tete7000:

Fine to know we have rule out pride, however my main concern here is this: it is true there are many bad people out there but at one point in time one will always be lucky to encounter that one or two reliable person(s) that can be trusted. You met your husband to be and you are really willing to give him yourself in marriage, the same way I believe you should have met that one friend too that you can connect with. Maybe you are allowing your past experience to becloud your judgement and thus you are afraid to associate at all. My argument concerning issues like this is that if we say everyone is bad then we run the risk of saying we are the only righteous person around - doing this will inadvertently amount to being proud and pompous . In the scripture, Elijah the prophet made the same mistake when he told God he is the only righteous one left but God reminded him he has reserved for himself seven thousand (7000) in Israel who have never bowed down their head to or kissed baal (1 Kings 19: 14-19) So I still really want to insist, there would have been one, two person(s) you have met or seem to admire her personality whether at work, in school, in your neighbourhood, in church; try and reach out and embrace if need be. Don't let your past hold you back. However just like I have earlier pointed out, this issue will still always come up in marriage. You are not marrying your husband alone, you marry him and his people. You ll need to learnt to meet people halfway. While maintaining your principle, you will always need to accomodate people with their baggages. I am not however judging you, I have no such prerogative. We are all just together in this trying to find a way around a complicated issue and I am trying to analyse it the way I see things, though I may be wrong.
i love your perception. So enlightening. God Bless you.

yimu too.i didn't say bridesmaids is compulsory but it's necessary. How can you say you don't have friends. Na so your character bad reach? Haba. Not even like 3dependable friends office colleagues school friends ex class mates roommates or few church friends. Abeg slow down joor. If that's how everybody lived their lives who will you see to be there for you to help you hug you, confide in,gist with, shop with or pray with before your husba came along. Which kain life be that one.

The point is friends have a role to play in every man and woman's life. The bad friends give us experience and lessons and the good ones give us memories. Both are important to make us more resilient when life throws stones at us
From a touched heart,''Thank you''. I just learnt something.

UniLag? OP you know any one who successfully finished MSc from there or just hear-say?

Is UniLag even a good school for Msc,let alone considering how fast their Msc programmes are?

never used an iPhone (so I can't tottaly judge it)performance is great(obviously it should be coz the 5s to 6 and 6+ are all premium devices) but I feel lyk most on this thread aren't comparing what you get with high end android devices instead using midrange to low end techno device.since u seem interested in the 5s which should be cheaper than the iPhone 6 then the best android competition would be xperia z2 or z3 and/or the z compact.u'll get a premium build with these phones also but they also come with better battery life than the 5s,bigger screens, and waterproofing(if u're into that kind of thing).they also have that wow factor u need and are either receiving lollipop update or close to receiving it.iOS pros are faster updates and thanks to their closed ecosystem and less devices for developers to optimize for they also get some apps first although the gap with android has greatly been reduced in the past few years to almost nothing. cons are the closed system. also make it harder to share files.although jailbreaking can solve this u first stand the risk of bricking ur absolutely expensive device and apple usually cancel these jailbreaks extremely regularly e.g if u jailbroke at iOS 8.0 a month later 8.1 might come out and will canceled that exploit and on on on it will go with 8.2 8.3 and if u choose to not update Apple usually forces developers to release apps and games with the latest iOS version unlike android were most apps are released with support for ICS(2011 or 2012 for its release date I think)and above.another con is Apple tend to give u enough in some aspects but not the best eg 300ppi retina screen were most droids are past the 400ppi mark and now even 500ppi.apple sticks with 8mp camera, its great but the 20mp camera of these xperias and other flagship droids can capture more details and shoot 4k videos.in the end if u buy an iPhone 5s apart from some minor iOS restrictions u won't regret it,but for the same price u can probably get more for ur money and these xperia devices will definitely do that along with that premium wow factor
please LG g3, Note 3 or sony Z3; which would you advise(a student)? Thanks.

Education / Re: 11 Career Success Tips For Students by BeloHorizonte14: 6:56pm On Mar 13, 2015
Going through this topic/post,had to pause, look to the ceiling with teary eyes-- don't know if it will be right of me to ask for a second chance or not.

I loved mathematics like crazy, wanted to study mechanical engineering, but was offered Industrial Chemistry. The pains of spending another year at home with my parents was too much for me to handle, had to accept the admission offer.

First year, had a gp of 4.03 (wanted to do faculty transfer, but my HoD wasn't around to sign me out on time, coupled with other processes). Second year,3.98 gp. Third year, oops! My gp came crashing down to 3.00 (at this time, chemistry was so boring and looked abstract) while in my final year,my gp was worse(cried bitterly). Had to settle for 2.2.

For almost 6months before my youth service,i had lost touch with reality (fear of facing my parents with the 2.2).

But here i am now, though unhappy, looking for ways to redeem time having missed several opportunities; had to settle for a pdg in Chemical engineering, and afterwards seek for MSc.

What i am trying to say is this; 'know thyself' and 'never you sacrifice your happiness for anything'.

Thanks xfire.

Just a tip. I've interviewed so many fresh inexperienced graduates based on CVs they submit. One thing i can say is that, only about 3% of the candidates that i go through their CVs get called for an interview. One major killer in your CV is when you do not carefully edit for grammatical errors. Could give you more tips if you are interested
Sir,i am interested.

This thread makes front page again (post Tsunami). Wow. I started this thread not know I was going to impact on lives to this extent. I just wanted to contribute my window's mite.
Thanks to all those that have motivated, appreciated and encouraged me one way or the other. I am yet to be criticized or discouraged by anyone on Nairaland. It's quite unusual, and I am grateful. Even Seun now follows me. I'm honoured.

I have been inactive for a while, bugged down with work and other life necessities. But I promise to be back and better! Lots of lessons to share...

I also like to say a big thank you to all those that have kept the thread alive...bigdreams, darellrivers, nabsprada, 2sexy1, crudedude, McWhillion and a host of others too numerous to mention.

Cheers....
Sir,thank you for such a platform you have provided to help counsel and instruct nairalanders from your wealth of experience.

Lol..
I'm tired of people who have never used a windows phone giving incorrect opinions about them. angry

Who told you you can't rename files on windows phone?
Who said you can't watch any video format with them? I watch all movies on my phone and there has only been one single video that I've encountered any issues with!
No or maybe only few Android too can play all file formats without apps.
My phone pops up on the PC instantly after a USB connection.

Did you know WPs now features an official file manager?

The only reason I could pick up an Android right now is the more apps selection.

I mean my Lumia 520 surprises me with its fluidity after over a year and several heavy updates.

Make sure you know what's happening with windows phones before criticizing them.
please forgive my ignorance, going by this post, which OS is the way forward for a student?

I need a durable(in terms of not crashing under heavy use/software updates),reliable(rich in ''useful'',not by having more, and ''genuine'' apps),file sharing and downloads(all file formats). Thank you.

ITbomb:

With android you can do more with your documents and video.
If you download a book from Internet with some numbers as file name, you can change that file name to something you can remember just like you do on desktop, it is almost impossible in Lumia.
There are certain videos format that cannot play on Lumia and your choice of video players are very limited, which means that if the inbuilt Lumia video player cannot play it then there is nothing you can do about it.
If you are the type that works on both laptop and phone, you should know that Android is the best in terms of establishing links and exchanging files either thru bluetooth or USB. When you plug in the USB, your files would be ready in less than 10 secs, not waiting for sync and dialog boxes.
Numerous low data charges options available for student life.
Since most of your friends would likely be using Android, collecting materials, books and educational softwares would be easier than being the odd man out.

Android is the best for students. Get a good android with good ram and battery, not all these N5 android around
Thank you Sir. I appreciate

Don't buy any Lumia Phone that doesn't have 1gb as it ram and must be window 8.1. You can buy any Lumia Phone that have ..30 at their last two digits that is, Lumia 730, 830, 930, 1030, but better still buy Microsoft Lumia 535 it has all functions exactly like that 930.
what about lumia 1520?
