TV/MoviesRe: Ghana Slams $1,000 Fee On Nigerian Actors by bigo55: 4:37pm On Jul 08, 2010
why do all nigerians use size and the money that u have top make argument about nigeria being if that was the case nigeria should be better than japan, netherlands and so many other countries. the point is u have to make use of what u have and ghana is presently doing that. there's no doubt that ghana is moving on up. its high time nigerian stop boasting their chest about being giant of africa. nigerians stop saying that ghana shouldn't compare to nigeria, yes u r right ghana shouldn't be compared to nigeria, if nigeria can put its house together they should be ahead of ghana. But ghanaians have shown that right now they r leading nigeria in every single categories sports, development, and movies just accept and stop trying to belittle ghana.

I don't usually comment on topics, but u  guys should realize that u r puppets controlled by these writers, because these writers realized that anything that has to do with ghana and nigeria is bound to get a lot of readers and comments, that's why they keep doing this. A few months back I read that ghanaians actors was being banned in nigeria but since then i have seen lots of nollywood movies with ghanaian artists especially john dumelo. Ghanaians and nigerians are brothers and sisters and we should know brothers and sisters rival in everything that they do. but recently this rival is turning into hatred and if we don't put a stop to this is going to bring both countries further down. it seems that we haven't learn from history in the 60s ghana was doing well and nigeria wasn't, ghana chase nigeria out , then ghana went down the drain in the 80s nigeria was doing well, ghanaians invaded nigeria, nigeria chase out ghanaian. in the 2000s both countries are bnefiting from each other but a few people want to destroy the relastionship, but citizens of both  countries need realize that we r a lot better when we work together. nigerians need start respecting and stop the arrogance that a small country can't be doing well and ghanaian should stop refering to every nigeria as 419 is just a few.

as we have to realize that it only takes a few to destroy the lives of many. we tend to like bad new more than good news vbecause bad news develops more arguments and as africans we love to about irrelevant and petty things. yes there are many nigerians in ghana just there for business and to enjoy the peaceful climate has develop and there are some there to just do evil things. there are some ghanaians who don't hear anything good about nigeria but like i said there is a few. it is up to the new generation whom I called excuse my language " the don't give a Bleep generation. yes they don't give a Bleep about where you are from. what religion, the color, the sex and etc as long as we get along and it makes them happy. In school most of my friends r nigerians and liberians. but i believe we r moving in the right direction ghanaian, nigerians and liberians r now intermarying which can only be good. so the "dont give a Bleep generation lets seak out the bad seeds and expose them. I really like what i am seeing on nairaland, the people that is condeming who ever talk shit about ghana are nigerians. united west african countries instead of united states of africa

i am ghanaian and like the poster said i hate the nigerian team. everytime nigeria play against african teams i want them to loose. there is nothing wrong with me hatin the nigerian team after they are ghanas biggest rival. the first time i found myself supporting nigeria is in the olympics when they made it to the finals, i was so shock that i was supporting nigerian team that i went to take my temperature but i wasn't sick. the same reason why i supported nigeria is the same reason why many nigerians and africans are supporting ghana because ghana is not representin ghana alone but africa jast as nigeria wasn't representin nigeria. Guys that live in the western world should this that  we are view as africans not ghanaian, nigerian and etc. having rivary between two countries is great for the sport. tell me what would rather see nigeria beat ghana in the final or nigeria beat liberia or even say cameroun, but thats where it should stop sports.
PoliticsGhana And Nigeria by bigo55(op): 7:55pm On Feb 10, 2010
how come every time there's a topic about ghana or nigeria it turns into hatred arguments and name calling. recently i read a topic about  egypt winning the african cup for the third straight time but it turns into yet another ghana and nigeria hatred arguments. Yes i get it, these two countries are rivals. yes is okay to dislike the blackstars as a nigerian and vice versa, after all  red socks fans are not suppose to like yankees fans and barcelona fans are suppose to like real madrid fans. Nigerians and ghanaians lets leave our rivalry to sports or better yet lets rival in things that will bring the best out of both countries. the rivalry between these countries is no more rivalry, it is turning into deep hatred. constantly when one visit nairaland or ghanaweb it always about nigeria is better, no ghana is better , but the point of the fact is neither country is. even a  country close to being perfect like the usa is far from being perfect. yes there are things that ghanaians excel in and there are things that nigerians also excel in. example the determination of the citizens of nigerians to better themselves since thier government won't do it and the ghanaian  government to provide for their citizens since they depend on their government for everything. yes there  are a few nigerian that are bringing nigerian name down ,so ghanains stop labelling every nigerian as arm robbers and criminal and nigerian stop telling yourself that everybody that criticize nigerians are just jealous, becauase we are humans after all and as humans the bad always outweigh the good. at the end of the day even though nigerians share border with cameroun and benin  and have similar tribes and ghana share border with togo and ivory coast  and have similar tribes. the closest country to ghana is nigeria,we have similar culture, similar food we. at the end  we are brothers and sisters. when nigerians or ghanaians does something bad  it does not affect the countries alone it affect the whole africa. example is the abdul mutallab  because the white man does not differenciate between nigerians and ghanains we are all africans. when nigeria failed ghana also  sufferand ghana failed nigerians also suffer, because when there were trouble in  ghana in the 70s where did ghanaians go, nigeria and now nigeria is experiencing trouble where are they going not benin, cameroun,or niger which is much closer but they are coming to ghana because ghana is the closest country to nigerians and vice versa. so lets stop these petty argument and lets move on making a better ghana and nigeria. God bless ghana and nigeria. God bless west africa and last but least god bless Africa.

PoliticsNigerian Militants To Undergo Training In Ghana by bigo55(op): 11:23pm On Sep 10, 2009
n a bid to fully harness their potentials into productive ventures and integrate them back into the society, repentant militants in Bayelsa State in Nigeria are to be trained in Ghana.

Already the state Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Implementation Committee, Rev. Obegha Julius Oworibo, has travelled to Ghana to secure an institution where the repentant militants would under go training in various vocations.

The training programme, Vanguard learnt, is part of the state government’s Triple ‘E’ scheme of Empowerment, Engagement and Enforcement, mooted before the presidential amnesty came into being for militants in the Niger Delta. Secretary to Bayelsa State government, Mr. Gideon Ekeuwei, disclosed this in Yenagoa against the backdrop of protest by some former militants in the state over alleged non-payment of their allowances by the authorities.

According to the state government scribe, the state coordinator of the amnesty programme, Rev Oworibo, who incidentally is a permanent secretary in his office, had to travel to Ghana to make arrangement for the training of the repentant militants.

He expressed optimism that in no distant time, the state would once again assumed its toga of oasis of peace in the Niger Delta.

Secretary to the state government described the perceived disagreement between the ex-militants and their respective leaders as purely internal matters. He said the protest was not unusual, adding that the development was expected, especially when it had to do with the issue of disarmament.

He noted that other countries of the world in similar situation were experiencing the same problem.

“What they (militants) may have expected may not come out as expected. This is not to say that government has failed,” he said.

Prior to the amnesty offer and the recent arms haul recorded in the predominantly riverine state, Bayelsa is renowned as the hotbed of militancy and kidnapping in the Niger Delta.

It also had the highest number of armed militant camps in the troubled region.

Foreign AffairsWhy The Sudden Ghana Bashing From Nigeria? Please Stop Is Embarrasing . by bigo55(op): 6:37pm On Sep 09, 2009
Below is a letter from the Ghana High Commission in Nigeria to a Nigerian newspaper, appealing to Nigerian government officials to refrain from spreading falsehood about Ghana.

SIR: I am compelled to write to express serious concern about a couple of statements by some top Nigerian officials about Ghana in recent weeks. Last month, Defence Minister Godwin Abbe was quoted as saying, "the volume of water generated in Ghana is not enough to flush toilets in Lagos State, the number of teachers you have to pay salaries in the whole of Ghana is not more than Western Nigeria so that is that. And the whole of Ghanaian Armed Forces, if you choose to know, is not more than just two brigades of the Nigerian Armed Forces, period."

Only last weekend, Education Minister Sam Egwu was on national radio talking about the ongoing ASUU strike, and he made the most ridiculous assertion that all the university lecturers in Ghana will not be adequate for a single university in Nigeria! This is a blatant falsehood. Anyone who had been to the University of Ghana Legon (with a student population of more than 40,000), can testify to the fact that probably no university in Nigeria has more space and facilities than Legon. And there are at least five more public universities in Ghana. There are also a dozen privately-owned universities in Ghana, offering quality education to Ghanaians and foreigners alike, including a growing number of Nigerians.

And in the case of the defence minister, we do not know where he got his information from regarding the current strength of the Ghana armed forces. Needless to say that the Ghanaian military is one of the best trained on the continent and had performed exceptionally well in various international assignments. The entire first generation of Nigerian military officers, including Generals Olusegun Obasanjo, Hassan Katsina and Adebayo were all trained in Ghana. Ghanaian army generals have commanded UN troops in Lebanon, Liberia, Rwanda, Darfur, etc over the years.

Information Minister Dora Akunyili also told a local television network at the end of August that the whole of Ghana is not even up to the size of Lagos! Even a child in kindergarten knows that to be untrue. Government officials, unlike private citizens, traditionally tend to be circumspect about what they say about other countries. Ghana is smaller than Nigeria, and I reckon everyone knows that as a fact. And it is certainly not the only country in the world that is smaller than Nigeria. Or is it? Or have Nigerian government officials only suddenly realised how 'small' Ghana is?

Our concern really is that such reckless and unguarded comments could have grave implications for bilateral relations and derail efforts by leaders of the two countries to forge strong bilateral ties. We think President Umaru Yar'Adua should call his ministers to order. The Ghana bashing must stop! Ghana is a well-respected member of the international community, and deserves respect from Nigerians, particularly top government officials.

Foreign AffairsAmerica Military Base In Ghana. Is This Good For Ghana And West Africa Countries by bigo55(op): 2:27pm On Jun 11, 2009
America wants to set up a military base in Ghana. Is Ghana entering into a dangerous territory or would this benefit Ghana, Nigeria and all Africa. Personally i think it would be good for Africa in the sense that we could benefit in terms of the roads and hospital, schools and the Us companies that would outsource to Africa. Others believe that America military base in Ghana is bad for Ghana, Nigeria and Africa. They believe that this another form of imperialism, and soon we will be fighting for another freedom. Tell me your opinion of this matter. is Ghana and Africa making a mistake?
