@ciscostaz, "in addition, I use gtbank. I called their customer care but they couldnt help me. I was informed they have been having such complaints from customers trying to buy items from google. So please guys help me out." I had similar problem when I wanted to start using my visa card to purchase from the android market. I was later advise to ensure all the details on my google wallet are exactly as it is on my details with my bank. I did that, made corrections and my card started working. My visa card to linked to my domiciliary account which is debited for all my purchases. |
the sales figures says it all. Samsung. They have shipped far more than any other OEM. Although some people complained of the "plastiky" nature, its all in reducing hardware weight. Part of why they make smart phones so light and thin. HTCs are beautiful too though. But can be bulky and their batteries run out faster than those of Samsung. The super amoled plus screen of Samsung is incomparable. |
thanks for the response Tumababa. How does this compare to spire for iphone? |
guys , is it a stable and perfectly working siri that you get doing this or can be hit and miss thing? Since you are saying it hasn't worked for 3days. |
yes O. I learned same from two friends of mine. A Samsung staff said all the major dealers have sold out . They are currently restocking though. The phone is a huge success and more people are buying it of shelves faster than the dealers can restock. Its part of same reason that Samsung has shelved early introduction of the sgs3. To make room for more sales of the sgs2. |
the sgs2 is a great phone. you cannot regret getting one. I have had mine for 4months and yet to experience any lag/freeze. I do a lot of rooting and flashing roms. But yet to have sudstantial reason to root this sgs2. it performs out of the box. The battery life is about the best any android can offer you. way better than when I was using the sgs. The super amoled plus screen helps reduce power consumption. For those concerned about the yellow indicator after rooting, its easily removable if you check the thread in xda. |
idbguy has said quite a lot and he is very correct. although some of the issues he mentioned has been taken care of in updates. mine is on 2.3.6. I believe sgs2 is the best phone for 2011. its got it all. beautiful camera, great screen estate, droids are not so battery efficient but i bet the sgs2 os about the most efficient out there. i get average of 12hrs medium - heavy use. the screen is also very strong. my unit has fallen a few times and no scratch. go ahead and get yourself one. you will never regret it. Even in the year 2012, sgs2 will still stand tall among new releases i bet you. |
lets call a spade a spade. glo was a great network up on till 3months ago. now, their network is shitty especially for data usage. I have been using glo for years. its never been this bad. most times calls don't go through or cannot get initiated. data that use to be on 3g is perpetually on edge now. I have been using my mtn instead now. |
hi tumababa. please I have a little different problem. just got an iphone4 and its network locked. I cannot even get the firmware version or baseband. its yet to be activated. will request that I activate once I put it on or connect to iTunes. I need to jailbreak and unlock it. the carton read at&t. any solution? |
unlocking any blackberry can be done free on this site http://www.freemyblackberry.com. I bought a T-Mobile locked bb 9300 and just went to the website, following their instructions, i got my unlock code in 24hrs all free of charge. |
the best video I have seen in recent time. the drama is part of what made it thick. I can watch it over and over again and still have my great moments. |
We don't all have get worked up and start calling ourselves names over a simple argument. The OP says "how silly is the iPhone ". Lets keep it within those walls. We all agree iPhone (ESP from the iphone4 up) represent beautiful deviCes that function well. Ones the buyer is ready to accommodate the restrictions. No problem. That was probably one thing the OP wasn't prepared for when she got the phone and now getting her upset. Just offer her the way around getting the task she wanted done and we all go in peace. I have sgs2 while I got the iphone4 for wifie. Both devices have their pros and cons. But for my needs, I will rather the sgs2 over the iphone4. That doesn't make the iphone4 less in anyway. Just my preference. |
i use andriod , but i've a stint with the iphone 4 while my wife owned one before switching to the bb craze. Iphone is a lovely phone and apple makes one of the best hardwares definitely. i think no particular phone can be said to be better than any really. it all depends on what works for the user. iphone offers tremendous user experience and so does a whole lot of other OSs. I did frown at my wife switching to bb but you know what, bb does it for her. her mobile experience is far more reach now than while using the iphone. Just like me, i love my galaxy s. It gets the job done for me easily. |
@linkin8k, if you are not convinced enough do not part with money. Just look for a friend you can trust that is heading Lagos and let him help you pick it up. Cash and carry. Have you guys installed the new android market? Pretty cool shey! The new UI makes you wanna just go around the market and view new stuff. Well categorized for easy navigation. Some people reported its kind of slow but I don't think so. Probably because of the heavy pictures.

Sorry for posting twice. The initial post indicated stalled. That was why I tried it a second time. |
Guys, what is your take on google+ ? I got on my invite on XDA-DEVELOPERS, you can hop there if you need one.

I have been having same problems too. It all started about a week ago. All was well before then. But i noticed whatever the problem was has been fixed for my office area in apapa but not yet in surulere. i used to have 3g in both locations with speedy downloads until about a week ago when connection kept disconnecting all the time. But like i said, 3g is back and almost stable in apapa. But in Surulere, all i see now is edge if at all. I called their customer care to report the problem and as ever those guys just have any clue. |
this is not good at all. the economy is bad enough. why make hard times harder? why cant i decided to sell my own used car to my cousin if i so wish? so i buy a car from the U.S now, i will have to go through an auto dealer to get it my number plates? This is insane. |
There are enough high quality games, hero of sparta, killer dungeon hunter, splintercell, prince of persia, asphalt 6, contract killer e.t.c. with sizes BTW 200mb to 400mb. |
@4llerbuntu, poweramp and playerpro have equalizers. you don't have to buy, the free version gives you all the goodies as well |
@fanistic, all devices have their flaws. however , in the case of the sgs2, all tech sites have rated it best smartphone on the planet . try get one, I am sure your wow experience wont allow you notice any temperature change. But really, is there any 1Ghz processor smartphone which wont feel warm to the touch while running multiple apps at the same time? the good part of sgs2 is it wont lag while others do. I presently own an sgs but I have played with the sgs2. will soon upgrade to it though cos I just don't see any other phone like it. |
the MarketEnabler app allows you to view apps that are not available on your android market. it does this by facking your market as that on another country's carrier. for example I chose T-MOBILE U.S and so have been able to download some apps like the official cnn app that was initially missing on my market. also, I can now view paid apps now which were absent on my market before.
|
just downloaded the player pro. used to think poweramp is the best music player , now I think otherwise . player pro is the bomb! advantages over poweramp are: 1. you can increase bass manually 2. you can search the net manually for albulm art 3. albulm art is larger 4. you can search out any song from your list easily 5. the layout is simple with bold buttons 6. better navigation 7. several skins to choose from I am definitely going to purchase the full version once I get my visa usd card. |
thanks double N, will download immediately . |
sgsII is coming out this June in nigeria. also are the new galaxy tabs. |
texazzpete:Texazzpete, i dont think this site will be of much help to people if everyone goes this harsh for questions asked (no matter how low they sound). You need to chill a bit. If you think you can help blacklion go ahead and answer his questions. If you know of a site where his questions are better answered just go ahead and offer. Dont come hard on questions you deem stupid. Their answers may be of help to a lot more than just the person asking. I am meeting up with someone on this thread to help fix is sgs that almost got bricked. I didnt know jack initially, but with people attending to my enquiries on several blogs/sites i am pretty good with handling androids and winmos today. I have learned one or two things on nairalad and i am sure you too. Allow others. |
@ xtonimarie, you can mail me if you need further assistance belushi77@gmail.com |
@extonimarie, are you running a custom rom? if so. which one? for you to be experiencing that loop during boot means you will have to odin back to stock rom. then you can flash back whatever rom you were runnning before the problem. this as happened to me before while flashing a non compatable boot animation and that was how i solved it. once you can get into download mode with the 3 button combo, u aint got nothing to fear. |
@ Ziccoit , you beat me to it, well, the part where i am most concerned you didn't highlight. the fact that nigerian android users can now purchased priced apps on the market. So also our developers can show case their apps on the market for sale and earn something for their hard work. Android is definitely on the way to emerging taking over the mobile scene completely. I dont think apple will be going this way though as they still believe in making their commodity scare for premium value. But hey, i aint mad at apple (iphone) as android has just blown me away with this support for nigeria. i am sold completely. |
Guys guess what? best news for us android lovers, google has added 26 african countries (including nigeria) to the list where priced applications will be available to android users. This means we can now purchased those priced apps and games on the android market. A friend from a blog today successfully purchased an app from the android market with his nigerian bank issued visa dual currency debit card. I will be getting mine immediately and try this out. Nokia started this support to Nigeria's market, then RIM (BB) and now our dear android. I am so happy. check out the list of countries here http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=143779&topic=1100168 |
@ naijatoday, I got the Samsung vibrant (sgh-T959) model of the sgs from the us. its about the most most popular of the US variants. the I9000 model is the international version/uk version and personally I will rather you get that because it receives updates earlier than all the other sgs variants and most supported by developers . it also comes with front facing camera, fm radio, Samsung apps market and a few other goodies that mind doesn't have. if you can have some patience just wait for the release of the sgs2, I'm sure you'll be glad u did as long as you are ready to cough out like $800. the vibrant is about half that price now and its still kicking, that is if you are on a budget. |
