Many prefer them coz they’re usually unaware about using marriage to get papers. Non natives and people from other background or race are mostly informed about marriage for papers and will harbour the thoughts you’re with them for that purpose.

While you may have a point but try not to lose sight on the fact that people give birth for different reasons. Some because they want someone who will look after them at their old age and vulnerable moment and the ones who just want coz the society expect them to among other reasons so if someone in their bid to beat immigration control in their host countries decide to have a child then yeah it’s part of the game. It can become a problem if they renege from their parental responsibility and obligation to that child.

So far as Western countries keeps tightening the noose on immigration and ways of acquiring residency people will adopt desperate means to manoeuvre through the system. I’ve met several people of both sexes who deliberately had babies just to manipulate the immigration system and it’ll keep happening. Whether it’s right or wrong is a different issue and subjective.

Nothing guarantee happiness but achieving some things makes the pursuit for happiness easier. If the issue is about the woman curbing his involvement in Nigeria and his family he has the option of divorcing after getting their permanent residence in 5years. Or what do you reckon someone who’s illegal or about to and doesn’t want to return home do if not the options I stated? You think it’s impossible not to find genuine love within 2years? Mate, there are people here who haven’t had a girlfriend/boyfriend in 5years and it’s very common coz the society is structured in such a way that social life and partner is hard to find. So to your question yes 2years ain’t enough for many and in fact very short to get a partner and it’s even more difficult for new immigrants coz most non-natives will avoid going into a relationship with you with the presumption you just want papers.

When you move to a country and running out of time and visa expiring you by default find yourself in a desperate position to regularise your status. A lot of people were paying £5k and above in contract marriages until that route was unearth and disrupted. If one find genuine love fine but if that’s not forthcoming and clock ticking, love becomes just a word.

I guess you mean by child support. Well yeah I’ll rather have a child and get settled status than live illegally. That was the point.

My visa experience was very smooth, it took just 3days for British embassy Abuja to grant my visa. I came with a family permit under the spousal visa category. Applied Monday and received a message to come collect passport Wednesday. I guess I was lucky or just had the right paperwork.

Family permit valid for 6months and I applied for extension and it took about 5months and got 5years residency. My permanent residence application 5years later took just 6weeks and naturalisation application was about a month.

I live in southeast London, Greenwich to be precise. Can’t say it’s the best borough but I love the “Nigerianess” of it. Life initially was tough but with persistence and determination I was able to pull through. I’m a pharmacist working with the NHS and future looking great. We’ve many Nigerian eatery in the Greenwich borough but I prefer Tasty Woolwich.

My advise for anyone coming to the UK is to remain focused and keep pushing. If you’re coming as a student ensure you complete your course and do all you can to establish a relationship with a Caucasian so you can cement your stay here. Except for those who intend to return to Nigeria after education or whatever visa they came with, getting married or impregnating a native should be your top priority.

Avoid driving if you’re on a low income as it’s more expensive to own a car than using public transport for people in London but outside London owning a car is compulsory coz public transport isn’t as active.

But for time I’ve a lot to say as per the other questions by the OP, may probably stop by again later.

Guys, I just started the process of getting a student visa to study in Poland. My aim is to use my student status to work there even if it's menial job till I finish my studies there and get a permanent residency permit. Now my question is:
1. As a student, will I be able to work in my free time doing menial jobs?
2. I intend paying my second semester school fees upward from the money I get doing those menial jobs? The first semester fee will be paid with the savings I have right now
3. Is it possible to get a resident permit after a year of schooling there because I don't intend coming back to Nigeria after my studies.

Note: All my savings right now will be spent on visa application, school fees etc so I will have nothing or little when I get to poland.

An honest advice even though it’ll be ignored as I can see your mind is made up. Your intention of sponsoring yourself in Poland while schooling won’t materialise. There are no jobs in Poland and the few jobs there are poorly paid. You can’t sponsor yourself while studying and without regular support from family and friends in any country not even the UK or US where jobs are abound. Many have come to the UK with failed hope of sponsoring themselves while studying. Polish are moving to EU countries and Britain in search of greener pastures like Nigerians travel for same reasons. Avoid Poland.

I knew I’d have better prospect abroad than Naija so to cut long story short, I met my wife in a school in Abuja where she was visiting with her two friends, they had visited a primary school to donate some study materials to a school in Garki during a college break. We started talking from then until a year later when she came down to Naija to see me and I proposed and we got married at AMAC registry Abuja few days later and 3months after I moved to Britain to join her. My life has never been thesame again and now a naturalised citizen, obtain a pharmacy degree and never regretted.
