The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Osita Okechukwu, has told the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to humbly resign instead of ‘running’ abroad.

The former Governor of Edo State is currently locking horns with some leaders and Governors of the party who believe he was involved in some shoddy deals during the party primaries.

The VON DG said this at a media briefing at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, where he also stated that he had earlier advised Oshiomhole to resign honourably but he refused.

The VON DG said, “Penultimate week, I joined the league of APC moral leaders, faithful and men of good conscience to call on Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, to honourably resign forthwith as the chairmanship of our great party.

“In his usual narcissistic disposition, he refused.

“As the ‘Oshiohmole Must Go’ wave raged, the Department of State Services got wind of it.


“They interrogated him and I patiently waited to read from Comrade Oshiomhole and his spin doctors over his tango with the DSS, in the social or mainstream media, neither rebuttal nor denial came from them.

“I, therefore, once again stridently call on Comrade Oshiomhole to instead of pontification, grandstanding and running away from the country, do the needful by honourably resigning the chairmanship of our great party.”

The problem with southwest is that they are the least educated tribe in Nigeria. Igbo's are generally the most educated then others follow. The Buhari Media Organisation says U.S. lobbyist were paid millions of dollars to secure an American visa for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.


The Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, said this in a statement jointly signed in Abuja on Tuesday, describing the effort as another chapter in PDP’s “book of corruption”.

The organisation said that the PDP had itself claimed it would be paying Brian Ballard, who is believed to be close to U.S. President Donald Trump, the equivalent of N400 million over a one year period to ostensibly lobby Washington on behalf of its candidate ahead of the 2019 Presidential election.

The group added that even if Trump’s friend convinced the U.S. authorities to clear the path for Atiku to finally enter the U.S., it would not clear the allegation of corruption scandals that over the years stuck to it.

According to the group, Nigerians were not prepared to easily forget how the PDP Presidential candidate’s name featured in high-profile sleaze probe, ranging from that of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) to Siemens during his 8-year tenure as Vice President.

“Not even a close ally of Trump can wipe clean a slate of corruption that took years of intense begging for his former principal to reluctantly accept his apology but which he still wants him to seek the forgiveness of Nigerians”.


The group, however, stated that it was not surprised that a party with credibility problem should think the solution to its problem was in throwing money around.

“These are people that have been conditioned to see dollar rain as solutions to local credibility problems.

“Coming soon after they had shared wads of dollars among party delegates; they did not feel bad spending more to boost the economy of Dubai where they have been holding strategy sessions.

“The same people have signed a deal of 90,000 dollars a month to secure an American visa for a morally challenged presidential candidate.

“They are busy boosting businesses in other countries, yet they are running a presidential campaign with the theme of ‘making Nigeria great again. How ironic!” BMO added.

“We want Nigerians to see the difference between President Muhammadu Buhari whose party does not need to spend money in any currency to whitewash his image and that of a candidate that needs to pay the equivalent of N400 million to clean its image in just one country.”

A lawyer has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to hold Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Femi Fani-Kayode and others to account for the disappearance of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The lawyer, Isaiah Agidi Ayugu, wants the court to order the investigation and prosecution of the individuals over the escape of Kanu from Nigeria.

The lawyer also accused other individuals like Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, and his siblings Emmanuel Kanu, Uchechi Kanu, and sureties, Tochukwu Uchendu, Emmanuel Shallow Ben.

He said the individuals alleged that Kanu was killed by soldiers on September 14, 2017, but Kanu appeared in Israel from where he surfaced to make a broadcast.

The suit filed by his lawyer, Oghenovo Otemu, claimed that the outlawed IPOB was stockpiling arm to truncate the 2019 general election.

No date has been fixed for hearing.

Supporters of an imprisoned Shiite cleric on Wednesday said they had begun burying dozens of people they say were killed in clashes with the Nigerian security forces.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) said 49 of its members lost their lives since Saturday, contrasting the military's official death toll of six.

The army and police fired live bullets at crowds who marched near and in the capital, Abuja, protesting for the release of IMN leader Ibrahim Zakzaky, who has been in custody since 2015.

In Mararaba village, in Nasarawa state just over the border from the Federal Capital Territory, mourners gathered in preparation for the burial of 20 victims.

AFP reporters counted the white-shrouded bodies, as IMN members and tearful family members of the deceased gathered to pay their final respects.

"These are the victims the Nigerian Army attacked on Monday at Kugbo security check point on our way to Abuja," said IMN member Abdullahi Mohammad Musa.

The group's spokesperson, Ibrahim Musa, said separately that another burial for six people was held in the northern city of Zaria.

"We are feeling bad, we are feeling wronged, we are oppressed," he added.
