i fully concor with tex's argument on nokia and windows phone. in fact, all they need to do to woe me is increasing available apps in their market for WP7 to a level close to that of android market and i'm sold completely. Nokia has the best support for emerging markets like ours. They even include nigeria for pre-orders! If for their WP7 line up consumers in nigeria will enjoy the same support nokia has been known for then i think it will be the best smartphone to own. i really like my android but i must admit, when i used the HD7 for about a month i developed a whole new love. The WP7 U.I is silky smooth and exciting.

@edoyad, you migjht have to check The specs of that Asus transformer again , I think the one out there presently is for wifi only that is why its priced $400, the GSM version is not yet out and that will definitely cost more.

@tex, give the guy a break, he is just happy that the successor to his sgs is getting such a huge credit even though it wasn't same for his sgs after launch. Though samsung's inability to provide updates on time for the sgs is disappointing, dev's support for the phone took care of all samsung's shortcomings. my gps locks under 3-5secs thanks to developers.

@naija today? When buying the unlocked sgs2 in the us wont it come with a power cord? Well if you really to know the power cord sold in nigeria also works for the us sgs. My sgs was bought from the us unlocked and I have had to buy some accessories for it from samsung here in nigeria and they all work perfectly.
PhonesRe: Android, Anyone? by belushi7: 6:50am On Apr 30, 2011
@Tex, I agree with you. Dont know how much the sgs2 will be going for but I will definitely be upgrading to it from my sgs. The specs of the sgs2 are damn too attractive.
@naijatoday, sgs is a good android phone, you can go for it. I have had mine for about 8 months now and it just keep getting better and better.

Two weeks ago Apple decided to sue Samsung for infringing intellectual property right. The truth of the matter is that this is not the first move of this kind that we see from them. In the last year and a half, Apple has sued HTC, Nokia, Google, and a few other companies for IP copying… all the patents allegedly copied have been from their mobile device division. As a matter of fact, Apple is running out of competitors to sue. In the most recent episode, Apple believes that Samsung’s Touchwiz UI is a direct copy of the UI present in the iPhone/iPod/iPad, also the shape of their galaxy s range of smartphones. This will likely be an interesting debate in a courtroom when Apple tries to demonstrate that they invented any of the following concepts:
1. Touchscreen
2. Icons
3. Alignment in a square array
4. Clicking on an icon to open an app
5. Swipe motion to change screens
6. Physical build with curved edges

Truth be told, all of these concepts existed way before the iPhone became what it is today. They can as well sue everyone on the physical shape as most smartphones these days come in same shape just different sizes. Samsung last week returned the favour by instituting 10 law suites against apple in 3 countries. Also have in mind that samsung produces a sizeable number of iphone parts shipments. Could apple's suit be a threat for price renegotiation on shipments from samsung? I use a samsung galaxy sef and really think apple's suite is unnecessary. However, this is not the view of all. What are you guys take on this issue? Please leave us your comments. Thanks.

It's quite easy setting up my internet on the android.both mtn and glo. Though when I tried requesting automatically I didn't get it. Had to call their office and was giving the settings which I entered manually. And straight I was up and running.
PhonesRe: Android, Anyone? by belushi7: 4:27pm On Nov 21, 2010
@ twinskenny;

settings name : Glo direct, APN: gloflat, username: flat, password: flat

@ texazzpete; I didnt say you cannot achieve all that with your jailbroken iphone. read my post again. i said after reading reviews and users opinions, i settled for android. but truly, i dont need to root my sgs for example just to bluetooth to another phone brand and i can put in a video call to any phone brand i like that supports 3g compared to iphone's facetime. My conclusion on picking android over ios was based on 1. reviews, 2. users opinions and 3. using it in nigeria. I will not discourage anyone from getting his iphone, my preference for now is android.
And really, rooting my sgs was just done by one click. nothing stressful.
PhonesRe: I Phone 4 Vs Samsung Galaxy S ( Ios Vs Android) by belushi7: 3:54pm On Nov 21, 2010
galaxy s please, and the screen is now joke. i have mine set at 30% brightness and still people marvel at the super amoled screens clarity. the black colour is sooo deep, and like i said, this is at 30%, imagine at 100%! my reason for choosing sgs is because with android you can still get a lot of things done( as an open source) unlike the iphone. both phones are not supported in nigeria but with the tons on free apps in the android market, you'll have more than enough. We all know the problems with jailbreaking your iphone, i dont think i want a phone as a patient. on the other side, even with an unlocked galaxy s, you are good to go without any problem and you will enjoy your sgs to the fullest.
PhonesRe: Android, Anyone? by belushi7: 3:18pm On Nov 21, 2010
androids are very good. i use the sgs. but you guys should not hound those in love with their symbian, they have their reasons too for choosing symbian. I have come a long way, started with nokia, then sonyericsson, after which i went on with windows mobile and now with android. i leave each of those platforms to get the satisfaction i desire in the new ones. windows mobile (x1) for me then was slow and after reading through what ios and android has to offer, i picked android. the galaxy s is just it for me now. i have been on xda developers for years now and doubt if i can use any closed system smartphone (bb, iphone). i have since rooted and installed custom rom on my sgs (bionix fusion 1.2), its damn snappy even though i am yet to enable the lagfix on it. right now i am reading quadrant score of 880, if i apply the lagfix it will be in the range of over 2000, you can imagine the speed.
however, i will also like to argue for those on symbian that they do have some advantages. like they can purchase paid apps with our nigerian debit cards while we can only download free apps (although there are plenty of them, more than enough sef). Also the google map is not as detailed as the ovi map (with free voice navigation). these are support systems that nokia has made available for their nigerian users which google is yet to do. I have in fact been shopping for better map for my sgs like garmap and co.

But all in all, i will still choose my android for now over the symbian, it gets the work done and the hardware is not as bulky as the average nokia (the sgs is 9.9mm thin)  and the UI is far more interesting/ exciting.

@na2day, thanks for the tunein radio app, i sure need one cos my sgs is an unlocked t-mobile vibrant version, it doesn't come with fm radio like the I9000 and with a 6gig plan from glo, its more than adequate for our internet hungry android.
PhonesRe: I Phone Or Blackberry by belushi7: 1:51pm On Nov 10, 2010
Holly please, iPhone ofcouse, the truth is that the blackberry hype is catching up everywhere but really it all depends on what you want from a phone. they are both great phones that work right out of the box. but if you want a phone that will give you plenty fun go for iPhone. if you want a phone that will get you into the crowd, then a bb will do.
PhonesRe: No Suitable Nodes Available To Serve Your Request by belushi7: 11:00pm On Nov 07, 2010
Sorry guys, please if this thread is about the subject error while browsing recently, I have also been experiencing same. Is there any explanation from MTN about the problem? I have since been asking members on xda developers about the problem thinking its a problem of my Samsung galaxy s phone. Well, if anyone has any explanation about it, I will like to know becausetheir customer care seem to be unaware.
PhonesRe: Is The New Galaxy S Smartphone Variants Available In Naija? by belushi7: 7:25am On Nov 07, 2010
I think what etisalat is selling is the galaxy tab, it was in the news yesterday. However, someone else told me Samsung had started selling the galaxy s. I don't know for what price though. After going through several reviews on the phone, I decided on getting it after my experience with windows mobile (x1). I contacted Samsung severally but they were not yet ready for sales so I sent a friend to help me get the unlocked version of the T-Mobile vibrant variant. It has all except the fm radio on the international version that will be sold in naija. It also come with 18gig memory. I have been rocking this phone for about a month now.it sold for $500. I bet you, it heats iPhone as fer as I'm concerned. I get to have all freedom iPhone takes away from you. The phone is damn snappy. Though some people reported lags but all lags have been dealt with on the xda developers site. I will most likely be installing a custom rom on it soon to take he phone to a freaking performance level. Everything just works well. Videos play in HD. The games are damn real on the 4inch estate screen. The gallery is in 3d with cooliris. If you have any question about the phone, please feel free to ask.

Car TalkRe: How Useful AreCar Navigation Systems On Nigerian Roads? by belushi7: 8:23am On Aug 07, 2010
Labiyemmy, i dont think you guys shld be engaged in all this fight, you have done the right thing by reporting it to seun though on ur identity theft. i will rather do business with you cos u seem more professional, the words that guy was using were damn too low, you shldnt join words with him i beg.
i use garmin presently on my winmo and really think its the best type of navi you can have (i may be wrong ooo) for naija. However, i am getting an android phone and also a new ride with navi system (avensis 2007)will like to know if you guys will be supporting them sometime in future? Or do you know of any navi software that covers nigeria like garmin does on these platforms if not supported by garmin?
PhonesRe: Lets Talk Android by belushi7: 10:47pm On Jun 05, 2010
google's android os is actually taking over the center stage. both winmos and iphone os are scrambling to ensure this doesn't happen. While Microsoft and Apple keep throwing stones at each other especially after the news of apple overtaking microsoft as the no 1 technology company, google is working tirelessly towards beating both of them, and so will it be.
