I see Innoson going places both outside nigeria and within this country. I think they should consider having showrooms in other African countries like Ghana and Benin. Also the company need to recruit young and vibrant marketers to tell people about product. Apart from Nairaland you can hardly hear of Innoson other places.
Bro, there are so many Beautiful IVM Buses on Abuja roads thesedays. Most are usually government owned and are White in colour.

Comparing the first two pictures of Hotel Presidential below to the last two pictures of Hotel des mille collines, You can easily see from the pictures that to upgrade Presidential hotel to look like Hotel des mille collines will not be hard for those in the hotel business who know what is needed.

Perhaps, the only slightly difficult step will be the physical renovation and re-painting of the edifice. Especially to change the old design iron-bar balcony railings into a glass railings as they did with Hotel des mille collines in the picture to give it a modern 21st century look.Actually, the best approach would be to install new rug in the entire hotel and discard most of the antique furniture after the re-painting is completed.

The State government simply isn't into hotel business and just cannot do this. It is better to sell this iconic hotel to an international hotel group to do the magic transformation required or for government to complete the renovation and hold only 40% share in order to allow hotel management experts to manage the new hotel as a business to prevent it's rundown again.

I was loving this post until i saw this:
"It is better to sell this iconic hotel to an international hotel group"

International investor should build new projects rather than buying already made stuff cheaply from govt.

I have no doubt in my mind that great Enugu or Southeast investors can tranform this building into world class hotel...These guys arent that difficult to locate. I really like the daring nature of Tony Elumelu who is currently building lots of wonderful projects in Northern Nigeria and constructing the best hotel in Portharcourt . We could really learn lots from OBJ on how to nuture our local investors.

Nice pic! I just love the concentration of tall buildings in Onitsha. The structures are already in place; they may look a little old, doesn't matter. If you look at pictures below with similar setting but in a western country; you will notice that the buildings are equally old. What is important now is our streets are updated to modern standards with....well paved road, dark street lights ( great for non-major road like this), road markings, street signs, cover those medieval open drainage system that take space for nothing and create side walks off of it....you will be surprised by how much the street width will be increased...more roomy. One-way street is another possibility...Bida road which continues as Johnson St. as Southbound and Iweka Road as Northbound...both Roads are parallel to each other and works out well. This arrangement will help to create four-lane road with minimum width, the extreme lanes will serve as parallel parking and the two middle lanes will be high-traffic lanes...this arrangement is seen below. For development, the ground floors of these buildings can serve as restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacy, bars, bistro, basically anything that will create a well-planned community and great night life. The top floors will serve as residential apartments. This is how modern city planning is done today in most countries. The old patios should be replaced with modern patios...these modern patios you see below with green or black canopies are actually cheaper than the welded gate ones you see in the first picture...Bida Road in Onitsha.

Gov. Obiano is on the right track...I saw pictures of Iweka Onitsha this morning and I couldn't believe it. I'm very impressed. I see they are also painting the Niger bridge truss system...these are the type of maintenance culture that we need! Kudos to him! All he needs to do is update most Anambra infrastructure and our streets to international standards and leave the development to individuals. Anambra people have money like water...largest concentration of millionaires in Nigeria are from Anambra. We are getting there!

First pic...Bida Road, Onitsha. I'm impressed by the tall structures but the infrastructure and street needs to be updated to pics below!
Second pic...similar street like Bida, same old structures but well planned...paved road, street lights, road markings in a western country.
Third pic....another street like Bida however well planned in a western country.
Fourth pic...modern green canopies on patios...give the street a beautiful look.
Lovely idea

May i suggest a Secret Brotherhood of Patriots from SouthEast who will direct the developmemt and advancement of the Igbos society and Black race.
1) The Secret group should be made of Elders, Engineers,Scientists,Military men,Billionires, Politicians,Philosophers,Gurus etc.
2) They must be extremely passionate about the Igbos.
3) They must be Progressive in thinking
4) They must be perfectionists
5) The agenda is to build a First Class igbo society
6) The Agenda must be about leading not just copying the world
7) Other Agenda Must be the Stealing of superior Technology Secret from countries, for competetive reasons.
8. They shall Recruit the Best Talents i call "The Top Geniuses". A special fund will be created to take care of The salaries and welfare of these genius.
This is How they should go about recruiting these people: The recruits are of 2 GROUPS...
*THE FORMAL GROUP:
a) Made up of the best graduates in Math,Physics, chemistry, nanotech, engineering one can find in SE and Nigeria.
b) Best known Lecturals /coach one can find in SE and Nigeria, the lecturals for example must be best and vast in their fields such as in Nanotech,Physics,Chemistry, Structural Engineering,Maths etc. They should be able to guide the INFORMAL GROUP and the graduates

INFORMAL GROUP:
* Made up of the most talented technicians one can find in SE and Nigeria, such as... Fabricators,Mechanics,Welders,Eletronic repairers, Vulcanizers etc

I will write in detail about the Top Geniuses Next week

CONTINUED...
Assembling great minds for specific purposes would be counter productive unless you have Versatile Team Leaders (should come from the Formal Group) to lead the Team(Both Formal & Informal group).
Most Bright people tend to be passive or not adventerous. Gathering them together to create the next big thing or develop a hybrid space rocket for example,is like gathering exotic car parts to assemble itsself.
The "Versatile team leaders" should be able identify a given talent in each member of his team, fit it in his or her field (let say the field is car engines or carburators production) get him specialise in it, improve and refine his product.
A gifted carburator maker should not only make great carburators but also unique ones, because, believe it or not, there are thousands of unknown ways to cook a meal, refine petroleum make flying machine or stuff like that. So,your carburator must not look exactly like BMW carburators-
Thank God for the Versatile team leader whose job will also be to ensure dynamism in his team.

{THIS MODEL CAN BE REPLICATED IN OTHER FIELD LIKE JUDITIARY, CIVIL SERVICE,SPACE RESEARCH,MILITARY,EVEN PRIVATE BUSINESSES.. ETC}..E.g The Military will have the best graduate in military courses, best known military coaches, gifted soldiers (the INFORMAL GROUP)
& Versatile Team military Leaders. Same goes for the Juditiary, Civil Service,e.t.c

So Here are the Qualities Versatile Team Leaders MUST possess.
1. He must be a Futurist
2.His Willpower must be impregnable
3.He must be adventrous and Open minded
4. He must have a mind of an enterpreur
6. Must be Radical progressive.
7.His team must constantly make New and Improved product
8. He must be consistent
9. His team must be innovating constantly
10. Must have the ability to put together something irresistable, competitive and durable.
11. He must not neccesarly have the best accademic qualification

NOTE that this piece is still about the Underground patriots(The Secret Brotherhood).
All you need to know about them:
*They are usually reserved for sensetive government project.
*Their major goal is to build Progressive and First class society for the citizens of SouthEast
*They act as the last resort if
everything else fails.
* They act as guardians of every citizen of Southest.
*They help grow and establish some of the Top private companies and Establishment in SouthEast

ADOPTING THE ECONOMICS OF SUCCESSFUL SOCIETY.

To avoid making this part boring, i will make it short & simple...

So are the Advanced society so developed?
Answer: They turn virtually everything into business!! In other word, they are deeply enmeshed in capitalism and the reason being that Capitalism is self-sustaining.
There is hardly any free thing in advanced world, even the so called Welfare scheme is funded with taxes.

Their Grand Philosophy is
"If We Must Build, we must Turn It Into Profitable Business or Create A Sustainable Source For Funding It"...
"OTHERWISE LET THE PRIVATE SECTOR TAKE CARE OF THAT."
These phylosophy is seen everywhere such as thier Roads, Parks,Trains,Stadia,Education, Science and Tech.
The Beautiful things about Capitalist model is that government makes tons of money from these sea of companies. The country becomes very rich enventually and there is enough to go around in terms of Infrastrure, Welfare and Improved standard of living.

FINALLY,

How To FUND The Top
Geniuses: funding should come from government & private donation. I recommend they start with 30billion naira per year, though not enough for effectivness and somewhat too small for a project of this size,it still better than nothing.

FUNDING Private Businesses : If you wish to go into Battery production for example,be sure to have a reasonable amount of fund and the right team. Successfully producing great batteries will attract more fund from Banks & private people.

Wondering if Synthetic Grass should be adopted by Enugu and other SouthEast Governors in Beautifing important spots in our Cities. So we don't have worry too much about maintainance and harmattan

I read somewhere it would cost about N100million to cover an area the size of Enugu stadium with synthetic grass.

The pix below is a road with synthetic grasses.

shocked shocked SPYDER 1st POST ON THIS THREAD

spyder880:
I love this state, and the towns that make up the state. I dont know if I will ever like to live anywhere else but Enugu, the way of life of the citizens of Enugu seems to be the best in the country.

Enugu people are very accomodating, hardworking and yet humble. We have everything here and yes, Enugu is working.

In this thread, I will try to change the perception of people about how bad or negative Nigeria is, lets start from where we are. I expect everyone to do something, lets stop the negativity for a while and focus on our positives. There are more good things in Nigeria than bad. You only need to look for it and see it.

I will flood this thread with so many pictures that people will complain, I have about 150 pictures loaded (more will be added this new week), I am ready to paste them here but I will post those in the evening, many towns were covered, many of our landmarks are here. The good, the moderately good and the terrible.

But let me just be posting and typing words for now, explaining some facts about Enugu.

You've come a long way cool grin

"Civilization started in Egypt"

Blackmen actually started Egyptian civilization, if in doubt Google "List of Egyptian Pharoahs" click on the Wikipedia article,70% of pictures there(from the 1st dynasty down) are Negros. They current inhabitants of Egypt do not in anyway resemble ancient Egyptians.

It was initially proposed but considering that there was virtually no good road in Enugu metropolis then, the idea was jettisoned and the money plowed into massive rehabilitation of roads. I liked the idea because the cost of building it was prohibitive and mono-rail has loads of problems associated with it as it requires constant power supply to run. It is always a big problem when it breaks down. Building mono rail in a city without good roads makes no sense. I think that was the best decision taken by Sullivan.

Walahi, this is annoying excuse. A state like ogun is constructing a monorail why not a great city like Enugu.

Red clay soil is common

Treating people responsibly must be a conscious effort by all igbos. It has been proven to have ripple effect in all facet of the society.

There are portions of Abakpa in the video (from 05:00 to the end of the youtube vid) that are actually ok. Just plant flowers, contrut new roads, ban people from trading in their homes, ban street trading, build mini markets and corner shops in every street and you have a standerd estate anyone can be proud of.

Meanwhile here is a video of the real Enugu. I am proud of this City grin grin

The aim was to show how the empty median of the first picture at Chime avenue,Enugu can be appropriately transformed with trees and flowers as in the median of the later pictures.

I love the 3rd and Last ones.
I have lots of roads in my Enugu city collections that are better than all of them except the Last one.
In my opinion Abuja,Calabar,Enugu and Akwa ibom have some of the most beautiful roads in the country.
