Back to your comment. Looking at it objectively I can't help but notice that we are saying similar thing but in different ways.

First of all, I also believe that ethnicity is mere association because all humans are related.
Now, If ethnic groups represent nations and is a mere association, it will be easy to notice that for a country to progress they must share that which make a group of people form ethnicities. Such includes many but one is dominant, "similar ideology"
Looking at your examples of what looks like a heterogeneous country, you will notice that a particular ethnic group stands out dominant making both the country and other Minorities are referred as them (Botswana/Tswana, Switzerland/Swiss). It is like a ship with an anchor which determines its direction.
This doesn't mean that the welfare, opinion and culture of the Minorities must be ignored but carefully visited to align with the ways of the dominant group. If the opinion of the minority overrides that of the majority commulating in the majority depending on the decision of the minority, it will create an Oligarchy (evident in the Sokoto Caliphate).
At this junction the majority start looking for ways to take back their country. Do you notice the sharp change from "our country" to "my country"?

Lets look at the other side of the coin. If the Minorities are the ones their opinion were not taken into much consideration or feel that the majority lack what it takes to make decisions or take reign on behalf of them, they won't use the term to take back their country but either ask for secession (if they ever consented to the union) or Liberation. Either way is to have a state where their opinion matters most.

This is the most peaceful explanation. To handle such, most countries that have significant minorities grant a level of Autonomy to those parts so that they can take control of a greater degree of their future and see the host country as a business transaction where they contribute to derive profit. Such autonomy can be so liberal that those minorities can stand as a country and hold parliaments (Scotland, Monaco etc).

How do you know that Majority are the owners of the country?
I will give you real life experiences.
1.) Yugoslavia: During the Serbian hegemony on the other nations in the country. Many ignorant Minorities thought that the country can be salvaged but when the Civil war broke out, they realised that what they thought was Yugoslavian army was in fact Serbian Army.
2.) Soviet Union: It wasn't until the dissolution of Soviet Union that it became obvious to the even the most Liberal people that Soviet Union was a country for the Rus ethnic group (now Russia) as they retained every thing the Soviet Accomplished so far and continued from where they stopped as if nothing happened.
3.) Modern Russia: It is no news that Vladimir Putin is famous for saying that the rights of ethnic Minorities in Russia will be respected but Russian Language and Culture MUST dominate.

Looking at the emboldened on the first part, do you notice something similar in Nigeria?
Have you asked anybody in the military the official language of Nigerian army?
There is nothing like Nigerian army.

I believe by now you now understand what we are talking about.
Botswana is for Tswana people but the rights of the Minorities will be respected and if need be grant autonomy to them.
The same goes for Switzerland etc.

As for Biafra, I believe MNK one time said that Biafra won't be a forced unitary country like Nigeria, that statehood of ethnic Minorities no matter how small must be respected. Pointing to the direction that Biafra will most likely be a confederacy where the autonomous regions will bear the name of their Nation/ethnic group

Biafra looks like the fastest way for the Minorities to have an identity and make people know that they exist based on the Liberal history and way of life of Ndigbo.
Besides Ndigbo shares history, culture, ancestry etc with most of the Minorities that might end up forming the Biafra (eg Ekoi, Efik, Ibibio). In Switzerland, constitution of the country comply with Swiss customs.
