kalufelix:You call me a "TOUT"? But why should I be surprised? It's very typical of your ilk and everything you stand for. Obviously your party man telling lies is not a tout but I am for challenging him. Please create your own thread where your party people can wallow in your mud; I created this thread for people of substance. You may be on my thread but my dear, we don't belong in the same circles. Besides hiding cowardly behind your phone to type insults, you are nothing to me |
All Akwa Ibom Appeals have now been heard and Judgment reserved for later today. The Court is now starting with the Abia Appeals starting with SC/18/2016: Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Ph.D) V. Alex Otti. It is the same panel that heard the Akwa Ibom Appeals and the CJN, Mahmud Mohammed is presiding |
fizzile:And where exactly is the bias? Someone posted that Supreme Court has given Judgment in favor of Alex Otti and ordered the CJ to swear him in which is totally false when I am sitting right there in Court; does slapping him down for telling lies amount to bias? And where did I say I am not partisan? Of course I am partisan and support some candidates whether in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Anambra, Abia. BUT I AM NOT BIASED IN MY REPORTING OF THE FACTS TAKING PLACE IN THE SUPREME COURT today. I hope you are intelligent enough to know the difference between partisanship in respect of the substance of issues and partisanship IN THE REPORTING of the issues. I will give you only the true facts of what is happening; where my sympathies lie is not for this thread |
Submissions by Counsels in the Akwa Ibom Appeas still ongoing. Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN is still addressing the Court |
phiphis:Hahahahahaha, you APGA people are just pathetic and sore losers. The Supreme Court is still hearing the six Appeals from Akwa Ibom State. Abia has not been mentioned yet until later in the day |
Another appeal from Akwa Ibom State (SC/7/2016) is called up. Same appearances and proceedings as before; same arguments canvassed |
Appeal No. SC/6/2016, appeal by PDP, Akwa Ibom now called up. Same appearances, procedures/proceedings and submissions by Counsels as before. Tayo Oyetibo, SAN, Lead Counsel for PDP urges the Court to allow the Appeal |
The Court has started sitting again SC/4/2016 (Akwa Ibom) now called up. It is another INEC Appeal. Appearances and procedures/proceedings are as before |
The Court rises to return very shortly. They announce that Judgment in all the Appeals already heard by them will be given later today. There are still about three other Appeals from Akwa Ibom which have not been heard. They are likely to start from those when they return Abia Appeals still loading.......... |
Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN for 1st & 2nd Respondents identifies his brief and orally amplifies it. He urges the Court to dismiss the Appeal. The arguments canvassed are substantially the same as before |
Appeal by INEC No. SC/2/2016 (Akwa Ibom) now called up. Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu is Lead Counsel for the Appellant in this case (INEC) and announced his appearance along with his other colleagues; other appearances are substantially the same as before. Dr. Ikpeazu identifies his Brief and Reply Brief and adopts the same and urges their Lordships to allow the Appeal |
Appeal No. SC/3/2016 (Akwa Ibom) now called up. Same appearances by Counsels as before. Counsels identify their Briefs, amplify them orally and canvass similar arguments as before |
Kelechi2020:Of course not; he is in the Governor's Lodge at Asokoro waiting for the outcome. You can join him there >: ![]() |
Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, for the 1st & 2nd Respondents identifies his Brief, adopts it and submits that the Judgment of the Tribunal and the Court of Appral is bifurcated into two as if the Courts below foresaw the decisions of the SC in Zamfara & Rivers. Those decisions WERE NOT BASED ON CARD READERS. He says it was rather based on direct evidence of what happened in the field and that to that event, all the Voter's Registers, result sheets and even video clips of relevant incidents were tendered. He says this was the only case where candidates came to Court to give evidence that they were disenfranchised including Governorship candidates of DPP & Accord parties, a former Governor, Obong Attah & even the Appellant also testified that they were disenfranchised. He says that the Tribunal said they were not relying on Card Readers but rather on "Raw evidence" and that ballot papers were tendered which never happened in any other Election case. Urges the Court to dismiss the appeal and affirm the decisions of the two lower Courts Other Respondent Counsels say they did not file Briefs as they are unable to support the Judgment and urge the Court to allow the Appeal |
Dodo, SAN is now arguing the Appeal by orally amplifying the submissions in his Brief. He says the twin pillars of their case/Appeal rests on Card Reader and issue of Collation of results |
Appeal No. SC/1/2016 (Akwa Ibom) is now called up. The CJN advises Counsels that they have taken time to read all the Briefs filed by the parties thoroughly and have also taken 2 hours this morning to again review the cases of the parties which is which they came out late. Counsels are advised to be brief in oral amplification as they are already conversant with the facts. Dodo is now introducing his brief filed on the 16th of January 2016 and his Rely Brief filed January 25th 2016. Dodo applies to adopt both Briefs in urging the SC to allow the Appeal |
kahal29:I have made the amendment. Thanks |
D.D. Dodo, SAN is announcing the withdrawal of his Notice of Appeal (SC/8/2016) filed on the 30th December 2015 on the issue of Locus Standi because they have since had the benefit of hearing the decision of the Supreme Court delivered on the 8th of January on a similar issue in another case which makes the said Appeal unsustainable. Other counsels in the matter do not object to withdrawal of the case. Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN commends Dodo for withdrawing the Appeal having realized it is frivolous and says "this is how it should be" in the Legal Profession. COURT: Appeal dismissed; no order as to Costs. CJN commends the Appellant's Counsel for exhibiting good practice and says this is how it should be |
Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu announces appearance for 4th & 5th Respondents |
NgeneUkwenu:Lol, you must think so very highly of yourself & your intelligence to think you know better than the Supreme Court when it comes to the law. Even a Lawyer who is not in a particular matter and doesn't know the actual FACTS OF THE CASE AS PRESENTED TO THE COURT talk in general terms and not definitive terms; but I can see you know better than everyone else |
Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN is also announcing appearance for the 1st and 2nd Respondents |
Akwa Ibom case called up; Lead Counsel for Gov. Emmanuel Udom, D. D. Dodo, SAN, is now announcing appearance for the Appellants |
Here we go: the Panel of seven Judges have just come out now with the CJN Presiding |
