[size=17pt]We must get serious about the environment. It is not enough to just do the construction part of the road without considering how to beautify the entire environment.

Image the powerful aura and ambiance which the beautification of Chime avenue median, left bare in the first picture below could have on the entire Enugu. If they just planted flowers and trees in it like in the next pictures below of other cities.

Sir are those places in Enugu?

The model looks nice, but I'm not sure Abuja needs another stadium. Or will it be a football-specific stadium?

I guess so considering it is a private sector project.

REMINDER!!!
Lagos, Rivers, Anambra
Abia, Kano, Ogun & Abuja control 90% of cash transaction in Nigeria -- Former CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

South East already has a hugh market-There is money my friends. What our governors like Chime should do is to attract more big boys from Anambra and Aba with beautiful High-Rise Apartment. If he construct a fast rail line connecting Enugu, Onitsha and Aba, build 30 high-rise apartment, put it up for sale, i bet they will be sold out even before they are completed.
And Enugu continues to look beautiful and modern

For already existing city like Enugu,Owerri and Akwa, may i suggest a model of faster city development called Land -Swap. This model adopted 3years ago by Abuja is helping a great in infrastruture provision.

According to Businessday online, land swap is an arrangement in which private sector players are given parcels of land in return for the provision of critical infrastructure.

the Land-Swap model, as it applies to the FCT, “means providing infrastructure in exchange for land, thus setting up the implementation thrust of transforming the FCT
by opening up the new districts through construction and completing access to the new districts”.

cjrane:

Bros I bow for you o!
How can you argue for skyscrappers, then post pictures of buildings not exceeding 10 floors? You could very well have showed us Onitsha as what you meant by a clustered skyscrapers city.
You have showed us how Dubai was built from the scratch as a model to emulate, only to start citing Amaechi's rendtion?
So in your mind Amaechi's rendition (Even if they were actually built) and the clustered skyscrapers city you have pursuaded us to follow are the same thing?
So we can assume that Keke Napep and a luxury Mercedes Benz car are exactly the same things because they are known as vehicles?

See what a clustered skyscrapper city you have advocated should look like, not Amaechi's high-rise. I honestly hope you know there is a difference between the two.
Pls show us where i mentioned skyscrapper in all my post on the New city.

Then you have a new city called Centenary City being built in Airport Road, Abuja. The new city will gulp 16 billion dollar and will be 100% funded by private sector. What this means is that Government wont spend a kobo on this project

Me think they say Superstructures can't be built in Nigeria but ordinary Ameachi Rotimi says it can be done.
I wonder how much New York budget was when the city was built over 100years ago.

It wil be a Massive construction site Where everything happens at about the same time. Motivatation and Incentive Drives The Investors
********************************************
The contract between the govt and a particular Investor should be like, if you build the best structure within 5years,you wil be given a free lands plus tax cut.
All projects must start about thesame time and be completed within the time frame.

Hotel Investor who built 15 storey five star Hotel within 4years will get 2 more large lands for free and tax cut.

The investors building the biggest shopping malls gets 2 more land and tax cut.

The ones building 7story superstructure estates get 5 free lands and tax cut

The ones building the best hospitals get 5 free land and a tax cut

The ones building the best parks get 3 free land and tax cut

The ones building the power plant get 3 land for free and tax cut

The guys building big manufacturing companies, get 4 land and tax cut

Decluttering the city
********************************************
* One thing people will notice about most Nigeria towns and cities is how Cluttered they really are, that is, high-rise building, bungalow, dublex, sometimes huts all built on thesame place. This practices make cities look empty, lack skyline, with not- too great view.

The best way to make Cities look full and city-like in appearance is to Cluster buildings with similar height:
High-rise superstructures of more than 30meters should be clustered together. High-rise superstructures of less than 20meters should be clustered on thesame place. Thesame goes with bungalows, dublex and common houses.

Clustering is great cos it makes cities look full, organised, easy to plan and build.

It will be Quicker and Cost the govt less if the Responsibility of Building the City is Shared.
********************************************
Imagine Chime or Willy not spending a dime constructing Lightrails or any kinds of rail in their states. All that is needed getting business people like Peace,Ifesinachi,Ekenedilichukwu, local, diaspora and foregn investors tell them about the new city, your plan, funding method and all. Investors know what is possible. They will definitly invest in a viable projects.
Other investors would invest in Hotels,Malls,RealEstate,Recreation,Hospitals, dams, power, water, Industries etc.

The government probably just have to construct the vast road network and other supporting infrastructure like sewer lines, driange etc

The Dubai approach
********************************************
And what about states where enough Spenders or Consumers needed to drive the proposed Cities are lacking?
The best option would be to Attract Spenders or Consumers from Neibouring states like Anambra, Ebonyi, imo etc and Foreign tourists by offering them unique products and services with fast connecting trains, excellent roads and exotic Airport to travel through.
Wouldn't it be great to have people travel from Imo to Enugu in less than 30minutes just to get some services that are rare in Nigeria and travel back to imo.

How To Build a Great City in Five Years

1. The proposed city must have a life of its own, that is, it must be economically viable and market driven otherwise the city wont be sustainble, may take longer time to complete or end up abandoned.
Sustainability is the main reason why a city must be economically viable.

If Enugu for example wants to build new city in 5year, here are things that should be put into consideration in other to attract investors/developers.

* Market. Place with large population of "spenders" are always considered great market . These Consumers drive businesses and succeful business run succeeful Cities.

Wow! I just learnt something very wonderful right now!
Human nature is actually the same! Emotions of jealousy, anger, envy are all human emotions and not tribe specific.
I say this for those of you who ask for Biafra,

The comment above were borrowed from yoruba warriors a few weeks ago Aigbofa and Ilugun boy.
This tells you it is better to solve the problems with the other tribes in Nigeria instead of running into Biafra. The same problems will follow us there!

In the nation of Biafra, Anambra and Anioma will assume the yorubas role in Nigeria, Enugu and Ebonyi will assume the northerners role while Imo and Abia will naturally assume the role of the south south people. grin grin grin grin grin cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Nigeria's problems are human issues, not really tribe unique.

Bro i wonder o. I was shocked with the kind of attitude being displayed here by fellow igbos. As someone who grew up in North, I never knew such thing exist. Walahi with this kind of attitude i doubt if we can ever be very united. Truth be told this craziness is rampant among we Anambarians( and the delta igbos). I see this even on facebook. This kind of competition is not healthy and shouldnt be encouraged atall. Biko Igbo bu ofu
