13. Teardrop Tattoo Teardrop tattoo is one of the widely recognized tattoos across the world. The tattoo is placed underneath the eye. The tattoo can mean different things to different people based on their location and culture. It can mean that the wearer has killed someone or has spent time in prison. It signifies that the wearer was raped in prison or acknowledges the loss of a family or a gang member. Sometimes the teardrop is empty, suggesting an attempted murder or the wearer is seeking revenge. US rappers The Game and Lil Wayne have teardrop tattoo mourning the loss of their friend. 14. The Cobweb The spider web tattoo is a coded tattoo with multiple meanings. The spider web means that the wearer has done time (in prison). The design is most often found in the elbow. But the tattoo can be placed anywhere. The design symbolically suggests being caught by law (just like the spider that catches its prey and imprisons it). The tattoo also stands for struggle – overcoming drug addiction, getting out of gang etc. 15. 1448 The number 1488 is a tattoo with layered significance. They are usually used by White supremacists. Sometimes just 14 or 88 are used. On the surface, it’s just a plain number but once you probe within, the meaning becomes clear. The number 14 represents 14 words of David Lane to the white supremacists. David Lane had said,”We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White Children”. The 8 is the shorthand for the letter ‘H’ repeated twice. HH stands for ‘Heil Hitler’. Cc: lalasticlala Source: imgur

9. The Clock With No Hands The clock with no hands is a subtle tattoo indirectly suggesting that the inmate is in for a long haul. Prison inmates who are looking at a long sentence do not want to be reminded of the passing time. They view the passage of time in a different perspective, for them, there is no meaning in counting the days or hours. So, they embed a tattoo of a clock with no hands. The clock tattoo has several variations. They may be the face of a wall clock or a grandfather clock. They may even be a wristwatch tattoo with straps and all. Clock tattoo is quite popular, always look to see whether they have hands to ascertain the real status of the wearer. 10. Five Dots The five dots tattoo is generally found on the outer surface of the hand, between the thumb and forefinger. The five dots are sometimes known as quincunx and stands for the time done in prison. This is an international tattoo, common among European and American prisoners. The four dots on the outside symbolically mean the four walls of the prison and the dot in the center stands for the inmate. However, five dots on other parts of the body signifies that the individual is associated with People Nation Gang (a Chicago-based gang). Interestingly, the famous scientist Thomas Edison had this pattern tattooed on his arm. 11. Three Dots The three dots does not necessarily mean that the member is affiliated, it is a universal tattoo hinting that the member has/had a gangster lifestyle. The three dots represent “Mi Vida Loca” which means my crazy life. It is usually found near the eyes or on the hands. This tattoo can be obtained by using the basic tool like a pencil or a sewing needle or any sharp objects. Most often inmates do it themselves using whatever sharp objects are available at that moment. 12. The Five-Point Crown The crown tattoo may look stylish and elegant on the wearer but it is a prison tattoo. The five points of the crown are the symbol of the Latin Kings gang. The Latin Kings gang originated in 1940’s and are one of the biggest Hispanic gang both in and out of the prison. The five points in the crown indicate their affiliation towards the People Nation Gang, which is represented by number 5. The crown tattoo is most often accompanied by the letters ALKN which means Almighty Latin Kings Nation!

Some Norteno’s will tattoo themselves with four dots. 8. Aryan Brotherhood The Aryan Brotherhood is a white supremacist prison gang that originated in 1967 in the San Quentin prison in California. The gang formed as a protective shield against the attacks of Mexican and Black inmates. They are known as Alice Baker, AB, and The Brand. According to FBI, the gang makes less than 0.1% of the prison population but are responsible for 30% of the murders in the federal system. Shows like ‘Prison break’ and “Orange is the new black” has generated a fascination for the tattoos. These prison tattoos are no more the domain of the incarcerated members, even the regular plebeians have started using them without being aware of their significance. Here we bring you 15 of the wildly popular prison tattoos and the significant meaning behind each one of them. 1. A.C.A.B A.C.A.B stands for All Cops Are Bastards. This is commonly found inked on the bodies of the British prisoners. The acronym was seen by a Newcastle journalist on the walls of a prison wall in 1970’s. The 4-Skins, a British punk band popularized the acronym with their song of the same name in 1980’s. The acronym is commonly rendered one letter per finger. Some claim that this acronym stands for Always Carry A Bible, this may be the people who may be regretting their previous lives or those who are reforming or reformed. 2. Cross on the Chest During the 20th century, there was a system of the tattoo being used to identify and differentiate a person’s criminal position and career within the Russian prison and criminal communities. In the Russian Tattoo hierarchy, a Cross on the chest signifies a ‘Prince of Thieves’, the highest rank among the criminal community. This is usually seen adorning the higher-ups in the mob. A spider with face down suggests that the person has left his criminal past behind. Skull indicates a murderer. Stars imply authority, if inked on shoulders or knees, it means, ‘I bow to no one’. A tattoo of an eagle represents a senior authority figure, but if the eagle is carrying something, then it denotes a rapist. 3. EWMN (Evil, Wicked, Mean,Nasty) EWMN is not a code word but stands for ‘Evil, Wicked, Mean, Nasty.’ They do not indicate any allegiance to gangs both within or outside the prison. It simply denotes a person’s disposition. The tattoo is generally inked on their knuckles. The knuckle tattoos became popular after the release of the movie, ‘The Night of The Hunter’ in 1955. The movie featured a sociopath preacher with ‘love/hate’ tattooed on his knuckles. Criminals naturally loved it and took to inking it on themselves. Today there are several variations such as ‘rock/roll’, ‘stay/down.’ 4. Playing Cards Playing card tattoos are the favorites of gamblers who love to play poker. Usually playing cards or suits of the deck such as hearts, clover, spade, and diamonds are inked. This tattoo generally signifies a gambler or someone who thinks life is a gamble. This tattoo is quite popular among the Russian prisoners where each suit of the deck holds a different meaning. A Club indicates criminal, Spade denotes a thief, Diamond is reserved for stool pigeons and informants, Usually, this is forcibly inked on the unwilling participants. A Heart is worn by someone looking for a romantic partner, usually within a prison. Again, this is sometimes forcibly inked on an unwilling participant. Mynd44

There’s really no better feeling than being able to plug in your headphones and shut out the world. Headphones make long commutes less lonely, they provide relief from uninspiring conversation and probably make going to the gym suck a little less. It’s safe to say that headphones have acquired ‘Prized Possession’ status and they’re a very, very important part of life. So, music lovers, pay attention – a Florida-based tech startup, Nervana, has just upped the headphone game. At the recently held Las Vegas Consumers Electronics Show, the company unveiled the Nervana headphones that promise to get you high off of the music – both legally and literally. While that seems like a tall order, the science behind these mood-enhancing headphones is actually pretty simple. The headphones are paired with a device called the generator which receives audio from your music device, generates electrical pulses that match the beat of the music, and sends the music and pulses to the headphones. These pulses then trigger the vagus nerve, via the inner ear canal, thereby prompting the release of feel-good hormones like dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin. Dopamine is usually released in response to sex, exercise or smoking weed and leaves you with happy thoughts and good vibes! Another cool feature of these headphones is the generator’s Ambient Mode. The generator has the power to analyze the sounds of your immediate environment and match the nerve simulation to it for a modified experience each time. This means that you could plug these in at a music concert and actually get high to the music, which basically changes everything. How are these legal? The nerve-stimulating headphones have been positioned as a lifestyle and wellness device, like the FitBit, and don’t need FDA approval. The only real roadblock on your path to Nervana is its price as the headphones will set you back by a cool $299. However, if that seems like a price you’d like to pay, the headphones has been up for pre-order since March and will be shipped starting late spring. The company doesn’t want you to Nervana and drive at the same time, though. Nervana CEO Ami Brannon clarified that while there is no impairment to brain function, the official advice is to avoid driving for 30 minutes after use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpFbPHwFL1s Here’s what a happy tester had to say about the headphones at the CES: “I felt the electricity go into my arm, and everything was tingling there, but the best moment for me was afterwards when I finished and stood up. I felt like I reached a personal high point. I couldn’t stop smiling or laughing. I was like, ‘Oh wow.’ For about five minutes, my happiness level was a 10 out of 10. Then it got foggier, but I was still unusually happy for about an hour." Sounds good, you guys. Mynd44 , Lalasticlala what do think?

A man, Richard Overton, who served in World war II as a corporal lives in Austin, Texas at the age of 110 years. His daily routine includes morning coffee with a splash of Whiskey and 12 cigars a day. Along with this, fried catfish and butter pecan ice cream is his steady diet. The only medicine he takes is Aspirin. However, he is thin, fit, and active even at the age of 110. Also, he is the oldest war veteran. Richard Arvine Overton served in the 1887th Engineer Aviation Battalion in World War II. He was a corporal and served in Guam, Hawaii, and Iwo Jima. Three years later, he left the army. At that time, he was in his thirties. After leaving the army, he bought a home in Austin, Texas for $4000 and still lives there. Later, he sold furniture and worked for state Treasurer’s office. He married twice but doesn’t have any children. His daily routine is nothing short of unconventional. He starts his day by having a cup of morning coffee spiked with whiskey. This is followed up with 12 Tampa sweet cigars per day, but he doesn’t inhale. For the daily diet, fried catfish and pecan butter ice cream is his choice almost every day. Sometimes, he mixes whiskey with soda water in the evenings too. Every day, Overton makes sure to have some milk. Also, he has never taken any medicine other than Aspirin. He keeps himself active by working in the yard or cleaning the driveway. The man is fond of neither Television nor wars. What is shocking is that he is the physically lean and active oldest war veteran at the age of 110. Still, he is very strong despite his unconventional dietary choices. Moreover, he can walk without a can and drives his own car. There’s a short documentary upon him called Mr. Overton, in which he talks about his daily routine, his secret of longevity and military services. Check below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYc5XNfnYNs Overton has a celebrity status for being the oldest war veteran. Also, people love him for his love of cigars and whiskey. Both President Obama and Texas Governor Rick Perry have met and praised him for his military involvement. Sitting on the porch and surrounded by people asking for photos, Overton enjoys every bit of attention that comes with being the oldest war veteran. Overton met with Texas Governor Rick Perry on Memorial Day in 2013. Later, he was invited to the White House and met with President Obama. Obama also praised him on Veterans day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Talk about seeing and doing it all... Old Soldier never dies.. Cc: Mynd44 , Lalasticlala

5. Vertical Bath is for those who love the feel of a long soak but don’t have enough space in the bathroom for a normal tub. Developed by Dr. Nisan Aptal from Bathstore, the Vertical Bath seeks to solve the problem many homeowners with limited bathroom space face. The bath occupies the same amount of space as a typical shower and instead of water coming from above, it is filled with warm water from the bottom. It has a temperature and a flow dial that controls water flow. Once the bath is filled up to the level you want you can turn the supply off and enjoy the bath. Pressing the Quick Drain button drains the bath once you are done. 6. A toilet paper holder that also has two stands for a wine glass and beer can. Even the toilet is not exempt from “his and hers” disputes. A 3D printing Etsy shop known as SOLIDink3d has designed a 3D printed “His and Hers Toilet Paper Holder for Beverages” so that women can have their wine glasses and men their beer cans while pooping. 7. Pop-out outlets for minimalists and homes that need childproofing. If you are bothered by the number of power outlets on your walls, but can’t escape their necessity, then these pop-out outlets are what you need. Made by Legrand, these outlets can be pushed back into the wall when not necessary and another push will bring them out. With the sockets gone into the wall, all you will be left with is an aesthetically pleasing square that would double as a decorative piece. 8. Footrest/under-the-desk hammock to relax your feet at work. The hammock can be fixed to hang under your desk at different heights depending on the mood you are in and the comfort level you need. You can lower it down if you are in a slacking mood or raise it up if you are in a working mood. The hammock comes with two clamps with which you can secure the hanging ropes to the edges of your table. Cc: Mynd44

As they say, little things do matter in life. It doesn’t matter if it is a simple household object or some elaborate outdoor equipment, there are things that we dream of to make our life much more interesting and entertaining like the transparent bubble tent that is shown below that lets you see everything around you when you go camping, or the vertical bathtub if you are short of space etc. Check out for yourself. 1. A Japanese company has released a creamy spreadable coffee that you can spread on your morning toast. The product was released by a Japanese company known as Snow Brand Milk on March 1, 2017, to celebrate its 55th anniversary. The spread is like Nutella to people who love coffee. The company has previously released another product in 2015 known as Edible Snow Brand Coffee, which is like the pudding with a creamy topping, coffee in the middle and caramel sauce at the bottom. 2. This chandelier which is known as “Forms of Nature” casts shadows that turn your room into a wild forest. The chandelier was created by Thyra Hilden and Pio Diaz to “recreate the feeling of being surrounded by mysterious nature”. Each chandelier sculpture takes eight hours of assembly of 3D printed pieces. The piece was inspired by the German painter Casper David Friedrich’s depiction of the man in the wild and the German naturalist Ernst Haeckel’s plant and animal drawings. Each piece is engraved and even comes with an authenticity certificate. 3. An inflatable see-through tent that lets the campers enjoy the view. Called the CristalBubble, the transparent bubble tent was the idea of the French designer Pierre Stephane Dumas. A standard CristalBubble is 13 feet in diameter and made of reinforced plastic giving a completely transparent 360-degree view of the surroundings. It has a built-in blower to supply the necessary amount of air to both maintain the shape and provide fresh air and an integrated filter which keeps out mosquitoes, moisture, and dust. Additional facilities such as modular wooden floor are also available. 4. An ingenious portable outdoor toilet that can be attached to your car’s bumper. If you love camping outdoors for more than a day but don’t want to miss the comfort of having a proper toilet, then you are going to need a portable one, and Bumper Dumper is just the thing. It comes with a frame for 2×2 hitch receiver and a toilet seat, and can also be used as a standalone unit. It can even be used in disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, and any other situations in which sanitation might be compromised.

The biggest maritime disaster in History was not Titanic but a ship called “Wilhelm Gustloff ” that sank and killed 9,343 people. The sinking of “Wilhelm Gustloff ” has been considered as the biggest maritime catastrophe of all time- even surpassing the combined calamities of Titanic (which sank taking more than 1,500 people with it after hitting an iceberg) and Lusitania (which sank with 1,119 people after getting hit by a German torpedo). We have often heard and even seen (through movies, of course) the magnitude of “Titanic” and the greatest tragedy (as it has frequently been put) associated with it. However, if one digs into the metaphorical “graves” of history, one would realize the sheer magnitude of the devastation that was represented by the German ship. “Wilhelm Gustloff ” was named after the assasinated leader of the Swiss Nazi Party. The colossal ship measured 25,000 tons in weight and almost 700 feet in length with a carrying capacity of 2,000 people. In its initial days, the ship was used as a luxury cruise liner for the German workers of Hitler’s Third Reich, and, until the outbreak of the Second World War, had sailed over fifty cruises. In 1941, when Hitler launched “Operation Barbarossa” against the Soviet Union, the German army had reached deep into the Soviet Union’s territory until Stalin turned the tables and by October 1944, the Soviet Union’s Red Army had fought the Germans out of the Soviet Union and entered East Prussia. Fearing the approaching Red Army, the German civilians in East Prussia fled to Baltic ports and “Wilhelm Gustloff “, besides other ships, was pressed into action to evacuate the millions of Germans-civilians and military personnel alike. Against a specified load of 2,000 passengers, 10,582 people (Germans, Prussians, Lithuanians, Latvians, Poles, Estonians and Croatians) had been crammed onto the ship by draining out the swimming pools and throwing off all the available furniture on the ship. To make matters worse, only one torpedo boat accompanied the ship because of the three designated military escorts, two broke down. Little did the people know that a Soviet submarine was tracking the ship’s movement and within an hour of its journey, the ship was bombarded by three Russian torpedos, each hitting its target. Scenes of pandemonium erupted as people jumped outside in water. The temperature outside was minus 18 degrees celsius (-0.4 °F) and also because of this severely cold weather, several life-boats were frozen to the deck. Children drowned in life-jackets that were too big for them while some people were trapped below decks whereas the others were crushed in the stairways. Only very few, 1,252 to be precise, made it off the steamer alive out of the 10,582 people aboard. An estimated 9,343 people died, half of them children – six times the 1,517 that died on the Titanic in 1912. Co-incidentally, almost like a cruel irony, it was the birthday of Wilhelm Gustloff, born 30 January 1895 while the ship sank on 30 January 1945. The following reasons have been put forward on why this disaster has not gathered much attention from the world: 1: The incident involved German people and post world war 2, not a lot of people were sympathizing with Germany. 2: There was a subdued reaction to a disaster of this magnitude since people realized the establishment of Nazi death camps and the naming of the ship after a Nazi leader did not help the matter. 3: In another comparison to Titanic, historians argue that since there weren’t a lot of rich people on the ship, this tragedy failed to grab enough headlines. In the late 60’s under Soviet supervision, two divers had been sent into the sea to find out if the Germans had tried to use the refugee ship to evacuate the treasure. Although some things were retrieved but they were never disclosed to the public or to the media. Cc: Lalasticlala https://www.unbelievable-facts.com/2016/02/wilhelm-gustloff.html

15. Mas Oyama, a karate master, would fight live bulls with his bare hands during his martial arts demonstrations. Occasionally, he would kill them with a single blow, earning him the nickname “Godhand.” Mas Oyama was a Korean karate master who spent most of his life in Japan and founded the Kyokushin Karate. Along with his karate skills, Mas Oyama was also known for fighting bulls bare-handed. He used to give a public demonstration of bull-fighting and had battled 52 bulls in his lifetime. Out of the 52, he had killed 3 bulls instantly with just one strike. This seemingly impossible act earned him the name “Godhand”.

12. In Japan, a man who calls himself a modern-day samurai warrior can slice a speeding bullet in half. His seemingly superhuman feat has been videotaped, and the camera had to slow down by 250 times for viewers to watch the movement of his sword. Japanese laido master Isao Machii can move his sword so fast that he can cut a speeding bullet in half. For normal people, it is impossible to even view a bullet fired from a gun. But laido master Isao Machii can not only watch the bullet shot from a pistol, but he can also cut the bullet in half mid-air. His sword movement is so fast that it is impossible for a normal human eye to catch the act. So, he was filmed at a firing range outside Los Angles with a special camera. The film was then slowed down 20 times for the viewers to watch the act. Isao Machii also holds many Guinness World Records for his katana skills. Some of them are “Most martial arts katana cuts to one mat (suegiri)”, “Fastest 1,000 martial arts sword cuts”, “Most sword cuts to straw mats in three minutes” and “Fastest tennis ball (820 km/h) cut by sword”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzhs1Z8Rwnk |
11. Stig Severinsen is a Danish freediver who holds a Guinness World Record for holding his breath for 22 minutes. He is also a four-time world freediving champion. While normally people start gasping for air within a few minutes of diving under the water, Danish freediver Stig Severinsen can hold his breath for 22 minutes under the water. Severinsen started swimming at the age of 6. He became National Champion four times in a row at the age of 9,10,11, and 12. While studying in Barcelona, he played underwater hockey on the Spanish National Team. His amazing feats are: Severinsen achieved Guinness World record in March 2010 when he swam 236 feet under ice, wearing only swimming trunks and goggles. In April 2010, he inhaled pure oxygen and then, held his breath for 20 minutes 10 seconds in a tank full of sharks at the Kattegat Centre in Grenaa. He created Guinness World Record in May 2012 by holding his breath for 22 minutes in a tank filled with water cooled to 30F. In April 2013, he set two new world records. One for “longest swim underwater – breathe held” when he swam 500 feet in 2 minutes and 11 seconds while wearing a wet suit and monofin. Another one for 250 feet wearing only swimming trunks. He also holds four AIDA freediving world records.

10. “The Iceman” is the nickname of a daredevil adventurer, Wim Hof, who has the ability to withstand extremely cold temperatures. He had even climbed to 67 kilometers altitude at Mount Everest wearing nothing but shorts and shoes. Remember the time when your mom used to cover you from head to toes in winter so that you won’t suffer from the cold? Even when we grow up, we cover our body in warm clothes before stepping out in the chilly winter winds. But surprisingly, a Dutch man, Wim Hof, requires no such protection from cold. He has this incredible ability to withstand extremely cold temperatures due to which he earned him the nickname “The Iceman”. Wim Hof credits this superhuman ability to exposure to cold, meditation, and a breathing technique similar to Tibetian technique Tummo. He even scaled up to 67 kilometers altitude of Mount Everest wearing nothing but shorts and shoes. He couldn’t reach the top due to a recurring foot injury. His other feats include: 2008: Hof created Guinness World Records by staying immersed in ice for 1 hour, 13 minutes and 48 seconds. 2009: In February, Hof reached the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in two days wearing just his shorts. In the same year, he completed a full marathon of 42.195 kilometers above the arctic circle in Finland. He finished in 5 hours 25 minutes wearing nothing but shorts. 2010: Hof broke the ice endurance record by staying immersed in ice for 1 hour 44 minutes. 2011: He again broke ice endurance record by staying immersed in ice for 1 hour 52 minutes and 42 seconds. In September he ran a full marathon in the Namib Desert without water.

9. Blinded at the age of 13 months, a man named Daniel Kish taught himself to see the world around him with bat-like echolocation. He has trained himself to hear the echo of a sharp click produced with his tongue and then interpret their meaning. Daniel Kish was born with a form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. To save his life, doctors removed both his eyeballs just when he was 13 months old. Daniel started using the technique of echolocation at the age of two. He says that clicking the tongue for echolocation came instinctively to him. Using this technique, he can detect buildings 1000 feet away, a tree 30 feet away, and a person six feet away. He can even echolocate a one-inch diameter pole nearby or a golf ball. Also, he can differentiate objects by using this technique. He can easily tell the difference between a pickup truck, a passenger car, and an SUV. Daniel Kish is now the President of World Access for the Blind (WAFTB), which is a nonprofit organization founded by him in 2000. With the help of his organization, he had taught echolocation to at least 500 blind children around the world.
