TAO11: This one doesn't know what he is talking about. I really hope it's not jealousy driving you into absurdities. I really hope so.
(1) First of all, the Archibald Dalzel you mentioned actually documented that the powerful kingdom of Dahomey was under Oyo's imperial control and domination (paying annual tributes all along) until when Oyo began having internal issues. This lasted up to about 100 years.
(2) The statement from Archibald that Oyo paid tribute to Nupe around 1791 (during Oyo's imperial height) is a statement he obtained from the Dahomeans (who were under Oyo).
The statement is not found in Nupe traditions, neither is it found in Oyo's traditions. It is a swipe by Dahomey against its Oyo overlord. it has no corroboration in the traditions of the actual parties involved (i.e. 1700s Nupe and 1700s Oyo).
(3) Apart from the well-known Archibald Dalzel who wrote about Oyo's imperial domination of the Dahomey region in the 1700s, another European who wrote about Oyo's activities in the region in the 1600s is the Dutch Merchant, William Bosman. He has the following to say about one of Oyo's attack in the region.
"These being all Horsed, and a warlike Nation, in a short time mastered half of the King of Ardra's territories, and made such a slaughter among his subjects, that the Number of the Dead being innumerable, was commonly express'd by saying, "They were like the Grains of Corn in the Field ..." This Nation strikes such a terror into all the circumjacent Negroes, that they can scarce hear them mention'd without trembling: And they tell a thousand strange Things of them."
Cc: Enoch07, Christistruth00, BKayy, theTranscriber, Lattop, OBALOLA55 Madam please I want to understand something here. When I went to Nupe land years ago, I met some Nupe people riding donkeys to farm. There it is common to see a Fulani Camel caravan because the Fulani live side by side with the Nupe people. Same with Sokoto. On many occasions you see families known for their horsemanship. You'll see their horses being chartered for. Occasionally, we see Tuareg Camel caravan coming to trade in Nigeria. In Borno, we saw rich families with their own horses. So what happened to the Oyo or should I say Yoruba horsemanship? Why is it that there is no trace of it in Yoruba land? This is not about modernisation because even as developed as Dubai is, they still retain their ancient "falconry", camel racing and ownership. So what happened to Oyo horsemanship? |

Is this supposed to be a question? There are many lies parading themselves as history in Nigeria. One of them is that Anna Pepple was an Ijaw man. Another is the imaginary Oyo calvary which mysteriously dissappeared and left no trace of horse or horsemanship in not just in Oyo but the entire Yoruba land.
There was never an Oyo empire. All those things are lies. |

FreeStuffsNG: On the contrary he was killed by those who hate Nigeria and Nigerians because he, like other millions of Nigerian patriots, believe in Nigeria. But like Peter Tosh sang, darkness will only triumph over light in the interim. His family left a name behind, they believe in a higher ideal of duty, integrity and patriotism and died for it when many others are dying . Can that be said of your own family someday? The way you people parade this killing shows otherwise. You don't want to investigate but fly it like an anti IPOB banner. Can an Imams death be used the same way as this? Or that of Sultan? No because he is part of the Igbo you are fighting. What you posted and keep posting is not condolences but propaganda to crush his peoples spirit with his death. This speaks all about the real killers. Nigerians |

A monument, like we have in Lagos at the spot Gen. All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las. They always lose. God bless the Akunyili family and the families of all our fallen heroes and patriots. God bless Nigeria. The same Family Nigeria have robbed of both the Husband and Wife? Like Obadiah Malifa said on Fulani herdsmen/ Bandits plan for Southern Nigeria "in the phase 2 they will move to the urban areas killing prominent people" Who else would be their first choice if not one the people that the wife escaped their Assassination attempt. nosiebaba: Whenever you support ipob just remember it's the miscreants and criminals amongst them that are bold enough to commit crimes. Supporting them only embolden these criminals to wreck more havoc. When they chased students writing exams away, burnt their bikes and books and scared the poor children with guns and gunshots that's when I knew ipob have lost the intellectual battle. They have positioned themselves to fail. The same people that attacked the bank at Nkpor, killed two school children and hoisted Biafran flag did all these things. The only difference is that then, they were doing rehearsals. Nigerian Terrorists |

Politics › Re: IPOB : Go Hard Or Go Home by BKayy: 4:42pm On Sep 30, 2021 |
OfoIgbo: IPOB has to be restructured, starting from Nnamdi Kanu. He does not have what it takes to lead a complex struggle, and he does not have the necessary expertise and wherewithal to do certain things that are necessary in the struggle. IPOB is currently living off the usual Igbo never-say-die spirit, and that's all. Freedom fighting requires a lot more. There is a reason Yorubas have an accomplished professor and and elder, leading their struggle, while Igboho appeals to the exuberance of the Yoruba youths.
There is a reason an elder and an accomplished professor is leading the Ibom republic movement. The only thing not going for the Yoruba and Akwa Ibom people is that they are not as boisterous as Igbos.
Igbos are boisterous and extremely resourceful. The only thing we currently lack is the right sort of leadership to make everything work seamlessly.
This is why for many years, I have always advocated that committed and accomplished Igbo elders should lead the struggle, or someone as deft and legally brilliant as Tony Nnadi. When we had committed elders, some of whom are former Ohanaeze president generals, leading the elders council, Nnamdi Kanu used Radio Biafra to alienate them. Today, Achuzia, Sylvester Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Dr. Ikedife are dead. Unfortunately, the touts of Igboland and eastern Nigeria who were hypnotised by Kanu's broadcasts supported the casting aside of these elders, thus exposing our youths to all manner of tribulations from the Fulani terrorist government, including being declared terrorists when they were just waving banners.
Kanu can just man the directorship of Radio Biafra. More accomplished individuals with the required experience and global reach in powerful circles should take on this mantle of leadership that is currently needed. It is Kanu's total inexperience as a leader that got him arrested, tortured and bundled back to Nigeria, from a country well known for illegal repatriation of dissidents. That same inexperience is showing in every aspect of his leadership, only that those his failures are not as well pronounced and obvious as his current inexplicable arrest in Kenya.
The Buhari government are well aware of his failings which was why it was very easy for them to capture him again.
The Fulani terrorist government's assassination of Dr Akunyili, while tragic, is a wonderful opportunity for IPOB to bounce back. Fortunately for IPOB, Anambra people are solidly of the impression that the assassination was carried out by Buhari's government, as a ploy to keep giving IPOB a bad name in the east, but this seems to have backfired badly, leading the DSS to start declaring their innocence. We all saw how DSS brought in thugs into the ENDSARS demonstrations to give it a bad name.
I am happy with what the OP wrote as it is all about seeking solutions and putting structures in place to make IPOB stronger. Believe you me, in spite of IPOB's deficiencies, I am very proud of IPOB, and it is possibly the only organisation that this terroristic regime fears. I just want IPOB to speedily restructure for the struggles ahead. Finally, the formation of ESN ought to be hailed by every Igbo man. There is nothing that this terroristic Fulani government will do, to make me rue the formation of ESN. ESN is needed, and I must give IPOB 100% for that. IPOB now needs to put qualified heads to be in charge of the various sectors needed in this freedom struggle, also taking into account, the proposal of the OP. Please don't compare IPOB with Yoruba. Currently speaking, Yoruba agitators don't exist anymore. Their media is the one breathing life into it as a means of bringing up and imaginary border line for Yorubas. Maybe they have started realising the big mess they helped plunge Yoruba Nation into. As for the leadership structure, Nnamdi Kanu should stay. He is already the face and I doubt those accomplished individuals will like to face off Britain and the West with their faces showing so they will maintain the background. That is behind the scene. Nnamdi Kanu has the charisma to penetrate the ground root but he needs SERIOUS REORIENTATION. First will be about history. He needs to either keep that aside than the thing he keeps blabbing. Something that has a bad name in the world of history (hamitic hypothesis). Then another is keeping emotions in check, followed by understanding that not everything will be won over by mere reasoning because not everyone believes in Good and Bad, you have to buy some over. As for the last part about ESN. You have my acknowledgement 100%. It is only a fool that will be against ESN. ESN is the very authority, all these southern politicians speak on. They have forgotten that the North started taking them serious after its formation because now, the have a defence and base of real authority. Nobody can undermine the importance of execution arm in politics or Government. Its like a teeth in the mouth of a carnivore. Minus ESN, IPOB and the whole South is just a bunch of Noisemakers |

Anyone still believing that Nigeria can't or won't break up must be very myopic and thoughtless. Yorubas are too divided for that. |
