At an age when many of her peers are only
worried about teddy bears and ice cream, little
Emeka Favour Omolara is already charting a
meaningful course for her life and exploring
her God-given gifts.
The talented saxophone player is just 11 years
old and in JSS2, but she has her eyes set on
achieving bigger things. In this chat with
Potpourri, she speaks on her career,
motivation, and how she combines her school
work with music. Excerpts…
Tell us a bit about yourself…
I hail from Amoji in Abia State. I’m the second
child out of three wonderful children. The
names of my parents are Mr. and Mrs. Emeka
and Remi Nduagu.
What is your motivation for doing music?
I got motivation from my late grandfather,
late Mr. T.A. Olawore, who was an
instrumentalist. After his death, my uncle (Mr.
Akintunde Olawore) took over from him and
also my brother, Emeka Victor. Each time they
play the keyboard, I get inspired so I decided
to do something unique by playing the
saxophone.
Tell us about some of the songs you’ve
released, artistes and producers you’ve worked
with?
I have done ministration in churches and on
special occasions. I just released my first
album titled “Oba (King)” and VC Perez
produced the song. Akin Alabi directed the
video while Emeka Victor Boluwatife was the
executive producer.
What’s the biggest challenge facing your
career?
It has to be combining my education with my
rehearsals.
How do you get your inspiration?
I get inspiration from God, and from Church
when the pastor is ministering.
What do you sing about?
I do strictly Gospel, Praise and Worship, to be
precise.
Which artistes will you like to work with in
future?
Frank Edward, Flo, Tope Alabi and Lara
George.
Where do you see yourself in the next five
years?
By the special grace of God, I see myself
going to places, and ministering all over the
world.
What next should we be expecting from you?
By God’s grace, expect a heart-touching album
from me.

I think BH/ISIS should be denied any entertainment as they thrive on media/social media attention. We should start a #ignoreterrorists something and see if this theory works. This is what all media personnel/columnists have been saying all along. Its a pitty because they get more gruesome each day and we do need to know what is happening in the world....I guess it's a very complex issue.

There are strong indications that the Islamic
sect Boko Haram has forged a strong
operational alliance with the ruthless Islamic
State as the two bodies have released a joint
video for the first time on Saturday.
This is the first video recording since Boko
Haram pledged allegiance to the Islamic
State last year.
The video showed the picture of a suspected
Nigerian soldier in a kneeling position
surrounded by three terrorists with AK47
assault rifles. Later in the video, the body of
the soldier was shown without the head.
The location of the action was not specified
in the latest video.
Also, the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar
Shekau, did not speak in the video.
Mail Online reported that the audio message,
which was entitled ‘kill and be killed,’ was
read by an unidentified spokesman for ISIS.
The audio message released through the
militants’ vast social media channels was
read by an ISIS spokesperson who also
threatened further violence against Christian
and Jewish communities.
The video carried a West African insignia of
the ISIS which indicated that the group has
set up media wing in Nigeria.
The horrific pictures displayed in the video
bore a striking similarity with the horrendous
acts and scenes in ISIS videos.
The video also showed the insurgents in a
battle against security forces who were not
visible and did not return the fire of the
enemy.
Our correspondent could not get the Director,
Defence Information, Maj-Gen. Chris
Olukolade to comment on the video.
However, Olukolade, who is believed to be
outside the country, responded to a text
message on the issue and referred our
correspondent to the Acting Director, Army
Public Relations, Col. SK Usman.
SUNDAY PUNCH could not raech Usman to get
his view on the video as calls to his mobile
telephone line did not connect.
Also, Usman had not responded to a text
message on the issue as of the time of filing
this report on Saturday night.
However, a security operative in the mission
said there had been no recent incident of
Boko Haram attack and sacking of military
formations in the North-East.
