Q5. Demand and supplu equation are 2P2+Q2=11 and p+2q=7. Find the equilibriu price and quantity when p stand for price and Q for quantity.At Equilibrum Supply = Demand Solve using simultaneous equation = p = 7 - 2q Substitute into equation one to yield 9q2 - 56q + 87 = 0 p = 1 q = 3 Alternate soln p = 0.56 q = 3.22 |
Q4. If #1000 000 was deposited in a bank on 1st April 2013, what would it amount on 1st April 2033 if the compound interest at 3% per annum was allowed.4. Similar principle Assuming a depoSit is made on 1st April 2033 and the investment is liquidated n = 20 YEARS FV factor = (1.03 ^ 20 - 1)/0/.03 = 26.87037449 if you assume you are collecting what you have as at that date without that day investment, you subtract one FV factor will then be 25.87037449 So multipliy by 1,000,000 to get the FV |
Q3. To accumulate a fund for his daughter's higher education, a man invests a sum of #1000 on the daughter's first birthday and an equal amount on each of her subsequent's birthdays if the interest is compounded semi annually at the rate of 6% per annum, find the amount accumulated jst after the investment has been made on the 18th birthday?Sorry I have checked in in a while, you guys were going too quantum for me ![]() Semiannual compounding means 3% every 6 months At the 18 birthday means there are 17 years since the investment started on the 1st year hence we will be looking at 33 periods (2n -2) Where n = 17 because this looks at the end of the 17th year However because the payments are on an annual nature, the interest rate will be annualized to get an effective annual rate Eff rate r eff = 1.03 ^ 2 - 1 = 6.09% This will be applied for 18 - 1 = 17 years Formulas Future Value factor = ((1 + reff )^N - 1)/reff Formula Future Value = Equal payment * Future Value factor FV factor = 1.0609^17-1/0/0609 = 28.4385106 FV = 1000 * 28.4385106 = 28,438.51 |
shymexx: The books you listed focused on European history - no one wants to hear about African history... Most people of other races in the West have never heard about some of our revered writers... You may check the GuardianUK about the page dedicated to Chinua Achebe's death in the CIF section... it has only 19 comments and most of the people who posted comments there are Africans... Heck, a redneck also posted an ignorant comment on there, but thank God Daniel Waweru was there to call him out for his stupidity...I know brah.. just saying that these are successful books and they dwell from a time of yore.. if we in Africa can tap into our roots, we could have some good stuff |
tellwisdom: I hope you no go begin reason my wife after some sips??***abegi.. sharperly wakes up from alcohol induced euphoria and starts running home.... |
shymexx: Opinions are like ar.seholes, everyone is entitled to one... I believe the Senegalese people would also say the same about Chiekh Anta Diop... and Yoruba people believe Wole Soyinka is the greatest black writer ever... You don't need to argue it, just let it slide... At the end of the day, their body of work, their awards, and how their works stand the test of time will judge who the best is when it's all said and done...True that..... |
shymexx: Bwahahahahahaha - your hands are clean till she comes to your house with a baby... Don't worry, I'll ask the "oga at the top" and let you know if he wants you to proceed with the adventurism or not...One crazy book i read was Palm Wine Drinkard Do you remember Cyprian Ekwensi, he covered that era also..... you are right,,money rules but interestingly most best selling books worldwide cover a pre historical/fantasy theme Twilight - though modern heavy inspiration from Bram Stoker's Dracula - lovely book Harry Potter - witches The Ring books - Tolkien a time the earth was pure 50 shades - D H Lawrence... Hunger Games - gladiatorial challenges There is a market for it I can imagine the coming generation will question us why we never helped them put roots |
Roland17: Nne!!! i am not seeking consensus from anyone...this is an opinion i am entitled to, that i why i used "I BELIEVE"ok.. i did not see believe but no wahala.. you've qualified your statement and its not about consensus but to ensure arguments don't sully this special thread |
tellwisdom: He's a suspect for now, but has not been proven guilty.Atoo.. the mata funny o dem accuse you and you no cause katakata for there.... maybe the s.perm really flew spiritually from him to do the deed so he may really be innocent ... nahhh if you ask me, who i go ask ****** joins in drinking that palmwine gyrate o gyrate o ... |
Roland17: Albert Chinualumogu Achebe, the greatest Writer Africa has ever produced!!!! like it or hate it!!!!I believe he was one of the best from Africa.. dont unnecessarily let arguments spoil the honor due this great man |

shymexx: Fixed @the bolded...Abegi o.. e jooo Owo mi mo ![]() My hands are clean o as Oga @the top has not approved such moves for me On african writers, it seems they are ashamed of our history Achebe's great trilogy of books covered from pre - colonial to around independence Also helped with a bit of history of naija Maybe one writer will rise and see this niche The probem is that we are losing out culture and there is a disconnect between the old days and now |

Ive not read Ben Okri in a while and neither Chimamanda but looking at the last 5 winners of the Literature, the writer has to have a strong blend of his roots with contemporary narration (contemporary now covers war, same sex issues, economic deprivations) - issues that can move the world on an emotional scale This i dont know yet if we have someone in naija that can do this I love the writer of Baba Segi's wives |
shymexx: Alright bro, we need to get back to "judging" these women..I try small, Woles books too have an element of the old days in Ibadan but I loved the Prof's narrative of the days before the white man infeted Africa with their civilisation - one that threatens our survival as a species on this earth On the judging of the women, my integrity has been impugned by allegations of attraction to one of the rabid posters on that thread so i am on the DL now ![]() Ivynwa: We indeed lost a gem, my brother.May he rest in perfect peace and may I be granted the favor to say my life touched a fraction of those he touched |
tellwsdom: Ok ..I don hearhehehe... the guy is a learner them call you say na u get belle.. u no voke deny that kain thing u sef no say u don enter holy of holies... atoo u do gentle... ok o |
dayokanu: Cocoa housedayo i feel you.... but OJA was not a saint But lets not derail this thread that is dedicated to a literary luminary whose works will stand the test of time |
Messi scores a penalty to give Argentina a 2 - 0 lead (45 mins) |
Ivynwa: You mean that you wrote this----Thanks ma.. i love that book, ditto Man of the People, Arrow of God He made me yearn for the pre-colonial days |
shymexx: Bro, please don't derail the thread...sorry for derailing , the fact is a lot of us were fed some stories about OJA from childhood but well.... Ivynwa: The great poem, my brother.i wrote it ma.. its not really a poem but my collection of poignant parts in his greatest work - Things Fall Apart |
Ivynwa: Who wrote that?Who wrote what. sorry i dont get ur question |
We actually lost him when he wrote that controversial memoir ("There was a Country" - coloured with distorted facts) that revived the healing wounds of the civil war. I mean he spent those last days sowing hatred.
your opinion... i need to buy that book sef and read it aside from free education, some roads what else did OJA and SLA really do for this country They all had a chance to lay a good foundation and used selfishness to spoil it Wild Wild west, penekelemes etc Go and find out how much land was appropriated by Awoists in the western region.. you go know Abegi this man is great and nothing can diminish that |
RIP Great Icon.. your books brightened my childhood especially the one of the wife beater that was tied under the tree to let the breadfruit crush as a lesson I remember the vanquishing of Amalinze the Cat |

..I knw be tiwa oo
We've all been brainwashed to believe life started when the first white man came to Africa - telling them otherwise would you seem disconnected from their own reality...
