GENERAL COURT MARSHAL SENTENCES SOLDIERS TO DEATH
.....others for various jail terms

The General Court Martial (GOC) sitting in Maiduguri, Borno State has sentenced a soldier serving in Operation LAFIYA DOLE to death for murder. Other soldiers also bagged jail sentences for various offences ranging from manslaughter to illegal possession of fire arms and ammunitions.

The soldier, Lance Corporal John Godwin, was charged with murder, which is punishable under Section 106 (a) of Armed Forces Acts (Cap A20), Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004, for killing five rescued civilians in Yamteke town of Borno State. The civilians were earlier rescued by troops of the soldier's battalion and were taken for investigation at the time the soldier shot and killed 5 of them.

Another soldier, Sergeant Innocent Ototo, was sentenced to life imprisonment for manslaughter after torturing and killing a 13 year old boy who he said stole his phone. The incident happened at Zamanbari area of Maiduguri metropolis in Borno State.

While Lance Corporal Benjamin Osage and Private Sunday Onwe were also sentenced to 20 years imprisonment each for offences bordering on manslaughter and illegal possession of fire arms and ammunition.

Delivering the judgement, the President of the Court Martial, Brigadier General Gbenga Olusegun Adesina, said that the offences run contrary to Nigerian Army’s Rules of Engagement (ROE) and also against Nigerian Laws and Geneva Conventions which Nigeria is signatory to and which the Nigerian Army as a professional Army holds in high esteem.

All the soldiers’ sentences are subject to confirmation by the Chief of Army Staff, while those of officers are subject to confirmation by the Army Council.

10 years ago, I was in the sitting room discussing with my sibling, while watching Jack Bauer's 24, that Nigeria is very peaceful compared to America. We don't have to worry about terrorists attacks, wanton destruction of lives and properties. How naive we were... Only if we knew what was coming.
The Nigeria problem is just that we are never proactive, always reactive.
Prior to BH activities, Borno was dubbed Home of Peace. Lovely futuristic city with amazing infrastructure. Now calling Borno Home of Peace sounds like a cruel joke.
Someday, one of our neighbor will decide to test our resolve, perhaps, encroach or annex parts of our territory. I just pray we are ready when that happens.
It still disturbs me till today that Nigeria has very porous borders, doesn't have a good data base to capture it citizens. If it was me in charge of affairs, you won't breath Nigeria's air without being properly documented.
I live in Maidugri for years, it was so so peaceful, until 2009 when all hell erupted.

one important thing u guys r missing

mig29

f7n

what is the turnaround time of both of these aircraft's ?

once they land after a mission how much time will it take to run maintenance , perform mandatory inspection checks , replace engine if needed , refuel , rearm , preflight checks etc ?

technical term is maintenance hours per flight hour

the more time they r on ground the more the enemy will pose a risk

the more time they r in air the more the enemy will be at risk
Jst like the war between Egypt and Israel, these was a major factor that changed the game in the air; The turnaround of there aircrafts.

Crashed Indian Army Heron Drone.

These two images have been posted in some Chinese forums as crashed Heron drone of Indian Army which lost it's connectivity with the ground operator and got crashed.

Although these images seems to be fake as the region where the drone crashed is mountainous and close to Doklam Plateau where there is a concentration of Chinese troops.

The Heron is IAI’s most advanced drone with a 40h endurance, maximum take-off weight of 11,685 pounds and a payload of 2,204-pounds. They can be used for both reconnaissance as well as combat and support roles and can carry air-to-ground missiles to take out hostile targets.

The Indian Air Force already operates close to 180 Israeli-made UAVs, including 108 IAI made Searchers and 68 unarmed Heron 1s for surveillance and intelligence gathering as well as a fleet of IAI produced Harpy UAVs, which carry a high-explosive warhead and self-destructs to take out targets such as radar stations.

The Chadian AF had between six and eight Mig-29's before the storm. Two got destroyed in their aircraft hangers in a storm. But that's nothing. They have four SU-24 in service. The presence of French Mirage 2000's act as a force multiplier, but even with the Mirage the Chadian AF strike assets supersedes that of Nigeria by a long shot. The Alpha jet is no match for the SU-24. Neither is the F-7 a match for the MiGs. Nigeria has an overwhelming edge numerically and qualitatively in attack helicopters. Our monopoly on combat drones was negated when the Americans activated their Reaper Drone base in Cameroon and Niger. Technically the France and the U.S can decapitate out leadership with a drone stroke. Aso Rock Villa is without air defense systems. We have two of the most technologically advanced militaries right in Our very own backyard. This should spur Nigeria to embark on a massive defensive re-armament program. The reverse is the case. We are just dragging our feet, crawling. Unbelievable
The truth will always be bitter ......the F7 is no match to the Mig29...unless hastated has someone said; if it's generous grin

Those comparing F-7 to MiG-29 should go and read up air warfare maneuver. You'll see why the F-7 has zero chance against the MiG-29 in most combat conditions.

except the MiG is just been generous.
