That is not true those areas are in kogi state but because the Igbos stay in those border towns and were living almost as indigenes, they tried to claim the oils deposit there. Infact there are other deposits far from the boundary that cannot be in dispute which are some of the oldest in Nigeria. They were drilled in the 50s and 80s.

The particular oil well you mentioned is in ibaji local government. Orient petroleum, owned by Anambra persons, commissioned a refinery in Anambra and was drilling oil from the well in Ibaji to their refinery. That is what led to the dispute cos that is stealing.
