Hi bigcil2, I see you shunned someone who raised a concern about the money you have as balance. A VO may be worried too. You have a business account with a lot of money but this is a business account, the VO will not want you to spend Business money on a leisure trip. Now you have 200k as savings. This is different if you had say a salary account and then transfer money out when salary is paid into a savings account or if you have a business account and pay yourself salary. If you do not separate your money carefully to make it clear to the VO, no matter how much millions you may have, a denial might be imminent on funding grounds.
In my opinion and to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge;
The budget of your trip should be in your saved money. 1500CAD is obviously too much for someone that has 200k Naira. Include flight and hotel in your entire budget for the trip and itemize what each Money is for.
If you have never applied to CIC(now IRCC) before, you do not have a UCI and shouldn’t fill any. If you have applied(approved or denied) you need to track your old application and retrieve the UCI from there. If your old application was approved, the UCI is on the bottom right corner, usually 8 digits.
On purpose, get a flight reservation to your destination in Canada but do not pay. You can use any airline website for this. Go to Booking.com or Airbnb for a hotel reservation that cancels free and make sure it’s payment on arrival. Do not pay for anything until a sticker is affixed to your passport.
As for the sites to visit, make the VO understand you know what you’re doing and the cost implications. You mentioned that apart from Niagara Falls, the others are together which is false. Niagara Falls is not even anywhere near Toronto. It’s over an hour drive away and will cost money to get to. Ottawa is a completely different city and over an hour flight from Toronto and will set you back at least 150CAD one way. For the aquarium and some sites, there may be entry fees. Have you budgeted for these?
A letter of explanation is, at least how I write mine, a detailed yet short letter (not more than 2 pages) written to a VO by an applicant to explicitly address the concerns a VO may have when considering the application. Make use of this letter. It can be very helpful and please don’t make it boring and don’t beg. State facts with documents to back it up.
Always remember that the onus is on you to convince a VO. Best of luck

Thank you for your detailed explanation. From what you’ve said does it mean I must have my budgeted amount for my trip available? Because I thought that my account statement is needed to show that I can afford my trip. Also if I have that amount as a balance in my account, am I not allowed to spend it before my visa is issued? Why’d they ask for a 4 month statement ? Sincerely I’m confused

Can I book a flight? I plan visiting Niagara Falls (Toronto) and war museum at Ottawa, casa loma , ripleys aquarium. must the hotel I book close to it, if yes how close. Overall statement for a month is more than 3m but current balance is less than 200k that's what I meant. And I own my business I believe I can travel when and how I want.

@bigcil2, while including your coy tax clearance further strengthens your application, I don't think it is compulsorily a necessity because I did not include it in mine and was approved recently. If you have it, use it. If you don't have it, then don't sweat it.

However, I must also stress that you shouldn't be looking to use funds inside your company account as your only proof of funds. While the company statement of account shows your source of income, I think they don't expect you to mix biz with pleasure, so you should have a personal account for your personal expenses. It is of my opinion that it is better to support your application with a personal statement of account with substantial amount that can cover for your trip and even leave good cushion(as they don't expect you to spend all you have on a one week trip). Except this is a business trip, I don't think your company account as only proof of financial capability can fly. Just my thoughts and from what worked for me.

Do your homework before applying please.

All I can say is Thank You for your time. You guys are trying. Doing this for free is selfless... God bless you. As it is I’ll send in my personal and business account and State clearly in my letter how my business is run also stating how much I’ve earmarked for the trip. Do I need to book a flight and hotel accommodation?

The 7m in your account is not a net profit, it's your gross profit which needs to be taxed so as to know your actual take home profit.

Your tax clearance/certificate shows that and it also show the state of your business which will indicate whether you will be able to afford the trip to Canada.

You don't spend your gross profit on leisure trip, you spend your net profit leaving you with your gross profit to keep your business running and it also serves as your tie to Nigeria.

If you present the 7m as a business man how will the VO know how much out of that 7m is your gross or net profit?

1. yes you need a tax clearance so as to separate net income from gross net income.

Its not always about having huge amount in your account, you need to support that amount with evidence of the source.


2. You need to draw the budget for the trip that will give you an idea about the amount suitable for your trip. Your budget will be in CAD. Nothing like minimum or maximum about to have in your account, it will depend on your budget for the trip and the strength of your income

First question how does the tax clearance separate gross income from net income?

I’m really surprised that I need tax clearance for visiting Canada for a few days. With that said. This tax clearance thing is it the FIRS tax clearance or the tax receipt we pay to the government- I mean those payments made through proxy’s that come to our offices. I hope I laid my question out right

Okay. What I would have told him in private was investing in real estate is good but you have to look out for features that will grow the location of your property. Also depending on your budget you could start with as little as 500k to as much as 1Bn it depends on the following
Location- how close is it to town, power supply , has the government expanded the road or is planning to , is the property facing a major road , how suitable is it the location for farming , etc
Size the bigger it is the more expensive. 1 Plot = 648sqm , 1 Acre = 6 Plots , 1 hectare = 2.5acres or 15 Plots
Documents survey Reg survey c of o gov. Consent Building approval etc.

'Sir im in a similar situation. I want to apply and i believe i have to be thorough . i run a business that has been registered since 2012 but i have never for once paid tax, do i need tax clearance?. Secondly my account accumulation for four months is 7m plus but in my business account not personal account, is this sufficient for tourist visa. Lastly what should be my Budget for the trip , should it be in Naira , USD or CAD, what should be the minimum. Thanks in anticipation
