Romance / Dear Lord, Please Don't Allow This Website Get Introduced Into Nigeria. Amen! by biztalkenya(f): 2:10pm On Aug 26, 2017
There is this crazy Kenyan website I found. It is where Kenyans go anonymously to post the most bizarre and intimate details of their lives. And I thought Nigerians were bad enough.
This disclaimer is attached after the header.
This platform was created to enable Kenyans confess without being judged. The best you could do is provide a kind word of encouragement to someone else or offer some helpful advice. Thanks for your cooperation.

Here are some of the ones I found from thousands of confessions…

“I am born again i love the Lord but am addicted to gambling and i was told its not good.Everytime i bet i do win and give the ten percent every sunday. So is betting wrong??”

”I’m in love with a stingy man”
”I have a wife and one kid.I am not employed. My source of income is my Bott.I go out selling myself to gay people”
”I am dating an ancestor of 72 older than even my grandpa and he ######s me good and I love him to bits”

”I want to shag Flavour Nnabania desperately”

”i know nobody will see my post but sometimes when i am bored, i go into the garden, i cover myself in earth and i pretend i am a carrot”

“Which of you females want to cheat on your husbands with a handsome tall dark dude?”

“My secret is…be4 meetin my hubbie, I had 3 abortions and now we can’t get kids. He thinks he is the problem. I’ve tried even with my pastor & my neighbour & his cousin but can’t conceive- I believe this was not cheating as I want to give him a kid. I luv my man and don’t want to break his heart.”

Website is https://confessions.co.ke/

Social media is crazy! People would rather confess tot the internet than confess to God. Jesus abeg do come.

Romance / Kenyans Exposes Their Secrets. by biztalkenya(f): 12:29am On Aug 16, 2017
Founded late last year, My Secret Confessions aims to help Kenyans shed off anonymously the burden of secrets that they have been keeping to themselves to reduce gobbling stress and anxiety.

The site is allowing users share just about anything anonymously for at times solid , non-judgemental advice or weird nonsense in the same measure.

“This helps people let go of an issue that may have been bothering them for years,” says Ken Kariuki, its developer.”This is something that was non-existent in the country before. People keep secrets because they are afraid of sharing them with friends or family for fear of being rejected, scorned or stigmatized, and this can be harmful.”

Kariuki tells TechMoran that the site was designed in a simple way to make it easy to use. At the top there’s a box starting with the words ‘My secret is….’. You are required to type your secret there and click ‘Share My Secret’. It will immediately appear on top of other secrets and users will be able to read, comment, like or dislike the secret.

“It is automatically assigned a secret number and shows the date and time of posting. Users can also use the social buttons just below the secret to share on Facebook, Google Plus or Twitter. The maximum character count is 350,” adds Kariuki.

For every secret posted there’s a comment box starting with the words ‘I think….’. That’s where you’ll be able to type your thoughts and post. The secrets that elicit the most comments will automatically appear on the site’s ‘Most Commented’ page. The same happens to the ‘Most Liked’ and ‘Most Disliked’ secrets. There’s a logarithmic system in place to take care of that. Comments can only contain 200 characters or less.

The site also has a search box where one can search a secret anytime using the secret number. MySecret aim to make its cash through banner ads and affiliate programs which they are already experimenting with.

The team also intends to introduce a small fee in the upcoming ‘Connect’ section to help us serve users better. The site is still in its infancy, and there’s a lot of potential in the future says Kariuki who is now using Facebook, Twitter and blog posts to market his site in a bid to make it a household name.

Though the site is gaining popularity so fast, Kariuki says it’s a new concept in the country so some people are skeptical about the site.

“They tend to think that we are out to get them after they post their secrets, which is not the case, as we collect no data from the users and are unable to determine user identities,” Kariuki told TechMoran. “Posting of malicious content by a few guys is another problem, but not a major one as we have a standby team to moderate.”

As the only secrets sharing platform in the country, Ken knows others may crop up later, but the kind of technology he says he has used makes the site exceptional and hard to copy.

“Our users enjoy freedom of speech with less moderation, reason why many visit www.confessions.co.ke and the MySecret Kenya app daily. We have made both the website and Android app easy to navigate. This guarantees a satisfactory user experience. We also suffer zero downtimes!” Ken adds.

Kariuki, a journalist by profession and a graduate of the East Africa School of Journalism, says him and his team of six are about to add a new section called ‘Connect’, which will enable people to get in touch. Basically, a user will be able to post what they are looking for and leave their contacts. Anyone interested will then hit the ‘Connect’ button and immediately get the contact details.

MySecrets is also considering having full-time counsellors on board to offer real-time advice for free to depressed users as he realizes most people on MySecret seem to be going through a lot in life and a piece of advice from a qualified counsellor would go a long way in making their lives better.

“We are actively exploring new ways of improving the site. We intend to become the biggest shoulder Africa can lean on by introducing MySecrets to the rest of the continent. The aim of this is to support as many people as possible to have less stress and anxiety and increased emotional well-being, as well as connect them to local and national support organizations in times of need,” concludes Kariuki.

There is a new site that is taking the Kenyan cyberspace by storm. It is confessions.co.ke. It is not a mobile app like Whispers is or Secrets, the failed American startup, was. Instead, it is a simple website that has just one mission: to let you anonymously share your well-kept secret with strangers.

For the last one week or so that I have been checking out confessions.co.ke, I have come face to face with the other side of Kenyan cyberspace. The lewd, freestyle, sex-crazed one. All those saints over at the Kenya Film Classification Board would faint if they browsed through the hundreds of posts and comments made on confessions.co.ke daily.

The site works well on both desktop and mobile.

We have all messed up at some point. And we have kept top secrets from others for a while. But deep within, you would wish to know what people may think or say about the mess you did. Simply own up and confess.

An anonymous platform to do just that is here: confessions.co.ke. Post your confession anonymously and get advice / views from other members.

Politics / What The Bible Says About Wealth by biztalkenya(f): 12:59am On Jun 21, 2017
Adapted from BiztalKenya: www.biztalk.co.ke
With estimated sales of over 5 billion copies and some estimated annual sales of over 100 million copies, the Bible remains one of the best-selling books in the world.
Many people seek for spiritual and inspirational truths from the Bible. Are you aware what the Bible can offer? The Bible is one of the most practical book ever written. If you study the Bible carefully, you will realize that it relates to almost every area of our life. Money and material possession are not an exemption.
Have you ever stopped and wondered what the Bible says about wealth? The Bible features a lot about wealth and poverty, what makes us rich or poor. The Bible explains, through stories and parables the importance of giving, the necessity of receiving and it even gives you tips on your journey to prosperity.

To understand what the Bible says about wealth, ask yourself the following questions:
1. What is your worth according to the Bible?
2. What is the worth of money in your life?
3. Does money affect your faith and trust in God?
4. What are your sources of wealth?
5. Do you work? How do you create your wealth?
6. What does the Bible say about Wealth and debts?
Let’s start by exploring the first question;
1. What is your worth?
Your worth is what you remain with after you have deducted all your debts and amounts owed from your assets. But God views your worth as you overall prosperity. God does not consider your numerical riches (money or assets) as your net worth. In God’s eye, you are beyond any measurement and cannot be associated with any value (See John 3:16)

If you accept Christ and receive God’s forgiveness for your sins, then you are worthy in God’s eyes. This isn’t the case for non-believers. In summary, to God, your net worth relates to the spiritual soundness of your entire life.

God does not see money as filthy. Money itself is neutral in His eyes. It’s what we do with our money that matters to God. That we deal with our finances in purity, governed by right motives.

2. What is the worth of money in your life?
Is it godlier to be poor or to be rich? How should Christian place money in their life?
How much money should a Christian have and remain spiritually minded? These are common questions when discussing money, material wealth, and Christianity.
Many believe that you cannot combine money and spirituality.

The Beatitudes support this concept: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Mathew 5:3. Many have assumed that ‘poor’ here means financial poverty.
We all know that this is not the case. God doesn’t stop speaking to the wealthy. God listen to everyone, irrespective of their financial capacity. It should be clarified that Jesus meant the poor in spirit, not poor in finances.
There are four positions that people hold towards money and material gain: Idolatry, envy, greed, and Neutrality.
Idolatry – to some people money become central to their life; they worship money. And thus, spend most of their time energy on its acquisition and use. How much time do you spend shopping, on the ATM in comparison to the time you spend in prayer?
Envy – most people don’t admit to being envious. They believe that those who are wealthy and prosperous have received it through ungodly ways. That is rarely the case. Most people have worked hard to get their wealth. People invest time and money astutely or have inherited their money. The Bible advice us to take care of the poor and provide for them, but the poor always assumed in the Scriptures to be those who are incapable of taking care of themselves.
Greed – Idolatry, and envy can result into greed. This is the insatiable need for more.
The greedy person believes that if God loves him, He will give him everything he desires. There is no limit to what a greedy person desires.
Neutrality – we should realize that money can buy social evils like drugs, but at the same time, it can purchase a Bible for someone to read.

3. What does the Bible say about your money and your faith?
The Bible clearly brings out the relation between one’s spirituality and money. How you handle money will show your relationship with God. The ungodly people do not care about the natural world; they spend most of the time thinking of how they will use the world to make money.

In the book of Revelation, we see that the end times has been clearly described as a period where the humans will be very materialistic. Revelation 18:9-19

Let me be clear, concern and pursuit for material wealth doesn’t make one ungodly. But if one is immersed into the search of material wealth that he forgets the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, it becomes ungodly.

The Lord wants us to grow in every area of our lives. God wants us to balance Spiritual well-being, emotional being, socialization and also the accumulation of materials. We should strive to strike a balance.

When we abandon our God-given gifts, we displease God. He is not displeased that we are accumulating wealth. God will be displeased when we gain wealth at the expense of other areas of our life.
Jesus uses the parable to explain this concept:

“The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with [the queen of Babylon] will weep and lament for thy when they see the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance for fear of thy torment, saying, “Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.” – Revelation 18:9 – 19
The ‘talent’ in this parable is the money, not skills. Why should Jesus talk about money here?
It’s important to note that all the riches and talent comes from the Lord. He gave us the talents for free so that we can use them and be blessed and be a blessing to others. If you are sitting back today and not utilizing all the talents God gave you, you are limiting Gods Blessings to your life.
The person who desires to be prosperous lives in such a way that the promises of God are available to him. The person who seeks only riches is someone to whom the fullness of God’s promise does not apply. If you pursue prosperity, you will avail yourself to God. There is no limit to the amount of growth and blessing that you will get.
