Your resume is the deciding factor that determines whether or not you secure your dream job. You definitely want it to standout and grab the attention of the recruiter at first glance. I have decided to pinpoint the 10 mistakes to avoid when putting together your resume. If you're about to write yours then you're just in time, and if you've been getting rejections or the silent treatment then it's probably time to reevaluate your resume. Here we go.... 1. BIO DATA: This consists primarily of your name, address, phone number and email . If any of this information is incorrect or outdated then your chances of employment is slim to none. 2. RESEARCH: Your intention is to have your resume grab the attention of the recruiter who might already have a blinding headache from previous reviews. Therefore, do not just compile your resume without first researching the vision and mission of the company and what they require from a prospective employee. 3. LENGTH: Keep in mind that you are not the only applicant vying for that position. In other words, do not turn your resume into an autobiography. Keep it short and precise... two pages at most. 4. FORMAT AND FONT: Do not to turn your resume into a graphics design template. Ensure that the format and font size do not run up and down like a wavy line. Doing so gives the reader photographic epilepsy ...I'm sure you know what means for you 5. SUMMARY: Your career summary is one of the first thing an employer will go through. Do not write a vague summary. Rather, ensure it details your accomplishments and what you're looking forward to. 6. GRAMMAR: Obviously you want to impress the hiring manager with your resume by making it stand out. However, you must be careful not to bust out dictionary required words else your resume will just get tossed out. 7. TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR: There is absolutely no room for for typos or grammatical blunder on your resume. Before sending it out, give it to a professional to peruse and ensure it's grammatical perfection. I hope you have gained a thing or two so far.... There just a few more to go... ...Hang on 8. SKILLS: Putting too many skills in the expertise section just blur the lines for the recruiter. Highlight only skills relevant to the role you are applying for. 9. SPECIFICATION: Each job and company have what they stand for and represent. In essence, your resume mustn't be a one-type-applies to all document. Because what applies to job A would definitely not fly with the employer at company B. 10. ACCOMPLISHMENT: Listing a bunch of tasks you were in charge of gets boring pretty quickly. Be specific on the result oriented duties and remember to keep it simple and straight to the point. Do you have more to add, put it in the comments. P.S: If you would like access to my PDF on securing your dream job with NIGERIA'S N01 job search engine site... please let me know. ©Basmallah Akomolafe #Befabulous

Available capital with no idea of a venture. There's a trend going on online particularly on Fb especially in groups. A member just posts that she has so and so amount as capital; and needs help with the business to venture into with said capital. If the question was put to you... what would be your response? Anyways... moving on As soon as questions /requests like this fly on people's radar, the next thing they do is to pitch their business (most often MLM) to the member seeking help. They hope that their business gets chosen so that the can move up the ladder of success in their business. This is just so wrong and callous on so many levels. The questioner (I'll go with the new Lola for better understanding) is in need of help and hopes to "see the light" as the saying goes; on what to do. Here is a thought for perpetrators: Offer genuine help to Lola rather than pitch your supposed secret formula. Here's how... if you don't know. Ask her a series of questions. Questions like.... 1. What business interests you 2. What did you raise the capital for 3. Is it enough (capital) 4. If not, do you have an alternative plan 5. Why do you want to go into business By the time she's done answering this questions, Lola is fully equipped on what to do with her capital. The next thing would then be how to set her venture up and running. This is where advice on: • Location • Training • Execution will then come in and be appreciated. In essence, Ya'll have improved a girl's lot in life to which she would be forever grateful.

Dr Arikawe Adeolu, an Abuja-based medical expert, on Tuesday the 4th of October, advised that it is safer to trim the hair rather than shaving it off completely. According to the medical expert who spoke with the News Agency, shaving your hair ‘down there’ completely can expose your bodies to different infection. He explained that one of the dangers of shaving or waxing of the hair around the pubic is that, it may crack, expose the skin to bacterial infection, boils, and a breeding ground for organisms like bacteria. “It is usually a small crack which cannot be seen with the naked eyes but due to this crack and loss of integrity of the skin at that level, there is increased the risk of getting an infection. Dr. Adeola stressed that the hair served a major purpose of providing some level of cushioning for the individual, especially during s3xual activity, preventing the skin from rubbing against another and causing abrasion. He noted that if the skin around the pubic region was completely shaved and the individual’s skin came into contact with another person’s skin, friction would be increased due to the skin to skin contact. Adeolu said that trimming instead of shaving completely would help to reduce the risk of contacting S3xually Transmitted Infection (STI), which could also be contacted when fluid from an infected partner’s Instruments came into contact with the pubic area. According to him, if the partner is already infected, the virus in the semen or body fluid can easily penetrate the skin of the other to infect the individual. He said that this infection was mostly caused by a virus known as ‘Molluscum contagiosum’, adding that there had been a significant increase in incidences of such infection in hospitals. “It is a viral infection that is also categorised as an STI. It affects the skin and does not need treatment; usually after a couple of weeks or months, the symptoms go away by themselves. “You also have an increased risk of contacting other STIs such as HIV, Hepatitis, genital warts by complete shaving of the pubic hair,’’ he added. He advised that individuals who were worried about the lack of hygiene due to untended pubic hair should consider trimming rather than complete shaving or waxing of the hair. I saw this write up on a sister’s social media account whose permission I sought in other to post it. |
