Politics / Fulani Herdsmen Serial Attacks: An Avoidable War Looming by BestGovernance(f): 5:40pm On Feb 28, 2016
FULANI HERDSMEN SERIAL ATTACKS: AN AVOIDABLE WAR LOOMING

This is our second piece on the meat producing venture that has been turned to an avenue for destruction of human lives and properties. As we had earlier stated in a previous article "Fulani Herdsmen Serial Attacks: Another Unnoticed War Booming"
We will not stop echoing into ears of the authorities concerned that a happy premium ought to be placed on human life and dignity than that of animals.

The number of people being sent to their early graves by these bloodthirsty, heartless and barbaric group call Fulani herdsmen is on the increase daily and our leaders seem hapless to curb this menace.

In fact, in recent times, losses emanating from the cancerous activities of this group has outnumbered that of the Boko Haram terrorist group. Just this week, Channels TV brought the evils perpetrated by this wanton group to limelight, the loss was countless and the perpetrators are bent on continuing with this ignoble act.

The recent attack on the Agatu people of Benue State was a pointer to this. The erroneous excuse by the Fulani Herdsmen that they are producing food just like the farmers and therefore should not be disturbed is baseless.

The primary responsibility of any reasonable government is to provide security for the lives and properties of its citizens. But in this clime, we witness a near total reversal of  the case.
After being ranked among the world deadliest groups, we expected our government to take the bull by the horn and do the needed but their response so far can more or less be described as a kid glove approach.

Is Nigeria the only country that produces beef for the entire world? If not, why are other countries are not facing same challenge(s)?

Today's Fulani herdsmen, aside maiming and mutilating fellow humans and destroying farmlands,  are now involved in brazen shows of daylight kidnapping(s) and armed robbery.
They now have access to an assortment of  sophisticated weaponry.

The most disturbing reality is that not one of the perpetrators of such heinous acts has ever been brought to book. The Governors, LGA Chairmen and village heads are most oft helpless and scared of goring the ox of the power-that-be. So let us ask our security agencies who are fond of muscling over harmless protesters why they have not made a single arrest on any attack perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen?

Going by these developments, our leaders ought to see reasons why the old practice of TRANSHUMANCE cannot work any longer. Anyone standing on a section of our constitution that says there should not be restriction to movement of people and animals within the country to justify these deleterious acts by Fulani Cattle rearers needs to be more humane and have a serious rethink.

The crux of the matter is not about flaunting or disregarding the stance of our constitution, what we are more direly concerned about is the aftermath of transhumance which has turned an avenue to steal, destroy and kill senselessly.

Without mincing words, we ask; 'why are their atrocious acts restricted to some sections of the country(South and North Central)?' Or do they not practise transhumance in the Northwest and Northeastern parts of Nigeria?

Without being economical with the truth, we unequivocally assert that these recent attacks are a reflection of ethno-religious wars being masked under the guise of grievances resulting from land disputes. The earlier we address and tackle this issue head-on,  the better and safer for our coexistence.

The good news which concerned authorities can confidently leverage on is that we now have a President who has over fifty years experience in cattle rearing and a Senate President that brought in white Zimbabwean farmers to his State during his tenure as governor to practise ranching. Both presidents should save Nigeria from this avoidable war.

In its entirety, we reject the suggestion of the minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, that grasses should be planted in all States of Federation.

Moreso, we declare a capital NO to those calling for the revisit of the old land demarcation system. The population explosion cannot make any of these two options work.
We need to utilise our comparative advantages, let beef production stay in the core North and Palm Oil production stay in the South.

Enough is enough, RANCHING is the best solution. This is what Argentina uses to generate billions of dollars as revenue while supplying large quantity of beefs around the world.

Good Governance Advocates in partnership with Shadow Cabinet of Nigeria, hereby declare to all concerned authorities who should be involved in curbing this transhumance menace and adopt RANCHING system now.

BestGovernance:
NIGERIA: A NATION IN THE WOOD WITH HER PRESIDENT ON TRANSIT

Since emergence of our President as number one citizen, he has left no one in doubt that charity should begin from abroad not home. Thus he deems it fit to tour the globe in his quest for providing solution to Nigeria’s problem. From all indications, it seems he is comfortable in communicating his policies via this platform.

Surprisingly, this style of governance is alien to our nation and many keep wondering why the President should choose such a path. To make the matter worse his spin’s doctors are going to any length in defending this unbecoming act. Their defence have changed from during or after trip to before trip, what a government?

To be candid, there is nothing bad in attending international affairs outside the shore of his country but the situation in our country deserve full attention and time from its leaders. According to a Norway's proverb that says necessity teaches naked woman how to knit.

It would have been better if Mr President has strong affinity for delegation of responsibilities but he has not, considering outcome of the presented 2016 Budget to NASS. It is now clear to all and sundry that the current government is unprepared for governance. Even Buhari himself has admitted this by saying he came at the wrong time to govern. Buhari and APC are doing more of politicking than governance and this is affecting all their outings. From TSA commission fee to inconclusive elections to budget of change that turned to fraud, in fact the list is becoming endless.

We expected the government to salvage the nation from global economy downturn with appreciable policies but what we are having now is a government that is bent on passing buck to past government, political vendettas and always fail to admit when it errs.

How could a government that promise change will steal, replace and later disown its budget? Till now, no apology has been rendered instead it keeps bringing webminster words like mafia, saboteurs to defend a national embarrassment. Our advice for this government is to withdraw this profligacy entourage called budget of change and present a reasonable one. If not the sacking spree will justify our earlier claim that this government is only replacing them to reward its sponsors' list.

At this juncture, we don't need any rocket scientist to discern the state of our economy and Mr Buhari should stop thinking that as a retired Army General he will know it all. If Financial Times and Bloomberg are enemies to our nation, we don't think our economists like Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Pat Utomi who are ardent supporters of this government will toe same path with these foreign analysts.

What benefit will "I will not kill Naira" do to the innocent public that 98% of their daily transactions reflect happenings from parallel market of foreign exchange? No matter how good an intention sounds without facts and figures of reality it will remain a harmful substance in economics.

It is high time we stopped these stringent policies that keep widening the gap between official and parallel markets' rates.

It is high time we stopped passing bucks and face reality.

It is high time we stopped having 4 media aides to a President of prudence and leaned cabinet when no Chief Economy Adviser has been appointed.

It is high time we stopped thinking that melodrama from EFCC, DSS and fifth columnist media outfits can replace policies for good governance.

It is high time we stopped thinking that foreign aids will come without consequences as no country is a father xmas.

We are saying it again, the vacuum created by the wasted first six months cannot be underscored with the charade of shame in 2016 budget and this government should desist from justifying what is alien to our style of governance.

Good Governance Advocates is saying to Mr President to listen less to his inner caucus and praise singers but give more attention to his critics.

Dear Writer,

Please do well to read this article below.
Your points were not only baseless but ignorance. It seems you are coming from the moon of fantasy, any government owing workers is heartless.

My advice for you is to get facts and figures on public discourse next time. So that you don't write base on sentiments and mere sayings.

IT IS TIME FOR LESS POLITICKING AND MORE GOVERNANCE

This is a clarion to all occupier of government seat to brace up and start working.
Eight months out of forty-eight means 18% of their current terms had gone with electoral tussle. We are glad that election petitions are gradually winding down with the major ones settled by the Supreme Court. In our clime, the first year of 4-year term is for adaptation and familiarization, then 2years for governance and the remaining one year is politicking for reelection or further post.

To those Governors that are still basking in euphoria of victories from Supreme court, your jubilation should be over by now and face governance.

For the PDP Governors who sailed through the needle's eye of the law, now it is time to tell the world that you will justify the mandates given to you by the voting public. You must surpass electorates expectations by providing good governance without political sentiment. There is a virus going on in the political seats, this is situation where elected people are making governance selectively based on votes received.

Also, to the beneficiaries of 13% derivation, it is evident that are your States can hardly show any impact of this fund to the point of owing pensioners and workers their emoluments.
It is time to justify that you are better managers than your opponents and predecessors.

Once again stop jubilating and get back to work for the governed to smile.

If you cannot be trusted with ordinary budget how can we entrust you with our commonwealth.

A government that keeps shifting blame after every error lacks leadership qualities to manage Nigeria.

Why is every outing of this current government always a sham, from TSA commission fee to Inconclusive elections to 2016 Budget?

When your budget is corruption and you are fighting corruption, the best way to fight corruption is to budget N795mn for website update.

When a government comes up with different terms; technically, mafia and so on to cover up.

It is better we have APC as opposition than ruling party, they are ineptitude when it comes to governance.

In short, 2016 budget should be stolen through backdoor for amendment again.

Your are baseless, you should ask your Governor what brought Osun State down in table of revenue sharing?

Aregbesola was busy mortgaging the future of the state with loans to plant flowers on highways, Opon Imon, inflated road projects and so on.
It is now time for loan repayment and you are crying least revenue allocation. Posterity will judge.

Politics / I Will Not Kill Naira by BestGovernance(f): 2:52pm On Feb 06, 2016
I WILL NOT KILL NAIRA

'I will not kill naira' says President Buhari, though it sounds good but is it real?
Truly, no President will ever want to devalue her country's currency let alone at this point where uncertainties have enveloped our economy. Apart from the current financial meltdown, devaluing Naira in a country where importation accounts for 93% of our consumptions will spell doom for the overstretched public. Even we have extended importation to President, since 97% of our President's inaction and actions usually come from his abroad tours.

Away from emotions can we ask ourselves this simple question, what are those factors pushing our Naira to devaluation? If foreign exchange is by a mere statement why not making N1 = $1?

We need to come with terms, despite all stringent policies on foreign exchange by CBN for over 7months the gap between official and parallel markets rates keep widening.
All these policies to protect our slim foreign reserve and curb capital flight will continue to keep both official rate and parallel market rate at arms' length in as much as those factors responsible remain negative to our economy.

In practical, forces of demand and supply should determine price of any item but we are ignoring this fact. What we are running from have eventually caught us unaware.

Our foreign reserve keep depleting due to dollarisation of our economy and over reliance on oil. It is very simple as oil price slumps, our receipts will keep slumping even if our payments remain constant. So where do we get reserve from? The little we have is again on the path of profligacy true a borrowing spree 2016 budget. Why should we be funding wastage through loans?

Secondly, we don't want prices of commodities(both essential and non-essential) to inflate but what is the reality now? Dollars scarcity has led to desperate sourcing for it in parallel market. Even banks fund their transactions through parallel market. May be we should ask those business men and women why their banks are charging them at the rate from parallel market not official market.
So how many transactions going through official rate compare with rate from parallel market?

Evidently, we are practising something unrealistic. If foreign exchange rate is really at the official rate then why are prices of commodities sky rocketing?

Except anyone want to be economical with the truth, the first 6months wasted by this government has also created part of this economy woe. There should not be vacuum in governance, this government came at a critical point busy doing nothing but irrelevances. As a serious government seeing the economy indicators would have warranted them to put on thinking caps to be proactive. They were cleaning mess but eventually presented a budget of mess through a messing process.

The 2016 budget shows we are not changing at all. A zero based budget as promised later turn to adding of zeros. With countless of unwanted items rearing their heads in the budget. If Presidency is increasing its budget by N14bn at $38/barrel benchmark price for oil then we should not be surprised seeing headquarters of a Ministry proposing N795mn for website update. Even from over N19bn proposed for capital projects in Presidency, 63% of it is going to State House HQ and Medical Centre.
This same capital allocation to Presidency is higher than that of sensitive Ministries like Solid Minerals, Science and Technology, that can join Agriculture in diversifying our economy.

Until all our commonwealth Managers show sincerity in this situation, these cosmetic policies will do us no good.
We were told IMF came not for loans assistance but few weeks later we were hearing loans from here and there.
Surprisingly, another lawyer, Minister of Justice and AGF, Malami came to appeal to our vanity that EFCC recovered N400tn, so where is the money or who re-stole it?
The National budget for 16years was not up to 30% of it. We know many of our readers will be pointing to Jonathan's administration for this woe but time will tell. A sincere government should not be cleaning mess with this 2016 budget.

Candidly, we need sincerity of purpose in governance if we really want the governed to smile. It really don't matter if Mr President keep touring the globe, no country will give you something without taking it back in 20folds.

Wherever the carcasses are there will eagles gather.
Let us make our home conducive for businesses with policies and projects and not charity begins abroad approach.

O ye Naira arise and survive against Dollar.

WHY HOLDING BRIEF FOR SUPREME COURT?

According to Coretta Scott King that “Freedom and justice cannot be parcelled out in pieces to suit political convenience. I don’t believe you can stand for freedom for group of people and deny it to others.”

It is on the above premise we will be standing to address judicial ignorance of many people denigrating verdict of Supreme Court on Rivers Governorship election.

We were surprised that a verdict that its statement has not been made public will gather such condemnation. In fact, we are still wondering where on earth will a court of public opinion be greater than Supreme Court. Why should our patriotism to a party be greater than to our nation?

To make it worse, some quarters posited that the verdict was made to prevent crisis that might occur if a rerun election should be conducted. Why should people be holding brief for the highest court of law in the land? If it is to avert crisis then any politician can be getting votes by all means to win election without electoral guidelines.

To be candid, It seems all these commentators are aliens to politics in Rivers State. Here is the gospel truth, Amaechi lost his relevance in the State when he joined APC. The Riverians saw him as a betrayal trying to plant his stooge as Governor after spent 8years as Speaker and 8years as Governor.

Amaechi left governance for over a year to pursue APC project, he locked up Judiciary for same period.
If Amaechi had his people in mind he wouldn't have exhausted N1bn monthly savings he gathered for 8 years, just to punish his successor.

For those who failed to follow previous judgements on Rivers State election, the 1st instance was rejection of incident forms and acceptance of only ECR's output. But in Lagos both components were joyfully accepted by tribunal.

You were told it was violence all through the State but only witnesses from 12 polling units out of 4,442 came to court. To further cover up rejection of Amaechi by the people of Rivers State, some arranged observers claimed it was violence all through but failed to give percentage of the affected areas.

It will be wrong for anyone to claim the judgement was to make peace reign in the canals.
If we can recall that the CJN, made it known to the public his reservation about outcomes of Election Tribunals and Appeal Courts.

We hereby congratulate the Judiciary for repairing its tainted image.
In the same vein, we appreciate Mr President for the bills sent to NASS in the quest of taming the monster called corruption. Although we should have these in the 1st 6months before commencing the ongoing prosecutions. In addition to these bills, we will suggest a bill that will make looters return same amount looted.

Also, to those boasting to use impeachment as their next tool in Rivers State, must we force ourselves on the innocent public to exercise power drunkenness.

Once again congratulation to our Judicial system.

OBASANJO AND HIS POLITICAL POSTHUMOUS STYLE

Going by the way our former President, Olusegun Obasanjo usually communicate his opinions on national issues, one will be wondering if this septuagenarian has ever been a President of the most populous black nation.

In most cases, his arguments cannot be outrightly condemned or accepted as we cannot take the message without the messenger.
It is only in this clime that people turn to political saints and saviours overnight, truly, 'politics have no relation to morals’ says Niccolo Machiavelli.

History will never fail to remind us of the man who Ghana-Must-Going cash to National Assembly to avoid impeachment in first term and execute third term agenda in the second term. It will never be too late to reopen $16bn expended on power sector without any meaningful result. May be we will need to blame history for not deleting from our memory N360m library that came from 36 States Governors.

Nevertheless, the current economy situation should reflect across board. If NASS budget dropped from N150bn in 2014 to N115 in 2016, it means it has not reflected oil price slumping from $110/barrel to $35/barrel.

Obasanjo would have made his argument balance if he beams his searchlight to his current political godson in Aso Rock.

It will be unfair for anyone to point accusing finger to NASS without asking the executive basic question. Why should a government of integrity proposed N39bn for Presidency at oil price of $35/barrel when it was N25bn in 2015 for same purpose by the immediate past administration with oil price benchmark at $53/barrel?

Does this increase of N14bn justify the current economy reality?
If we are asking NASS to reduce its budget why should Presidency budget increase? Why are we not asking State Governors to reduce their oceanic bogus security votes?

While we are expecting NASS to make its budget's detail public as promised by the Senate President. There should not be any secret in spending tax payers sweats.

Also, to the innocent public your belt tightening continues with a new electricity tariff starting today, 1st February, 2016 and N50 stamp duty burden added last month by CBN.

Our advice to Mathew Okikiola Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo is that he should tell APC to stop making ordinary man sweat for its officials to be licking sweets.

Politics / An Open Letter To Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola by BestGovernance(f): 7:26pm On Jan 24, 2016
AN OPEN LETTER TO MR BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA

Dear Honourable Minister,

We will like to congratulate you again for your appointment as Minister for Works, Power and Housing.

This is to draw your ears to another burden that will be added to the overstretched Nigerians through hike in electricity tariff that will commence by February 2016.
Just barely a week after your appointment you will recall that you were begging Nigerians to accept another hike in electricity tariff so as to enjoy better power supply.

Candidly, it is only in our clime that people pay for public services that will be rendered 4years later by public corporations. Without any reservation this policy is nothing but a yoke to compound problems for the masses.
According to NERC, there won't be monthly fixed charges again when the hike takes effect. This is highly half-hearted, it is like devil using right hand to give his victim something and using left hand to collect it back.

For the sake of the innocent public, this coming hike will be the third in 8 months of our government of change which is against Multi Year Tariff Order 2.1 agreement made in April 2015. The resolution stated as follows "the new tariffs are in the MYTO 2.1 for the period 1 April 2015 to December 2018 and they replace the tariffs in MYTO 2 for the period 1 June 2012 to 31 May 2017". This MYTO 2.1 started 1 April 2015 for Commercial and Industrial consumers while it was implemented 1 July 2015 for Residential consumers.

You can read Vanguard Newspaper dated 3rd June 2015 for further details on this.
www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/the-new-electricity-tariffs-from-july-2015/

Sir, it is in public domain how DISCOs hiked tariffs through backdoor late October 2015.
Let us use consumers under Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company for example. Some residential consumers under R2 category have been paying N19.60 per kWh instead of N18.00 per kWh. Beside this hike, is an untold disparity among consumers on same category. If we should add the new increment to it that will amount to N32.00 per kWh. From the above calculation, removal of fixed charges should not warrant hike in tariff.

Another disgusting part of this new increase was the silence made about the total amount of new tariffs by stating only the incremental values, this is heartless.

Beside this increment, other atrocities these DISCOs are committing are prepaid services using to defraud innocent public. Consumers without prepaid meters are now paying before usage as monthly bills come first week of same month. We are still wondering how they usually arrived at bills for the month that is yet to reach half, if this is not estimation then what is it?.

Sir, you might not know numbers as you have said during ministerial screening but you should beware of ripples effects of this on the masses.
In fact, your romance with the same DISCOs your party defined as Jonathan's associates has put your integrity on a thin line.
While DISCOs' argument that the increment is needed to finance loan received from CBN is baseless. If we may ask why should private companies like DISCOs that got our distribution facilities at bazaar price and loans from CBN be using loan repayment as excuse to increase tariffs?

Sir, we hope you will critically look into all these for the sake public interest.

Also, we will like you to consolidate what you praised immediate past administration for, by putting in place surveillance modalities on our pipelines that supply gas to GENCOs as advised by Professor Nebo, former Minister of Power.

In the same vein, government should mandate DISCOs to close the gap between metered and unmetered consumers. As at now, over 70% of electricity consumers are still unmetered, we don't want Nigerians to keep paying for what they are not using.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" Martin Luther King Jr

Thank you.

50TH YEAR OF MILITARY JUBILEE IN OUR NATIONAL LIFE.

Today 15th January makes it 50years our brothers in UNIFORM struck to be part of our national life. They truncated our nascent democracy with the hope of taking us to a greater level of prosperity. The event that happened on 15th January, 1966 did not end easily as it led to counter coup and later resulted to civil war.
Many said we don't need to look back since we cannot reinvent the past. But it is a common saying that those who fails to understand the past will be doomed to relive it.
Before anybody get us wrong, we are not praying for the military to come back.

Our Uniformed brothers came to power when Nigeria was just 5years and few months. We cannot but mention them in our history as they have accounted for 50% of our national life. They created States to polarise our diversity and put up constitution for us.
Many are saying Military era was better than civilian days. Let us ask from India and Pakistan who became independence same day to tell us their stories. Till today the latter has not recovered from impact of the military. One thing is certain, if our democracy has been allowed to grow we would have been better than this.

Here is the big question, who are the military? They are Nigerians like everyone of us so why are we referring to them as aliens.

Surprisingly, since 1999 those people we are referring to as Military have dropped their kakhi for Agbada. They are stakeholders in our today politics that many are celebrating. Thus, they still dominate our politics from Local to Federal levels.
Since 1999 we have been having retired military officers as Chairmen, Governors and Presidents with the current one being of one of the beneficiaries. So what has changed? They are just changing faces.

Here is our stand, since they have come back in another regalia they should take us back to true federalism and stop this feeding bottle system.

Happy Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Southern Ijaw's Carry Over Election: Another Product of Political Intolerance.

It is hard to believe that a party like APC that robustly benefited from a fair electoral system could not sustain it. Despite all accolades and credits showered on Independent National Electoral Commission from home and abroad in the last general election, INEC is still finding difficult to conduct election in just 8 LGAs.
May be Jega has left with his master piece.

What APC and Prof Yakubu have turned INEC to as Inconclusive National Electoral Commission is like taking a step forward and 10 steps backward.
Surprisingly, many are still wondering why the first two outings for just 21+8LGAs will be consecutively inconclusive. Today, Kogi has been turned to confluence of confusion as the one time apostle of party supremacy is now backing his boy to disregard same.

Without mincing words, there are indications that all these have political undertone. If not, how do we explain why a candidate ran to Abuja in the course of election to restrategise.
It is now on record that INEC under APC will be using 34days to conduct election in 8LGAs.

As we await this coming Saturday 9th January 2016 election in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, it must not drain blood of innocent citizens and the right of voters must be respected by all security apparatus and INEC.

We hereby call on all lovers of democracy to assist our nation as they are taking us back to the old dark days.

Sambo Dasuki's gate and Buhari's anti-corruption war: A tale of many wrongs

We got mails from some of our readers on why we kept muted on Dasuki's gate despite all evidences circulating with whirlwind. Our response to them was simple, we don't take facts and figures from trial made on pages of newspapers, social media and court of public opinions. We told them we are expecting the case to be brought before a competent court so as to ascertain the true figures.

This is because APC lacks numerical acumen. We are still waiting for N6trillion. We were told that it'll trek from foreign lands and when 1million barrels of oil stolen daily by Jonathan's administration will stop.
Our take is that, corruption should not be fought with kids gloves and its approach must be holistic.

Now to Dasuki and his co-travellers in the saga. Finally, the endless list has been summed up to N32billion against $2.1billion and N650billion fanning around. In sum 3.2% of total amount N1trillion budgeted for arms was diverted according to EFCC.

Looking at the direction of the funds and confessions of those involved as fed us by the media, it was clear that the money was diverted for re-election of Goodluck Jonathan. But APC and Buhari have failed to tell Nigerians where they got their campaign funds from. They have also failed to tell us what happened to 96.8% of the fund for arms deal. While we are not supporting criminality but both APC and PDP are guilty of spending public funds on election campaign.

If Buhari could not afford money to pick a form but resorted to loan then where did they get such huge fund to finance a flamboyant election campaign. A former governor from South West single handedly bought jet for Buhari's campaign, another one took loans on behalf of his State to fund same project. Likewise, another who took bonds on behalf of his State to fund Buhari's project. With countless of billboards, posters, radio and TV adverts, and newspapers adverts made by APC. Also, it will not be wrong to recall how much spent by APC to campaign outside the shore of Nigeria, they even spent days campaigning to foreigners in foreign lands.

Therefore, if what Buhari is doing is to fight campaign fraud of PDP in the last Presidential's election he should also remember that 99% of his campaign fund came from donations of commonwealth robbers. He should not forget that his kingmakers stole public treasury to enthrone him in Aso rock. So Buhari cannot benefit from a faulty system to gain power and challenging his co-defaulters of same wrong.

To sum it up, it has been stated clearly in the electoral act how much to be spent on election campaign. As a matter of necessity, it is a clarion call to our assigned institutions to stand up against election campaign spending impunity. It behoves on them to state sources where political parties get their funds from.

APC and Numerals

Our country has never had it raw in political history where a ruling party will be diagnosed of numerical elephantiasis, dialysis, jaundice, and dysfunctional. With the torrent of conflicting figures from the current ruling party on daily basis, it seems better for Nigerians to align with the confession of Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola.

At the Ministerial screening conducted by the Senate, Fashola boldly confessed that he lacked numerical knowledge as he was trained as a lawyer. Thus his financial recklessness of N3million website to N78million was justified and celebrated by many gullible Nigerians. While we thought it was only synonymous to Fashola, records so far have proved us wrong.

Foremost, in October this year, Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai posted on his facebook page that Jonathan, immediate past President spent N64billion on independence anniversary from 2010 to 2014. He placed it beside N70million spent by his current boss for the same anniversary this year to justify their financial innocence. However, this came out false as N2.2billion(where N1.7b was for Golden Jubilee in 2010 including investitures) was expended. From the record, money spent in 2013 was N45million. Thanks to BudgIT company that brought out details.

There exist also a false allegation made by Mr Adams Oshiomole of Edo State that N140billion was paid as consultancy fee for Second Niger bridge by Jonathan's administration. However we got a twist that the project was to cost N117billion ...thus we ask how come consultancy fee will be higher than the project

Also, they made Nigerians believed that Dasuki santa out $2.1billion and N650billion meant for arms deal but only to charge him and others to court for N32billion. You can read details of Dasukigate in our article tagged: "Sambo Dasuki's gate and Buhari's anti-corruption war- A Tale of Many Wrongs"

Back to the matter, these instances are few of many numerical dysfunctioning of Buhari and his co-travellers in APC.

It is surprising that the Presidency usually turns deaf ears to these numerical hypertension just to keep enjoying the melody of praise singers. Another setback is that none of these false trumpeters has apologised for misleading innocent public whenever the truth unfolds.

It is high time APC stopped campaigning after election as they are now in government. They should stop all these sensational governance and face reality.

To wrap it up, noise made on Dasuki saga cannot distract us from perennial fuel scarcity and hike price created by ineptitude of this government.

Politics / Has Jonathan Not Handed Over To Buhari? by BestGovernance(f): 7:20pm On Dec 21, 2015
Has Jonathan not handed over to Buhari?

The above question was raised by an old woman from Kastina State about 4 weeks ago. Her submission came as a result of what she observed as the state of the nation. The question raised is evident to all. We were told that GEJ was the problem and we should help them remove him by votes, which 25% of 60million eligible voters made by INEC did. While 20% did not and 55% sat on the fence.

Today, 21st December, 2015 will make it 58days that Nigerians have been facing fuel crisis with sky rocketing pump price. It is a crystal clear that this government is not doing anything reasonable to solve this perennial problem.
How can someone explain essence of billions of naira just paid for subsidy? To make it worse they are pushing debate for subsidy removal. How could a party that stood against removal of subsidy by immediate past administration in 2012 be considering same?

Here are confusing stands of APC; When oil price slumped last year, please click the link to read Fashola's punch to GEJ,
www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/oil-slump-bring-fuel-price-immediately-fashola-tells-fg-2/

After the price cut in January this year by GEJ, click here to read Buhari and others punches to GEJ. They said it was too small.
www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/01/nlc-tuc-apc-seek-further-cut-in-price-of-petrol/

In October this year, VP, Osinbajo publicly announced to the whole world in an interview with bloomberg that pump price will soon be reduced and its rumour sparked up that PMS will soon be N57/litre. Read detail here www.channelstv.com/2015/10/23/government-working-on-petroleum-pump-price-reduction-osinbajo/

Also, Kachikwu has been reiterating that subsidy must die for us to live. If 2016 budget should sail through then fuel subsidy will be in cemetery of history. To add to it, Tinubu has also pitched tent with World Bank earlier advice that the demon called subsidy must die.

Here is our submissions, APC met oil price at $64.25/barrel but the current price is below $40/barrel. It means oil price has reduced by 38%. So if we should go by Fashola's analogy in last year December, Buhari should also reduce pump price not to increase it.

Secondly, is there subsidy existence with the current oil price? If a dollar to naira is still N199 officially, then why telling us about subsidy, when at $69/barrel we were buying fuel at N87/litre with subsidy. But now it is less than $40/barrel and we are buying it N100 and above with wanton subsidy.

Thirdly, the shocking news about USA to be exporting crude oil starting from 2016 might bring down oil price below $20 and our revenue strength will reduce.

Now to Mr Super Minister, who is begging Nigerians to take extra burden through another hike in electricity tariff and toll gates. We should remind him that under his party electricity tariff has been increased twice, July 1 and November 1 this year. The worsening part was how the second hike came in through the back-door without NERC's approval. May be he should take time to ask ordinary Nigerians what they have been paying since last October.

One should have expected him to explain what is causing such increase before begging to compound Nigerians' burdens.

Also, for him to be reinventing toll gate on roads that are not motorable is inhuman. We will like to remind him of N5 that was added to fuel price when OBJ demolished toll gates, will he give us back?

In sum, APC has failed to understand the ripple effects of all these economy indicators on the common man. Market prices of basic items have increased astronomically and millions are suffering than the way APC met them.

Let us join the old woman from Katsina State to ask them again if Jonathan has not handed over to them.

It is on this premise, we are urging every stakeholder in Bayelsa for tomorrow's election to eschew violence and embrace peace. After tomorrow 5th December, 2015, there will still be Bayelsa State, people will still go to schools, business owners will still operate and another election will still come.

Therefore, we should all know better by now that be it APC or PDP none worth our blood as sacrifice for power tussle.

To Buhari and the new INEC helmsman, this will be their second shot, so whether it will be in sands of time for good or bad it is left for them as the story of the first shot is yet to end.

Finally, we hope that no event either natural or unnatural will create another lacuna in our constitution and electoral act again.

Politics / Are They Talking To Village Idiots? by BestGovernance(f): 8:42pm On Nov 30, 2015
ARE THEY TALKING TO VILLAGE IDIOTS?

Many a time when our leaders talk they do forget their audience. We are complaining about incessant junketing by Mr. President and one man is justifying this with flimsy excuses. Mr President is currently in Paris for Climate Change Summit and this make it 13 times our President will be out of the country in 6months.

We are talking of Garba Shehu, who claimed the trips are more essential that Buhari must be there. It seems business of government is less important to his boss.

He furthered denigrated immediate past government for using 150 delegates against 50 delegates of his current boss. Since they are not good in numbers we will school them. If a man travels with 50 men for 13 times in six months and another man travels with 150 men for 3times in 12months. Then the former will spend more than the latter.

To make it worse, he claimed his boss delegates are collecting peanuts as estacode, so who approved the reduced estacode.
These people are heartless for justifying public funds wastage when our economy is in coma.

While we are not saying Mr. President should not travel, at least he uses it to have chat with foreign media and from there we do get his side of the governance. "Charity begins from abroad"

Another disappointing gesture, was El-Rufai recent comment. He posited that the current situation in the country is beyond what human power can resolve. So, is he trying to tell us another version of change promised?.
May be he has forgot he told us how past government officials were returning stolen funds.

Also, we heard of Mr. Lai Mohammed calling for self regulation in the online media. So he too can forget quickly how he fathered propaganda and disrespected immediate past President, all in the name of playing politics. He has sold the tares and he is not in the right position to uproot it.

To this end, we will advise all spokesmen to understand that their audience are not village idiots.

God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Buhari And The Fate Of Judiciary by BestGovernance(f): 8:13pm On Nov 30, 2015
BUHARI AND THE FATE OF JUDICIARY

It is a truism that President Buhari promised many things and one of which was adherence to the rule of law. Surprisingly, this particular promise is gradually going to the bin of denial.
Earlier we thought the judicial flagrant was as a result of the lacuna created by lack of Attorney General of Federation but the music has not changed.

The refusal of bail to Nnamdi Kanu and disobedient to verdict of Supreme Court on Dasuki saga were negative pointers to what Buhari promised. If this is his own version of rule of law then judiciary has lost its savour as hope of a common man in this dispensation.

Let us reiterate our stand on lawful prosecution, any prosecution must be within the ambit of law and anyone guilty must face the music.

For keeping Nnamdi Kanu behind the bar beyond stipulated time frame before charging him to court and after brought him before court yet bail was denied, is a departure from a democratic government that practises FOI act. Kanu might not be absolute but his fundamental right must be respected.
At this juncture, we believed Nigerians should ask themselves why Biafra resurfaced after 45years? or does it mean we have been patching it over the years?

Now to Dasuki travails, his prosecution has gone to persecution except for those that cannot discern the script. Dasuki acted on order of his Boss, IBB to be part of those who arrested Buhari about thirty years ago at the eve of Ramadan festival. It was same time Buhari and his spin's doctors arrested Dasuki. As if that was not enough, he was denied to travel out for medical treatment after the Supreme Court acted in his favour.

They did not only flaunt order from the highest Court of the land, they brought in an interim report from their committee to justify their impunity.

After critically looking at the report and its application, here is our submission;

- For a committee that is meant to look into funds activities of Defence Ministry from May 2007 to May 2015 and single out Dasuki in her interim report shows a bias starting.

- If a serious committee like this can rush to her paymaster to submit an interim report just to buttress impunity, then we should not expect much.

- The report itself failed on several stages, for stating that Dasuki was responsible for what happened between March 2012 and May 2015 while he was appointed June 2012 shows another incoherence.

- Also, the half-hearted report told us over N660billion was budgeted and siphoned but only picked Dasuki as the only thief. May be they have forgot that Buhari's current Minister of Interior, Dambazzau was Chief of Army Staff between 2008 and 2010 which fell within period investigating.

Our stand is that prosecution should not have any playmaker behind the scene to suit Mr. President. Even though Dasuki might not be absolute, Buhari should still follow due process. We have travelled through this path before, in the case Tafa Balogun VS OBJ. All we gained from it were his seized cars rotten in EFCC yards in Lagos and recovered funds cannot be traced till today.

Also, to Mr Malami, the AGF, his starting was not on a good note and if care is not taken he might be the worst AGF. Any holder of this office should not be above the law. As a SAN and a chief legal adviser to the nation, we expected him to know better than Mr President, as his actions must not be partisan. Beside his actions on above cases, he has also thrown spanner to the wheel of electoral process in Kogi State. Instead of approaching the Supreme Court for judicial remedy to the lacuna in the electoral act and constitution, he went ahead to advise INEC and APC. This has led to series of litigation flying to the temple of justice and Kogi has now become confluence of electoral confusion.

What surprised us most is perpetual silence of those human right activist lawyers who always take the stage in cases like these. Are they scare of another decree 4?

It is Kanu and Dasuki today, tomorrow it may be another person.
Let us allow laws to take its course.'

AT THE MARKET SQUARE OF CHANGE

"Ni ojueleja, enough excuses, enough blames oh oh oh,
Ani ni ojueleja oh, dem dey give us stories,
Ni ojueleja oh, enough propagandas and lies oh oh oh"

When it was time to elect market leader for a 4years term, the market people rejected their incumbent leader for not given them change at every point of purchase. While the major opponent promised change at every instant of transaction.

However, the market people failed to discern that the same power brokers who made the rejected leader to oversee them, also made one that promised change.

It is now about half a year as market leader, here are the change from the market square.

- At the orange juice corner,
Its scarcity has been twice with the second one yet to end as the inconsistency of the new market leader about subsidy on orange juice posing more danger. He once claimed it as a fraud and later called it untouchable. Despite making himself chief seller, there is no change to enjoy. As at today, oranges are still taking to another market square to be converted to juice as fruit crusher is under-performing.

- At the Cable stand
Cable tariff got hiked twice, July 1 and November 1. The body language that increase its supply is no more there and cable sellers are just rolling out outrageous bills day by day.

- Another popular stand in the market is the Fabric stand. But it is quite surprising that sellers are now using different tape rules to measure fabrics. When Lagoon and River approached the stand for same material, they returned with different sizes. When Tara and Benu did same, stories were different. In fact, on giving out naked fabrics for yam thieves, it was selective as friends of new leader were given tickets to lead their sub-markets.

- Market Night guards
Also, the night guards are no more strong enough to combat omo onile from invading the market. Despite having the new leader from their constituency, they are still using same bow and arrow that they condemned the former leader on.
Today, you can hardly hear about invasion of omo onile in the market papers yet death occurs daily.

- Loans to run imprest.
The same people that condemned every penny borrowed by the former leader have borrowed $3billion in five months with Ewa Agani and ogbonlo sellers taking lead. Beside, another loan request of N2.1trillion has been sent to market makers for approval. This is half of entire imprest for the year and same year is about to end.

These and more changes are now order of the day at the market square.

It is now important we ask for terms and conditions when ever we demand a CHANGE.

KOGI ELECTION: A LITMUS TEST OF POLITICAL TOLERANCE FOR BUHARI AND APC

As Kogites move to the polls tomorrow to elect their choice of leader for another four years, we implore them to eschew violence and embrace peace.

They should all know that politicians are not worth dying for and after tomorrow Kogi State will not cease to be in existence.

However, to Mr New Sheriff and his party, tomorrow poll will be their maiden election as a national ruling party. They should know that the whole international communities are watching to know where they stand. Tomorrow election is so unique that a new government with a new helmsman in INEC will be testing their sincerity on our developing democracy.

In fact, it is time for them to prove to us that all allegations levelled against them are untrue. From refusal of bail out fund that CBN is yet to clear the air to TSA diversion and INEC collusion with security apparatus.

We believed history will not forget immediate past President who allowed institutions to work without interference, even when tough. Even when his party won in Ekiti they tagged it rigging with all kinds of audio tapes that they could not present before any court of law but only placed in the court of public opinion. But when they won in Osun it was democracy.

Our stand is that posterity will judge everyone in our political landscape. Be it APC or PDP, no party deserves your blood.

Kogites, please go out in peace and perform your civic role.

STILL ON TSA FRAUD

Sequel to accusations and counter accusations going on in the public arena concerning alleged contractual bill of about N60billion paid to e-collector for FG, we as a group synonymous to good governance, we will like all concerned stakeholders in this saga to come out and explain what exactly transpired instead of media propaganda.

Meanwhile, as we are waiting for their responses, let us ask those blindfolded followers of the current and past governments these questions;

After formulation of policy comes implementation, so if Sahara Reporters can be so ineptitude of public governance, why shifting the blame to immediate past government?

Under whose regime was TSA implemented or was the current government blind to the financial implication of involving a third party?

When accolades were coming from all quarters to the current government for implementing TSA nobody remembered the initiator, so why is this current government scares of taking responsibility for bloated bill paid to the consultant?

If some Nigerians are perpetually blind to the truth, few ones will not, so who paid owner of REMITA platform N25billion and later accumulated to N60billion, PMB or GEJ?

Finally, who blew the whistle, APC or PDP Senator?

If this is how the change we voted for will be treating us then we are in for more wrongs just like an accountant bossing over a Professor of Curriculum in Ministry of Education.

16YEARS OF PDP MESS: ANOTHER FLIMSY RANTING FROM HALLUCINATIONS

It is quite misleading for Buhari, APC and their gullible followers to keep ranting to our ears that PDP messed up 16years. It is high time we drew their ears to reality.

Since the rebirth of Democracy in 1999, Nigeria has not produced any political party with ideology. All we have had are politicians that jump ship at will when the tides refuse to blow in their favour.

Let us ask ourselves simple question, who is PDP and who is APC? If this misconstrued statement still continue after five months plus in power then these messengers must be schooled.

Foremost, Buhari's decision to join commonwealth robbers to mount Aso seat was a different ethical rules to his acclaimed integrity and gullible Nigerians had failed to discern it. If PDP had fielded a Northern candidate as tailored by their founding fathers, those who left for APC would not have done so and Buhari would not have neared Aso seat.

Those who made Jonathan were same kingmakers that made Buhari king over us. They did not only ordained him but supported him with stolen commonwealth. So why all these hullabaloos, if Buhari and his co-travellers are looking for excuse to cover up, it should not be this particular song.

Moreover, space will not permit us to state it letter by letter details of those constituents who are now saints in APC. However, we will encourage our readers to peruse details made available by Tonye Barcanista through this link, www.nairaland.com/2708570/why-it-illogical-claim-pdp/8#39633657

If Buhari's reference should be accepted then why all these people still living large in his camp;

Olusegun Obasanjo- 8years under PDP as President but now Buhari's navigator,

Atiku Abubakar- 8years as Vice President under PDP but committed money and Hilux buses to Buhari's campaign,

Barnabas Gemade and Audu Ogbeh- former chairmen of PDP but now Senator and Minister designate in APC,

Aminu Masari and Aminu Tambuwal- Speakers of House of Representative under PDP but now APC Governors in Katsina and Sokoto States

Amaechi- 8years as Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly and 7years as Governor in same State but now a sanctimonious Minister designate in APC.

Nasir El-Rufai and Samuel Ortom- once Ministers under PDP but now APC Governors in Kaduna and Benue States,

Rabiu Kwankwaso- once Minister and 7years as Governor of Kano States under PDP but now APC Senator,

Aliyu Wammako, 8years as Governor of Sokoto under PDP but now APC Senator.

George Akume, Bukola Saraki, Patricia Etteh, Farouk Lawan, Timipre Sylva, Chris Ngige, Oyinlola Olagunsoye, Segun Oni, and so on. These are the people that made Buhari President over us.

They were policies makers in the last 16years that Mr Buhari keep referring to as a mess. We put it to Buhari and his co-travellers to tell us who PDP is and who is APC?

For as many that are yet to know political landscape of Nigeria, Buhari only came to fulfil the yearning of the so called owner of YAM and KNIFE named Nigeria, that power must return to the North.

Mr Buhari! Mr Buhari!! Mr Buhari!!! Please face reality and stop fooling innocent Nigerians.

Finally, Nigerians have been bewitched by same politicians that meant no good for them so as to remain gullible forever. If not, they would have known their left from right.

Politics / Re: Taraba Judgement: What Is Good For Taraba State Should Be Good For Benue State by BestGovernance(f): 3:22pm On Nov 08, 2015
TonyeBarcanista:
Just yesterday, the Taraba state governorship election petition tribunal that sat in Abuja nullified the election of Governor Ishaku Darius of the PDP in favor of Hajia Aisha Alhassan of APC. The decision was based on the ground that Architect Ishaku Darius was not validly nominated by the PDP in contravention of Sections 78, 85 and 87 of the Electoral Act(EA 2010). Specifically, the tribunal held that the PDP never had legal candidate for the Taraba poll.

If we are to go by the judgement, then it will be fair for the Benue state election tribunal to nullify the election of Governor Samuel Orthom of APC because his nomination contravened S 78(b)(1)(2), 85(1) and 85(2) of the Electoral Act as well.

Governor Orthom's Illegitimate Nomination:
According to INEC's timetable for 2015 General election, primary election of candidate was slated for October 2 and December 11, 2014.

The APC Governorship primary election for Benue state was originally slated for December 4/5 2014, but it wasn't held. It was again shifted to December 11, 2014(deadline) but NO primary election was held on the said day. No report that any delegate participated in ANY primary election on that day. The party 'elders' settled for a consensus candidate before the midnight of the day. Even the pro-APC Nations Newspaper reported that;

"Chief Ortom emerged after other governorship aspirants stepped down for him at the end of a close door meeting brokered by the senate minority leader, Senator George Akume, in Makurdi."
www.thenationonlineng.net/benue-apc-settles-ortom-governorship-candidate/

In fact, the five other APC aspirants including, Emmanuel Jime, Mike Iordye, Akange Audu, Sen Joseph Waku and Prof Steve Ugbah released a statement on December 12, 2014 to REJECT the arrangement of the so-called party elders in Benue state (see here www.leadership.ng/news/394871/benue-apc-primaries-5-guber-aspirants-reject-ortom).

Further more, INEC was NOT present at the dead of the night to witness the illegitimate arrangement that was held inside somebody's parlour. Let us no forget that Goodluck Jonathan though a PDP consensus candidate, went through formal primaries to fulfill the Electoral Act.

APC Has No Legal Gubernatorial Candidate For Benue state:
Going by the above, the arrangement that brought Samuel Orthom as the APC candidate for Benue state governorship election contravenes sections 78(b)(1)(2) and85(1)(2) of the Electoral Act 2010.

Section 78 (b) (1)(2) of the Electoral Act states: In the case of nomination to the position of Governorship candidate, a political party shall where they intend to sponsor candidates:

(i) hold special congress in each of the Local Government Areas of the States with delegates voting for each of the aspirants at the congress to be held in designated centres on specified dates.

(ii) the aspirant with the highest number of vote at the end of the voting shall be declared the winner of the primaries of the party and aspirant’s name shall be forwarded to the commission as the candidate of the party, for the particular state.

The arrangement that brought Orthom never met the above condition. Hence, the APC technically has no candidate for Benue state governorship election 2015. There is no record that APC Benue delegates endorsed Samuel Orthom as candidate through voice votes or ballot box. There is also no record that INEC witnessed any Benue APC governorship primary election on or before December 11, 2014 which is in contravento to S85 of the Electoral Act.

The PDP candidate Terhemen Tarzor should have been declared as the legitimate winner of the election by INEC and the Tribunal.

INEC's and Judicial Glaring Hypocrisy:
The position of INEC on Taraba and Benue states reeks double standard. While they testified that they never witnessed ANY primary legitimate PDP primary for Taraba state governorship contest, the FAILED to testify same for Benue state. This issue though part of PDP's petition, must be seriously pursued by the PDP at the Court of Appeal to reclaim Benue state to the people.

The Petition tribunal in Benue state unfortunately dismissed the issue on "technical" ground in the rulling on September 21, 2015 in order to keep Orthom in power. This is double standard from the Judiciary. You can't nullify A and Uphold B when they bother on the same matter. I'm optimistic that the Court of Appeal will upturn the verdict.

What is good for Taraba should be good for Benue.!!!
