If you want to have a good PTDF interview experience and you can make it to Abuja, use the centre. Other centres are in universities with Nigerian lecturers. They will ask you irrelevant questions or assess you with how happy they are on that day. When they see a topic that's closer to what they know, they will grill you until you become confused just because they want to show they know the topic. So I often avoid University Centres.

In Abuja, you will meet people who are doing well their life is good, they gain nothing by bringing you down. Just do your best and they will do their too. Some of other are northerners who isn't concerned much about you. So speak nicely and you have convinced them.

So guys goodluck. I was also shortlisted for PhD interview and I don't know how my experience would be but then whatever happens, I am open minded. Goodluck to everyone and God's Grace.

Aptitude tests in Nigeria are extremely dangerous. All forms of formal exams are dangerous in Nigeria. There's a reason why they switched away from that format.

Yeah I agree but in all honesty I feel amptitude test is better than the interview. I feel amptitude should have been done first,then 10 highest scores from each state should be interviewed and the 3 or 4 best should be selected for the scholarship.

Let's wait for the interview results. We know Nigeria system is quota system which is disadvantage to some states .

PTDF could use CGPA we entered on the application to select best candidates in a moderate number like 3700 for competitive aptitude test since the final list is very small.

After test, filter out high-scoring candidates and do organised interviews preferably virtual. Let the tests results be seen immediately u write CBT .

Since PTDF scholarship is to train Nigerians in oil and gas industry, why asking for academic journal publications from MSc since most of them are in industry.

Professional bodies membership could be part of selection criteria since the scholarship is tailored to professional training. It's good to be identified with professional bodies.

How relevant the chosen course to oil and gas also matters.

Is this a suggestion or is it how they have been doing it? I thought after the interview is induction

Guy why? So what if people reveal their interview experiences? Have you forgotten that awards are based on state quota that you're so concerned that someone may get and you that "deserve" it won't. Besides the questions asked in the interview is basically the same for everyone nationwide "relevance of your course to oil and gas". In fact your secret format may even be the outdated 2018/19 format that's know to everyone. Publications are now not needed for MSc, hence your format is invalid. Peace!

I really wish there was a way to ascertain how one is scored.
I have heard experiences of some people who had either poor grades or poor interview or no professional membership still get the award.

Completely unexpected...

Its just fortune or grace, as some say. You never know what's on the minds of the interviewers or what influences their scoring...

Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to go for the interview.

I flew in to Abuja this morning from Lagos with 0630am flight and I was at the venue by 0930. My interview was scheduled for 1030am but we were all allowed to sit orderly in the auditorium and they were attending to us in the order you arrived.

I stepped out to visit a friend around knowing fully well I will use his Colour printer to print some document and I was back by 1050am. My interview started 11:10am and my questions were:
What is your name,
Which state, local govt?

They then asked me to submit my Documents in this order, First Degree, NYSC and O Level.
For the O Level, I gave them my NECO and the guy spotted my WAEC and asked for it. I explained to them that there was D7 in the WAEC that was why I am not using it. And he said thank God I brought it cos I can combine the results. They picked all the distinction on my WAEC and picked the other high grade on the NECO.

Afterwards, I was asked me to summarize my Statements of Purpose in two(2) minutes. One of the interviewer underline a statement on my statement of purpose where I was talking about my long term goals of developing the Nigerian Navy Cyber Security department. I shall told him the Nigerian Navy provide security to the oil platforms and all.

I was then asked for my professional bodies certificate, I gave them 4. Computer Professionals of Nigeria (CPN), Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Cyber Security Expert Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) and National Institute of Management (NIM).

They asked why I choose the particular University on my application.

Lastly, I was asked the nature of my job in the Navy.

I wasn’t asked of any publication but I have one with me and I also have some of my awards but I wasn’t asked. They just told me best of luck and I told them thank you and left.

My Opinion: Seeing the multitude of people that came for the interview and knowing they are picking just 4 per state then you need prayers and God‘s Grace to pull this one through.
You can just wear Kaftan or sew up and down in Abuja center, they didn’t even comment on the dressing.

Well your undergraduate project is not a publication until it's been published anywhere. And again it depends on how you manage the interview and convince the interviewers. My undergraduate project was published, so I had a score for it. I have also published my MSc. thesis.

Don't disturb yourself much about publication, it's probably 1 or 2 points. When I did my interview I didn't know I will get it. I rated it generally as not good and yet I got it.

I strongly believe after reading your experience that you will make the final list.

This is a good morale booster. I had mine yest. I don't have any professional membership,I really hope I will get it

I just wanted to share my experience. I had my interview on Tuesday in Abuja. My field of study is MSC Energy Law and Policy. The interviewers were super friendly. Asked me to present my documents, they looked through each one and inputed scores on their computer. They asked why I didn't have any publication and then told me I had lost marks allotted for publication. They even queried why I belonged to just one professional body. Well, they concluded by asking me to summarize my SOP, detailing what I wanted to study, why I wanted to study it and it's relevance to the Oil and Gas industry.
Truth is, I kind of felt bad about the publication thing, but it's all Good. I wish the rest of you all the best. May God crown you efforts with success.

Just did my interview today in Ibadan, Engineering field Msc. My observation is that the marking scheme has an objective part and a subjective part.

OBJECTIVE PART
1. O Level result. There are points for the different O Level grades. Only the best five subjects are picked. I did science in O Level but commerce was one of the subject I wrote and I got A3. To my greatest surprise they picked the commerce and left the Physics cos I had C4. So I think they pick your best 5 grades irrespective of whether it is relevant to your field or not.

2. First degree institution: I strongly suspect they have points for different class of institutions. When I gave them my degree certificate, the first question the leader of my panel asked was which school and when he was told the school he entered something into his computer like he was doing when assessing my O Level, before asking which grade.

3. First degree grade.

4. Professional body membership: I also strongly suspect the number of professional bodies you belong to also matters. I have NSE and COREN and when I handed it to them they thought it was just one but when they realised it was two certificates I gave them the guy exclaimed "oh it's two" laying emphasis on the "two", and the leader appeared to have changed the initial score he gave me. I don't know about professional certification cos I was not asked for it.

SUBJECTIVE PART
1. Dressing: they assess your dressing. Not too good comments where made about my dressing and strongly suspect they scored me low (please nobody should ask me what the comments were). My advise is dress formal as much as possible. Knot tie and wear suit if possible you can never be wrong if you do that

2. SOP: You are assessed based on how they feel you have expressed yourself when you are asked questions about your SOP. I was knocked off balance when I was asked that based on my work experience, what topic do I plan to research on for my Msc and what problem is it going to solve, in my mind I was like "on top masters wey I neva start !". I just formulated something sha and I can't tell how convinced they were. Let's note that assessment style of SOP will differ according to the panelist that is why it is on the subjective part.

I did my virtual interview on 23rd and I have the following to say:

My interview date was initially 1st June but on 20th of May, I received a meeting link with a new interview date as 23rd May by 7pm. However my portal had the time as 5pm

To be on the safe side, I tried joining the meeting from 5pm till 6pm but couldn't as teams kept displaying a message *that the meeting hasn't started*. By exactly 7pm, I clicked on the link and was allowed into the meeting 2 minutes later.

-Well I don't know if it counts but I declared my availability for the meeting by selecting the YES option on the invite.
-Also from my experience you can only access the meeting at your given date and time.
-I wasn't asked to present any documents though I had them ready
-Lastly, the meeting was actually for 10 minutes

I HONESTLY dont have an answer for you,but what i suggest you do is,try and get some1 that is close to ur documents ,tell that person to scan the required documents and send it to u, most likely they might ask for a soft copy. NOTE this is just a suggestion ,just try and contact anyone who has had a virtual interview
