PoliticsBlackout Hits Lagos, Abuja And Other Cities As National Grid Again Collapses! by Bifam30(op): 12:56am On Apr 09, 2022
The national electricity grid collapsed again on Friday evening, making it the third time the grid had collapsed within the space of one month.

Some power distribution companies confirmed the development in separate messages on Friday evening.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company stated that the collapse had resulted in power outage in its area of operation, which covered about five states.

In a tweet via its official Twitter handle, the AEDC said, “Please be informed that there has just been a national grid collapse causing an outage in our franchise areas.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and appeal that you bear with us while we await restoration from the TCN (Transmission Company of Nigeria). We regret all inconvenience caused.”

Also, Eko Electricity Distribution Company said the grid collapse affected its entire network.

“Good evening everyone. We regret to inform you that the current outage affecting our entire network is due to system collapse,” EKEDC stated.

It added, “TCN team is working to resolve it as soon as possible.

Sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused. Please, bear with us.”

Last month, Nigeria’s power grid collapsed twice and worsened the energy crisis nationwide, as Nigerians had to contend with fuel scarcity and power outages.

The collapse of the grid on Friday evening, again caused blackout across the country, as homes and businesses were without power to run their activities.

PoliticsWhy FEC Rejected Amaechi’s N3.7bn Security Proposal - Leaked Memo by Bifam30(op): 7:50am On Apr 01, 2022
A leaked memo obtained on Thursday revealed why a proposal for security equipment along the Abuja-Kaduna rail track, which was presented to the Federal Executive Council by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, was rejected.

Recall that Amaechi had while fielding questions from journalists after the train bombing that left at least eight persons dead, said he had predicted the attack and presented a memo to FEC for the procurement of security equipment, but it was rejected.

According to the minutes of the FEC meeting of September 24, 2021, marked EC (2021)236, which was presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, while the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was attending the United Nations General Assembly, Amaechi recommended that a firm, Mogjan Nigeria Limited, be given the contract worth N3.7bn.

The firm, which was incorporated on August 6, 2019, by Prince Godwin Momoh, Chioma Momoh and George Momoh, had a turnover of N84.9m.

“We had doubts about the capability of a company, which was formed less than two years prior and had no track record of handling a contract of N3.7bn or a contract on surveillance systems. The company was also to be paid upfront. Our investigation pointed to a conflict of interest,” said a top Presidency official.

According to the memo sighted by The PUNCH, Amaechi in his presentation stated that the Bureau of Public Procurement had reviewed the process of procurement and had given a certificate of no objection for the contract, adding that the project would be funded from the N71.4bn budget of the ministry.

The minister subsequently asked the council to “approve the award of contract for the procurement and installation of electronic surveillance system and interrogation unit on the Abuja (Idu)-Kaduna (Rigasa) 200km railway monitoring rail intrusion detection system and emergency response system in favour of Messrs Mogjan Nigeria Limited/Cagewox Dot Net Limited in the sum of N3,780,827,410.66 inclusive of 7.5 per cent VAT with a completion period of four months.”

However, ministers in the council questioned the capacity of the firm to deliver as well as the failure of Amaechi to provide proper detail on the capabilities of the equipment.

There was also a scanty record of the company’s past projects, which could prove that it was capable of executing such a project as a report by the Federal Ministry of Transportation sighted showed that the firm had no evidence of carrying out such a project in the past.

The minutes of the meeting read in part, “Some members expressed concern about the quality of the memorandum as there was no description of the surveillance system concept note, brand name, country of manufacture or review by the previous user to enable them to make informed decisions.

“They stated that as sophisticated as the surveillance system was touted to be, there were no indications that it had been demonstrated and tested by the security technology agencies. They equally observed that all the projects were lumped together under one budget line, which they noted was not good enough as each rail line project was supposed to be captured in its individual budget line.”

According to the minutes of the FEC meeting, the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, asked if the equipment would be installed across all rail lines in the country and if there would be a provision for training to enable staff members to acquire knowledge and build capacity on the use of the surveillance system.

Osinbajo pointed out that the solution system was “described in a generic term and whether it had a brand name, adding that the system, being a rail equipment monitoring solution, ought to have a brand name and a comprehensive description of its functions.”

The Vice-President also needed a description of how the system would work.

Amaechi responded by saying that it was just a pilot programme and if it worked, it would be replicated across the country. He said the system would work in such a way that if the rail was tampered with, it would send signals to an observation platform.

“In his remarks, the Vice-President directed that in view of the observation raised by members, there was a need for the ministry to provide further description of the equipment, its brand name, manufacturer and how it worked,” the memo read.

PoliticsSouthern Kaduna Community Rejects Chiefdom Vreated By Gov. El-rufai by Bifam30(op): 9:13am On Mar 30, 2022
Leaders of Adara Community in Southern Kaduna have rejected the chiefdom recently created by Governor Nasir el-Rufai, urging the inhabitants not to recognise the traditional entity.
Vowing to resist the governor’s attempt to foist Hausa-Fulani hegemony on Adara Community, they threatened to visit any native, who recognises the new chiefdom, with severe sanctions.

At a press briefing in Kaduna, yesterday, the National President of Adara Development Association (ADA), Awemi Dio Maisamari, and other leaders of the community said: “Adara nation is compelled to continue raising the alarm on the series of schemes we believe as being engineered by the administration of el-Rufai of Kaduna State to destabilise, subdue and dispossess our community.

“Since the government is no longer disguising his malice against Adara nation, the community has resolved to consistently resist and expose his evolving machinations. The opinion of our people is that it has a grand plan to undermine and supplant the ethnic identities, cultures and authority of indigenous communities in their ancestral lands to consolidate Hausa and Fulani Muslim domination and hegemony.”

According to Maisamari, “Some of the signs of the insidious plots targeting Adara in particular (just as in other areas of Southern Kaduna) include, the unconstitutional boundary adjustment in 2016, which transferred Ladugga from Ikulu Chiefdom of Zango Kataf Local Council to Adara Chiefdom of Kachia Local Council. It is intended to increase the Hausa and Fulani Muslim populations in Kachia and Adara.

“The unacceptable manipulation and alteration of the demography of the area are to form a basis for creating a Hausa-Fulani Muslim Chiefdom in Kachia. This is illegal because no state government has the constitutional power to adjust local council boundaries.”

According to the leaders, the government has already started implementing laws creating the chiefdom in Adara land, in the most arrogant and provocative manner.

“Our aggrieved community is being told loud and clear that their views, interests, rights, grievances, appeals for inclusion, engagement and justice mean nothing because they have no stake in El-Rufai’s ‘new Kaduna State’.

“The above machinations are being planned, developed, hatched and implemented in an atmosphere of insecurity and economic chaos,” they added.

CrimeEye Witness Report By A Survivor Of The Attack On The Abuja - Kaduna Train by Bifam30(op): 12:16pm On Mar 29, 2022
"We boarded the 6:27 train to Kaduna the journey was very typical and uneventful until roughly 25 minutes from Kaduna. We heard a bang and the coach started wobbling. I realized that our coach had derailed and it started leaning to one side; fortunately the train came safely to a halt and then we started hearing gunfire. We all dropped to the floor.

I heard muffled voices with Fulani accents from outside the train, they eventually forced their way into the train screaming in what sounded like Arabic and went to the coach behind ours. They let out some shots which we later learnt killed a passenger rattling them and causing them to leave the train with many passengers from that coach. They continued shooting until they left us. In the meantime, the police escorts rallied together and resisted the onslaught. They exchanged gunfire for so long after the attack.

We remainedon board the train in the dark and in silence until soldiers came and announced their arrival. They secured the train, removed the injured and some of the dead and shepherded (if there's such a word) of the train. We were told by the security details that many coaches had gone of the tracks and so the train wouldn't be able to move further. On getting out I observed that there were steep escarpments on either side of the train. The military helped us all up the steep slope and got us to sit in the ground at the top.

A Brigadier-General whose name I didn't catch addressed us. He said that vehicles were on their way to pick us up. However, we were going to have to walk to where it would be easier for the vehicles to maneuver due to the poor state of the tracks to our point of rescue. We then walked to the Kaduna-Abuja road what we were immediately loaded onto busses and brought to Kaduna. In my case we were dropped off at Leventis flyover at roughly 1:45 am.

We're grateful to God for the deliverance from injury, being kidnapped and death.
Our hearts bleed for those that died in this incidence; it could have happened to any one of us. Let's pray for those they left behind and that this dangerous security situation is brought under control"

PoliticsCreate Ministry Of Political Affairs, Bola Ahmed TINUBU Urges Muslim Leaders! by Bifam30(op): 12:34pm On Mar 20, 2022
- Seeks support for presidential ambition

A presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu has charged Supreme Council for Shari’ah in the country to create department of political affairs to create political awareness among faithfuls towards producing a muslim president in 2023.

Speaking at the Annual National Conference and Pre-Ramadan meeting of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), held at GMT hotel, Osogbo, Osun state, he said Muslims cannot afford to be left behind in political participation nationwide.

While soliciting the congregation’s support towards realising his presidential bid, Tinubu, who was represented by the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Chief Tunde Badmus stressed the need to ensure that muslims, like other groups must ensure that followers participate in the country’s political process effectively.

He adds “Other religious groups have commenced political sensitisation by creating political departments or directorate among themselves to promote their own. You should create a political wing among yourself so that it will further gear your participation in politics, it will be a good platform to support your brothers who are vying for political positions.

“There is a need for us to act toward our prayers, the emergence of a good leader but we need to partake in political activities. Almighty Allah answers our prayer through our actions so while praying let us act towards it.

“Tinubu disclosed that he would visit the council across the state to solicit support to make his presidential ambtion a reality”.

Through the president of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria, I will visit all states of this nation. I can’t be opportune to see all Muslims in Nigeria but through the Muslim leaders, we can make it happen.

Addressing journalists, the Secretary General of the council, Sheikh Nafiu Baba Ahmed, said the meeting was aimed at setting agenda for scholars’ sermon in the month of Ramadan towards encouraging the masses to actively take part in the political process.

“We can understand the reason for the disconnect between the people and the political class. The masses are reluctant to participate in the process because of the way the present administration disappointed their expectations. The political leadership promised a whole lot, the promised to reduce fuel price, build new refineries buy today, there is no fuel anywhere and the masses are suffering.

“However, despite the situation, we want the scholars to encourage people to take part in the process and they should understand the need to keep trying till Allah gives us a leadership that would bring his mercy on the people. There is time to enjoy and time to suffer, but we must keep trying till we get the best out of the nation’s leadership.

“The aim this year is to make everyone to retrospect and bring about change from within so the society can change and expect God’s grace”, he said.

Earlier in his remark, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola said his action in government has always been tailored towards being a good ambassador of Islam, especially being the only Muslim Governor in the southern part of the country.

He also called Muslim adherents to use the period of Ramadan to pray for the country to surmount its various challenges.

PoliticsKaduna APC Chieftain Says CPC Bloc Will Continue To Work For Party! by Bifam30(op): 9:18am On Mar 14, 2022
Kaduna State Chairman of the Defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) who is also an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in the state,
Alhaji Ahmadu Yaro, popularly known as Coca-Cola said any attempt to dislodge the ruling APC over the leadership crisis will fail as CPC bloc will continue to work for the unity of APC because of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Alhaji Yaro expressed the optimism that the party will overcome the current leadership crisis because there are still party members that believe in the party and President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership.

Alhaji Yaro while addressing a press conference at the weekend on the current leadership crisis in the party, said as members of CPC that went into the merger with other political parties which formed the APC they will remain in the party with President Muhammadu Buhari who was their presidential flag bearer in 2011 elections to find solution to the crisis.

The former CPC State Chairman further explained that as one of the founders of CPC he knew the
difficulties the members went through alongside Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party ( ANPP), a faction of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and new Peoples Democratic Party (n-PDP) members including President Buhari to formed the APC in year 2013 and as such they will not allow the party to disintegrate.

He however, cautioned the CPC members in APC to be careful with possible new political parties coming up ahead of the 2023 general elections, saying as politicians they should remain in the ruling party despite the challenges facing the party until the ruling party resolves its crisis.

“Let me use this opportunity to say that APC will overcome the leadership crisis because the crisis is a deliberate attempt to dislodge the party. But the party will not collapse.

“This is why I call on our members, particularly those from CPC not to leave APC for another party because of the current crisis in the party and other challenges. We are with President Buhari before the merger and will remain with him in APC,” He said .

He urged the APC National leadership to find a lasting solution to the crisis because party members are not happy with the situation, alleging that there are people working to sabotage president Buhari’s
administration.

Alhaji Yaro pointed out that the ruling party had done its best in fulfilling most of the campaign promises made to Nigerians from year 2015 to date, assuring party loyalists that the party will not collapse comes 2023.

PoliticsThe Story Behind Governor Dapo Abiodun's 1986 Criminal Record In Miami, Florida by Bifam30(op): 8:59am On Mar 13, 2022
1. In the mid-1980s, Dapo Abiodun, using a pseudonym SHAWN MICHAEL DAVIDS (probably after the popular wrestler, Shawn Michaels) committed 5 felony crimes (credit card fraud, petty theft, check forbgery, etc) in Miami Dade County, Florida

2. On 7th November 1986, he was arrested for fighting/injuring a Police officer and for resisting arrest.

3. While being processed at the station, his finger print was run through the crime database and it was discovered that the Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun being processed for detention was same as Shawn Michael Davids. His crime record and history was thus cemented and he was jailed.

4. Dapo Abiodun's jail number was 8600B9436

5. In 2015, while contesting for the Ogun East Senatorial seat (against Buruji Kasamu of the PDP), he applied for the redaction of his criminal records in Miami Dade, Florida. This act of concealment meant he could lie on his INEC forms that he had no prior criminal records. A perjury offence that could have disqualified him from ever holding appointive or elective office in Nigeria. The redaction was granted in August 2015.

6. Dapo Abiodun's redaction application details are:

7. By law, as someone indicted for crime, Dapo Abiodun is not eligible for any office in Nigeria but through concealment, lies and falsehood, he became the Governor over 5 million people.
PoliticsDid Gov. El-rufai Unknowingly Announce BUHARI'S 2023 Anointed Candidate? by Bifam30(op): 8:51am On Mar 13, 2022
According to reports, Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, says he will “reluctantly” contest the 2023 presidency in a joint ticket with Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation if President Muhammadu Buhari insists. Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, several politicians have declared their ambition for the number one seat while some are still making consultations.

Well, many people see this as El-Rufai being his usual brutally frank self. And has indicated that Amaechi has been anointed by the president. But many Nigerians have reasons to think differently.

Firstly, if that is true and El-Rufai respects the president as much as he wants us to believe in the interview, why would a man of his intelligence and experience in politics reveal the president’s position and preference on a national television? Knowing the implications and upheaval it will have on the party. The alignment of forces at the party’s upcoming convention and primaries, the APC government itself and the overheating of the polity as both the ruling party and opposition parties re-strategize to defeat the so mentioned ‘anointed one’.

El Rufai is too smart and this looks like a strategy to stir up a fierce potent gang up against Ameachi by all the power blocks in APC as well as the opposition. We know Wike will rather shelve his ambition, empty Rivers state treasury to ensure Amaechi never emerges. El Rufai’s statement in this light is therefore not a flippant leak perse but a calculated weaponized tale to stir up a gang up against Amaechi ahead of the convention & primaries.

Whatever it is, this El-Rufai’s interview has underlined the need for the GAC group, who the 2023 presidency is theirs to lose in February next year, to close ranks, put their house in order, squash this feud propagated by sponsored speculators between Tinubu & Osinbajo & come up with a common front in Tinubu, Osinbajo or Fashola.
PoliticsPresident Buhari Asks For Order In APC!! by Bifam30(op): 8:54pm On Mar 12, 2022
President Muhammadu Buhari warns the leaders (and membership) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to desist from name-calling and backstabbing ahead of the oncoming March 26 Convention, remain steadfast and maintain its unity if the party is to continue in the path of victory and its dominance at all levels throughout the country.

President Buhari asks the members to look at the once-powerful, ''main opposition'' Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now enfeebled and adrift and learn lessons in disunity, mismanagement and corruption.

''They failed in 16 years in power and a failure as opposition.

''Yes, we are entitled to our own share of dissent and intra-party discord. These are common in all parties, left and right all over the world.

''But parties splintered by competing egos destine themselves to the worst possible fate,'' the President warned.

''As the country prepares for the long run up to the 2023 presidential election, we all expect a robust debate on the issues that matter and what is going in the APC should be a reflection of this, not the infighting we are seeing. There must be no more distractions ahead of the convention to choose new leaders.''

He recalled that the APC started out with a confidence of victory and the party today enjoys that confidence in nearly two-thirds of our 36 states.

Yet, he noted, this is a party that has been in existence barely for eight years, becoming the dominant party because it has thrown open its doors to defectors from other parties, big and small.

This alone, addition to the fact ''we didn’t start on the note of arrogance of power, nor see government as a vehicle for self-aggrandizement, to be held at all costs, but a vehicle to bring development to all without discrimination-political, ethnic or regional to our dear country made this success possible.''

The party, he went on to note, is proud of the fact that in its short period of existence, it has won two general elections decisively and despite losing a few states in 2019, it steadfastly expanded its pan-Nigerian outlook with significant defections of the opposition Governors and parliamentarians into its fold.

''Given all that is at a stake, we can expect contests into offices as we are now faced with to be heated although candidates and their promoters for party offices are not so much debating policy differences but differences of management, personality, character, and suitability for the most important leadership roles in our country and therefore the continent.''

It is equally clear that over the last week or so, the internal management affairs of the APC have been afforded generous media coverage – over and above its importance to the voters of Nigeria.

It is important to ask what benefits the poor are getting during the period of intense negative coverage.

When precisely the party’s convention is held and who is the party’s chairman is hardly a matter for the average voter: vastly more important is who convention delegates will elect as the party’s flagbearer in the coming weeks to take forward the party’s platform to the people in the general election in February next year.

It is therefore important for the media to put such matters into perspective. No one is debating policy differences here. That is for the general election. None of the declared aspirants and any of those that may step forward will change because of who may be in the party in the chairman’s seat. It is essentially the same party.

Of course the media are welcome to comment on the content of the character of the potential APC candidates; discuss their suitability for leadership; scrutinize their offer to the membership. But to focus on the routine internal divisions and magnify them into what they have become today is a waste of everyone’s time, amounting to no more than a discussion over seating arrangements.

This is not what Nigerians talk of in their communities. They have an inclination only for things that matter.

PoliticsHow Gov. Sani Bello, Abdullahi Adamu And Others Plot For Tinubu Presidency! by Bifam30(op): 11:43am On Mar 12, 2022
As the 2023 general election beckons, some hidden facts have emerged about how some notable Nigerian politicians, particularly in the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), are intensifying their political permutations, calculations, manipulations and arrangements to ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerges the next Nigerian President even at the detriment of other party members and electorates in general.

Recall that just some days ago, Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, after presiding over a meeting of the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, declared himself as the Acting National Chairman of APC, and added that he has the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari and other party members to do so.

However, a reliable source within the party revealed that Governor Sani Bello is being positioned purposely to ensure that presidential ambition of the former Lagos State governor and APC chieftain is fulfilled by all means in 2023.

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello

According to the information gathered, Governor Sani's first assignment is to make sure that the former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu, emerges the National Chairman of the APC in the March 26 national convention of the party, even against the wish of the majority including other notable aspirants.

It would be recalled that initially top aspirants for the national chairmanship position have been Tanko Al'Makura, George Akume, Ali Modu Sheriff, Isa Yugudu, Mohammed Sani-Musa, Kashim Shettima, Danjuma Goje, Abdulaziz Yari, Mohammed Saidu-Etsu and others. However, the source revealed that it is envisaged most of these aspirants will not be totally loyal and devoted to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's presidential aspiration, particularly as it concerns securing the party’s ticket.

Therefore, Senator Adamu who currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has been chosen as the right machinery to making Asiwaju gets automatic ticket of the party, and this is why Governor Sani has been allegedly mandated to manipulate the system and ensure that Adamu becomes the party national chairman.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu

Furthermore, the source disclosed that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to make Governor Sani his running mate once the former is able to secure presidential ticket of the APC based on the arrangement on ground. If these allegations are true, then many will be disappointed in Governor Sani Bello of Niger State - someone many have described as a selfless leader who is ever driven by the will of the masses.

Also, it will mean that even in this century, Nigeria still has a very long way to go in leadership, politics and governance. It is quite unfortunate that while other countries keep advancing, we keep lagging behind. When are we are going to stop being governed by the "Arrangee Government" in our country? Like the late Fela Anikulapo had sung, "...Arrangee Government we dey o egba mi o, na padipadi government we dey ooo..."
PoliticsApc Succumbs To Inec's Affirmation On Gov. Buni As Acting Party Chairman! by Bifam30(op): 1:54am On Mar 12, 2022
After unsuccessful attempts to see through what was described as a palace coup, the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress has said Governor Mai Mala Buni is still in charge of the party as chairman.

This was a sharp shift from the party’s earlier position, in what appeared to be a free-for-all for control of the party’s structure.

Recall that Governor Sani Bello of Niger State had taken charge of the party on Monday with series of activities.

While it was not clear if Buni was sacked, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State cleared the air when he alleged that Buni was removed at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari after being briefed of his reluctance to hold the national convention.

El-Rufai further alleged that Buni had been removed for good and that Sani Bello was fully in charge with the support of at least 19 governors of the ruling party.

The leadership crisis peaked early Friday when the Independent National Electoral Commission refused to acknowledge Bello’s leadership, stating categorically that only Buni and John Akpanudoedehe were the recognised chairman and secretary, respectively.

This was after Bello had written INEC to intimate and invite it to observe the party’s emergency NEC meeting scheduled for next week.

Bello had also denied receiving letter from Buni transmitting all powers to manage the affairs of the party in what appeared to be a struggle for power with Buni.

But INEC’s rejection of Bello prompted a hastily arranged press conference on Friday, which was handled by the spokesman of the CECPC, Mr Ismaeel Ahmed, noting that there was seamless transition of power to Bello from Buni, as against Bello’s denial.

Ahmed who tried hard to make a u-turn said, “Somebody asked, what is the position of Governor Mai Mala Buni in the party, I think it’s pretty simple. I don’t know why this is a complicated process for a lot of people not to understand. Since the inception of this CECPC on June 25, 2020, whenever the chairman is not around and Governor Sani Bello is around, he acts on behalf of all as the Chairman.

“It has always been the case that has never changed. It has always been the case. Now, we have a Convention on March 26. The chairman wrote a letter and transmitted power to Governor Bello to enable him go for medical treatment. Those are two emergencies. He has a medical emergency, that cannot wait for Convention. We have a Convention that cannot wait for him to be healthy.

“So, one has to leave for the other, whichever, he has transmitted a letter and Governor Sani Bello has been acting appropriately. Why is it so difficult for people to understand that? Why is it so difficult for people to simply understand? I cannot understand why people are making this allegation.

“So, Governor Sani Bello is acting the full authority of the Caretaker Committee and with the full authority of the stakeholders and with the full consent of Governor Mai Mala Buni. It is very clear and simple. If anybody has issues with any of our decisions, he can head to court. For now, we are doing it with the full backing of the law. So, there is no ambiguity on this, absolutely none.

“On the issue of Senator John James Akpanudodehe, what is the position because I spelt others out the other members of the committee, but I didn’t say anything about other people as well, we just talked about members of the committee. I didn’t talk about their positions, whether secretary or chairman, since they have their responsibilities spelt out for them.

“The other members are the ones told to come back to handle specific departments and that is what we are doing. At the full course of time, once all these are over, I will be able to brief you. But for now, these are the responsibilities of every member.

“As part of efforts towards the hitch-free conduct of the March 26th National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) stepped up preparations this week.

“Convened a meeting chaired by the Acting Chairman and Governor of Niger State, H.E. Abubakar Sani Bello, where strategies were adopted to fast-track the process towards conducting a National Convention.

“The CECPC committee chaired by His Excellency the Governor of Niger State has issued a notice for a meeting of the National Executive Committee of the party on March 17, 2022. As usual, a number of important issues will be discussed at the meeting.”

Meanwhile, the party has announced the postponement of its zonal congresses earlier slated for Saturday, to March 26, 2022, the same day of its national convention
CrimeBandits Storm Kaduna Mosque, Abduct 14 Worshipers! by Bifam30(op): 12:44am On Mar 12, 2022
Daredevil bandits have invaded a mosque in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was has learned.

The bandits abducted about 14 persons and rustled an unspecified number of cattle from Tudun Amada village on Thursday evening.

It is currently unclear if there were any casualties.

Eyewitness reports reveal that the heavily armed bandits divided themselves into groups; some were at the mosque while others moved from house to house abducting people.

Some of them were however busy rustling hundreds of cows, sheep and goats.

Heightening banditry activities in northern Nigeria has displaced many and left a lot dead. In many instances, locals are coerced to pay ransoms for their loved ones to be released.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has charged Nigeria’s security agencies to ensure the enforcement of the banditry proscription order of the federal government.

It would be recalled that the September 2021 Proscription Order published in the official gazette 108, declared the activities of bandits and similar groups as terrorism and proscribed in any part of the country.

The Green Chamber also mandated the security agencies to rise up and curb the rising killing of innocent persons by bandits
CrimeLagos Brt Driver Raped Me Inside Bus, Says Victim Also Presents Evidence! by Bifam30(op): 6:50am On Mar 11, 2022
Nice (Andrew) Omininikoron, the driver of the Bus Rapid Transit vehicle arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a passenger, Oluwabamise Ayankole, has been accused of engaging in illicit acts with another female passenger in Lagos State.

The female victim, who spoke exclusively to PUNCH Metro, accused Omininikoron of raping her on November 25, 2021.

This came amid calls for justice for Oluwabamise, whose corpse was recovered at Ebute Ero, after she was last seen on the BRT bus driven by Omininikoron.

Narrating her ordeal to our correspondent on Thursday, the lady accused the 47-year-old of raping her on the BRT bus.

The former sales girl at a shop in Ajah said after she closed from work around 8pm, she boarded the BRT bus driven by the suspect.

The driver was to convey her from the Alesh Bus Stop in Ajah, to Jakande, along the Lekki Epe Expressway, when things took another dimension.

She said, “While on our way, he switched off the light of the bus, but the AC was on. But as we approached the first toll gate coming from Ajah, he suddenly parked the bus. He then told me to come and sit at the front and started asking me different questions.

“I saw him using a drug and my thinking was that he parked the bus to use the drug before time ran out. A few minutes later, he started making advances towards me and I saw that his manhood had risen up. I became very uncomfortable and insisted on getting down, but he didn’t open the door.

“He said he wanted both of us to go and chill and that he wanted to have sex with me, but I declined. Suddenly, he brought out a knife and dragged me to the back seat of the bus. He told me to take off my clothes, but I refused. He threatened to kill me. He tore my gown, forcefully removed the biker short I wore and raped me. I felt sad.”

The victim said she could not call for help because Omininikoron parked the bus at a desolate location, adding that he refused to let her go after allegedly raping her.

She added, “He insisted on driving me to my destination at Jakande Bus Stop. When we got to my bus stop, he still didn’t open the door. He demanded my account number and started pleading over what he did. He said he wanted to send money to me to buy painkillers.

“I refused to give him my account, but he kept demanding and refused to open the door. Before he raped me, he seized my phone, and because I needed evidence, I gave him my account and he sent N3,000. He then opened the door and I left.

“I could not speak out because I was ashamed of what happened and believed I could not get justice. But when his pictures started circulating online regarding the death of the lady (Oluwabamise), I told my friend that I knew him (Omininikoron).

“After seeing his coloured picture, I went to my bank, requested my statement of account, traced the day he sent me the money, and it was the same name, Omininikoron Nice, which was in the picture circulating.

“I told my friend about it and she introduced me to a rights activist. Some people may question me for speaking out now, but I am speaking out because of the girl. That man must not be freed because he is responsible for what happened.”

A statement of account provided by the victim confirmed Omininikoron sent N3,000 to her on November 25, 2021.

A video clip of her torn clothes was also seen by our correspondent.

The police spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, urged the victim to make a formal report of the incident.

He said, “If the victim has a case against him, she should report at the nearest police station or the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, and it will be investigated.”

PoliticsGovernor Akeredolu Alleges Buni Was Sacked For Collaborating With Yahoo Yahoo Go by Bifam30(op): 6:04am On Mar 11, 2022
The Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has alleged that the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, perfected moves to create a crisis in the All Progressives Party (APC) and ensured that the March 26 national convention does not hold.

Akeredolu said the sack of Buni as APC’s Chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), was long overdue.

He stated that the Yobe State Governor had alongside a few of his colleagues, whom he referred to as ‘yahoo yahoo’ governors plotted to frustrate the convention from holding.

The governor in a statement he personally signed on Thursday, said that President Muhammadu Buhari and the majority of the governors’ quick action to save the party from “internal scavengers” was a tremendous move in stopping the party from falling off the cliff.

Abubakar Sani Bello, the Governor of Niger State, became the acting chairman of the party two days ago, following reports that the Buni-led CECPC was planning to sabotage the party’s next national convention.

While assuring Bello of the support of the majority of APC governors in organizing a successful national convention for the party, Akeredolu stated that despite the bungled efforts of those opposed to a hitch-free convention, the APC will remain great.

The statement partly read “We, the Governors are for the party except for the few ‘Yahoo, Yahoo’ Governors (apologies to Salihu, former DG of the Progressive Governors’ Forum) who were hand in glove with Buni to circumvent the will of the majority of our Party (APC) members.

“Progressive Governors in the true name, mostly all of us, are determined to see our Party through these patchy parts at all cost. None of the scanty numbers has the guts to carry out their imaginary threats as reported in sponsored stories. We dare them to leave the party.”
PoliticsApc Crisis: Inec Rejects Governor Bello As Chairman And Mamman As Secretary. by Bifam30(op): 5:54am On Mar 11, 2022
The crisis bedeviling the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) may have started yielding negative effects on the party, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rejected the nomination of Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State as the Chairman of Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party.

According to an inside source, Governor Bello, upon resumption as Chairman of CECPC of APC, transmitted a letter dated 9th March, 2022, informing INEC of the change of guard at the party’s national secretariat.

Bello introduced himself in the said letter as Chairman while Processor Tahir Mamman was introduced as the acting Secretary of the party.

Both Governor Bello and Professor Mamman were said to have signed the letter.

The source also added that the letter served as notice to the commission, of APC’s CECPC decision to hold a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for next week Thursday, 17th March, 2022.

But, in a swift reaction, the Commission was said to have replied the letter on Thursday, 10th March, 2022, saying it was not aware of any change of guard in APC.

The document, according to a source at INEC, remains strange as there was no time the Commission was invited to observe or monitor any meeting where the changes took place, hence, the letter was rejected.

“Section 82(2-3) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) makes it mandatory for all registered political parties in Nigeria to involve INEC in any meeting, congress or convention where elections or decisions to nominate executives or governing bodies of the party shall be taken.

“The same section also provided that, in a case of replacement of any vacant position in the party, INEC must be fully involved too”, the Source said.

The source further maintained that the Commission was not invited to any meeting or Congress where Mai Buni was removed as Chairman, and as such, could not deal with what was not legally constituted.

“The APC will be heading for an illegal NEC meeting by next week by the provision of the law. It is the duty of the Commission to properly guide the party, just as it will do to any of the opposition parties”, the Source added.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked Governor Dave Umahi, his deputy, Eric Igwe, and Hon Francis Nwifuru, Speaker of the state assembly, over their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgement, on Tuesday, held that their defection was unconstitutional.

The two-term governor, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joined the APC in 2020.

Shortly after the governor and his deputy crossed over to the APC, the speaker and some lawmakers joined them.

In his ruling, Ekwo ordered all the lawmakers who defected to vacate their seats.

The judge held that all salaries and allowances collected from the period of defection to the present should be forfeited to the government coffers.

PoliticsReason Why I Conceeded Defeat To Buhari :- Former Nigerian President G.e.j by Bifam30(op): 12:50pm On Mar 05, 2022
“I was fully informed about the manipulations, intrigues, intimidation and betrayals. The consequences of not conceding were only better imagined. My natural instinct for peace automatically surfaced. I was going to make a decision which reflected my commitment to that ideal. This is the foundation of my essence. In my periodic projections into the future, I did not see how I would be presiding over any kind of chaos. I was prepared to promote the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria."

This is a huge sacrifice, but I hope my readers believe me when I say it turned out to be one of the easiest decisions I ever took while in office.

"With my mind made up, I knew it was time to inject peace into the tensed polity, especially before INEC completed collation.

“I was in my living room with some ministers, aides and friends. Among them were the Coordinating Minister for the Economy/Honourable Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka and Waripamowei Dudafa, my Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs.."

“They were recommending sundry alternatives, but I was quiet in the midst of their discussion. I hugged my thoughts, figuring out how to do that which was best for the country. My personal interest was receding rapidly and the interest of Nigeria looming large. I excused myself and left the sitting room. I walked into my study. Even here, my mantra was a strong circle around me, supporting and comforting me. Let the country survive. Let democracy survive. My political ambition is not worth people being ‘soaked in blood’.

“More reports flowed in and I could not wait anymore. The announcement of the final result could take issues out of all our hands. It was time for me to take action and bring peace to the nation. I felt I was destined by God at that point in time to inject the peace serum and douse the palpable tension in the country.

“I reached for the telephone and placed a call through the State House operators at about 4:45 pm. A peace I had never felt since my political sojourn, descended on me. It showed me where I had been in the past 16 years and where I was then. I smiled at the thought of what I was about to do. I waited calmly for the person at the other end of my call to answer.

Buhari: “Hello Your Excellency!”

Me: "Your Excellency, how are you?”

Buhari: “I am alright, Your Excellency”

Me: “Congratulations!”

Buhari: “Thank you very much Your Excellency”

“For several seconds the line was seized by the loudest silence I have ever known. Then we had a brief discussion. I could sense his relief too. He knew what could have been.

"Here is a man who had contested three times and lost. Maybe my gesture humbled him against his expectations because he thanked me and we talked about the handing over processes.

“Everywhere all over Africa, Asia and other parts of the world, countless deaths have been recorded on the scores of elections and power disputes. I mentioned Cote d’Ivoire earlier, where people died in their thousands during post-election violence. A similar scenario had unfolded in Kenya. African nations are more prone to post-election violence than other parts of the world."

Only very few African nations have not experienced post-election violence on a very grand scale or some bitter power tussle fed by tribal or ethnic sentiments.

"I hung up the phone, confident that my decision was right for Nigeria and would probably have a great impact on Africa. This may well be the beginning of a new perspective to power; a perspective which places national interest above personal preference. It should not always be about winning."

"After my conversation with Muhammadu Buhari, which lifted my spirit greatly, I felt better and lighter; it was time to break the news to my Ministers and aides. I wandered back into the living room. These are people I came to know after a period of time. I anticipated what their response would be."

“In my new found calm, I stood before them and told them what I had just done. The elections were over. I had called and congratulated Muhammadu Buhari on his victory. It was time for all of us to move on. Stunned silence greeted the room for some time and after they overcame their shock, they all congratulated me."

“My Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, sought my permission to tweet my phone conversation with Muhammadu Buhari. I obliged and he did. The country was no longer waiting for the declaration of the election results. The nationwide tension automatically dissipated as though a red hot piece of iron had been dipped in a bowl of water.’’
