Politics › Re: You Can Now Buy Rice At N7,000 Per Bag Thanks To An Increase In Local Production by Beremx(f): 8:07pm On Aug 02, 2016 |
soulhighman: You are right, but that will only happen for a short period of time. If Nigeria continues like this, it will get to a point we will no longer have to import rice but even have enough to export. Reports have it that Nigeria can produce rice enough to feed the whole of west Africa. Nigeria presently consumes about 5million tonnes per year, largely obtained from importation. Imagine if all that were produced locally, the positive effect it will have on our forex. Its a gradual process. We will get there someday. That's a deceitful lie being told over the years to think Nigeria is the giant of Africa. Nigeria cannot produce rice to feed a state not to talk of a whole west Africa. Whatever gradual process it's gonna take, it's gonna be a very long time. |

Pray it doesnt get to the point where you queue to buy milk and sugar like in 83-85'. Just pray! Did you warn me not to vote for Buhari because there's going to economic hardship or because he's going to islamize Nigeria and that he's too old to be president? You wailers had your reasons for not voting for Buhari. Economic hardship wasn't one of them so stop lying. |

MadamExcellency: I believe most people on Nairaland don't go to market while majority eat "mama put"
Last week, the price of rice increased by N1500 while Indomie Noodle is now N2600 (today) for bulk purchase from initial N2400. don't mind them. I don't like people who talk out of ignorance. some people have not been to the market since Buhari became president and they're trying to tell me that all is well with prices of foodstuffs. I go to the market at least five times a week and i know what's happening. Everyday, there's an increase in prices of foodstuffs. I mean every fuccking day!! Just imagine a full frozen chicken and 3pieces of turkey wings now sell for 900naira each!! A loaf of bread goes for between 250naira to 500naira depending on the size. I can't be very angry buying these foodstuffs and you expect me to come to nairaland and shout "God bless Buhari" Never!! |

We should stop deceiving ourselves. The local production of rice cannot solve the high demand of rice by Nigerians. Rice still has to be imported to support the local production. |

ogene70: it was a mess to see people like you believe those who simply decamped from Pdp to Apc all in the name of being progressives will bring about any positive change. I read most of your comments in the build up to the election and was so shocked how much you believed in such criminals. With the padding of the budget it has become obvious to us that the so called progressives are criminals themselves. The only person i believed in was Buhari hence my campaign for him. If you had followed my comments before the elections, you would agree with me. |

Lai Mohammed please go to the market and ask for the price of foodstuffs. Every day, the price of commodities keep increasing.
Imagine going to enquire for the price of a derica cup measurement of rice in the morning which was 260naira, just this evening i went back, it's 300naira!! A bag of rice is 20k!!
Does it mean only the rich will eat rice now?
