the only panacea for the growth and development of the country.

Mimiko said government had a responsibility to curtail religious bigots in the country and urged religious leaders to continue to pray for the nation

He said: “The problem of corruption facing Nigeria can be addressed with the right policy in place but inter-religious conflicts may lead the country into more danger that might be difficult to overcome.

“Government has responsibility of bringing these bigots to book. We are not comfortable with what the bigots are doing. What they are doing is most worrisome in Nigeria. Church has major role to play by praying for Nigeria “

Mimiko charged churches to always stand up when they see abuse of the secularity in Nigeria.

He said: “We must stand to resist the few bigots, who want to destroy Nigeria,” noting that deepening inequality in the society also fuels radicalism in the society.”

The governor also called for true federalism, saying: “Nigeria’s Federal Government is biting more than it can chew with the larger percentage of the resources at the disposal of the Federal Government to the detriment of the federating units.”

Look beyond party affiliation, Ekweremadu, Mark tell Buhari

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, also, yesterday, urged President Buhari to, in the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir celebration, look beyond the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and constitute a special economic squad to rescue the country from the present economic meltdown.

Ekweremadu also called on all Muslims to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir to pray for the nation’s quick recovery from its current economic recession, expressing confidence that Nigerians, working together, could heal the nation’s economy.

Ekweremadu, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Uche Anichukwu, noted that prayers alone were not enough since Islam advocated both work and prayer, stressing that the present economic challenges were not beyond redemption, but could actually become the nation’s turning point away from an oil-driven economy to real prosperity, if the right policies and structures were put in place.

He said: “I warned long ago that elections had come and gone and we should move from politics to governance. It is time for governance and we must bring all capable hands on the deck, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic backgrounds.

“Nigerians are facing hard times; and all they are interested in are positive results and urgent succour. They don’t care whether you are All Progressives Congress, APC, or Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and whether you are North or South. The good news is that capable hands abound in the country. We must assemble them and give them both the mandate and liberty to help the president’s team to revamp the nation’s economy.”

Commends security agencies

Ekweremadu, who also commended the nation’s security agencies for the security arrangements put in place to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration, stressed that the war against insurgency and crime was beyond partisan politics because the terrorists and criminals don’t consider party, religion or ethnicity in their orgies of violence and blood-letting against the nation.

He added: “My heart goes out in a special way to the men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, who are waging the war against insurgents in the North-East. Through the successes of Operation Lafiya Dole, which has been able to consolidate on the efforts of the last administration, they have made it possible for the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, to begin their homeward journey. This is commendable and their families deserve all the love we can give at Eid-el Kabir.

“I commend the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin; and, indeed, the entirety of the nation’s Armed Forces for the progress in this regard. It shows that Nigerians always win whenever they come together with determination on any matter whatsoever.”

….Mark too

Similarly, former Senate President, David Mark, said if the present government must get out of the economic quagmire, Buhari must reach out to other Nigerians outside his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to help solve the problem.

According to him, Nigeria has a reservoir of intellectuals and renowned economists who can be engaged to fashion out a blueprint needed to get the nation out of the quagmire.

Mark said it had become very imperative for the administration and Nigerians to come up with strategies that would help Nigeria as a country overcome the present economic woes.

He said: “This is not an issue of political allegiance or loyalty. This is the struggle to save our nation. In this battle to salvage Nigeria from economic woes , every one must be his brother’s keeper.

“This is a war against hunger, disease and squalor. It demands the input of all, irrespective of religious or political affiliations. It’s a war that must be collectively fought for our survival.”

Senator Mark, who urged Nigerians to renew their indomitable spirit and rise to the current socio-political challenges and economic recession, said: “We cannot afford to give in to failure on account of economic recession. The only option we have is to evolve strategies to over come the odds.

“Bad as the situation is, the difficulties have its positive sides as they demand our creativity to think outside the box for survival.”

Mark in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Paul Mumeh, tasked the government to lead the way by creating an enabling environment for citizens to pursue and realize their ambitions unhindered.

He said: “No one can pretend or shy away from the realties on ground that our country is facing hard times. What is required now is to confront the challenges honestly and genuinely.

“One of the ways to face the task may of a necessity require government to take a hard look at its policies and programmes and possibly review it in tandem with the present circumstances.

“Senator Mark believes that Nigeria has a reservoir of intellectuals and renowned economists, who can be engaged to fashion out a blue print that is needed to get us out of the quagmire.”

Politics › I Rather Not Govern Than See Edo People's Blood- Obaseki by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:56pm On Sep 11, 2016
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that he would not govern on the blood of his people.

He spoke in Lagos on Sunday against the backdrop of the postponement of Edo State governorship election by the Independent National Election Commission, INEC.

Obaseki said: “We were ready for the elections, but when the police belatedly raised the issue of security, there is nothing we could do.

[color#000099]“I will rather not be a governor than to have the blood of many people shed by miscreants that were imported into Edo State to cause havoc”.

Citing the violence in Rivers State, Obaseki queried: “How many people have been tried or charged to court for the wanton killings and violence in Rivers State, let alone being convicted?

“How many people have been arrested for the blatant murder of the Port Harcourt lawyer?”

“These imported hoodlums have nothing to lose, they are not from Edo, and would not think twice before killing our people the way they killed people in Rivers State”, he added.

Obaseki maintained that though it was disappointing for the election to have been postponed as the APC was coasting home to victory, however, the APC will win the election convincingly any day or time.

[color#990000]“The postponement was just a mere shift of the doomsday for the People’s Democratic Party and others.

“The people of Edo State have made up their mind never to go back to the dark era. They know me, they know the lineage of my family, they can trace me from four five generations back, they know I don’t have a violent past.

“I have never been charged or tried for violent behavior. Let me assure you that we will win the election and win hands-down”, he said.

People often think I am suffering from some kind of ailment when they see me use the convenience so often. I always wish I could hold the pee for long
at times colleagues at work thinks same about me, that's the disadvantage of drinking too much water but, I don't mind the demerit because the merit big pass.. smiley

Be careful not to drink too much of water. It also has its side effects which may be fatal. You may alter the balance of your body electrolytes which may lead to death when you drink too much.

Politics › Boko Haram: Two Soldiers Killed, Six Injured As Army Confronts Insurgent Sect.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:48am On Sep 11, 2016
– Two soldiers have died in a gun duel between Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and Boko Haram fighters

– Six other soldiers were reportedly injured in the bloody confrontation

– The Nigerian Airforce carried out an aerial bombardment of 12 Boko Haram camps

The Nigerian army has announced the loss of two its soldiers attached to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF). They were killed in a fierce battle with Boko Haram insurgents within the northeast.

Vanguard reports that they were six others were also injured in the confrontation with Boko Haram terrorists, on Saturday, September 10.

In the same vein, the air component of the MNJTF, led by the Nigerian Airforce, carried out aerial bombardment of 12 different camps of the terrorists located at border areas with Niger, Chad and Cameroon, destroying the camps and killing some of the terrorists.

The development was disclosed by Col Muhammed Dole, spokesman for the MNJTF, who said that scores of the terrorists also surrendered to troops when they saw that there was no way out for them.

The statement read: “The effects of difficult terrains and unpredictable weather conditions continue to pose serious challenges to the conduct of Operation Gama Wiki.

“However, despite these limitations for the ground forces, the air component of the operation, through successful combined air operations, continue to deny the terrorists freedom of action and movement within the battle fields.

“Recent air strikes and simultaneous clearing operations on 12 identified Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) camps and hideouts have greatly shattered their cohesion.

“Moreover, continuous blockade of the terrorists main supply routes and arrest of their logistics suppliers caused serious economic hardship and led to the surrender of many terrorists in different locations in the Area of Operation (AOO) of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

“Additionally, the troops of Sector 4 in Diffa Niger Republic tracked and neutralized 4 Boko Haram Terrorists suspected to have attacked the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp and Two (2) others were arrested at Tumoua village”.

Meanwhile, the border town of Damasak has been finally recaptured and occupied by the Multi National Joint Taskforce (MNJTF) on July 28, Thursday.

Damasak is a trading town in Nigeria’s Borno state near Niger’s border and is about 200km (120 miles) from the state’s capital Maiduguri.

The town was overrun by the Boko Haram insurgents, who began their insurgency in 2009 to create an Islamic state, at the end of 2014.

It is one of the last frontiers of Boko Haram terrorists. Colonel Muhammad Dole, spokesman of MNJTF, revealed this in a brief statement to PRNigeria saying that the soldiers have also cleared the terrorists from the surrounding villages.
