Health / Amazing Tips To Keep You Healthy Through The Rainy Season. by bimades(f): 7:01pm On Jul 11, 2020
The rainy season is pretty much upon us and this year the rains have seemed pretty much more frequent and heavy than it has been in a while. Although we love the cool atmosphere, the rains have altered a couple of day-to-day activities but not to worry, the sun will be out again soon enough.
While enjoying the weather, let us not forget to take better care of ourselves this season to avoid being affected by it. Although these are probably tips relevant to everyday living. I thought I should bring them up again because it is pretty much very important to survive through this season more especially.
Here are some enlightening tips to help you cope through the rains without any challenges

Get some Vitamin D supplements- The sun is our major source of Vitamin D and since we are getting lesser of it this season. It would be nice to have supplements to make up for it.
Exercise to flex bones, muscles and joints- It is pretty important to engage in activities and light workouts to keep the heart healthy and warm up the body system during this season as the cold may make the body feel stiffened and weak.
Get enough rest- Get as much rest as you can to reduce coming up with hangovers because this season may also make you fall tired more easily.
Hot showers- These are also very important as they help loosen up the body muscles and help regulate the body temperature too.
Pre plan outfits to avoid running late- There are chances you may wake up late, or get held back by the rain if you don't set out early enough, so it is important to pre plan outfits. Also you want to be sure to select outfits that can keep you warm.
Keep umbrellas and raincoats handy- Do not be caught by surprise, if a downpour suddenly starts when you are out. This is a good time to have a hand umbrella or raincoat packed in your everyday bag.
You may want to switch to thicker curtains- Would you like your space to feel a bit more warm and cozy than the outside?, now is probably a good time to consider putting up thick curtains to keep the house warmer. You can wash your lighter curtains and store for when the weather gets warmer.
Keep socks handy- The rainy season is also a good time to keep your feet warm, to avoid getting a cold or even cracked feet. Keeping your socks within arm's reach makes it easier to put them on when you need to. Socks are really great for this season.
Moisturise- This can not be stressed enough but is very important to moisturise this season. It will help prevent your skin from getting dry and cracked as well as also keep you glowing, be sure not to forget your feet.
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables- These are probably the best sources of vitamins right now, especially fruits rich in vitamin C. Vitamins help is boost our overall immune system and fight against germs and infections. Vitamin C especially also helps treat and prevent the body from flu and other possible illnesses.
Use weather forecast- If you have not been following weather forecasts, you may want to consider it now. Although it may not be a hundred percent accurate all the time. You can decide whether or not to suspend an outing especially if it is something you can reschedule if there are higher chances of a stormy weather or rainfall.
Keep warmer outfits close to reach in closet/wardrobe- You may also want to reorder your wardrobe to keep the warmer outfits within reach. This may be quite a task but it is very important and it also makes it easier to have something warm on at all times especially when you have to pick your outfits in a rush
Sweaters and jackets- If you don't already have your go-to Sweaters ,Jackets or Hoodies, Now is probably the best time to get some and flex them before the weather switches again. Christmas sweaters are also welcome.
Stock up on food- One of the more frustrating experiences in the rainy season is the inability to go out just whenever and this is usually the time when you easily run out of food too. You are probably consuming more food than you would any other day and that is because the body needs more energy gotten from more food to keep warm. So to avoid being stuck in the house with limited options of what to eat, you may want to stock up whenever you get the chance to go out.
Music motivation- Music may serve as a stress relief but a lot of times music is also all the motivation you need to be more productive, so when you feel under the weather, be sure to update your playlists and have some music on for motivation, you would be amazed at how effective it can be.
Do your laundry more often- Laundry will definitely take longer times to dry this season especially for people who do not use dryers. Also the rains may hinder you from getting to the laundromat at the time of your choice so you do not want to stock up laundry now. Do your laundry as often as you get the chance to, to avoid having a stockpile of dirty clothes.
Beverages, tea, oats, cornmeal, flakes, custard have them and serve hot- To get the bet results from your foods especially beverages you may want to take them at a warmer temperature than you normally do, so you can get some of that heat in your system. Also you can keep a flask around to store your beverages so you can always have it hot or warm but not scorching hot, It is advisable to cut back on cold or chilly foods during this time.
Keep feet and hands warm- It is also important to keep the feet and hands warm at all times especially for the little ones, warmer hands and feet prevent the cold from getting into the body system.
Don't expose your chest and ears- This is also a good time to keep the chest covered at all times to prevent coming down with a cold. If you can, cover your ears too, head warmers do a great job of keeping the heads and ears covered properly.
Keep Foot Mats- There is probably more mud sticking on to shoes now and this may make more of a mess if it gets inside. keeping foot mats help clean up the feet before you step in so you do not take the mud and wetness inside with your feet.

I do hope we all have an enjoyable rainy season and would appreciate your contributions in the comments section. Have an Amazing season and Stay Safe.

Nairaland / General / Re: Can 30 Thousand Naira Income Be Sufficient For A Month? by bimades(f): 4:59pm On Jun 23, 2020
Honestly it's pretty hard everywhere but we just have to keep pushing cos once you break through you will eventually enjoy life anf forget your sufferings. If you can learn a craft or skill for now i will advise you to give it a shot while also searching fo a job.
Twinkletwin:
guy life is hard o for me i live 3 months without seeing 3k talkmore of having 30k in a month see I hate this life and might take mine soon
Nairaland / General / Can 30 Thousand Naira Income Be Sufficient For A Month? by bimades(f): 5:58pm On Jun 22, 2020
Some days ago people were actually arguing on how much is sufficient to last an average adult for a month in a city like Lagos as monthly income. While some people argued that 30000 (Thirty Thousand) Naira was okay to be managed for a month, if a person is being prudent with their spending, some people also argued that even for as far as a hundred thousand a month survival is still not enjoyable especially in a city like Lagos.

Some people explained that if they do not need to pay rent and school fees or pay for feeding and transportation they could conveniently live on a 30000 (Thirty Thousand) Naira income, and some people also argued that even if you don't have to pay rent or probably you're squatting with a friend and you manage your spendings on feeding and other bills 30000 (Thirty Thousand) Naira would definitely not last for a month anywhere.

I'm my opinion, Living comfortably as well as having some savings may cost you more than 30000 (Thirty Thousand) Naira a month especially if you have bills and financial obligations. Unfortunately due to the high level of poverty and unemployment in the country, we have people who have no choice than to manage with any amount they can afford to earn monthly, but under normal circumstances I feel the average Nigerian would definitely like to earn a higher income to afford a better lifestyle.
I would love to have your takes on the topic too so kindly leave a comment under this post.

Nairaland / General / Re: How Would You Rate The NCDC And Nigeria's Response To The COVID19 Pandemic? by bimades(f): 4:37pm On May 12, 2020
LOL, yea. I think they are doing their best as well. Their performance is really commendable and I am sure Given more resources, they would be able to deliver better results as well
EzzyCarter:
Honestly, NCDC has been doing a really excellent job. Ama give em 100% in fact, once Covid-19 is over , all NCDC officials should be inducted into Member of the Order of Naija ( MON) grin grin .. and I'm not being sarcastic tongue
Nairaland / General / How Would You Rate The NCDC And Nigeria's Response To The COVID19 Pandemic? by bimades(f): 4:06pm On May 09, 2020
The NCDC as well as essential workers especially in the health sector have been on frontline duty combatting the virus across the country with the support of the Nigerian federal government as well as notable individuals across the country.
However the cases which were initially increasing in Tens of numbers daily have now been noticeably increasing in Hundreds of numbers daily with Lagos alone recording over a Hundred cases on most days. This is not the worst we have seen of the virus on a global scale, but Nigerians are definitely not satisfied with the geometric increase in the number of COVID19 cases confirmed daily. Most people who can afford to, had to continue their self-quarantine and kept staying indoor out of fear of being contaminated with virus as well as the fear of a possible or pretty much certain increase in infected people owing to the lifting of the 5 (five) week long lockdown . As much as people would have loved for the lockdown to go on till the Corona Virus is totally subdued. A large number of Nigerians depend fully on daily hustle and daily income hence were financially destabilised throughout the lockdown period, also a lot of businesses were crippled and most people could not actually work from home and some even lost their jobs. Amidst all of these there was no form of palliative or aids from the government, I would have loved to say there was little palliative by the government but then a cup of Rice or a tiny Loaf of Bread for an entire Apartment to feed on for 5 weeks doesn’t quite cut it for me.
Now the issue is, some people are of the opinion that the number of confirmed COVID19 cases as well as deaths published by the NCDC daily are quite overstated and their reasons are that; there is no transparency as to how the cases are being handled, people want to know who the infected persons are, how they were diagnosed and picked up, if they are being treated for free as well as data on the recovered persons and deaths. Also people are aware that donations running into Billions of Dollars as well as equipment have been made towards the COVID19 cause and they are curious as to how these funds are being disbursed, a lot of people also have great distrust in the government and are insinuating that COVID19 is being used as a smokescreen by the government to perpetuate financial crimes and embezzlement of public funds.
Another set of people however are of the opinion that the number of COVID19 cases more especially the deaths are being understated as there hasn’t been any exact cure yet and they are quite curious as to how the NCDC is handling treatments. Also there have been reports of people who claimed to have contacted the NCDC for suspected COVID19 cases and they did not get a response till the suspected cases resulted in deaths and these deaths were not diagnosed or recorded by the NCDC. Also there have been reports of people who were in denial till the cases became worse, some of them had their samples taken by the NCDC for testing and their test results never came back till they passed on. In all of this, people are beginning to insinuate that the NCDC is being preferential in their attention to cases.
Finally, we have another set of people who simply believe that there is no Corona Virus in Nigeria and it is all an agenda to raise funds and loot by the government. Well, Nigeria is a densely populated country so we all definitely cannot agree to the same thing on most occasions, but one thing we can agree on is that we do not have trustworthy or selfless leaders.
The NCDC however, also stated on some occasions that it is hard to keep up with the number of complaints they get daily and that a lot of the calls they get are quite provocative and sometimes prank calls. Let’s stop with the prank calling guys!
I would like to know what your thoughts are on the COVID19 situation in the country, as well as if you think Nigeria is doing enough to combat the virus.

However do not forget to observe the laid down safety precautions;
Wash your hands and sanitize regularly.
Avoid crowds and large gatherings.
Stay indoors if you can and if you must go out please use a facemask and gloves.
Drink lots of water.
And in case of symptoms or suspected cases, get in touch with the NCDC via their toll-free lines immediately.
#StaySafe

Romance / Do Age Brackets Matter In Relationships? by bimades(f): 1:05pm On Feb 08, 2020
Happy weekend everyone, so there have been discussions about why more men in their Thirties (30's) are more interested in dating ladies in their Twenties (20's) rather than go for single ladies in their Thirties (30's) as well. As well as why more Ladies in their Twenties (20's) also prefer to date older men as opposed to guys within their age bracket. What is your take on this?

Some Ladies argue argue that the older men are more mature and less stressful to date while some people feel the older men find the younger ladies easier to prey on and manipulate especially when it comes to emotions.
Some Men also stated that older ladies come with more drama in relationships and sometimes more baggage as compared to the younger Ladies.
However there are also speculations that a lot of these older men are more interested in using the younger ladies to pass time while building or planning to build a family.
The Guys also came out to express themselves about how a lot of them are being ignored by the ladies in their age bracket who prefer older successful men and they also plan to return the favour when they come of age and status.

We would like to hear your views on this topic as well as any experience you may like to share.

Career / Taking Essential Steps That Can Lead To Success. by bimades(f): 11:51pm On Sep 25, 2019
In life we all have goals, ambition and dreams of what we would love our future to look like. In most cases if not all, everyone wants a bright and successful future and we keep taking steps towards achieving one. Unfortunately at times we may not always be lucky to have life play out exactly how we would have loved but it always essential not to forget to keep moving as we read in the last previous weekly write up.
Today I have heard of and seen a lot of zealous minds with brilliant ideas still living in shadows for a couple of reasons. Fear and procrastination are some of the biggest reasons a lot of brilliant ideas have not taken necessary steps asides from lack of essential resources amidst other things. It is important to note that no amount of resources is too little to begin actualising your dreams with. Also you may want to list out a few things that may be holding you back from taking certain steps and start to tackle them one after the other, for instance;

What are you fears?
Why are you scared of them?
What should you do to overcome these fears?
Why are you not doing them yet?
Why can't you take an essential step now?
What should you do to overcome these barriers?

Having answered these questions, I would believe necessary issues as well as their possible solutions would have been identified. These are the things keeping us back and may need to be addressed for notable progress to be made.

Next you may need to talk with someone, preferable someone who may have had a similar experience as you or an expert in the field you are into or looking into, this person may serve as your mentor. Also it is important to consider having some patience while waiting to see if your plans to would work out, a good plan requires some;

Planning
Research
Learning
Consistency
Hard Work
Regular Improvement

However know how to avoid dream killers once you spot them.

A good Network will as well take you far and help you achieve a lot. Building a good relationship with  acquaintances from school, colleagues at work, Friends online, Family, and also going out and attending free events and also talking to people around you can help put your dream out there and also get you some good connections. One of those connections might be all you need to hit it big. Do not relent do not get tired and most importantly do not give up and ensure to take productive steps everyday.

Why wait for tomorrow? Take a step NOW!

Health / Check Out These Amazing Lifestyle Tips To Keep You Healthy And Glowing. by bimades(f): 3:21pm On Sep 18, 2019
Here are a few tips to keep you healthier and also boost your productivity;

Eat fruits: This is very important, and also very easy. I would like to describe fruits as ready made foods by Nature. and they are very available too. Be sure to have at least a variety of fruits everyday and the benefits are limitless. You can read my write up about fruits and vegetables by clicking the link as well ESSENTIAL FACTS ABOUT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES – CLASSIFICATION, BENEFITS AND DEMERITS.
Rest: It is also important not to joke with time meant to be for resting, get as much rest as you can, it’s very good for the body, you would not like to break down at a crucial moment. So when you need some rest, suspend as much activities as you may need to and get some shut eye.
Do lots of walking: I should mention that moving around for an ample amount of time helps to get rid of all the bad fats in the body, keeps you healthy, fit and glowing as well.
Moisturize your skin and hair: This will help keep your hair and skin glowing and also protect your hair and skin from harmful Sun Rays and possible skin and hair breakouts.
Wash your hand and face before going to bed if you can’t afford to take a shower: Not only will this help you get rid of unwanted oils and dirts on the skin, brut leaving the water on is a great way of hydrating the skin. A quick rinse before bed might save you a lot of skin drama.
Drink water often and cut back on soda: As hard as this may be for some of us, not excluding my humble self. Cutting back on sugars and soda and increasing water intake is probably one of the best lifestyle choices one can make these days. So much junk has easy access to our system and it’s only fair to regulate as much as we can to keep that great look.
As easy as it looks, it may not come easy to observe all these lifestyle activities but I can guarantee that if you set your mind to it and maybe put it in a note and stick it somewhere visible or set reminders for yourself, you would be amazed at the results and with regular practice you would be feeling much better and healthier in no time.

Have a great week and don’t forget Health is Wealth.

Literature / Do Not Stop, Do Not Give Up- A Write Up By Adebimpe. by bimades(f): 5:58pm On Sep 16, 2019
Hopes, Dreams, Aspirations, Achievable Goals, these are words that keep ringing in your head as you plan and journey towards growth, success and ultimately Financial stability.
In recent times I have seen a lot of great minds making inspiring comebacks and achieving greatness after going through certain circumstances that made them feel discouraged. Adults going back to school, Ladies going back to learn and study more even after having a child they didn't plan for and Men picking themselves up after going through scary challenges.
At different times in life we may face challenges it may occur at an earlier stage in life, it may occur as midlife crisis or it's may come later in life after things have started off smoothly. Do not forget that every life has a purpose and when you give up you do not get to fulfil your purpose. Do not be scared, do not be discouraged, do not stay down struggle to get back up and keep up the race.
