Infinix Smart 5A was launched in India on Monday as a new model in the company's Smart 5 series, after the original Infinix Smart 5. The new Infinix phone comes with dual rear cameras and a waterdrop-style display notch. The Infinix Smart 5A also carries dual selfie flash and runs on Android 11 (Go edition) with a custom skin on top. Infinix has partnered with Reliance Jio to bundle additional benefits with the Smart 5A and make it effectively under the Rs. 6,000 price bracket. The Infinix Smart 5A competes against the likes of the Redmi 9A and Realme C11 (2021).

Infinix Smart 5A price in India, launch offers
Infinix Smart 5A price in India has been set at Rs. 6,499 (Appr. NGN 37,000) for the lone 2GB RAM + 32GB storage variant. The phone will be available for purchase through Flipkart starting August 9 in Midnight Black, Ocean Wave, and Quetzal Cyan.

Launch offers on the Infinix Smart 5A include ‘upfront price support' of Rs. 550 that is claimed to be credited directly into the user's bank account upon their purchase of the phone and additional benefits worth Rs. 1,199. Customers need to use a Jio connection as their primary SIM on the phone to avail the benefits.

Infinix Smart 5A specifications
The dual-SIM (Nano) Infinix Smart 5A runs on XOS 7.6 based on Android 11 (Go edition) and features a 6.52-inch HD+ (720x1,560 pixels) display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio A20 SoC, along with 2GB of RAM. It comes with a triple rear camera setup that houses an 8-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.0 lens and an AI (depth) secondary camera. The rear camera setup is paired with a dual LED flash and supports features such as Auto Scene Detection, Custom Bokeh, and AI HDR, as well as full-HD (1080p) video recording.

For selfies and video chats, the Infinix Smart 5A comes with an 8-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front, with an f/2.0 lens. The front-facing camera is also paired with dual-LED flash.

The Infinix Smart 5A includes 32GB of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB) through a dedicated slot. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light, and a proximity sensor. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Other highlights include a 5,000mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 33 hours of talktime on a single charge and DTS Surround Sound. Besides, the Infinix Smart 5A measures 165.5x76.4x8.75mm and weighs 183 grams.

The Tecno Pova 2 was unveiled in the Philippines today – a self-proclaimed budget gaming phone with a PHP 8,000 price tag ($167/€137) and a massive 7,000 mAh battery. That’s 1,000 mAh more than the original Pova, but the upgrades don't end there.

For starters, the large 6.9” screen has 1080p+ resolution (20.5:9), a major upgrade over the 6.8” 720p+ screen of its predecessor. Also, the touch sampling rate is increased to 180Hz for faster response times (refresh rate is still 60Hz).
The Pova 2 comes with a slightly more powerful chipset, a Helio G85. This 12nm chip has two Cortex-A75 cores and a Mali G52 MC2 GPU. Compared to the G80 chip in the previous model, this one runs its GPU at a slightly higher clock, though not nearly enough to offset the fact that it has to push twice as many pixels.

On the plus side you get more memory as standard, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. There’s a dedicated spot for a microSD card if you need more storage. The phone comes with Android 11 out of the box (technically with HiOS 7.6).

Tecno is also boasting about the optimizations in the ET Game Engine and Game Space 2.0 that can boost the CPU and GPU as needed. The systems are designed with the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang MOBA game in mind.

The 7,000 mAh battery will endure even long gaming sessions, charging remains at 18W (same as before). At least Tecno switch the USB port to Type-C. This is a dual SIM phone with 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, and an FM radio receiver.

The rear camera on the phone was upgraded with a 48MP main sensor (up from 13MP) with an aperture of f/1.8. There are three 2MP helper modules on the back too. The selfie camera packs an 8MP sensor.

The Tecno Pova 2 will go on pre-order on June 5, sales start on June 11. It will be available through several online retailers in the Philippines: Shopee, Lazada, Memo Express and Kimstore. Note that each retailer offers its own pre-order perks.

It’s now official guys. The long-awaited  Infinix S5 Pro (X660) has been released with Helio P35 SoC, a 48MP triple camera, a pop-up selfie shooter, and a notchless display. Recall that Infinix S5 was launched last year with Helio P22 SoC, punch hole display and a quad-camera setup. Today, the company has launched the Pro version with upgraded features.

Without any shred of doubt, 2019 has been an eventful year for Infinix Mobile. Though, what the phone will be called or the key features were not released confirmed, but we can guess that the device may be an addition in the S5 series or it can be S6 line-up. With a pop-up camera, we can expect a larger bezel-less display boasting a bigger screen to body ratio, which we have not seen before in other Infinix devices.

The Infinix S series are Infinix’s mainstream handset that could help bring pop-up selfie camera packed with the latest tech. These phones will also target everyday users and many selfie lovers. Headed into the Infinix S5 Pro or Infinix S6 launch, Infinix is in a much stronger position than it was a year ago. It made waves in 2019, nabbing a tremendous response from the Nigerian market. The latest report shows that the Infinix Hot 8 android smartphone will start receiving XOS v5.5 custom skin update based on Android Pie with some other interesting software packages like the Social Turbo, Game Assistant, and the latest gesture-based features. This latest update will kick-off in India and will bring a host of new features with an updated Android security patch.

According to what we gathered, Infinix Hot 8 will also get a beautification feature for WhatsApp video calls, a peek mode for privacy, and more. The company confirmed that this new update is meant to bring the December Android security patch, as well as the updated GMS (Google Mobile Services) v201910 package.

Talking about new features arriving with the update, the notable ones in including Social Turbo that the company calls a WhatsApp Assistant, and adds features like WhatsApp call recorder and customizable stickers among others. Listed below is a breakdown of the features introduced by the XOS v5.5 update:

Social Turbo / WhatsApp Assistant

XOS v5.5 update also adds a new ‘Answer with a Gesture' feature that lets users answer an incoming call by just using hand gestures, without even touching their phone.
The new ‘Smart Screen Lifting' feature lights up the phone's screen when users pick it up.
There is a new ‘Game Assistant' feature that provides quick controls for certain tools in a panel that can be accessed by just swiping from the side. Lastly, the ‘Game Anti-Interference' mode blocks notifications and reminders, except those for incoming calls and alarms.

Unlike some of the flagship Android smartphones Sony has released in the Xperia series, Xperia 8 has the power button, and fingerprint sensor featured on the right side. The smartphone measures 158 x 69 x 8.1mm in dimensions, with weight clocked at 170 grams.

In terms of performance, Xperia 8 boasts with Snapdragon 630 chipset tagged along with 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD card. Unfortunately, the phone’s battery capacity is quite poor. It is powered by a 2760mAh battery capacity which supports 18W fast charging. A new report by Tarun Pathak from Counterpoint Research shows those iPhone lovers thronged Apple Authorized Resellers and premium stores across India to buy the latest iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhones pre-booking started on Friday with a lot of consumer interest comparable to what was seen when iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 was released in India in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

The iPhones were made available for pre-booking at 6 pm on Friday and as early as 12 noon, people queued up at various Apple stores across the country to grab any of the iPhones.

As expected, the iPhone 11 was the most sold model among the three iPhones because of the cheap price. At both Amazon India and Flipkart, the iPhone 11 devices went out-of-stock in just three days after the pre-booking was opened on September 20.

"Looks like Apple iPhone 11 pricing strategy is going down well for the consumers. Additionally, the offers on top of it from the financial/retail partners make it a great buy for users looking to upgrade," Pathak told IANS.

According to Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CyberMedia Research (CMR), iPhone is the most desired and coveted aspirational smartphone brand in India.

"With the iPhone 11 and its higher-priced variants, what Apple has been able to achieve is to bring forth a wholesome value proposition for iPhone users seeking to upgrade: a device that delivers overwhelming well, not merely on the price front, but also on the features itself, whether it be the excellent camera capabilities or the terrific battery life," Ram told IANS.

With the way things are going now, Pathak noted that Apple may hit its record festive season sales in India driven by its iPhone 11 and iPhone XR.

Huawei Technologies felt the trade war heat earlier last month as US government suspended most of its business operations with the company for spy allegations. Yesterday, at the G20 summit, Donald Trump has announced that the government will allow the Chinese company to do business with US companies.

The US President, Donald Trump while briefing newsmen said that there is no security problem involved with US companies selling their equipment to Huawei Technologies. He noted that after meeting and discussing with China’s president Xi Jinping, he will allow US firms to start selling their equipment to Huawei.

It is not clear if components like Qualcomm OS, Android OS from Google, etc will be given to Huawei. However, Trump added that the trade agreement Huawei will be coming up soon, probably next week. “We are leaving Huawei towards the end. We are going to see what we go with the trade agreement”, said Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Huawei is still on the “Entity List” by the US Government that suspended the company from transacting with American companies. Trump, in reaction to this, assured that he will be discussing all of this with the Commerce Department and that an official report will be released soon.

FoneArena reports a few weeks ago that Huawei and it sub-brand Honor announced that a range of its smartphones will be receiving the Android Q update with frequent security updates. This means that if Huawei and Google are allowed to work together again as before, Huawei and Honor users would continue to get regular firmware updates.

Even in the midst of so many companies like Google, Facebook, etc. cutting ties with Huawei, the company remains unshaken as it has managed to ship 1 million smartphones with its own operating system called HongMeng. According to reports, the company has actually shipped 1 million devices with HongMeng OS for testing, without clear information on whether the smartphones are available in the market or still on the development stage.

A top Chinese institutional brokerage company Rosenblatt Securities tipped that the new HongMeng OS is compatible with all Android applications and comes with an “increased security functions to protect personal data”. On when the new HongMeng OS will available, the CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group, Yu Chengdong assured the customers that the new operating system will be made available to the public by as early as this fall or next spring. The new HongMeng will be compatible with all smartphones, tablets, computers, cars, televisions, and smart wearable devices.



As if Huawei foresaw its current trade war with the US, the company started the development of its own operating system as far back as 2012 in case of any ban in the future.
