There was indeed a carnage done by the Nigerian army on that day!

You want judiciary to protect the stealers of another party's logo, right?
Let me unpack your strange question
Firstly, what was INEC main defence against registering NDC last year?
Secondly, can you with all confidence display the PMP logo?
Reply these two important queries.. let me know if I can go further with you.

Little wonder why the entire agbado camp was on fire after Obi asked Bulaba to follow the example of starmer and resign!

While on appeal, INEC reserves the right to remove the NDC particulars from its website as the new judgement aligns with its stand that NDC never met requirements for registration. It was the court that arm twisted INEC to accept NDC but that same court has now corrected itself. So unless the NDC can get a stay of execution at the appeal court, INEC should quickly delist that hopeless party from its setup.
All I see is fear!
If your paymaster was popular,he would not need to go through this shameful path!
Even Buhari administration is by far better than the incompetent bulaba in aso rock!

Or let governor zulum appoint one of them to guard the government house or allocate each to his commissioners since he wants to justify the usefulness of the programme.

This is once again a failure of the judiciary!
How can a criminal be declared repentant and acquitted by a programme sponsored by the executive arm of government?
No matter how repentant the terrorists are, they still need to be prosecuted and sentenced to prison for the crimes they have committed!
Some people may claim most of the some of the terrorists were indorinated.
However, ignorance of the law doesn't exempt you from the consequences!
This operation safe corridor has proven to be a waste of funds as most of the so called repentant terrorists have gone back to their old ways.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Will Review ₦70,000 Minimum Wage – Gbajabiamila by bentenny(m):
Before data boys start flooding this thread with accolades of their paymaster, let's do some math

In 2023 in the first quarter, the naira dollar exchange was #450.
Minimum wage was #30.000
Dollar value was $67

Current minimum wage is #70,000
Dollar value @#1370 is $51

This shows that the value of current minimum wage is less than that of 2023.

If the presidency is going to realistically make any upward review of minimum wage, the value of the minimum wage in dollars should be between $95 - $120 which in naira is 130,000 - 160,000.

Anything less is a scam just like the 'increased' faac allocation to states.

Upward minimum wage review should be based on value not volume.
Properties › Re: Three-Storey Building Collapses In Alakija, Lagos, Many Trapped (Video) by bentenny(m): 4:47pm On Jun 25
This is yet again another proof that our institutions are dying or already dead!

In 2021,a business man named Femi Osibona and his company embarked on building the three high-rises, including a 21-storey luxury residential tower in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Unfortunately,on November 1, 2021,the 21-storey tower under construction collapsed, killing over 40 people including Osibona who was inside the building at the time along with his friend, Wale Bob-Oseni.

A coroner inquest in 2022 blamed the collapse primarily on negligence, irresponsibility, and compromised oversight by Lagos State regulatory agencies (particularly the Lagos State Building Control Agency - LASBCA and related bodies) responsible for approvals and supervision.

Up till this moment, none of the culprits have been held accountable or imprisoned in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
Yet we wonder why we keep having collapsed building structures in Lagos state.

Politics › State Policing Bill:flaws & Potential Solutions by bentenny(op): 10:46pm On Jun 24
The State Police Bill (Constitution Alteration) State Police Bill, 2026, passed by the Senate on June 24, 2026, introduces a dual federal-state policing framework with several built-in safeguards.

However, analysts, civil society groups (e.g., PLAC), security experts, and commentators have identified notable flaws based on Nigeria’s political realities, history of institutional abuse, and practical challenges.

Here’s a summary of the main flaws and potential solutions:

1. Risk of Political Abuse and Partisan Use by Governors

Flaw: Governors appoint State Commissioners of Police (with some checks), and critics fear this could lead to misuse for intimidating opponents, suppressing protests, influencing elections, or targeting minorities/ethnic/religious groups. Nigeria’s history of political interference in security makes this a real concern, even with prohibitions on partisan directives.

Solutions: Strengthen independent oversight (e.g., more empowered State Police Service Commissions with civil society representation). Add explicit constitutional bans on partisan policing with stiff penalties. Implement mandatory independent audits, whistleblower protections, and federal judicial review for sensitive directives. For elections, consider temporary independent command arrangements during campaigns and voting periods.

2. Inadequate Funding and Capacity, Especially for Poorer States

Flaw: Many states already struggle with basic obligations (salaries, infrastructure). Establishing and sustaining professional state police (recruitment, training, equipment, forensics, welfare) will be extremely costly. Poorer states risk underfunded, ineffective, or corrupt forces, widening inequality between rich and poor states. Proposed FAAC allocations (e.g., ~3%) may fall short.

Solutions: Constitutional guarantees for dedicated, ring-fenced funding (e.g., direct transfers to State Police Commissions to bypass governors). Federal matching grants or a national State Police Trust Fund. Phased implementation starting with capable states, plus national minimum standards tied to certification and funding support. Explore public-private partnerships or community levies with strict accountability.

3. Potential Jurisdictional Conflicts and Coordination Gaps

Flaw: Overlaps between federal (national crimes, counterterrorism) and state police could cause confusion, turf wars, or delayed responses in cross-border or complex cases. Weak mechanisms for seamless cooperation might undermine overall security.

Solutions: Establish Joint Operations and Coordination Centres in every state (involving federal, state, and other agencies) with clear protocols for lead agency determination. Define federal supremacy for specific crimes (e.g., interstate, terrorism) via detailed legislation. Regular intergovernmental forums and technology-enabled information sharing (e.g., centralized databases).

4. Risk of Replicating Federal Police Problems at State Level

Flaw: Issues like corruption, poor training, human rights abuses, low motivation, and lack of professionalism in the current NPF could simply decentralize without being fixed. Fast-tracking raises questions about rushed implementation.

Solutions: Enforce rigorous national training standards, merit-based recruitment (with federal character principles), and ongoing certification/reviews. Independent civilian oversight bodies, mandatory human rights and use-of-force training, and performance-linked funding. Address root causes (welfare, equipment) before full rollout.

5. Weak or Untested Safeguards in Practice
Flaw: While the bill includes checks (e.g., two-thirds legislative approval for removals, National Police Council roles, federal intervention powers), enforcement depends on political will. State Houses of Assembly may lack independence in many places.

Solutions: Add more robust mechanisms like compulsory independent auditing, national use-of-force standards, stronger whistleblower protections, and periodic public reporting. Judicial oversight and involvement of bodies like the NHRC. Pilot programs in select states to test and refine before nationwide rollout.

Other Concerns
Fragmentation of National Security: Potential for uneven standards or ethnic/regional biases.

Implementation Timeline: Fast-tracked process (emergency plenary) limited broad stakeholder input.

Overall Assessment: The bill is a significant step toward addressing Nigeria’s security challenges through decentralization, but its success hinges on implementation, funding, and political culture more than the text itself.
Many experts view it as necessary but incomplete without complementary reforms (e.g., police welfare, judicial efficiency, anti-corruption).

The bill still needs ratification by at least 24 State Houses of Assembly and presidential assent. This phase offers an opportunity to incorporate improvements via harmonization or enabling laws.
Politics › Re: Senate Passes State Police Bill, empowers Govs to appoint Police Commissioners by bentenny(m): 10:10pm On Jun 24
So the state governor is given the powers to appoint a state commissioner of police based on the 'advise' of the police commission council just the same way the IGP is appointed by the president based on the advise of the national police commission council.

Secondly, majority of the state house of assembly will have to approve and we already know that all state assembly members are in the pockets of their respective state governors.

Ultimately, the state police will eventually be abused by the state governors just as I said earlier.
I see a situation where some state governors will order policemen to restrict or impede a certain political opponent from entering his state.

I hope during harmonisation between the assembly members, they should try as much as possible to look into this clause to empowers the state governor to appoint and fire the state CP.

GET UR FACTS RIGHT!!!

GOVERNORS CAN HIRE
BUT OMLY THE PRESIDENT ND POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION CAN FIRE
JUST AS IT IS WITH STATE CHIEF JUSTICES
You are actually the one who doesn't have his facts right!
Nowhere in the passed bill does the president have the powers to fire a commissioner of police in a state.
If there is,please post it here!

The state governor has the powers to not only appoint but to also fire the state CP without needing the permission of the police service commission.

Let's even assume without conceding that the president was the one empowered to sack the state CP,that will be ludicrous and will amount to undue interference which will ultimately go contrary to the laws of decentralization of state policing!

Politics › Re: Senate Passes State Police Bill, empowers Govs to appoint Police Commissioners by bentenny(m): 9:39pm On Jun 24
Out of the frying pan and into the fire!
He who appoints also has the power to fire!
The state commissioner of police will do as he or she is told by the state governor!
If the state CP.is asked to arrest a political opponent, the CP will do so or get fired!

If you have a well armed police as a state you will be in the right position to enforce laws like a ban on open grazing and etc that you make. You will be able to take up the undesirable elements in your community without waiting for the FG.
Much as these are basic advantages of state policing,my utmost concern is that of accountability and oversight functions!
A policing system without proper safeguards is simply opening the door for opaqueness and complete abuse from political office holders!

Nigeria is too large to be protected by the crooked Police Force; they're obviously overwhelmed.

State Policing is the answer and our able President is proactive about it.
So you think state policing is the silver bullet that will take out insecurity without first addressing the strength of the state policing framework and funding?

Who will the state commission for police in each state be accountable or answerable to?

Adjudication of responsibility by this incompetent administration does not instantly solve the problem of insecurity without having strict and wholistic safeguards to curb abuse from political office holders!

Just because you don't sleep around or keeping your virginity for a man or being very consistent with church activities doesn't equate being basic credentials for marriage!

Most church ladies have terrible characters if you come closer to them.

They are very holy when they attend church activities but the moment they step into their homes, they turn into gossipers, throwing insults and being aggressive!

There was this lady I knew when I was very young that attended, consistently,a very popular church....that lady can speak in tongues and pray but the moment she gets home and removes her church clothes, she can fight anybody unprovoked!

Which man will look at such attitude and decide to marry such a woman?

Whole local governments are not under occupation and excuses are not being given. Work is done daily, and progress recorded against insecurity. Different.
So progress according to you in security means redefining success as 'fewer whole LGAs fully occupied' while thousands still die yearly from banditry, kidnappings, and insurgency.
It's on record that Tinubu regime recorded higher fatalities than that of Jonathan.
So where is the progress?

Even Babajide Otitoju of TVC still believes based on findings till today that those recovered LGAs in Borno state are still under the control of terrorists!
