CrimeAfrica Has Three Problems………. by Biggeststar01(op): 6:18pm On Apr 28, 2025
Africa has three problems; ethnic diversity, authoritarianism and Islam. Show me a country that has managed to successfully quell the adverse effects of these features and I’ll show you a prosperous or a promising country.

Anyone who tells you that Nigeria’s problem barely has anything to do with diversity is lying to you or simply does not understand Nigeria’s problem. If our sociocultural differences led to the clash of interests and strifes that currently plague the country, then curtailing the effects of these differences should, in theory, improve our political system which would in turn, create stability in society and government, which is what a nation needs in order to achieve sustained economic growth.

Social cohesion > Social stability > Stable political system > Stable government > Sustained growth > Economic success.

Nigeria was mean to be poor
Countries that have copious amounts of natural resources, a large population to cater for, and a vastly diverse sociocultural setting are generally, more vulnerable to sociopolitical instability and self-inflicted economic shocks. They also tend to be poorer than countries that don’t have these features in tandem or have managed to curb the negative effects they can have on the country’s socioeconomic development. This is the rule, not the exception. Nigeria’s case is in accordance to the rule, it is not an exception. If Nigeria were a peaceful and prosperous democratic nation, then that would qualify as an exception.

In Nigeria, our political and economic decisions are heavily influenced and prejudiced by irrelevant, divisive ideologies and social constructs. Several attempts at critical innovative decisions and policies in government have been thwarted by ethno-religious or regional based objections which jeopardized efforts that could have set the country on the right track.

Most Nigerians will often refuse to admit that our diversity played (and is still playing) a central role in the Nigeria we see today because this instinctively suggests separation or a regional system of government as the only possible solutions and people are afraid of what could happen to them and their people, should the oil money stop flowing the way it usually does. The people of the minority region where the oil reserves are most concentrated also have mixed feelings or even completely oppose the idea of starting over because the region is also considerably diverse, consisting of several ethnic groups and sub ethnic groups that are generally belligerent towards one another. So it seems that separation would not really solve their plight, in fact, it could even exacerbate it.

I wrote this sometime ago, but decided to post it here for some reason. What are your thoughts?

Only those who are desperate to spew hate on a faceless platform will dislike this feature. If people don’t like it when you speak, it’s could be because the only thing that comes out of you is unreasonable behavior and unnecessary hate. Ponder on that.

Judging from the comments, it looks like the Yorubas in naira land are only interested in Igbo or Obi related matters.

I just finished skimming through a slew of new threads concerning the state of insecurity and violent crimes in Nigeria and I did not see any Yoruba person there. But somehow, they are here. In fact , they’re in every thread that is in any way related to Igbos.

I hope this is their job and they’re being paid to do what they do. It’ll be even more disappointing if their continued shenanigans is just a lifestyle rather than something they’re just paid to do.
