It is not better sir our senators keep wasting money cos they lack ideas ,how much goods can that keke vehicles carry.? Are you saying there are no mini trucks she could have procured specially for farmers ? Except if that vehicle in the picture is not the one she is giving to fatners and market women .

Senator Natasha to Empower over 100 constituents with made in Nigeria electric vehicles

The senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, is set to empower over 100 of her constituents with electric vehicles assembled in Nigeria.

The empowerment programme is part of activities marking her second anniversary in office, scheduled to hold on November 2, 2025, in Kogi Central.

According to a statement from the Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC), the firm handling the project, the initiative is aimed at boosting local enterprise and promoting green transportation within the district.

The Marketing Executive Manager of EMVC, Udensi Bernard, confirmed that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan visited the company two weeks ago to discuss the plan.

“She came in person, accompanied by her husband, and informed us of her intention to empower her constituents with electric vehicles for her second anniversary.

“Over 100 individuals, especially women, will benefit from this initiative. These vehicles are proudly assembled here in Nigeria", Benard said.

He added that the vehicles would help beneficiaries cut costs on fuel, reduce maintenance expenses, and promote environmental sustainability.

“For farmers, the vehicles will ease transportation of produce; for business owners, they will lower logistics expenses; and for transport operators, they will boost profits while reducing dependency on petrol or diesel.

“Beyond the economic impact, this initiative will promote renewable energy awareness and support Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development and green innovation", he added.

The senator’s first anniversary in 2024 saw her train and empower over 1,300 women and youths, sponsor tuition fees for 353 vulnerable students in tertiary institutions, install over 2,000 solar-powered streetlights across 30 kilometres of roads in Kogi Central, and commission 12 solar-powered water projects serving over 300 locations with 1,800 fetching taps.

She also facilitated employment opportunities for over 100 constituents, among several other community development projects.
If that is the vehicle I'm seeing, how can it transport farm produce for farmers?

What specific policies, institutional frameworks, and projects enabled Lagos, Gombe, and Ebonyi to secure the top three spots in the 2024 Climate Governance Performance Ranking, what are the most significant governance and implementation gaps in the lowest-ranked states (like Kano and Zamfara), and how will the Federal Ministry of Environment use this ranking as an accountability tool to drive better performance, attract green investment, and accelerate climate action across all 36 states?

We don't have enough people playing to get a strong domestic team

I know you guys will say I am hating on Nigeria, but as a casual basketball fan since the early 90s, I know that our getting overseas Nigerians is to cover up for the fact that basketball as a whole is weak in Nigeria

USA does well because they have strong basketball programs from primary school up. Alongside a strong amateur league. Even in villages , there are basketball teams.

Nigeria doesn't have that.

See, why blame Tinubu for the folly of another person?

Since Diri entered there, Seriake his godfather has removed himself from.his governance, good or bad. It's been Diri throughout so how will a possible successor be the problem! It's APC lies to justify his defection. When Diri handpicked his chosen Senator for Bayelsa Central and Reps, Seriake didn't stand in his way, there has been mutual respect all round.

Bayelsa is totally PDP from top to bottom except 2/3 House of Assembly seats, all NASS seats is PDP. Again, he has performed at least well, I have been visiting Bayelsa almost thrice a year from when Seriake was there and I know the State has improved albeit marginally. He entered into an unholy alliance with them for his re-election, let him State his personal reasons.

It is simple, Tinubu has made it clear to the Southern Governors that there is plenty, I mean, plenty in Abuja...it's our turn! Come and seat at the table and be decision-makers not just for 2027 but even after.
God Bless you! Tinubu's game plan is simple , lock down the whole south so the north will know it's crystal clear they can't win or get a run off in 2027 and be forced to sit at the table and negotiate, wise northern leaders like Kwankwaso have seen this ,reason you don't see them active in any discussion about any party movement asides to apc

Laws about planning, laws about the environment, laws about development control.

In Abuja it is them that designated green areas for ambience, food control. It is them that are giving out permits to build over them today. Just annoying.
But if the same government comes around tomorrow to enforce laws and permits ,same you will turn around and play victimisation card , do you know some people actually went to court ,dragged lagos state to court over environmental sanitation, same people will still come out and shout flood and lagos is dirty . Dear Nairalanders,

We are ramping things up. Here are some things we have done recently:

1. We gave Nairaland's theme a little facelift, fixing buttons, pagination, separators, and other little things.

2. We implemented a dark mode for Nairaland with the most intuitive UX: a sun toggle on your upper right.

3. We further relaxed the minimum character rule because many people were still struggling with it.

We are also trying to make our moderation bot (aka antispam bot) more accurate. Bear with us on that.

What else do you want us to work on?

Best Regards.
Nice work seun , may I also suggest you work on creating your own version of grok for nairaland that can be used to factcheck claims and posts in real time, this will go a long way in reducing propaganda and false information.

For twenty years of USA war in Afghanistan, they lost only seventeen thousand of their military personnel, Just three and half years, Russia war in Ukraine, it has lost more than one million two hundred thousand soldiers.
Refineries gone, strategic aviation bombers gone, Armod tanks gone, war ships gone, have they conquered Donbass, according to war strategies analysis, it will take Russia ten years to achieve that and triple the amount they've lost already.

Foreign AffairsRe: President Lazarus Chakwera Concedes Defeat In Malawi Presidential Election by benardtotti(m): 1:30pm On Sep 24, 2025
fergie001:
Lazarus Chakwera concedes defeat

The Justice Annabel Mtalimanja-led Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has so far announced the official results of 24 (out of 36) councils with 85-year old Arthur Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party polling 2022879 votes as against the incumbent and perennial rival, Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) with 732575 votes.

Malawi laws allow a maximum 8 days for election results to be announced, with the winner needing a 50%+1 margin to be so declared. The results for the remaining 12 councils is expected to be announced at 3pm Nigerian time.

The duo have now faced each other in close Presidential contests four times (2014, 2019, 2020 & 2025). Chakwera, 70, a preacher and instructor, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and also a BTh, MTh and Doctorate in Theology. He was the General Superintendent & head of the Malawi Assemblies of God Church from 1989, and at one time, Secretary of the World Assemblies of God Church until his surprising resignation and foray into politics in 2013. Elected Member of the Parliament and leader of the opposition thereafter in 2014, Chakwera premised his policy on fighting corruption, job creation and lowering food prices for the largely rural Southern African nation.

During his tenure as President, he has faced heavy criticisms ranging from his many appointments of relatives and persons from his own political stronghold, fewer women in his cabinet, rising inflation (+20%) aided in part by the cyclone/climate change effects, fuel shortages, selective fight against corruption, rising food prices and economic drought.

On the other hand, Mutharika, a teacher and Professor of International and Comparative Law have at different times served as a Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, Minister of Education, Science & Technology as well as been a Member of Parliament under Bingu Wa Mutharika (his older brother and 3rd President of Malawi who died whilst in office in 2012).

In 2014 before the Presidential Election, Mutharika relinquished his US PR status after it was found out he holds a US Green Card, a disqualification criterion to contest the Malawian Presidency (Malawi outlaws dual citizenship for the Presidency). The 85 year old, a University of London and Yale University alumni was elected President in 2014 in a first 5-year term, in what Malawians term as a period of heavy sleaze and corruption including allegations of his receiving a $200000 bribe for a multi-million Police contract, one he denied.

In 2019, he was re-elected in controversial circumstances with what is now known as 'Tippexing election' where results were manipulated and changed with tip-pex, a brand of correction fluid, heavy protests followed even after his swearing-in on May 31, 2019. Known as the 'Tippexing President', consistent opposition and street protests trailed his Government until the Constitutional Court on 5/2/2020 under heavy military protection in a 7-hour judgement annulled the election (2nd time in Africa after Kenya's in 2017) and ordered a fresh election in 150 days; he lost to Chakwera thereafter. His 2025 chosen Vice President-elect is Justice Jane Ansah (rtd), the chairperson of MEC who midwifed the controversial 2019 Presidential Election.

17 aspirants contested in the Presidential election with about 7.2million voters.
So Malawians went back to their vomit and elected an old corrupt patron .
PoliticsRe: ₦2.225Tn: FAAC Shares Largest Allocation To Federal, States, Local Governments by benardtotti(m): 10:59pm On Sep 20, 2025
Ofunaofu:
Comparing the naira to the Korean won just because both are “weaker” than the dollar misses the entire point and frankly, shows you have a poor understanding of basic economics.

South Korea's currency may trade at 1,400 won to $1, but the key difference is purchasing power, inflation control, and economic output. The South Korean won hasn't lost over 100% of its value in less than two years like the naira. Inflation in South Korea is around 2%, while Nigeria’s is over 27%. Huge difference.

And no, devaluation only boosts productivity if you have a strong manufacturing/export base. Nigeria imports most of its essential like medicine, food, machinery. So when the naira weakens, prices skyrocket, and the average Nigerian suffers. That’s not productivity, that’s pain.

Lastly, large FAAC allocations in naira terms don’t mean much if the real value keeps shrinking. It’s like being excited that you got paid N500,000 this month, when last year N250,000 could buy you more.

So yes, we should demand accountability from state and local governments as well as Tinubu and federal government, but we also need to stop pretending that rising allocations caused by currency collapse are worth celebrating.
First off I only gave you the Korea example to let you know devaluation is not the problem, it's what you do with devaluation that determines how well or badly you end , coming back to nigeria ,the devaluation done is a reset cos nigeria has never truly known the real value of her currency, now that the currency is finding its true value , productivity is increasing , innovation is beginning to take place slowly and most of all foreign investment and portfolio is picking up , if this devaluation is given enough time to take root ,the real purchasing power parity will become stable, but critical infrastructure has to be in place which is why I told you you are misguided for not holding your local government and state governors responsible with the larger allocation they are given, a smart governor will stimulate local production of essential materials local to his state but most of them don't think that way .
