Prerogative to spend scarce resources on some privileged few when civil servants are yet to be paid? For what

Which law grant them some privilege?

I am against wasting resources on Yeyebrities. Public funds should be used on the public, government owe no yeyebrity nothing.
I'm against it too
That's why they should stop it altogether rather than choosing which they should fund .
People are asking for it because they know the govt had done it before

The man whose Burial was held last week was a former Governor of Western region, which Ekiti state was part of. So, you should expect a semi state burial.

Burial of citizens is NOT part of the responsibilities of government. World over, citizens bury their dead NOT government.
Of. cause I know its not a state responsibility but governors do have certain % of perogatives on where ,when or how to spend state funds when its politically expedient for them or just out of their magnanimity .
The call is for assistance not for them to fund everything . And thank God Lagos state in Tinubu has taken it

Lagos state under Fasola took some responsibility in the burial of late Sikiru Ayinde Barister in 2010.
Hw was just a citizen too. Not even from Lagos state .

Ondo govt also played a huge role in the legal luminary ,chief Gani fawehimi's burial

Fayose is 100% right.

Why should he use public fund to fly Moji to Nigeria? Even if Moji is a civil servant, was she on government duty in the USA before her demise?

Should government now take responsibility of the burial of every citizen?

Well Done Fayose, I would have done same IF I was in your shoe.
He is not 100% right
state fund had been used to bury many deseased sons and daughters of Ekiti in the past .
One was held last Friday where Fayose was seen beating the drum
During election they want the people to believe everyone is equal but after the election, the segregation begins . I think what's sauce for the goose should also be for the gander .
This is why such excesses should be abolished because it can't be objectively pursued .
who determines when or why the state should fund a burial ?

Other political parties should rise to this new challenge

we have over 40 other political parties , why are people shouting , " they want to silence opposition ?"
Is it only pdp that can play opposition ?
ACN was giving Pdp a good opposition even when it has only Lagos state .
What's wrong with Apga ,LP ,NCP ,Accord and Kowa ? Why are politicians jumping from Pdp to Apc . If they dont want to be in pdp because of tbe crisis - what's wrong with joining NCP ?

Osinbajovis a mere commissioner as one of the top guns in Nass said. Osinbajo cannot mess with nass. Don't forget he is a running mate of a presidential candidate and he is not in by any election and the ambits constitution I remember doesn't cover the Vice President or deputy governor.
If he messes with NASS, they will put him where he belongs. People in Nigeria tend tic underestimate the power of the National Assembly, this guys are even more constitutionally protected than the president.
The president cannot get the senate president out, but the senate president can collide with his colleagues and that settles it
You must be qouting Biafras constitution .
Can an executive president or governor take part in an election with a vice or deputy ?

lets see Saraki try getting the president out now.
After all his constituency can also get him out

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Support Genocide? by bkool7(m): 9:33am On May 21, 2017
Regarding the command to eradicate entire
nations, I believe that God had to because the
influence of these nations left unchecked would
ultimately lead to the death of many more
innocent people. It’s helpful to keep in mind that
nations like the Canaanites engaged in human
sacrifice, even offering their children to devil
gods. (See Deuteronomy 12:31.) Additionally, not
only did God use Israel’s might to punish evil
nations like these, He used the Babylonian,
Assyrian, and Egyptian kings to punish Israel.
God will often use human forces to mete out His
discipline.
It’s an imperfect illustration, but often infected
cattle or poultry are destroyed for the purpose of
stopping an epidemic and saving vastly more
livestock. Likewise, left unchecked, these nations
would have plagued the world with such
depravity that they simply were not redeemable.
So as much as it broke the heart of God, the
order was given to eliminate these infected
nations.
The Consequences of Failure
The Amalekites were a source of constant woe to
Israel. Shortly after the Israelites left Egypt, the
Amalekites attacked the weary people,
slaughtering the weak and elderly ( Deuteronomy
25:18). Even the Babylonians had a bad opinion
of them, calling them “Khabbati,” or “plunderers.”
The Amalekites and Caananites, among other
nations, practiced child burning, torture as
public entertainment, and sexual immorality as
sport.
The Israelites later avenged the attack and
defeated the Amalekites, but failed to completely
eradicate the nation. Israel was then plagued with
continuous Amalekite raids (Exodus 17; 1 Samuel
15:2; Numbers 14:45). We can safely assume that
God knew Amalekite decedents would always bear
rage against His people. In the book of Esther,
Haman the son of the Agagite, who was an
Amalekite king, sought to exterminate all the Jews.
Even today, the name Amalek is a symbol for
hatred against Jews. How different things might be
had Israel obeyed God to the letter?
You should also remember the story of the
Ninevites. God was warning them through Jonah
to change their ways or be utterly destroyed, and
they repented. God deals far more justly and
mercifully than most people are willing to admit.
No Easy Answers
This is a very difficult issue. Honestly, I don’t
always understand God because I’m not God. But
at the same time, I trust God that He is just and
that He is love. We serve a sovereign and eternal
God who knows better than we do, and though we
now look at Him through a glass darkly, one day
will come when we will have clear answers.
Remember that God’s ways are higher than our
ways and His thoughts are higher than our
thoughts ( Isaiah 55:9; Romans 11:33–36). We
have to be willing to trust God and have faith in
Him even when we do not understand.
Often, questions like these aren’t honest. Rather
than seeking an answer to help them believe,
many skeptics use it as a weapon to discourage
belief. It is certainly not a new question. It also
presumes that God is incompetent or not wholly
sovereign. They say, “I wouldn’t do anything like
that, so God shouldn’t either.” But the framework
of the Bible is that God is indeed sovereign, just,
and competent, which is exactly why writers left
the story in. God wasn’t hiding, and He’s hoping
people come to Him for the answer.
Yet a genuine question deserves a genuine
response, and I hope I’ve given you some helpful
nuggets of wisdom to answer a truly difficult
question. Quite simply, for God’s faithful, it is a
matter of trust. Yes, we know that God is good,
that He wants the best, but ultimately, we have to
trust Him.

And when you wonder, you should ask the Holy Spirit for direction and wisdom, that thy faith not be tossed into the sea.

Now, based on what the Holy Spirit told me this morning, technology back then was much more advanced than we know today. Men were much strong -- Samson killed a lion with bare hands, and over 1500 Philistines all alone. The other nigga David was so bad-ass, all the mkpeke for Israel were singing his name "Saul has killed a 1000, David 10000". Remember the Prophet that ran and overtook a horse. What about Moses that divided the Red Sea? In those days, the Holy Spirt spread knowledge and power for men to do exploits.

So that's how they built a rock tower that almost reached heaven.

God had every right to be scared. Over-familiarity brings contempt.

Christianity Etc › Re: Genesis 11 : 4 To 7: How Realistic Is This Part Of The Bible? by bkool7(m):
God became angry with the inhabitants of Babel
for the following reasons:

1. They were being disobedient by settling,
when God clearly commanded to “Be fruitful
and multiply, and fill the earth” (Genesis 9:7)
. God does not tolerate disobedience, and
this is exactly what the inhabitants of Babel
were doing.

2. They were being prideful, which is a wicked
sin. The text clearly reveals the state of mind
of these people “Let us make a name for
ourselves.” They were bent on pride, and so
consumed by it that they wanted to create a
monumental skyscraper to “show off” just
how good they were.

3. Idolatry. While this passage does not go into
great detail concerning the idolatrous
practices of the Babylonians, the fact that
they wanted to ignore God and make a name
for themselves reveals that they were already
committing idolatry by worshipping “self."

Some commentators have suggested that
they would have worshipped pagan gods of
the stars and moon as well.
God does not get upset because He suspects the
people of Babel will actually build a tower in to
the heavens (the abode of God). In fact, this is
only an expression they uttered meaning
that the building would be a very tall building.
The word “heavens” in the Bible can refer to the
sky, outer space, or the abode of God.
What made God upset is that they are not filling
the Earth, were being prideful, and they were
committing idolatry.
God knew that they could do much evil working
collectively. This is why He utters, “Behold, they
are one people, and have one language, and this
is only the beginning of what they will do. And
nothing they propose to do will now be
impossible for them” (Genesis 11:6).
After this, God confounds their languages, which
is why we now have so many today. What’s
interesting to note is this: When people all had
one language, they achieved incredible things
very quickly–even the potential to create a
building that “reached into the heavens,” all
without today’s technology or machinery. But
after God changed their language, it greatly
diminished their productivity and abilities.
What about today’s time? We live in an age where
we now have translators and software that can
allow for rapid communication with people of
other languages. Language is not as much of a
barrier as it used to be, and we are witnessing
incredible feats in human history. We have
decoded the human genome, made huge
discoveries in science, engineering, technology,
and more.
What God knew was happening in the time of
Babel is once again happening today. As the
speech barrier is broken down, man is rising up.
God’s words of “And nothing that they propose to
do will be impossible for them” is starting to
once again come true, as in the time of Babel.
That is why wickedness is increasing at such a
fast pace. Not only are we accomplishing more,
but we too are trying to “make a name for
ourselves.” We are trying to worship man instead
of God.
Are you ready for the return of Christ? If you died
today, are you 100% sure that you’d be saved
from God’s judgment? If not, please accept Christ
as your savior today. Pray a prayer to God asking
for the forgiveness of yours sins, and put your
trust and faith in the risen Christ.
