Troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) under Operation EASTERN SANITY have intensified offensive operations across the South-East, decisively overrunning IPOB/ESN strongholds and pushing the criminal elements into disarray. The offensive forced IPOB/ESN elements into a chaotic retreat, abandoning critical assets, including an anti-tank Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The failed attempt to deploy the device underscores the group’s desperation and declining operational competence. The IED was safely secured by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Security team, averting potential harm to troops and civilians.

Troops have since established firm dominance over the general area, sustaining aggressive clearance operations and systematically dismantling all terrorist infrastructure. The deliberate destruction of hideouts using chainsaws and bulldozers has stripped the criminals of cover, leaving them exposed, scattered and unable to regroup or mount any meaningful resistance.

In a related intelligence-driven operation on the same day, troops of 82 Division Garrison deployed at Adani in Uzo-Uwani LGA, acting on credible intelligence from the Department of State Services, tracked and intercepted ransom proceeds linked to a kidnapping syndicate. The swift raid led to the arrest of a notorious kidnap suspect, further exposing the group’s reliance on criminality to sustain its collapsing network. Exploitation of the area led to the recovery of a pump-action rifle and the sum of Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000), Cash believed to be ransom funds, from the suspect’s residence.

The suspect and recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities, for a through investigation to track other members of the criminal gang. The operation further degraded the IPOB/ESN’s operational and financial capacity. These outcomes further demonstrate that IPOB/ESN elements are steadily losing ground, resources and cohesion under sustained military pressure.

The Nigerian Army remains unrelenting and fully committed to annihilating all criminal and insurgent elements, denying them any sanctuary. The NA further assures law-abiding citizens of its unwavering resolve to protect lives and property and urges continued public support as operations intensify to restore enduring peace and stability across the South-East.

The Nigerian Army has continued to record significant successes in its ongoing clearance operations against bandit elements, as troops sustain offensive actions across identified criminal enclaves in Bauchi.

In continuation of ongoing operations, troops of 33 Artillery Brigade, [/b]in conjunction with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) team[b], conducted a clearance operation within the Dajin Madam Forest. The operation resulted in the successful clearing of several bandit camps, including the notorious Azuge and Hari camps, further disrupting the activities of criminal elements in the area.

During the operation, troops neutralized a number of bandits, while several others fled under sustained military pressure. In addition, bandits’ family members comprising 6 women and 13 children were taken into custody. Several motorcycles used by the criminals for mobility were also destroyed, further limiting their operational capability.

A cache of items was recovered during the operation, including one AK-47 magazine, packs of tramadol drugs, a pair of police uniform, several military uniforms and 2 horses, all indicative of the group’s criminal activities and attempts at impersonation to commit criminalities.

Troops are currently maintaining a firm hold position within the Dajin Madam Forest to consolidate on the gains achieved and prevent any re-infiltration by fleeing bandits.

In a related development, troops conducted a follow-up clearance operation to Mainamaji as part of the exploitation of the general area following recent air strikes on bandit hideouts. The operation recorded no contact, further suggesting that sustained military pressure has significantly degraded the presence and movement of bandits within the area. The continued success of these operations underscores the effectiveness of ongoing military offensives and the increasing dislocation of bandit networks.

The livestock are believed to have been abandoned by fleeing bandits due to sustained military pressure. Efforts are ongoing to identify and return the animals to their rightful owners.

In Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State, Nigerian Army troops conducted a coordinated clearance operation that resulted in the rescue of 21 abducted victims and the destruction of multiple bandits' camps.
