Key Duties/Job Description
You will welcome visitors and take calls in a warm and professional manner. You will appreciate the importance of reception and the significance of being at the forefront of a successful business. You will ensure smooth and efficient running of the office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accommodate visitors, clients and direct clients to relevant departments
• Coordinate meetings and appointments
• Record, file and track all outgoing and incoming courier and sort mail
• Manage all matters pertaining to reception/office appearance and utilities
• Maintain database of suppliers and service providers
• Maintain inventory of office stationery
• Assist Office Manager
• Record all incoming invoice when necessary, and forward to Finance Department in a timely fashion
• Assist with administrative tasks and provide research and administrative support to all departments and individuals, where necessary
• Assisting with catered breakfast or lunch meetings including set up and clean up
• Compiling information from various sources and utilizes the information for uses such as generating reports.
• Auditing and maintaining various reports and outgoing letters by checking for errors, inconsistencies, or discrepancies; makes corrections and notifies appropriate personnel of any modifications.
• Updating and maintaining pertinent business information.
• Drafting and typing correspondence and/or presentations to be sent to internal and/or external contacts.
• Assisting with a variety of scheduled and unscheduled projects at any given time within the entities.

• Assisting and supporting management in preparing for meetings.
• Maintaining and promoting a positive and professional working relationship.
• Ad hoc duties as required
Requirements
HND/B.A
Essential Skills:
• Excellent communication and telephone skills (fluent, spoken and written English)
• Good computer skills – efficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Administration skills

Key Characteristics:
• Friendly personality – approachable, outgoing, assertive
•Good organisational skills: ability to priorities, follow up and multi-task
• Flexible and resourceful at problem-solving
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Industrial chemistry is a good course and yeah, you can further your education with an MSc in chemical engineering. They are both similar courses, however chemical engineering is wider as it covers almost every aspect of industrial chemistry and some aspects of mechanical engineering.

There is usually some bias for chemical engineering in the industry over industrial chemistry. So if you are yet to enroll, then stick to chemical engineering.

No! Does not.

If you wanna go for chemical engineering, then start from 100 level. Changing is not as easy as you think. Don't get stuck with a course you don't want.

Yes, there will be. chemical engineering is versatile even outside the oil field. You can work in food and beverages, manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, even in IT, etc.

But go for mechanical engineering. It is the most versatile engineering. A mechanical engineering graduate can handle almost every job a chemical engineer can handle in most industries but there are so many roles a mechanical engineer can handle that a chemical engineer will never be considered for.

Make sure you finish with first class or at least a 2.1.

I have never for once gave Mech Engine a thought. I just like Chem Engine

I was even thinking of doing Geology then switch over to chemical Engineering in 200 level

Chemical engineering is good.

Aside the oil industry (exploration and Production) they work in Breweries, Paint industry, Petrochemicals, Refineries, and co.

However you have to work very hard and graduate with a good grade. By good grade I mean a minimum of 2nd Class Upper.

It makes job hunting easier even without an M.Sc.

Is there any correlation between Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry?
Is the latter very much good as Chem Engine and can one do MSc in Chem Engine or any Engineering related field using Industrial Chemistry BSc?
