Career / Re: How Lucrative Is Pharmacy As A Career? by Bellasharonne(f): 10:02am On Apr 29, 2016
eridos:
Pharmacy my dear Pharmacy!!!
Every parent wants his child to read pharmacy nowadays cos it's lucrative, the day of our induction igbo Men came in to look for female pharmacist to get married to so they can use their license to import and export drugs.it wasn't a bed of roses though,i remember the tension of pre-qualifiying exams and professionals, the cramming of structures, the reading of vague things which were incoherent cos we couldn't see most of them.
Thank God dose days are all over.i started working before I was inducted into the Pharmacist council of Nigeria. Without a certificate and a license, and I was earning more than most bankers.i went ahead to do my internship at Federal Neuropsychiatric hospital lagos, was also working in a community Pharmacy in the evening.anyone who knows Federal Neuropsychiatric hospital Lagos knows it's the Highest Paying for Pharmacy interns throughout the country.as an intern Pharmacist( A Pupil Pharmacist) I was earning more dan 200k in a month from my 2 jobs.after my one year internship I proceeded to do my Nysc. I was posted to Lagos "don't ask me how I got lagos"!!i served in an health centre in eti osa locaal government in the morning and in the evening I go to my community Pharmacy I was close to 200k with all my allowances from FG which is the 19,800 local government which pays 30k and my dear community Pharmacy that paid me the largest chunk of my salary I won't tell u how much I earned from my Pharmacy but all my allowance for the month was close to 200k. I bought my first car during my internship and also rented an apartment on my own with my money.with no assistance from my parents. Now am done with service I got another Job in one of the Chain Pharmacies in Nigeria.ever since I graduated I've been smiling to the bank. Alert has not stopped entering my account.
My license was paid for and put in use by my company apart from my monthly salary.
And the opportunities are enormous u can grow, have ur Pharmacy, decide to import drugs, go into politics.being a Pharmacist makes u street wise.cos uve been tutored informally under so many aspects
Business administration, marketyn. In Abroad Pharmacist are one of the highest Paid professionals u cud switch over and go practice there. Just a few exams to convert you and enable u practice dere

I gave this little epistle for young ones who are confused of a career choice.Pharmacy is one u won't regret. It's a stepping stone to greater achievements.so if u feel u have what it takes give it a shot and follow ur dream.i feel fulfilled adding value to the life's of my patients and for them cuming back to thank me that the drug I gave them worked.makes me feel I ddnt make a mistake reading Pharmacy.

Mind you the profession still has some short comings as no profession is 100 percent without hazzles.but the future is bright for young Pharmacist.
I Rep Pharmacy class of 2012.Madonna University Elele Rivers state#
As Men of Honour we join hands. it's so good to see this post of my profession and contribute.

Politics / 200 Villagers Kidnapped In Gumsuri Village by Bellasharonne(f): 5:34pm On Dec 18, 2014

Militants have stormed a remote village in north-eastern Nigeria, killing at least 33 people and kidnapping at least 200, a survivor has told the BBC.

He said that suspected Boko Haram militants had seized young men, women and children from Gumsuri village.

The attack happened on Sunday but news has only just emerged, after survivors reached the city of Maiduguri.

Meanwhile, Cameroon's army says it has killed 116 Nigerian militants who had attacked one of its bases, AFP reports.

Residents told the BBC the armed militants attacked the border town of Amchide on Wednesday, arriving in two vehicles with many others on foot.

They raided the market area, setting fire to shops and more than 50 houses.

No group has said it carried out either attack but officials have blamed Nigerian-based Boko Haram militants.

More than 2,000 people have been killed in militant violence this year alone, mostly in north-eastern Nigeria, near the border with Cameroon.

Analysis: Will Ross, BBC News, Lagos

This is yet another abduction on a staggering scale - one of the worst since the Chibok girls were seized in April.

It might seem surprising that it has taken four days for news of the killings and abductions to break.

That points to just how dangerous that area of north-east Nigeria still is despite promises of a massive military deployment there.

Gumsuri is about 70km (43 miles) from Maiduguri, the state capital, but survivors had to travel hundreds of kilometres via a circuitous route to avoid areas overrun with jihadists in order to reach the city and alert people of the horrors they had witnessed.

The vigilantes in the same village has reportedly fought off Boko Haram before but this time they were overpowered.

There has been no word from the military or the government and you have to wonder whether in any other country in the world such a horrific event could take place without a single word from the authorities.

The villagers who were kidnapped were from Gumsuri, not Bintiri, as was earlier reported by the BBC.

The survivor of the Gumsuri attack said that afterwards he returned to the village and helped bury 33 bodies.

He said he went from house-to-house to ascertain how many people were missing.

His testimony was confirmed to BBC Hausa by a local official. Neither person wanted their names to be published.

An official told the AFP news agency that a vigilante group that had protected the village from previous attacks was overpowered.

"After killing our youths, the insurgents have taken away our wives and daughters," a resident who fled to Maiduguri told AFP.

In Cameroon, the army said vehicles from its elite battalion had been caught in an ambush on Wednesday.

"At the same time... the Amchide military base was attacked by hundreds of fighters from the sect, but the response from our defence forces was instant and appropriate," AFP quotes it as saying.

One Cameroonian soldier was killed and an officer is missing, it reports.
