“First of all, let us ask: what was the purpose of that meeting? Why did Makinde not come out to tell the party that this is what Wike said?” he asked. “There was no such meeting.”
Wike clarified that the only meeting involving Makinde and other PDP leaders after the 2023 general election was a courtesy visit to President Tinubu, not a political negotiation.
He said, “Myself, former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom; former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu; former governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; and Seyi Makinde went to see the President after the elections. And of course, the Chief of Staff was there.”

Stop playing politics with emotions Anyone is free to belong to any party. Your politicians in your non-APC ,Have they transformed your life to be dangote?
ozo13: I watched that program, and most of Allen Onyema's statements were contradictory. How can air tickets be the cheapest in Nigeria when some flights from one European country to another cost around €40–60, whereas a 45-minute domestic flight in Nigeria can go up to ₦200,000–500,000—during this festive season when no new taxes have been introduced? Also no change in exchange rate or increase in price of aviation fuel. Secondly, Allen Onyema himself admitted that under Buhari, spare parts and new aircraft purchases were made tax-free starting from 2021/2022. That the current proposed tax law seeks to reintroduce those taxes. The question that immediately came to mind when he said this was: Sir, if taxes were removed back then, why did airlines increase ticket prices from around ₦20/30k in 2022 to ₦150,000–200,000 now (an 8–10 times increase) for the same routes? Everything points to greed.
That nigeria for you, same way local rice farmers are crying that imported rice is killing their business, same people buhari gave free loans and other resources only for local rice price to jump by over 100%
Nigerians are the problem of nigeria .
Remember when mtn was claiming per second billing is not possible until Glo came.
Sannisege: You forgot to add that BAT as president = 20 million votes. He was not president in 2023. Una eyes go soon clear.
He has also forgotten apc now has 26 governors , each governor will deliver at least 200k votes ( excluding the ones in the south east ) .that's an extra 2m votes across nigeria for BAT.
AMINDA: Here we go again. The right thing was also for Tinubu to step aside and support a candidate from the Southeast in 2023 but he didn't because power is not served on a plate. You have to give to receive. Tinubu gave to the APC in 2015 and rightfully received when it was time (hence, Emi Lokan). That's political horsetrading. The ADC is a new arrangement and a coalition. The party will consider its strengths and weaknesses and choose its candidate through a transparent primary open to ALL candidates. Whoever is not comfortable with this arrangement should not bother joining the party and go try their luck elsewhere.
This is one thing I hate about you, you like being clever by half , the tinubu you mentioned recognised the fact that the north was meant to be in power, d supported a northerner, atiku too should calm down a support a southerner .
madridguy: Even though the strike against the terrorists is a welcome development, I'm still not happy that despite the fact we have been fighting insurgency for over a decade now, we are yet to be inspired to create or build weapons to fight them.
By now the FG should have been busy sending our engineering students to countries like China, US, Iran, Turkey, Israel and Russia to learn how to build drones and other gadgets instead of spending billions every year to buy.
The FG should also work on our borders.
God bless Nigeria.
The way you guys talk , your country is still struggling to reduce poverty and is owing billions , with which money will you use to build precision drones and missiles ? Or you think the weapons manufacturing industry is like producing indomie noodles ?
The weakness Nigeria has displayed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the quiet humiliation that has followed as a result of a disoriented foreign policy, will haunt the country for a long time.
Even at the height of the Boko Haram insurgency, President Goodluck Jonathan refused to allow the United States or the collective West to step directly into Nigeria under the guise of security partnership.
He understood the historic tragedy that follows foreign military intervention in Africa.
He also understood that once a country cedes that line, it rarely regains full control of its security narrative.
Instead, Jonathan acted decisively when it mattered most, neutralising clear and present threats within Nigeria’s own sovereign framework, even if belatedly and under immense political pressure.
President Tinubu, however, has now eaten the forbidden fruit in paradise.
Yes, there will be explanations. There will be arguments about short-term tactical gains and international cooperation. But history is unkind to such justifications. The precedent being set today will linger far longer than the momentary relief it claims to offer.
The most painful irony is that this foreign intervention is unlikely to achieve any substantial or lasting security outcome.
Rather, it risks transforming Nigeria into a theatre of proxy interests and anti-US sentiment, drawing the country deeper into geopolitical contests it neither initiated nor controls.
The United States may claim a rhetorical victory and move on. Nigeria, however, will be left to manage the long-term consequences, consequences that may ultimately prove more destabilising than the insecurity we were originally confronting.
This is not partnership. It is a historic miscalculation. The first, since Nigeria's independence and one that reverses Africa's sovereign momentum.
By Abdulrazaq Hamzat
Does the writer know that Gej brought in mercenaries from Israel and SA that did a good job until buhari cancelled the contract and the insurgency got prolonged ?
This is why I don't take the north seriously they are not ready to tackle the problem ,they see it as a weapon to be used any time a southerner is president Well that format ends now , tinubu is too smart for them .
He’s Peter Obi’s friend and supporter, when will he call him out as well? Has he ever called for his arrest and prosecution for once? He goes about issuing banger tweets everyday but he has never said pim about Gumi. Not even once.
You caught them pants down , they forgot Gumi is a number 1 supporter of datti and obi .
nairalanda1: The old man has no choice...knowing Nigerian politicans and our leaders, they would rather not charge any tax, because they love to get elected, and they love power.
But this time, our country is between a rock and a hard place. Our lenders the IMF and world bank have been showing some reluctance to borrow us more money and have been passively agressively telling us so. Oil, which forms 80% of government revenue, has had dropping prices, and it was even predictied a year ago that it won;t go above 70 dollars per barrel for a long time. We need to fix illegal mining , but that won't be done in a day, even if our government was serious about it. And VAT...no matter how we shout about it, can at best raise N6 trillion naira per annum for now.
And MDA's revenue generation this year was godawful. For the first time in my life, I heard, on radio nigeria, a economist blasting the government for not raising enough revenue via MDA's.
So, the apc has to charge tax. The alternative is to borrow and borrow...and even borrow more. Subsidy removal removed some of the pressure, but didn't solve the income issue at all.
The even effing horrifying thing is that the tax law at best will reduce our dependence on borrowing. At best. If we were a serious nation, we would forget about oil, even hand over control of the oil revenue to oil producing states, and focus on using our other resources to make products the world needs.
This is not a support for apc, I never voted for them anyway, but a look at the big picture.
(Yes, we have to fight corruption, and it is shameful we have a government that is not serious about it. But fighting corruption won't solve the problem of low revenue.)
Tinubu has never done what typical politicians do , go and check his history from his days as Senator, he always takes up big challenges and does the hard tasks others are scared of doing .
CodeTemplarr: How can Asaba be closer to Abuja than Benin when you must go through Benin to reach Asaba? Maybe it is line-of-sight distance then or rail is involved.
It says from Asaba to Abuja, you are already in asaba you don't need to pass brnin again on your way to Abuja.

This is a trillion times better than what was obtainable in the past . Righteousness2: Merry CHRISTMAS to Everyone. As we celebrate, its Important to know and Understand the Person and Personality of the REASON FOR THE SEASON
JESUS was born a Jew, in the City of David - Bethlehem. He was of the tribe of Judah, born in the region of Judea. He was brought to the Temple according to Jewish law and custom.
At the Temple, old Simeon - who was waiting for the consolation of Israel - saw Him and declared:
“Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation, Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
JESUS taught in synagogues and was addressed by many as “Rabbi.” And in His own testimony to the Samaritan woman, He declared: “Salvation is of the Jews.”
So NO - JESUS was not a Muslim, not a Palestinian, and not a man who was accidentally killed.
The prophet Isaiah made it clear and unmistakable:
“Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
So if you claim to Know and LOVE JESUS CHRIST, and you Hate His Brethern, you are Fake. You are Deceiving yourself. Its Definitely NOT JESUS CHRIST that you know.
Will you keep quiet !!!! You this enabler of genocide! Look at Christians who are not Jews and have suffered a lot in the hands of the Israel you carried on your head like gala , the funny thing is Israel doesn't recognise your religion nor jesus , but you carried them on your head , shows how ignorant you are as a believer, even jesus said his kingdom is not of this world, but you were here on this forum elevating a heathen country more than jesus . You are one of the goats jesus spoke about .
nairalanda1: Electricity is subsidsied for the majority, as is education.
As for tax, considering our tax to gdp is 13.8%...lower than NIger Republic, and considering oil prices are scheduled to keep falling for the next several years, and considering no diversificaiton of the economy(the fault of tinubu, and buhari since they promised it), it's either tax, or government would borrow far far more than they are dreaming of right now.
The scary thing for next year is that if we fight corruption, we still have a very scanty budget that can give every nigerian less than 300000 for the year.
MODIFED
Despite me saying that
1.It is the fault of tinubu and buhari that they haven't diversifed our economy
and
2. Our tax to gdp is low, which is itself an indictment of the government
Some chap called obiekunle01 has decided to use abusive language on me.
My post is definetly not excusing the government, unless you think that saying that the government has failed in its responsibility to raise money for the treasury or to even make our economy productive enough to raise money for our treasury is defending the government...which is in itself a rddiculous idea
I seem to find that some people cannot think before they speak apparently, or read properly.
The problem with Nigeria has always been our resource dependent economy, and thus the tragedy of this APC government is the failure in ten years to reverse that. Instead tinubu and buhari loyalists engage in blaming each other.
And it has been a cold reality that we do not earn enough from tax. Organisations like PwC and the World Bank have repeatedly said that, plus our tax to gdp is markedly low...which is a big part of the reason why we always borrow, even in times of plenty. Yet somehow pointing that out means I am a tinubu supporter. Are PwC and the World Bank made up of APC supporters too?
And it is also a statement of fact that only Band A people pay above market price, and the majority of customers of the discos are on subsidised prices. A statement that has been repeated many times over the years even. Yet, repeating that truth means I am an APC supporter?
And then education...is subsidised. NELFUND, which is a waste of time in my opinion...was brought in to help poor students via a loan...which is a trap. Yet, for stating the truth, I am an APC supporter.
Is the sign of opposing this government being that we must lie like the average government supporter? Does that not make us the same as the APC Propaganda kompanie on this site.?
Anyway, there is popularity and there is truth. I stand for truth, not for lies. Facts, my friends, do not respect your feelings. Whatever you think of me, or not, I will post the truth and I don't care if you abuse me or not.
And Nigeria needs to be free from resource dependency.
I am dissapointed in Obiekunle01. But then again, no one is perfect.
Don't be disappointed, he is an Obidient that's their trademark, to bully and abuse others without even offering valid solutions or alternatives, just keep regurgitating the rubbish their messiah likes to spill about .
peckhamboi: National Security Adviser, Gen. Owoye Azazi has placed part of the security challenges facing the country at the doorstep of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), when it politicise security by projecting certain persons or ethnic groups as capable of ruling while others are not. Azazi who made this frank disclosure on Friday on the subject, “Conversations on Terrorism and Securing the Gulf of Guinea” at the ongoing 2nd South-South Economic Summit, holding in Asaba, Delta State, said PDP got it wrong from the beginning by saying that “Mr. A can rule, but Mr. B cannot rule,” adding that this view created the climate of security threats facing Nigeria today. The Security Adviser to President Jonathan who said though members of PDP have not always been comfortable with this frank opinion whenever he mentions it, said except those political issues are addressed, it will be difficult to get to the root of the challenges. According to him, Boko Haram is a religious crisis, but that it is all about economic problem, adding that to alleviate this problem, there is need for economic empowerment and human capital development. “What started several years ago was not realised. For instance, the Boko Haram, very many persons said because they were hungry, but nobody bothered to check why the indiscriminate attacks. We must understand the critical causes of insecurity,” he said. While calling on politicians to put their houses in order by seeing all persons as capable of holding any political office irrespective of the ethnic groups they belong, he added: “in your parties, talk to yourselves.” Gen. Azazi who fingered lack of infrastructure in Nigeria as threat to security, observed that in Delta and Edo States, there has been an increase in the rate of robbery and kidnapping activities, adding that to reduce them, there should be need for an efficient, motivated security outfit. “Do we have a police force we can rely on? People do not have enough confidence in our security agencies, but we can join hands to reform the police force. My intention is to give you hope that if you work with us, security can improve,” Azazi said. While calling for steps to be taken to reduce security problems, Gen. Azazi said comprehensive assessment must be carried out as it is impossible for government alone to provide security, adding that there is need for all to understand the major problems creating insecurity and for the government to create a good environment for people to live in.

All the peo0le he claims Tinubu betrayed most of them are still his friends and allies , apart from rufai and aregbesola which other person is openly attacking or going against tinubu ?
AMINDA: You people always have a convenient explanation for every round of treachery and betrayal by your tin-god. From Elrufai, to Kashim Imam, to Ganduje and now Wike. You will also have an explanation for Shettima's in the coming months.
Oga rest , you know nothing , politics is not for online warriors like you
AMINDA: As much as we all want to see Wike get his Karma, Tinubu proves yet again that he only cares about Tinubu. Wike destroyed the PDP on his behalf and requested for only one thing, the Rivers state structure. Yet, Tinubu is now aiming to take that away from him to consolidate on his own re-election. The list of betrayed allies continue to grow. His newfound friends will soon find out. Ganduje is also somewhere licking his wounds, forgotten. He was the darling of Agbadorians just a while ago. Lessons.
Oga rest ! The first law of power states that Never outshine the master !
Wike was given free hand in this administration but has gone beyond limits , and the master will put him in check , even when he was told to sheath his sword he was still flexing muscle, you can't have 2 masters in the same boat .
