EducationHardly Do First Class Graduates Become First Class Personality by bilms(op): 12:12pm On Jun 22, 2015
Hardly do first class graduates become first class personality
Abdulrazaq O Hamzat

While in University, we often spend too much energy in acquiring good grades that we forget to acquire good class personality.

After concentrating all energy in acquiring the first class grades, we transform into a society where first class grades don't matter much as having a first class personality.

In school, its easy to read, memorize and pass exams, but in real life, there is no sure book of life to progress, no memorizing, no exams, just you and your inbuilt capability which require no contest with anybody.
Those who eventually become big in life are mostly people who hardly make good grades in school.

Anifowoshe Titilope had reported that, Prof. Abletor Sedofia from University of Ghana has this to say to us:
"Academic excellence is overrated! Did I just say that? Oh, yes, I said it. Being top of your class does not necessarily guarantee that you will be at the top of life. You could graduate as the best student in Finance but it doesn't mean you will make more money than everybody else. The best graduating Law student does not necessarily become the best lawyer. The fact is life requires more than the ability to understand a concept, memorise it and reproduce it in an exam. School rewards people for their memory. Life rewards people for their imagination. School rewards caution, life rewards daring. School hails those who live by the rules. Life exalts those who break the rules and set new ones. So do I mean people shouldn't study hard in school? Oh, no, you should. But don't sacrifice every other thing on the altar of First Class. Don't limit yourself to the classroom. Do something practical. Take a leadership position. Start a business and fail. That's a better Entrepreneurship 101.Join or start an association. Contest an election and lose. It will teach something Political Science 101 will not teach you. Attend a seminar. Read books outside the scope of your course. Go on missions and win a soul for eternal rewards... Do something you believe in! Think less of becoming an excellent student but think more of becoming an excellent person. Make the world your classroom !

PoliticsPolitics Divides The World Into Friends And Enemies by bilms(op): 12:05pm On Jun 22, 2015
POLITICS DIVIDES THE WORLD INTO FRIENDS AND ENEMIES
Abdulrazaq O Hamzat
Politics divides the world is into friend and enemy. (Francis,1962)
Those politics made friends, it may soon make them enemies. Those it made enemies, it may soon make them friends. This is why it is often said that, no permanent friends or enemy in Politics. Its all about permanent interest.
Hey, don’t be carried away with the theory, lets talk in practicals. When politics turn people enemies, what do they do to each other? They try to injure or neutralize each other in all manners. Since one of the two is often saddled with governance, who suffers from their enmity and attempt of injury? The people.
This is why they say,Politics is a dirty game, but we must ask, is that true?
For a moment, let us ask ourselves sincerely, is politics indeed a dirty game?
I have pondered on this question times without number, and any time I think over it, I often get the same answer.
In my view, politics is not a dirty game, though it is a game.
Politics can be dirty if played dirty by dirty people, but I also believe that, politics can be good if played good by good people. What we must do is that, never allow the dirty people dominate the game, at all times, we must support the good people.
Since politics can be a dirty or a good game depending on the players, we must ask ourselves, In my little way ‘’Am I playing politics good or playing it dirty? This is a personal question everyone must answer to themselves sincerely.
A dirty politics is the politics of hatred, politics of religion and region. Yes, dirty politics is a politics of ethnicity, in-objectivity, sentiments and hypocrisy.
Ask yourself, am I hating others in the name of playing politics? Is my reasoning, choices and decisions being guided by region and religion? Am I being objective, fair and sincere?
Let us ask ourselves once again, can dirty politics ever help our country get better? Can dirty politics even help us as individuals? Can it make life better for the people? The answer to the above questions is a resounding no. And If that is the case, we must put behind our grudges and be better people.
Although, dirty politics may help some aspirants gather crowd through ethnicity, religion etc, in generality, dirty politics keeps the country under-developed. Dirty politics often leads to disharmony, distrust, backwardness and crisis. We must re-direct our energy into productive engagement.
Why am I talking about this now?
Yesterday, while reflecting on our evolution on the social media as public commentators, analysts, activists, writers etc, I reflected on the role of politics in our social interaction and the damages it has done to our psyque. The dirty politics played and promoted by our leaders across party divide has greatly cause major fracture among we the youths, yet we are the victims, while they are the beneficiaries. The youths are the tool of disunity, crisis and division, we are also the victim of our actions and in-actions.
The social media community are often caught in the middle, depending on our believe, ideology and political orientation. Before you know it, friends turn foe, as we have to defend and promote one side or the other.
People who are formally friends on social media had suddenly turn foes, those who often share good ideas suddenly became hostile to each other. The atmosphere of civil growth and intellectualism suddenly turn a dirty space, where people hardly make meaningful contribution. Distrust and suspicion is now the order of the day.
It occurred to me that, unknown to us, politics has greatly divided us into friends and enemies, but as we try to consolidate on our friendship, it set us apart again and turn us to enemies again. We are often being set against each other by actions of others, shouldn’t we out grow such immaturity?
We must all realize that, Politics has taken over our joy, harmony and civil engagements, he gave us sadness, division and in-civil sentiments. It has destroyed our business opportunities and replaced it with poverty of both mind and resources.
I recall that sometimes in 2011/2012, we all used to work together. There are a lot of guys that we often share great ideas and pursue common agenda for growth and development. Many patriotic movement came up and everyone were united to pursue a common mission. A lot of projects were jointly embarked upon for the common good, one of which was the 2012 fuel subsidy protest known as Occupy Nigeria. We started it here on the social media. I recall that about 5 of us started it here in Abuja.
But today, no meaningful engagement is taking place online. We are divided over almost every issue. No matter how fair and objective once try to be, some others will often see it from the other perspective. Where is all that passion for Nigeria? Where is the selfless engagement we do embark upon? Where is the Unity of purpose? Where is the personal development and the business ideas we often try to work on together? We must rediscover ourselves.
A lot of people that we used to share sound ideas together toward both personal and societal development are now busy with political pursuit in their respective parties or caucus.
We must ask, how far can we go individually? How far can we go with hatred and division?
The youthful energy must be brought back, let the sound ideas of progress and development be re-introduced. We must restore the Unity and abandon our individual selfishness for the purpose of our collective strength and development.

WE MUST NOW SET POLITICS ASIDE AND FOCUS ON OUR OWN GROWTH DEVELOPMENT AS PEOPLE

Politics7 Achievements Of Buhari In 2 Weeks by bilms(op): 3:42pm On Jun 12, 2015
PMB's Govt Is 2 Week's Old Today.
Like children who get distracted by every toy, so also many of us are getting distracted by every headline or news story.
Sarakigate. WatchGate. TinubuGate. WestGermanyGate. Gates stacked upon gates. But while people jump up and down shouting themselves hoarse over petty irrelevancies, President Buhari has been getting on with the serious business of governing.
Let's see some of what this Govt has been up to over the last 2 weeks:
1) PMB and Osinbajo have submitted their asset declaration to the CCB, and once the CCB have verified this, PMB and Osinbajo have stated they will make it public.
2) Dealing with the Boko Haram monster. Within the first few days of taking office, PMB had flown to meet the presidents of Chad and Niger to discuss the Boko Haram menace.
Yesterday, President Buhari held and chaired a a summit in Abuja with the Heads and Governments of Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin Republic, where it was agreed that that Nigeria will lead the Multinational force in the war against Boko Haram until the end of the mission. A formal multinational force has been set up with all 5 countries agreeing to the leadership, budget and location.
He has also met the G7 to ensure the cooperation of the West in dealing with this monster. If we look at the craziness that is ISIS, we should understand why crushing Boko Haram has to be a priority for Nigeria and her neighbours.
3) Making Nigeria proud again. The Inauguration showcased to the world that Nigeria's democracy is maturing.
At the G7 meeting, Nigeria was accorded respect and treated as a serious partner in the global fight against terrorism.
4) Tackling the fuel crisis. The marketers have agreed to end the oil crisis and also import fuel without the govt having to pay hefty subsidies. Reports have come out that PMB has arm-twisted the importers to provide fuel to cover subsidy monies they have received but cannot account for.
Seems like the goats are vomitating the yams.
5) The relocation of the Command and Control Centre to Maiduguri was announced by PMB immediately he took office, and it was done within 2 days. Getting the Service Chiefs right into the heart of the insurgency shows Nigeria is taking Boko Haram seriously, and it tells the troops that their C-in-C is committed to winning this war. Every army needs its morale boosted by seeing their superiors are also invested in winning.
6) Commitment to reducing the cost of governance. PMB took a streamlined delegation of 20 to the G7. This is a huge reduction compared to the delegation of the 170+ the previous Administration went to the G7 summit with.
He has submitted a list of 15 special advisers instead of 24 under the previous Administration.
6) It is reported the EFCC have opened an investigation into the oil subsidy 'scam', the NNPC and the Cabal that have been looting Nigeria blind.
7) PMB is showing Nigerians what it means to be a democrat by not interfering in the affairs of NASS. Our democracy needs to understand there has to be a separation of powers between the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary. While many long for a dictatorial heavy-handed leader, this will not benefit Nigeria's democracy in the long run.
When some sneeringly point to all the so-called gates of fluff that are nothing but distractions, and sneeringly say - Is this the Change you voted for, I point to the above real actions of government, and say - Yes, this IS the Change I campaigned for. A leader focused on Nigeria and resolving her problems.
So y'all please excuse me if i dont get involved in the pettiness of all the 'gates' that lead nowhere. My focus is on Nigeria; Security, Boko Haram, the economy, and corruption. Those are the milestones I am tracking ~ Bucky 2015

If the process that produced Saraki as senate president was indeed constitutional, PDP must be very stupid to allow APC with 7 senators elect senate president when they can simple elect a PDP senators as senate president with their number (49).

Let us look at it from this angle, if PDP had produced the senate president through this process, would that senate president be accepted by the president considering his stance of none interference?

SARAKI’S OVER AMBITION IS LEGENDARY
As Senate presidency posters flood Ilorin.
Have you ever seen the poster of an aspiring senate president pasted across the street for campaign? I saw it in Ilorin.
Bukola Saraki is such a funny guy. I can’t believe this guy printed massive posters and pasted it across the street of ilorin seeking votes from the masses for his senate presidency ambition.
I saw the posters every where while in the car and I was suprise. The question is, what purpose would such poster serve? The senate presidency position is to be decided by the senate elect, how come Saraki is campaigning in the street of Ilorin with posters? That’s very funny you know. It goes to tell you how far this dude can go in pursuit of the senate president position.
Information has it that, Saraki doll out cash to APC senators while seeking their support, but as that failed to yield any result, his attention has now been shifted to PDP senators. He his ready to spend and spend more to achieve his ambition.
This is in addition to urging the Emir of Ilorin to help him reachout to Tinubu for support, but despite all effort by the royal father, there seems to be no way out.
Tinubu allegedly told the emir that, 3 parties formed APC. CPC, ACN and ANPP. CPC became the president, ACN became the Vice and ANPP is to become the senate president. This was the agreement signed Tinubu reportedly said.
But the guy didn’t stop there, reliable information has it that, he also distributed money to Imams across ilorin for special prayers. Again, I also heard that, he distributed rice olokuta to some areas in ilorin, urging them to pray for him to become the senate president.

I wish Bukola Saraki well in his ambition. Mr.right

You are praying for Buhari to fail, please pray harder, God is listening. You are working against the interest of the nation, please work harder, the lord is your strength. You started criticizing the then President elect even before he was sworn-in as president, keep it up. You are doing a great Job. If the President wear baba riga, criticize it. If he declare his asset, condemn it, if his wife wears a watch, scandalize it, any action he takes, abuse him and call him names. That doesn’t change the fact that, he his still your president.
But guess what?
Buhari is not clueless, Buhari will not fail.
Those working against his government are less than those working for it. Those praying for its success far out-numbered those praying for its down fall. The work and prayers of the Nigerians masses shall not be in vain. They prayed and worked to remove GEJ, God answered. They prayed and worked to elect PMB, God answered. Now, they are working and praying for the success of this government, God is still listening.
But note: If your prayer is answered and Buhari fail, Buhari will not suffer, it is you and the masses of Nigeria that will suffer. Don’t forget, they said his wife uses a wrist watch worth N10million. I am sure many of you are still praying to have that N10million to start a business.
Let me conclude that, Buhari’s success is to make your life better, his failure makes your life harder. PRAY HARD, WORK HARD, ITS FOR YOUR OWN SUCCESS OR FAILURE.

WORKERS ARE DYING IN OSUN
But govt don't care, Politicians are living large, but labor Union kept silent, If nobody would act, Osun may turn to jungle.

Osun State is right now on auto-reverse. This is no longer a PDP or APC affairs. Hunger is now trademark of the common people. The only class exempted is Aregbesola and his cabals. Prayers alone without corresponding saving actions portray idiocy. The People must begin to let loose the chains of bondage tied around our necks. Does Aregbesola or Titi Tomori or those living large and profiting on the present deprivation of the common Man have different blood running through their veins? They pray to God, worship in his temple like the rest of the People hustling on the streets without opportunity to succeed. How questionable to refuse to pay legitimate salary of Workers for 7 months? Governor Rauf Aregbesola claims Osun allocation has dropped to Five Hundred Million Naira and he is often quick to reel out how many Billions the wages cost? That is half truth but the rest half truth left unsaid by Aregbesola is that Osun is left with paltry Five Hundred Million after he must have evacuated his own Five Hundred Million Naira security vote. Where is the fear of God? Where is equity? How can Aregbesola be bribing the Permanent Secretaries monthly to the tune of #50,000 each and taking #500,000,0000 himself per month while they leave hardworking Workers' to suffer on the roads and streets?
Enough is Enough! People must begin to add their voices and join us to seek accountability and transparency in Government House. When next you see a Deputy Governor at that church service, church audience must now begin to seek explanation. The next time you see a Governor in that mosque, the Congregation must henceforth show bravery and seek freedom.
If the Labour Leaders will not fight for your rights, Don't die in silence again. If Aregbesola can dedicate only 100 million out of his bogus monthly security vote to provide food aids to the Commoners, Perhaps Children of the poor will manage to live normal lives too.

ROLE OF POLITICIANS IN BREEDING CRIMINALS IN THE SOCIETY
Since the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999, desperate politicians have cultivated habit of breeding political thugs to advance their political interest, they engage in all sort of criminality in the name of politics. But beyond the current dispensation, such practices had been in existence since the independence of Nigeria in 1960.

Talking about criminals in this context, this cannot be dissociated from the criminal activities of some political thugs, who some times involve in political assasination, kidnapping, stealing of ballot boxes and other forms of political thugery during elections.

But beyond elections, many of these political thugs/criminals continue to utilize weapons given to them by politicians during electioneering for other criminal engagements such as armed robbery on one hand, some go ahead to occupy political positions in both executive and legislative arms of government on the other hands, thereby promoting criminality through government machinaries.

Crime simply defined is an offence which goes beyond the personal and into the public sphere, breaking prohibitory rules or laws, to which legitimate punishment or sanctions are attached, and requires the intervention of a public authority i.e. the State or a local body (Marshall, 1998).
The activities of these criminals which has been viewed as part and parcel of politics in Nigeria need to be put in proper perspective.
Political violence has become a central part of political competition across much of Nigeria and it takes many forms—from assassinations to armed clashes between gangs employed by rival politicians. This violence is most often carried out by gangs whose members are openly recruited and paid by politicians and party leaders to attack their sponsors’ rivals, intimidate members of the public, rig elections, and protect their patrons from similar attacks.
A former cult member recruited by the PDP in Rivers State to prevent people from voting during the 2003 elections stated that,“My duty was to send you to hell.” (HRW,2007)
Alongside the gangs themselves, the individuals most responsible for the abuses they commit are politicians and party officials—from all parties—who sponsor and at times openly participate in acts of violence. The architects, sponsors, and perpetrators of this violence generally enjoy complete impunity because of both the powers of intimidation they wield and the tacit acceptance of their conduct by police and government officials. (HRW,2007)
A spokesman for Anambra State Governor Peter Obi told Human Rights Watch, “If you are a member of the PDP and I belong to APGA [the All Progressives Grand Alliance opposition party] we see ourselves more or less like enemies. This is carried too far and results in thuggery, assassination and arson.” (HRW,2007)
However, Matthieu (2008) had observed that, If politicians control law and order officials, then criminal politicians could misuse this power to prevent the prosecution of crimes committed by people like themselves.

5 Achievements Of PMB Within 6 Days In Office

THAT'S THE BUHARI WE ELECTED !!!!

It is barely six days since coming to office, but the President already scored five major points
that translate to dividends of democracy. That is an average of a point a day:

1. "I belong to nobody" - No godfather or ethnic group, including his, that can dictate or
influence him.

2. Marching order to Generals to move out of their Abuja air-conditioned offices and relocate
to Battlefield.

3. Undertaking trilateral meeting with Niger and Chad leaders on how to stamp out Boko Haram
once and for all.

4. Refused to interfere with National Assembly leadership selections.

5. He cut down recurrent expenditure by reducing the number of Special Advisers from 136 that
Jonathan had, to just 15 for him.

I pray for God to protect and continue to guide PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI. Amen!

RELIGION: A SOURCE OF CONTROL OR SOURCE TO THE CREATOR?
By: Abdulrazaq O Hamzat

Religion is suppose to be a source of guidance to the path of truth and spirituality, a path which if followed correctly, should lead man to his creator, therefore strengthening his desire to uphold God’s command on humanity, especially, the sacredness of human life and living a decent life devoid of excessive desire and possession of worldly materials.

However, the excessive desire and possession of worldly materials by adherent of the gospel and the care free attitude of the islamic practitioners on the sacredness of human life has put a very big question mark on the purpose and use of religion.

In view of the negative use of religion by power mongers and those seeking worldly possession, many have been asking, is religion a source of control or a source to the creator?

Let me hear your view while you watch out for the full publication.
