Doctors’ strike Doctors employed by the Anambra State government did go on a prolonged strike lasting about 13 months (roughly from early 2011 to late February 2012). It centered on the state’s refusal to fully implement the federal Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS). The government offered a roughly 60% increase instead of full parity. The strike was called off after an MoU was signed; a technical committee was set up, and doctors returned to work, citing the hardship on patients. Peter Obi has publicly addressed this. He said public hospitals were dysfunctional, funding was not producing results (ambulances disappeared, facilities remained poor), there were no accredited schools of nursing/midwifery/health technology when he took office, and he shifted toward partnerships with faith-based/mission organizations to revive facilities and training institutions. He framed the industrial actions (including with teachers/doctors) as resistance to reforms that challenged the previous order. Outcomes he and supporters cite include building or upgrading facilities (e.g., Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital), getting multiple health training institutions accredited, and later awards such as Bill & Melinda Gates recognition related to health work. Lecturers / education sector strikes There was industrial action by lecturers at Anambra State University (and broader Southeast state universities) around 2010–early 2011. Reports describe a strike lasting roughly 5–6 months (starting around July 2010 and called off in January 2011), driven by demands for better funding, infrastructure, and salary parity closer to the 2009 federal ASUU agreement. It was not a continuous 13-month lecturers’ strike matching the doctors’ duration. Obi’s government negotiated increases (reports mention offers around 60–80% of federal levels at points), raised subvention, and the strike ended after agreements involving stakeholders. Separately, there were teacher-related disruptions tied to Obi’s major education reform: returning mission schools. Education funding / “didn’t subsidize” This part of the claim is not accurate based on available records. Obi’s administration did not run a pure free-education model across the board in the style of some later policies, and school fees existed in places (with criticisms of fee hikes or payment structures at times). However, it actively funded and subsidized education, especially after returning schools to their original mission owners. Key documented actions include: Returning ~1,040 primary (and related secondary) schools to churches/missions in 2011. Providing substantial direct funding/subventions for maintenance and rehabilitation: an initial ~₦6 billion package distributed over months based on school numbers, plus later tranches (e.g., additional hundreds of millions to billions reported in subsequent years for rebuilding, libraries, labs, generators, sports equipment, etc.). Government continued paying teacher salaries and providing budgetary support. Investing in infrastructure, computers, and other inputs; supporting private universities with annual grants in some accounts. Results frequently cited: Anambra rose from near the bottom in national WAEC/NECO rankings to top or near-top positions in subsequent years. Obi has described the return-and-fund model as necessary because direct government management of schools and hospitals was not delivering results despite spending. Supporters point to improved exam performance and infrastructure. Broader context on performance Obi’s 2006–2014 tenure (with interruptions) is often praised for relative fiscal prudence, infrastructure, education ranking improvements, and health partnerships, alongside the industrial disputes noted above. Claims of total non-performance or zero subsidy ignore the documented funding to mission schools and other investments. |
duduade:You know nah😁 |
Evaress:We will be watching who wins the next arena games😁😁 |
carammel:He will be fine. I understand how he feels like being so close to getting an immunity. |
Evaress:From experience with women,I highly doubt it. There is one babe I used to vibe with in my first year in the university. Facially, she was below average and no physical embodiments that I could get attracted to. Fast forward to my 3rd year,I was going to my department and a lady just called me from behind and I could not believe my eyes. Boobs full and perky, backside fat and bouncy. No makeup but the face looked so enhanced and beautiful as if she went through a top to bottom transformation. So it's very possible for a lady to get transformed with the right physical exercise, food and cream. Just a footnote, She didn't do a single surgery. |
Anniemae:Being a good woman but still having multiple sex partners? That's a conflicting and bizarre combo. No woman no matter this age and day will ever allow her son or brother to be entangled with such woman. The moment a woman has multiple sex partners, she becomes a man sexually. Women by default are wired to only be connected emotionally to one partner. |
These days boys just got phones just to browse Nairaland and X. Not even a single research. Well I guess I expected too much from a group behaving like glorified Zoombees.😎 In June 2026 interviews (including on Trust TV and Arise News), Ikenna Azomchine stated he had long parted ways with Obi. It's interesting Ikenna still refers himself as an 'Obi'dient general' instead of a BATfied general. it implies that Obi is still popular to him😆😆 |
Anniemae:Most Women won't say so until that same lady with a history of multiple sex partners wants to marry their son, brother and male cousin. |
Love800:Not just Africa, most advanced countries also hold that view esp the women. Ladies are valued mostly by their sexual exclusivity and body count. The higher their body count, the lesser the value. Men,however, are often valued for status, resources, physical formidability. This is why there is less scrutiny when men engage in sex in the open than women. |
Love800:Let's be honest, queen really tried as she made the house very hot because it seemed the house was going through a peace path. |
100naira:Just bring guests or fake HMs. |
Friendly25:Nomy Dessa Cassie - evicted |

4otty4our:You want Nomy to pause for 20 mins then answer the question? If she fit disrespect Biggie nah Ebuka she go respect?😆 |
Dessa:She said she is 25 Blue:No she said 28 Dessa:She told me she is 25 Blue:But if she is 25,how did she do audition four times Chisom:You said she is 25? Dessa:Yeah that's what she said Chisom:Nah lie...nah football age. |
Oshokhai69:I was going to ask why they were talking about her as if biggie has approved her VE. |
Was this not the same phyna who went to their reunion and lied about her own ex-HM chichi. She had concocted a lie that chichi poisoned a friend. When the truth came out, phyna went silent. I'm not saying it may not be true. However,it's important to take what she says with a pinch of salt. |
Wats going on between Barry and Dessa in the kitchen? Omor them just cuddle and peck before Dessa run while Araga dey garden dey discuss. These camera guys nah something else. 😁😁 |
It's obvious the production crew that recruited most of the HMs didn't do a proper medical evaluation of the younger ones. Look at Sabrina of last season that left due to an infection kept insisting she was fine and wanted to go back to the house but production refused. This life no just balance. |
Oshokhai69:See Tram that was having the best week of his life. |
