WHY SHOULD NIGERIANS NOT VOTE FOR CHANGE? "- Over 200 young Chibok girls were abducted over 260 days ago without any trace - Our communities were captured by terrorists/insurgents - our people flee their villages and many are now in Internally Displaced Persons camps without a taste of anything home - Many parents, children, men and women are killed because the government that was meant to provide protection, failed to do so - Many of our young and promising soldiers and combat police officers and men that were fathers to some, brothers to some and children to others were killed and many missing - Recent reports have it that about 18 female soldiers were captured and missing in Baga - Military barracks and camps were captured and captured easily by the insurgents and are still under their control - Some other soldiers facing mutiny charges and convicted death sentences - Alleged corruption and diversion of Military funds meant to procure fighting equipment, motivate combat soldiers to fight insurgence with no military chief and officers being punished while the foot soldiers that complain are facing 'mutiny charges' - Many worship places were either burnt down and others destroyed - Nigerian nation is more divided along regional, ethnic and religious lines .... More disunited - Perceived growing corruption without the prosecution of alleged corrupt officials but rather celebrated - Accused and alleged criminal elements are courting the corridors of power at the centre rather than facing court charges - Collapse of the a Nigerian economy with our excess crude account presently at a mere $3.1bn, foreign reserves @ $32.4bn, over 20% of our proposed 2015 national budget to service domestic/foreign debts. Yet Crude Oil price at the international market is declining at an alarming speed .... about $50 per barrel down from about $118 per barrel six months ago (precisely July 2014) - Political injustice by imposition of candidates while depriving others their exercise of rights to contest - Growing unemployment with attendant consequences in kidnapping, armed robbery and other social vices - The list can go endlessly yet, there is no any hope of better things to come No hope for the chibok girls to be returned No hope for Naira to be strong again No hope for a more unified country this this administration No hope for job opportunities No hope for end of insecurity So, Why should Nigerians not vote for Change? Should we continue with Insecurity forever? Should we continue with falling naira forever? Should we continue with unemployment forever? Should we continue with massive govt corruption forever? Should we continue with a divided nation? So i ask, why shouldn't Nigerians vote for Change? |

Fash, that is an endless question that would never get answer...But to those in conspiracy theory, they will tell you its true and continue to rely on such false notion to castigate others |
ON MY BIRTHDAY Today is my birthday and I thank the almighty for keeping me alive. While it is true that today should be a happy day for me, but at the same time, It should also be my saddest day. It should be a day that remind every individual of their death. So for me, It is a sad day because, today is a day in which my years on earth has been reduced by one. To me, a birthday is not necessarily a celebration day, it is a day to reflect on our activities over the years. On a day like this, you should sincerely judge yourself without waiting for the judgement of God. You should reflect on areas you have improved as a person and try to improve even more and a the same time, you should assess the areas you have been less effective and try to be effective. You should rebuke yourself for some negative things you have done over the years and promise not to repeat them again. If they are things you can correct, try as much as possible quickly correct them. A birthday is a day you should ask yourself, have I been more patriotic to my nation than I was last year? Have I been more helpful to those who need my assistance in whatever way, have I been more listening to those who need my attention, have been more inspiring to those who rely on me for inspiration, have I been more compassionate to humanity than ever before, have I been more concerned about the welfare of those far and near, have I been a better son to my parents, have I been a better husband/wife to my spouse, have I been a better father to my children, have I been a better friends to my friends, have been a better pastor/cleric to my followers, have I been a better leader to my fans and most importantly, have I been a more Godly person than before and have i been a better servant to the most high God who created me?. These and many more should occupy our thoughts on a special day like this. We should answer those questions sincerely to our self and try to correct the negative areas. We should improve our person and improve on our character. We should lead the way in making the world a better place. On this note, let me specially thank all those that had contributed to my life in one way or the other. I thank all my friends around the world, fans and well wishers. I thank my family and those who had shown me care in what ever capacity. Let it be noted that,I shall never deviate from the path of truth and human rights which I have always pursue, I shall never seize to be patriotic to my dear nation, and most importantly, I shall remain committed to making this life better place for all to live in peace and unity. DON’T BE MISTAKEN, 2015 IS A YEAR OF GREATER ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR ALL NIGERIANS AND AFRICANS. WE SHALL ENSURE TO MOVE AFRICA MOVE CLOSER TO ACHIEVING THE AFRICAN DREAM. Abdulrazaq O Hamzat Mr.Rights |

Agenda For Peace With Mr.Rights: Bitter Truth About Islamization Agenda Written by Abdulrazaq O Hamzat (Mr Rights) The purpose of this writing is not to promote any religious divide, but rather, to educate the public and set the record straight against empty and unnecessary politicization of Christianity and Islamic religion. This is necessary because, If one take a closer look at the dirty role our selfish, but corrupt politicians and clerics are playing with these two religions one would be left with no doubt about the danger awaiting to befall this great nation as a result of religious hatred and distrust that had been well enshrined in the heart of our people. Such divisive antics had gotten to a stage that, if two brothers believe in the two faiths, i.e one chose Islam, while the other chose Christianity, both may be relating with each other with distrust and suspicion. For example, If Boko Haram terrorist group strikes in Borno, killing innocent people, the Christian brother could turn to challenge his Muslim blood brother to take responsibility for the act, accusing him for Islamization agenda. This had taken away the love in many families, towns and the society at large. But the question is; Is there anything like the Islamization agenda? Who has the agenda? When was the agenda set? Who set it? What is the goal of that agenda and how realistic Is it? I mean, do you actually believe such an agenda do exist? If yes, I would really love to see your evidence or reason to believing in such an empty noise and society destroying propaganda. I call it an empty noise because, it seems to be always be a conspiracy theory or in the imagination of those making the allegation and in reality, nothing of such is ever seen. In today's Nigeria, hardly can any political discuss not lead to issue of Islamization agenda. Many young Nigerians of the Christian faith hardly discuss politics without bringing up the issue of Islamization, that seems to be the only logical point of argument for them. In the middle of political debate, when there seems to be no other logical position they could argue with, they resort to the conspiracy theory of Islamization agenda. It doesn’t matter how educated they claim to be, neither does their level of exposure matter. Many a times, I find myself in midst of christian friends who at any given time we engage in political debate, they re-echo the message of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and some Christian politicians about a supposed islamic agenda of Muslims to Islamize Nigeria. Often times, I try to find connection on how exactly the Muslims had planned to islamize Nigeria and I couldn’t find any, but these christian friends always insist that this so called agenda do exist without providing any corresponding evidence. They mostly rely on the message of CAN and the christian politicians who often make this baseless claims to steer up sentiments in favor of their pockets and political aspiration even though it is illogical. No matter how much I try to make us have a decent conversation to locate the truth, these friends often end the dialogue by insisting that such exist even though there is no any evidence. They hold the perception and we all know, perception mattered. Despite not having any evidence to prove such, they hold that it exist and such attitude, especially from supposed learned people make me feel as if this country has been cursed with religious sentiments. However, I know the country is not cursed, certainly not by God, but indeed, it has been cursed with bad leaders who can go any length to secure power. Yes, Nigeria has been cursed with immoral religious leaders who can divide the people with baseless claims to secure wealth and political patronage, yes, we have been cursed with deceitful political leaders who don’t mind wiping out entire region to retain power and most especially, we have been cursed by ignorant educationists who acquire all academic certificates without any iota of quality reasoning and productive knowledge. In many public discuss now, rather than concentrate on discussing how to have good governance, create jobs etc, we are forced to be discussing a supposed islamization agenda, which I have tried to check the possibility of its existence but failed to find any. These unnecessary divisive publicity was championed by the Chrisitain Association of Nigeria (CAN), where the association continue to claim that Christians are being marginalized, giving an impression that Muslims had been dominating the country through a grand agenda which they always refer to as Islamization agenda. But what I have been wondering about is that, how can a country, where Christians had ruled more than Muslims accuse Muslims of trying to Islamize the nation? The evidence on ground shows that, if any faith should be accused of having any agenda whatsoever, that should be the christian faith because,In the about 55 years of Nigeria’s existence as an independent nation, Christians had rule for 31 years, while Muslims had only ruled for just 24years. The question is, why should Christians, who had ruled Nigeria more than any faith accuse Muslims of Islamization agenda? This is not only ridiculous, it is even senseless. When Nigeria took independence in October 1st, 1960, both Tafawa Balewa (Muslim) and Nnamdi Azikwe (Christian)took the leadership of country as President and Prime minister respectively. Both ruled Nigeria for 5years, 3 months and their tenure ended in January 15,1966 after Tafawa Balewa (Muslim) was cruelly murdered in a military coup. After that democratic tenure was truncated by the coup, a Christian, Aguinyi Ironsi took over. He spent only 6 months before he was also cruelly murdered in a revenge coup. With the end of Ironsi’s government in August, 1966, Christian had ruled the country for 5 years, 9 months, while Muslim had only led for 5 years, 3 months. After Ironsi’s government, another christian, Yakubu Gowon took over and spent 9 good years in power and with that, Christian had ruled Nigeria for 14years, 9 months, while Muslim had only ruled for 5years, 3 months. Then, Murtala Muhammed (Muslim) took over as head of state and spent just 6 month before he was also murdered on sit. With the murder of Murtala on throne, the two Muslims that had ever ruled Nigeria were both murdered while serving the nation, and Murtala’s rule take the tally of a Muslim ruling Nigeria to 5years, 9 months, while Christian had ruled for 4years, 9 month. Again, another christian, Olusegun Obasanjo took over in 1976 as the country’s head of state. Obasanjo spent 3 years, 7 months in power, before handing over to Shehu Shagari (Muslim) in September 1979. With the handing over by Obasanjo, christian had ruled Nigeria for 18years, 4 months, while Muslim had only ruled for 5years, 9 months. So, as at 1979, Christian had ruled Nigeria for 18 years, 4 months, while Muslim had only ruled for 5years,9 months. While Christians are enjoying such privilege at the leadership of the country, there was no record that the Muslim population, particularly the religious apex body, Islamic Council of Nigeria allege that there was any christian agenda. So, it surprises me today that some Christians, led by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) continue to allege that there exist a plan to Islamize Nigeria because some Muslims are aspiring to rule the country. It is even more saddening that the apex christian body continue to claim that the present president, Goodluck Jonathan is being victimized because he his a christian. This is very shameful and unimaginable. Shagari took over from Obasanjo and ruled Nigeria for 4 years, 2 months before another Muslim, Muhammadu buhari took over and ruled for 1 years, 10 months making 6 years all together. Again, another Muslim, Ibrahim Babangida took over and ruled the country for good 8 years. With the end of IBB’s government, Muslims had ruled the country for 19years, 9 months, while Christian had ruled for 18years,4 months. Then In 1993, Ernest Shonekan, another Christian took over and spent only 4 months before Sani Abacha (Muslim) took over and spent another 4 years, 7 months. After the demise of Sani Abacha in June 8, 1998, another Muslim, Abdulsalam Abubakar took over and ruled for 11 months and with the end of Abubakar's tenure muslims had spent a combined period of 24 years, 3 months while christian had only ruled for 18years, 4 months. Then on May 29, 1999, Olusegun Obasanjo, another Christian took over and ruled for good 8 years. He handed over to Musa Yardua, a Muslim on May 29, 2007. With the end of Obasanjo’s tenure, Christian had ruled Nigeria for 26years,4 months, while Muslim had ruled for 24years, 3 months. Yardua ruled the country for 2 years, 9 months before Goodluck Jonathan, another christian took over. So far, he had ruled Nigeria for 5 years, 3 months. As it stand today, Christian had ruled Nigeria for 31years, 7 months, while Muslims only ruled for 24years, 3 months. If Good-luck Jonathan as incumbent president win re-election in this years presidential election and completed the tenure, christian would have ruled Nigeria for 35 years, 7 months, while Muslims had ruled for only 24 years, 3 months. So, if Muslims whom despite its slight majority according to records had ruled Nigeria for less period than their christian counterpart are not shouting about Christianization of Nigeria, why should the Christians, led by its apex body Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) continue to make this baseless claim about a supposed Islamic agenda, sowing the seed of discord between ordinary people of Nigeria? It should also be noted that, only one Nigerian of christian faith, Aguinyi Ironsi was murdered while serving as head of state in 1996 counter coup. 4 Muslims ex-presidents, namely Tafawa Balewa,Murtala Muhammed, Sani Abacha and Musa Yardua had died on the throne. Tafawa Balewa, the prime minister was cruelly murdered while the president, Nnamdi Azikwe was not. Murtala Muhammed was murdered and some blame it on Obasanjo, his deputy. Abacha was said to have been poisoned and Yardua died of a supposed heart failure. Now, in the world of deceit and conspiracy theory, Muslims could allege that, it was a christian agenda to kill the 4 Muslims on throne since out of the 4 death, christian took over on 3 occasions. When Balewa was murdered, Ironsi took over. When Murtala was murdered, Obasanjo took over and when Yaradua died, Jonathan took over. It could have been baselessly said that,Christians plotted to poison and kill Abacha. It could also be inferred that Yaradua didn’t actually died because of his heart failure, in the world of conspiracy theory, it is very easy to claim that he was poisoned. This is apart from the day light murder of Tafawa Balewa and Murtala Muhammed. You will agree with me that claiming the above is very easy and foolish, that’s exactly how the rhetoric's of islamic agenda sound to all reasonable people. Both empty claims are not only ridiculous, inhuman and deceitful, it is also evil. What am saying in essence is that, it is wrong, absolutely wrong for CAN and Christian politicians such as Femi Fani Kayode to continue to claim that there exist and empty islamic agenda, this is not only inhuman and deceitful, it is rather destroying the essence of Islam and Christianity. Such baseless insinuation is the causes of hatred, distrust and most issues of insecurity in Nigeria. It is taking away the peace, love and happiness that we used to share and replacing it with destruction, anger and division. As we begin the new year, let us be guided with reason and strive to bring back the lost love and peace in our society. We should remember that our graves awaits us, and we are all born free and equal in rights and dignity. WHICH WAY NIGERIA ? WHICH WAY TO GO ?? I LOVE MY FATHER LAND !! "You came begging for votes. I voted for you to manage my affairs for 4 years. After 4 years youu came begging that your enemies didn't let you perform but the same enemies didn't stop you from carrying $20B. Boko Haram is killing everyone- Christians, Muslims, southerners and northerners and you said you know them that they are in your govt but u refused to hand them over. We identified one of their sponsors. You didn't arrest him instead you provide him 200 soldiers for protection. You declared state of emergency taking control of the security architecture yet u blame governors who can't even control civil defence when your soldiers tactically maneuvered. Your kinsmen say IBB is sponsoring BH,you didn't arrest and few weeks toelections u suddenly realized u were fathered by IBB. You budget N1B each year to feed yourself, wife, mother and 2 kids but you want me to take 1/4 bag of rice from u for 4 years as my own share of stomach infrastructure. BH killed my brothers and sisters in Nyanya and while I mourned them you were dancing in Kano. While BH was burning my country u were in B/Faso to put out the fire in that country. While I struggle to fuel my small Tiger generator despite thefact that I pay my taxes u budget billions to service generators in your palace that electricity never goes out. You couldn't visit Chibok, Sambisa, Mubi, Bama, Damaturu, Gwoza but you went to Minna to see how "your father" was faring. You supervised the killing of many men but their"widows" bought PDP nomination form for you. While u fund BH, you said soldiers should go and fight with their hands and when they decided not to commit suicide you decided to kill them yourself. I can go on and on....but I will stop herebut remember that there is always a day of reckoning...when I will use my horse whip (PVC) to take my pound of flesh". Copied |

Agenda For Peace With Hamzat: 2015 Election - Hold Jonathan, Buhari Responsible For Any Bloodshed Written by Abdulrazaq O Hamzat (Mr Rights) http://mrrightsng..com/2014/12/2015-election-hold-jonathan-buhari.html The 2015 election is around the corner and threats of war, attack and counter attack by supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan and General Muhammadu Buhari is being allowed to litter Nigeria’s political space without caution. It was and still on record, that supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan such as Asari Dokubo, Niger Delta Militants and others have been threatening to unleash miam on the country should the president loose the 2015 election. These open threats by supporters of the president were and still never cautioned by the president, neither did his party (PDP) or any security agency caution the war mongers. Indirectly, it seems the president and all security agencies agree with those making the threats on behave of the president. Although, president Jonathan says his ambition doesn’t worth the live of any Nigerian, but he specifically fail to caution or punish those threatening to take lives of fellow Nigerians as a result of his ambition. This deliberate silence by the president over threats of miam by the his supporters is an indictment because they say, silent means yes. As the chief security officer of the nation, how can the commander in chief watch his supporters threaten to cause war, should he loose in a free and fair election? Former militant and leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, had recently declared that President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential ambition in 2015 was already settled, as his Niger Delta compatriots would not succumb to any force opposed to its full actualization. There would be blood in the streets if Mr. Jonathan is not reelected president in the 2015 election, the militant leader threatened. He had said: “I am ready and willing to help him in 2015 but there is something wrong with him (Jonathan), he has been hijacked by some people and he is not doing anything to remove them. Jonathan is not on course at all. Jonathan is destroying his presidency”. “For instance, he got to power majorly by the support of the social media that is the vehicle in which he was brought to power but as I am talking to you today, he has lost all his Facebook fans. He (Jonathan) is going down every day.” “How can he (Jonathan) deliver when everybody around him are sabotaging him?” He however added that, “My support for Jonathan will be biased, because charity begins at home. Monkey no fine, but im mama like am. Goodluck, na my person. 2015 is already a settled matter. Goodluck Jonathan would be President in 2015.’’ Asari Dokubo said. Asari-Dokubo in another interview with the National Mirror said the people of the Niger Delta would not accept even if Jonathan is defeated in a free and fair contest, adding that the President must be allowed to rule for eight years. According to him, “If it is war, the North wants, we are ready for them because Jonathan must complete the mandatory constitutionally allowable two terms of eight years. “At home, we have regrouped and we have put our people at alert". “Let them not try anything. If they abuse Jonathan, there is no problem, he is their President but anything that will affect the interest of the Ijaw people and the interest of the entire people of the Niger Delta will be resisted at any cost.” Asari-Dokubo also vowed that the defeat of Jonathan in a free and fair election would trigger crisis. He said: “Jonathan cannot be defeated, they cannot defeat him, they don’t have the right, every part of the country must have equal stake in the presidency of the country. Also, similar threats had been coming from some people in the north should a northerner not win the 2015 election. Although, those making these threats cannot be directly linked to General Muhammadu Buhari, but it was expected that since he his now the only northern candidate in the 2015 presidential election, he should lead in condemning those making such threats, but so far, he has also failed to do so. A northern political figure, Alhaji Lawal Kaita also insisted that a Northerner must emerge president of Nigeria by 2015 or there would be no Nigeria. Kaita said “We hear rumours all over that Jonathan is planning to contest in 2015. Well, the north is going to be prepared if the country remains one. That is, if the country remains one, we are going to fight for it. If not, everybody can go his way,” he said in an interview in Katsina. It was expected that, having participated in the civil war which is basically a war against separation of Nigeria, General Buhari would lead the way in condemning those threatening to lead the nation to division, but he kept mum over the matter. This is not a good example from a former head of state and military general. In view of the above, it should be on record that, if the 2015 election result to any bloodshed whatsoever, the two presidential candidates of People Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) would be held responsible for any bloodshed, as it would be assumed that those who carried out such destruction are direct supporters of either of the two candidates. Let me also assure that, nothing can divide Nigeria. The almighty that united the country won’t allow it divide. No amount of threat or violence can divide this beautiful union. Irrespective of threat or violence, this giant of Africa shall remain united to achieve the African dream, but those who unleash miam shall suffer the consequence of their actions. I therefore urged the Nigerian youths to avoid being used for any political violence or thuggery, as they would remain the victim of their own actions. All Nigerians should know that, the 2015 election is not a war, it is rather a time for decision on who leads Nigeria in the next 4 years. The decision we make in 2015 election is exactly what we would have to live with. Therefore, let us make our decision based on sincereity and truth, not on ethnic or religious sentiments. All those threatening the supporters of either of the two presidential candidates should desist from doing so in all parts of the country. Everyone is free to support any candidate of their choice. Let everyone support the candidate of their choice. Campaign should be done in a friendly manner not with threat, let no one engage in abusive or divisive campaign. Campaign shouldn’t be about ethnicity or religion, let it be based on issues not hate. I also urge the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a credible, free and fair election devoid of previous mal-practices. Let no one be dis-enfranchised or denied a chance to make input in who lead the country. I can assure that if the election is free, fair and credible, there wouldn’t be no any violence after the election. The perceived election rigging is usually the cause of post election violence. So, if INEC can conduct a free and fair election, there won’t be much challenges after election. Therefore, If you have not collected your Voters card, please go get yours now. Don’t be outside the decision makers. If you want the continuation of the present situation, vote in the PDP candidate and if you want a change from the status quo, vote the APC candidate. These are the only two candidates and one of them shall lead the country for the next four years. Its in my and your hands to decide. Vote not Fight. Follow the writer on twitter @Abdool101 |

Agenda For Peace With Mr.Rights: British Crown And African Sit-Tight Rulership Written by Abdulrazaq Hamzat http://mrrightsng..com/2014/12/british-crown-and-african-sit-tight.html British history has it that, the monarchy is the “raft of people who are paid out of the civil list”. Structural Marxism argues that, the monarchy symbolizes an “ideological state apparatus” through which stability is retained while the elite theorist claims that the monarchy represents the elites whose presence invariably helps to define and sustain the classed society. Study shows that, British monarchy is over 1195 years old and it and the parliament are the main ingredients of British sovereignty. The monarch and in this case, the queen is the head of state of the armed forces. It ascertains its relevance through the allegiance oath taken by the judiciary and the armed forces as both swear allegiance not to the state but to the crown. Before the 18th century, the British ruler had legislative and executive powers, but things changed in the 18th century during the reign of Queen Victoria. From then onward, the queen became a constitutional monarch. This is however mainly a symbolic and ceremonial post as they are advised by the executive arm of the government. The monarchy however maintains the power to declare war, make peace, impeach and select a prime minister, appoint judges, magistrates and councilors. The present head of the British Empire is Queen Elizabeth the second, who was crowned on the 6th February, 1952. She has the sole responsibility of overseeing the affairs of the United Kingdom and its territories worldwide. She and the royal family are saddled with official, ceremonial and representational duties.PCR 417 The purpose of the above history is to help us widen our understanding of the British government which has the queen, a life time hereditary position as the head of government with the power to appoint and impeach the prime minister. The queen also has the sole power to declare war, make peace, appoint judges, magistrates and councilors. This part of British history is necessary because, I have seen Africans argue in favor of or compliment foreign argument about sit tight rulership in Africa. During the campaign against Lauren Gbagbo, former president of Ivory Coast, many bought the argument of the foreign countries condemning African rulers of sit tight rulership. In another development, Col. Muhammed Gaddafi was accused of sit tight rulership which according to many Africans, justify the invasion of Libya and Ivory Coast to oust their respective former presidents. Although at that time, Libya had its prime minister which wasn’t Gaddafi. The role of Gaddafi was more like the role of the queen of England. Today, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe and many other African leaders are constantly being condemned for no other reason other than being sit tight rulers. However, what continues to surprise this writer is the fact that, if Africans condemn fellow Africans due to sit tight rulership to an extent that we support foreign invasion of African countries to dethrone them, how come no one is condemning the sit tight rulership of the queen of England? In such a modern world of civilization, where democracy is sweeping every nuke and corner of Africa and the world, an ancient state such as England have prevented democratic governance to take effect in its state. England under the leadership of the queen continues to prevent democracy, where people could elect their own choice of leaders, neither does it open British leadership to democratic elections. Despite the absence of democracy in England which obviously manifest sit-tight rulership, it is regrettable that no one is condemning or talking about this glaring act of sit tight rulership, but everyone including Africans are fast to condemn African leaders who hold unto power. It worth stating that, the sit tight rulership of African leaders is not constitutionally hereditary, unlike that of England which empowers the royal family to rule as birth right. Once a daughter is given birth to in the royal house, she automatically posses the right to rule. Once a queen is crowned, she automatically becomes the head of government with sovereign power. A position she will continue to occupy until her death. And even upon death, her children inherit that position as a matter of right. In my opinion, there is no sit tight rulership in the world that can be equated with that in England; I stand to be corrected though. It is however surprising that Africans who see such occurrence abroad look elsewhere, yet partner with those who had worst case study to destroy their own continent in the name of ousting a sit tight ruler. My position on such matter is simple, sit tight rulership is not encouraged in whatever capacity, but as Africans, we must not maintain a double standard against it, neither should we allow external forces to have freedom of distorting and dictating what we believe. History has it that, the British crown can be traced back to 1000 years with the evolvement of the kingdoms of England and Scotland. It should be noted that the Act of Settlement 1701 excluded Roman Catholics by birth or through marriage from the royal lineage. In 1707, there was the amalgamation the kingdoms of England and Scotland and this fusion led to the creation of the Kingdom of Great Britain and in 1801, the kingdom of Ireland was fused with the Kingdom of Great Britain and this led to the creation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. In the 1920s, a vast majority of Irish states broke away from the kingdom and went ahead to form the Irish Free States and after the second World War , most of the erstwhile colonies and territories gained independence, after this, Queen Elizabeth II adopted the title head of the Commonwealth. This however is only a ceremonial title. The monarch also plays a constitutionally approved role in the church and in this case, the incumbent queen, Queen Elizabeth II acts as the governor of the Church. The queen and prime minister play a ceremonial role in the appointment of the archbishops and bishops in England. Indeed, the British crown has been one of the most important non-state actors in both the ancient and the modern world. Being the head of the British Empire, the monarch is accorded the highest respect possible by the British public, but what is however puzzling is that the international community equally accords the British crown the best form of respect ever possible. This is not unconnected to the strides that Britain had made in the 19th century through the colonization of territories all over the world. This makes the British Empire or colonized territories extend to every part of the globe; Africa, America, Asia, Oceania, etc. Britain colonized the US, Australia, New Zealand, India, and numerous countries in Africa (Levine, 2007). Most of these countries gained independence and became members of the Commonwealth of Nations. The Commonwealth of Nations is led by, and exists on the goodwill of the British crown. Quite a number of British colonies, even after independence ceremonially respects and accords ceremonial roles to the British monarch. In this respect we have Australia, New Zealand, and Nigeria until 1963. This translates to the fact that the importance of the British monarch transcends the United Kingdom. Though may not be as powerful as it was in the earlier centuries but yet still commands immense respect both in and outside of Britain. This respect is even more glaring on states and official visits, and also in the yearly meetings of the Commonwealth Head of State and government meetings. By extension therefore, the position of the British monarchy on issue of relevance to the international system is very important and regarded with utmost respect by states and other non-state actors. PCR417. What gained the British queen such respect in International circle is the sit tight rulership. Therefore, If the queen of England is accorded due respect in her capacity as a sit tight ruler across the world, why should African sit tight rulers be castigated for no other reason than being sit tight rulers? We must also note that, the British people had severally accused the royal family of consuming larger percentage of the British budget, an accusation which sparked protest some couple of times. Some of these protests see police shooting at protesters and violating their fundamental human rights. During these protest, we hardly hear of international condemnation against the sit tight rulership of the queen, neither did we hear of condemnation about the misappropriation of funds, which the royal house was accused of, or the violation of citizens’ human rights. Africans who are quick to condemn sit tight rulership at home also never utter any words against the British autocracy; neither did they have solidarity with the British people against such dictatorship. There was no foreign intervention in Britain to oust the queen having been opposed by the people themselves, yet some misguided Africans continue to argue in favor of foreign invasion to oust African sit-tight rulers. British citizens in 2012 staged a powerful anti- monarchy protest on the banks of the themes ahead of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee river pageant. The protesters, supporters of the campaign group held banners and placards saying ‘power to the people’, citizen not subject, and “democracy not monarchy’’ as they called for the abolition of the monarchy. They are campaigning for an elected head of state to replace the monarchy. They also called for a new constitution that really puts power in the hand of voters. This is similar to the protest in Libya which called for an elected head. The protest involved a delegation from the Swedish republican movement as well as representatives of Republic from branches in Scotland and Wales. According to one of the protesters, ‘’ the whole country isn’t in love with the monarchy. It’s a minority interest. We will keep going until the monarchy is abolished. Let me conclude with an advice for our brothers and sisters across the continent, Africans should be mindful of how we expose ourselves and accommodate unhelpful foreign inversion. It deepens the poverty level and shut doors on possible solution. To restore peace to Africa, we must always find internal solution to our internal challenges. Follow me on twitter @Abdool101 |

My son is innocent, father of convicted fowl thieve cry out, accuse judge of given unjust judgement Last week, the nation was flooded with a news of how an Osun state High Court judge sentenced two persons to death for stealing fowls. According to the news report, ‘’Justice Jide Falola of an Osun State High Court sitting in Okuku sentenced the two robbers to death for stealing fowls.’’ However, Investigation by Mr.Rights indicate that, the convicts are innocent as testified to by Mr. Balogun Taiwo, the police officer attached to Divisional Police headquarters, Okuku who made the arrest. According to reports, the convicts, Olowookere Segun and Morakinyo Sunday, were said to have been found guilty of forcefully breaking into a house in April 2010 and carting away some belongings. But according to Mr.rights investigations, the two (2) convicts are not part of the fowl robbers. Infact, One of the suspect (Segun Olowookere) is said to be out of town when the crime took place. ‘’Those arrested for stealing fowl had been released, my son and the other convict were roped and have been in detention since 2010 because I refused to pay 30,000 bribe as demanded by then Okuku DPO said Mr. olowookere, father of one of the convicts.’’ Corrobating the above statement, Mr. Balogun Taiwo, the police officers who arrested the fowl thieves and testified before the court told Mr.Rights via phone that: ‘’I told the court that those I arrested for stealing fowls are not these boys. We only arrested this one’s because their names were mentioned by those other one’s and even those ones are no where to be found now.It seems they had been released. I told the court this but I don’t understand the judgement.’’ Mr. Balogun Taiwo said. Also, the owner of the poultry exonerated the convicts before the court, saying they were not the one’s who came to steal fowl in the poultry. According to Mr. Olowookere, one of the convicts father, the owner of the said poultry is his cousin brother and he specifically told the court that the convicts were not the one’s who stole from his poultry. Also, Alhaja Umani Oyewo, the woman in whose house they were said to have stolen before also told the court that they never stole anything in her house. Mr. Olowookere said. Every one including the lawyers, police and others who testified before the court said they don’t understand the judgement. One of the convicts father, Mr. Olowookere spoke to Mr.rights about his son’s ordeal. According to him, ‘’my son (segun) was not in town on the day the theft took place, he went to Ila- Orangun, a nearby town. Contrary to the false claim, my son was never arrested along with those at the crime scene. He was arrested a day after the crime in my house at about 8:30 a.m. Police wrote a false statement and forced them to accept guilt after torture. A day before his arrest, the police came to where they were playing table tennis and all the boys there ran away including my son, but the police grabbed one of them and took him to their van. I was sitting in my shop not far away from there. it seems there was a boy in the police van who said the boy grabbed wasn’t the one they were looking for, so he was released. The boy came back to inform me that it was my son (Segun) they were looking for and when my son came back, I asked what he has done this time that the police were looking for him, but he assured me he did nothing. Knowing that my son is a very strong headed and stubborn boy who usually engage in fights, I gave him some money to go back to Ila-Orangun where he just returned yesterday until things get settled, but he refused. He insisted he never did anything wrong to anyone and I let him be. He doesn’t lie. Mr. Olowookere said When the police came back the next morning, he followed them willingly, hoping that his innocence in whatever accusation would be proven, but since that day he was taken away by the police, he never returned home. Its 2010. he said. The police who came to arrest him informed us that, some boys stole fowl in a poultry and they were caught and after interrogation, they mentioned my son’s name as their friend and that they had once went to steal in one Alhaja Umani Oyewo’s house. So, they came to arrest him on that basis, not because he was part of those who went to steal the fowl. ‘’But my son don’t steal, he has never been to a police station. He was just 16years old as at then, now he his 20. Mr. Olowookere explained that, Segun was taken to the Okuku police station and he later went there to bail him since he his sure his won doesn’t steals, but upon getting there, he meet the police beating him brutally. According to him, ‘’They were hitting him with their gun boot in his chest brutally and I couldn’t watch my son treated in such a manner for doing nothing. I quickly came between them and him, questioning why a 16 year old innocent boy would be subjected to such a cruel treatment on mere allegation. The police didn’t stop, we engaged in serious verbal exchange and I was sent out of the station.’’ I went back the next day and meet the DPO to release my son, but the DPO said I have to pay N30,000.00, else, my son would rot in jail. He his innocent I responded, but the DPO is bent on taking the money. Mr. Olowookere said. Knowing how brutal they were treating him before I was sent away, I had no choice than look for the money. I raise N15,000.00 for bail, but the DPO insisted I must get 30,000 or my son would rot in jail. I couldn’t raise 30,000 and in about a week, I went to a friend doing politics who knew one of former Governor Olagunsoye oyinlola’s brother. He took me there and the former Governors brother asked someone to follow us to the station to get him released. Upon getting to the station, the DPO felt embarrassed and he told the person that the boys had been transferred to the head quarter in osogbo, but they were still in the station. The DPO quickly arranged a vehicle that took them to Osogbo that day, but before they did, they wrote false statement against him and the other convict and forced them to sign. It would interest you to know that, 7 people were arrested as a result of this incident, but the original thieves arrested at the crime scene had been released, but my son and the other convict who were merely alleged and couldn’t pay the N30,000 had been kept in prison since 2010. Mr. Olowookere noted that, Since 2010, my 16 year old son and the other boy had been kept in prison not because they committed any crime, and worse still, they are now sentenced to death for doing nothing. Adding that, nobody accused them of stealing anything, all the witnesses in court said my son didn’’t do anything. The court only rely on the false statement provided by the police in which they wrote and forced the children to sign, accepting guilt. Segun is my only son, I have been spending money since 2010 to get my son released since everyone said he his innocent, but the police had made things difficult. I need true justice, my son need true justice Olowokere said. Investigation by Mr.Rights also proved that, the two convicts are not part of those arrested at the crime scene, neither were they ever reported to have stolen anything. The convict father insisted that, the confession they were said to have made was in the statement written by the police on their behave which they were forced to sign. He wondered why the judge would rely on a police statement which all witness testify to the contrary. Mr. Balogun Taiwo, the police officer who made the arrest also informed Mr.Rights that the judgement was shocking. According to him, I testified before the court that these boys were not the boys I arrested. The boys I arrested had long been released. We only arrested these boys because their names were mentioned by the other one’s as their friend and that they had went to steal in one Alhaja Umani Oyewo house before. but even the Alhaja testify before the court that nobody stole from her house Mr. Balogun Taiwo said. The news report indicate that, prosecution team, led by the state Solicitor-General, Mrs Abiola Adewemimo, called six witnesses and tendered several exhibits during the prosecution. But investigation shows that, none of the six witnesses indicted the convict. The exhibit tendered were also never recovered from the convicts our investigation showed. http://mrrightsng..com/2014/12/my-son-is-innocent-father-of-convicted.html |

Hum. So, will Nigerians also praise the clueless one afterward? |
Which of the rulers and leaders of this nation did we not ask to go? Yet when they go away, we turn around to run after them proclaiming them saints and saviors. Did we not ask the colonial masters to go? After they left, where has been our destination? Did we not ask Balewa to go? He was even killed. Did we not ask Ironsi to go? He also was killed. What about Gowon whom we nicknamed Go On With One Nigeria? Did we not ask him to go? The great Murtala Muhammed was asked to go as he was also killed. Did we not ask Gen Obasanjo to go as he struggled to hand over? What about Shehu Shagari, the first Executive President of Nigeria? Was he not asked to go with the stories of corruption? At last he was forced out and denied the mandate given to him by Nigerians. Buhari emerged with the promise to end corruption and while he was focused on corrupt leaders, what happened? Did we not ask him to go? IBB came with the title of Military President and opened the way for women's involvement in governance of the nation. Yet, we asked him to go. In trying to go, he announced stepping aside and brought in Shonekan whom we all rejected as his government was declared illegal. He was asked to go while Abacha emerged with a renewed determination to move the nation to another level. Did we not ask him to go? Were people not celebrating the death of Abacha? Abdulsalami came in with the commitment to move us to the next level. Did we not ask him to go? He persevered and handed over to Obasanjo, the only Nigerian who made a second coming after 20 years. At his second coming, he completed two tenures and while he wanted to open the realm of the first ever third tenure, we asked him to go. Umaru Musa Yaradua emerged as the next President and despite all his good intentions, how many of us supported him? We opposed him until death and he had to go. The emergence of Goodluck Jonathan was strengthened even by the leaders of the opposition movement who all declared that GEJ must be sworn in. Now, GEJ has come and in his desire to fulfill the constitutional provision for two tenures, we are asking again that GEJ should go. Unfortunately, all those we asked to go in the past have been proclaimed the heroes of our present nation. They are our chief consultants now on who should lead us. Some have even been called to consider coming back again. What if we have made those we rejected in the past to serve as the heroes of the moment? |
