Fashion / My Hair Growth Challange Regimen by Belleladiva(f): 7:26pm On Jul 11, 2016
How many nights have you spent on YouTube watching videos of beautiful babes with really long hair and just wishing you can have that kind of hair. I know I've done that several times. I can list all the essential hair care tips in my sleep. Yeah. That's how much I'm invested in getting long hair. I think on some level, I imagine my goal to be a getway that will finally set me free from sew in weaves and braids. I mean if I can wear my hair out in any style I want that's the dream right? Well the mistake that most of us make is following other people's regimens and buying the same products that they use without realising that everybody's hair is different. What works for them might not work for you so you have to take the time to really study your hair to figure out what makes it thrive and what slows down the growth. For instance I finally figured out that I have low porosity hair, my hair hates water but it loves oils. However, I've finally developed a regimen that will get me to the length I've been longing for. This is more of a hair growth challange, I'll use this regimen for 6 months and at the end, I'll record the length of growth I've been able to retain. For this six months, I'll wear a wig and have my hair cornrowed and covered with a wig cap.

2. Personally I love this second look. A t-shirt dress is like one of the most comfortable clothing one can own. It's super stylish and comfy. What else can one ask for? Just add a pair of sneakers for an athleisure look and jazz it up with this cute lips bag. And you are good to go girl!

Fashion / Lose Weight, Get Glowing Skin And Healthy Hair All At Once by Belleladiva(f): 11:57am On Jul 04, 2016
I love looking good, it's one of my personal obsessions and I believe everyone should always invest in achieving the best version of their physical appearance. In other to do that, maintaing a healthy weight should be the ideal goal. There was a time in my life when I was obsessed with looking like a super model. Think Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Miranda Kerr. That was fun though I later realised that it was totally unrealistic for my body type. I mean if I weighed 50-55 kg then I would be all head. Lol. So I decided to settle for a weight that would make me look more healthy and normal. I had to take my BMI into consideration. I also wanted to eat for glowy skin and healthy hair. So I ran to Google and read tons of articles and I came up with a list of foods that will help me threefold.
1. Help me lose/maintain my weight
2. Give me glowing skin
3. Encourage healthy hair growth

1. Avocado
This fruit packs a punch. It is high in fiber and that means it will help to regulate your bowel movements. Emptying your bowels on a regular basis will help minimize bloating. It will also make you feel less hungry. That means you are less likely to overeat and gain extra weight. Avocado is also one of the popular foods that is recommended for healthy glowing skin. You can even use it as a face mask or a hair mask. Some of the nutrients in avocado is believed to encourage healthy hair growth. So I always make sure to stock up on avocados weekly and I eat 2 or 3 daily. It is quite tasty too.

2. Green tea
I wouldn't bore you by listing all the benefits of green tea. I believe it is common knowledge. But the fact that it is a fat shedding ninja, gives me amazing glowing skin and also contributes to my hair growth makes it the holy grail of all foods. I mean it is just fabulous. I take 4 cups of green tea every single day. I don't add any sweetner because I don't want to lower its potency. Start drinking green tea today and you'll thank me later. I also use it to rinse my hair after deep conditioning. Sometimes I use it as a toner. I mean this tea is just AWESOME!

3. Carrots
This crunchy goodness will give you glowing skin overtime and the fiber it contains will aid your weight loss journey. But do you know that carrot contributes to hair growth and thicker hair? You can use it as a deep condiotioning treatment to prevent hair loss and shedding. Blend or juice a carrot or two and add a little honey and olive oil and voila, you'll have an all natural hair treatment. You use carrots in your smoothies or just drink the juice. The beta carotene it contains will help revitalise your body internally and externally.

Fashion / Take Your Skincare Game To The Next Level by Belleladiva(f): 6:17pm On Jul 03, 2016
One of the reasons why I read beauty blogs is to discover the skincare secrets that I might not be aware of. Over time, I've learnt that the secret to having clear, glowing, flawless skin is consistency.

You can have the most expensive skincare products or master the most intricate skin care routines but if you are not consistent, it would be very hard to see results. The key to flawless skin is painstakingly sticking to your routine. Trust me, it will pay off in the long run. One of my skincare goals is to reach the stage where I no longer feel the need to wear makeup. I know it sounds far fetched but I think it's achieveable if I'm willing to do what it takes. So i'm going to incorporate the following steps into my skincare routine till I get the results I want.

EXFOLIATION
Due to the fact that I have oily skin, this is one step that i cant afford to miss. I exfoliate at least three times a week or more. (I'll share the products I use in another post.) Exfoliation really makes all the difference in my skincare game. It helps other skincare products do their job. I mean this is basically the foundation of my skincare routine. It's one step I can't afford to skip.

OIL CLEANSING
When I heard about this method of cleansing, I was a little bit skeptical. I mean I had already had an oily face so why would I want to add more oil to that? But then I decided to just give it a try and OMG the result was amazing. I've never bought another cleanser since then. You should definitely check this out.

P.S. I use makeup wipes to remove my makeup before doing an oil cleanse.

DIY APPLE CIDER VINEGAR TONER
This is basically the best toner for oily skin if I do say so myself. Words can't describe how my skin looked after three days of using this toner. It was super freaking awesome! My skin had a glow like that of a new born baby. This toner is also easy to make. Simply add one part of organic apple cider vinegar to three parts of distilled water and voila, you'll have an awesome toner at your disposal.

Fashion / How To Make Your Moisturizer More Effective by Belleladiva(f): 4:51pm On Jul 02, 2016
Have you ever read awesome reviews about a particular product and you were so eager to buy it only to use it and discover that it is not as effective as you were led to believe? Well, welcome to the club. In this particular post, I will discuss some of the reasons why moisturizers are not very effective.

Grab a cup of coffe, pull up your chair and read.

EXFOLIATION
I can't stress this enough. Exfoliation is one of the essential keys to having great skin. A celebrity skincare specialist who has Kim Kardashian as a client once outlined 3 basic skin care steps. EXFOLIATE. CLEANSE. MOISTURIZE. When you exfoliate you slough off dead skin cells that may get in the way of your moisturizer penetrating your skin. So, it's essential to invest in exfoliating soaps, masks and even tools. The goal is to make sure that nothing gets in the way.

Health / Simple Eating Habits That Will Change Your Life by Belleladiva(f): 1:28am On Jul 02, 2016
Raise your hand if you want to eat any thing you want and not gain weight. It would be really magical if that could happen. But this is real life, so let's get
realistic. I've had my fair share of unwanted weight gains. I've tried a lot of diet trying to lose the unwanted pounds but it was really gruelling and I couldn't keep up. I knew I had to come up with a plan. I can't afford not to eat my favourite meals and I still wanted to maintain a healthy weight. So I decided to research simple steps I can take to "eat my cake and not look like i did". So here's the breakdown.

CHEW WITH YOUR MOUTH CLOSED
When I first heard this, i thought it was funny. Apparently, when you are eating and talking at the same time, you'll take in a lot of air and this air would go right into your stomach and make you bloated. It sounds ridiculous but it's true. Resist the temptation to chew and talk. You might bite your tongue or take in unwanted air.

DRINK MORE WATER
I know you've heard this sermon a lot but trust me it really helps. Dehydration is the last thing you want to deal with when you are trying to lose weight. It leads to constipation and water retention.
You shouldn't force yourself to drink tons of water though, drink when you are thirsty. I always drink water first thing in the morning, before a meal and after my workout session. I drink about a gallon of water a day. What I do is to fill up five 75cl bottles with water, I drink one in the morning and I take the rest whenever I'm thirsty during the day. This way, I can monitor the amount of water I've had in a day.

INTERMITTENT FASTING
I'll expand on this in another post. This basically means that you dont eat food for a certain period of time in a day. I skip breakfast almost all the time but I make sure I drink enough water so I dont feel hungry. You can be super flexible here and choose the time frame that works for you.

TAKE GREEN TEA
I know a lot has been written about the benefits of green tea but I feel like people don't say it enough. Green tea is absolutely amazing. It does wonders for my body. I take 3-4 cups everyday and it really helps with my weight loss goals. It also keeps my appetite subdued so I don't overeat.

DRINK WATER IN BETWEEN MEALS
I'm not a certified nutritionist but this trick always helps me to eat less. Once I've had a certain amount of food, I drink water and that fills me up a bit. You would be tempted to overeat if you don't drink water between meals. Try to incorporate this trick when next you are eating and you'll notice a difference.
