You have a point as disney will lose money, but they will attract a lot of customers which will bring money in coming years. I believe thats their aim.
That might be the case or like movies with big budget (dark phoenix) they might just end up being boring and even all those budgets won't be able to save it.

TheKingIsHere:
The major problem disney+ have is that all their content basically look the same which will bore adult viewers overtime.
True but it might also be the only family friendly streaming service there is.

disney have investors na. And so far people tune in to watch them, they'd have advertisers on the streaming platform.
What are you talking about? Disney+ cannot put advertisement on their streaming platform. All they have are their subscribers money and if they aren't enough, they will lose money. Ask Netflix.

phoenix doesn't c0mmand a 20mil pay, and u guys are lo0king at dollars like a small m0ney. What's this u are saying abt sets and costumes? You'd be surprised if they told u those things d0n't cost past 5 mill. See, in the U. S, you can do alot more with 100,000 dollars than u can do with a 100,000naira. Have u seen the cinematography for pennyworth? Would u say each epis0de costs 20mil? C0me on. Box office m0jo listed the budget at 55-70mil, they know why. Forbes make up sums with estimates atimes, they aren't the ones doing the tracking. Box office m0jo are the ones. They kn0w the budget and the ticket sales. You are speaking as if 1 dollar is like 1 naira. Phoenix may be paid 5 mill which i sincerely doubt is up to that. And the rest of the casts aren't heavy weights. You'd be surprised m0st of them didn't earn anything up to 50 grand. C0me on, gal gadot earned 300,000mil for WW. I d0n't think chris pine earned 5 mil for his appearance as steve trevor. So saying producti0n budget is 30 mil, is very much plausible. 30mil d0llars is like 3 billi0n naira in our currency, so bro, d0llar get value even if the studio pays the film crew i.e camera men and miscellaneous crew 1000 grand for their services, na still m0ney.
Wow, just simply google the production and marketing budget for Joker. If ordinary reshoots can cost millions, it is the main movie that would be that cheap?

Just remember that each Shazam costume cost $1m to make, the time gal gaddot played WW, she wasn't well known, phoenix is a different case, he would request $5m-$10m pay check.

Disney is really ready for streaming war!!

Disney's MCU series will have a budget of $15m-$25m per episode

Falcon and the winter soldier/Wanda vision will cost $25m each per episode.

That means if they are making 6 episodes, it will cost $150m each.

Hawkeye, mandalorian and Miss marvel will cost $15m each per episode.

We will be having series that look like movies very soon on all streaming platforms as the war intensifies.

I have a feeling that with this WB/DC will increase budget for HBOmax and will likely revamp swamp thing.

Let the war begin!!!
Saw the news weeks ago, what I will say is that Disney is going to regret overspending on their TV show

Yeah.

That guy career is finished if this information is true.

Even Johnny Depp is still feelin the heat despite WB help.
That's bad and besides Disney don't always let their MCU actors act different movies in their own studios unlike WB. Hopes he recovers

Just saw this in my mention. How is Iron man not iconic?
He wasn't a pop culture icon like Sherlock Holmes before the MCU, so he wasn't and will never be as iconic as Holmes

Take note that Disney has reportedly dropped Jeremy Renner aka Hawkeye actor as Hawkeye from the coming series.

**That guy career has come to an end just like that.**

Unfortunately, WB can't save him like they did Johnny Depp and James Gunn.
Was it because of his marital scandal?

if marketing is 35mil, then surely the producti0n budget is 30mil or 35mil.
Where in the world has production budget and marketing budget be the same. You do know that the marketing budget for any movie is about 60-69% of the production budget right?

And also the production budget had never been in question here, it is wildly known to be $55m na. Did you see how the cinematography looked like? That thing costs money, the you see how hyper realistic the violence were even when it had little violence in it compared to John Wick? Those things are going into production cost, then you talk about actors pay, set costumes etc. Some of the appliances used are out of production and they will have to pay company to make one for them.

You know what, just google how much WB spent in marketing joker movie and stop using Wikipedia please.
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Blackspider: 7:35am On Oct 22, 2019
Minemrys:
i d0n't see the marketing that takes the budget to 90mil. H0nestly.
The marketing was $35m, that is the lowest marketing ever for a CBM(modern era). Gemini man had a marketing of $100m but that movie looked like it wasn't even marketed at all. Maleficent marketing is $120m but that movie also looked like something with light marketing. Spiderman homecoming marketing $150m.

Joker had just $35m, that money is very low and the controversies surrounding the movie helped overshadowed Gemini man with more marketing budget.

bros, this one no be new thing na. M0st shows we watch, films have invest0rs na. Are u guys just figuring it out? The studio distributes and s0metimes the producti0n c0mpanies finance. No be today na. All films are like that. Or why do u think they do product placements? That's subliminal advertising na. Avengerz do it with t0ny stark's car, the drinks they take, the shoes, the clothes they wear in s0me cases i.e the ones that display the brand name, they are adverts for the c0mpany investing in the film. Even justice league with bruce wayne's car. Or do we think it's only disney that funds marvel films?
Thanks, that was exactly my point of view

If only they had a little faith in the fans, they would have taken it all
I updated my post now

They had faith in the movie, just that they were considering many variables like the DCEU, what the movie might portray and then the Aurora incident.

WB is known to take on risky projects most of the time

Even if the Joker earn $1b, WB won't be the only one to enjoy the profit because they were too scared to finance the budget alone
WB is earning about 65-70% of the box office gross though.

Also, it is not like WB was afraid to fund joker, they just gave Christopher Nolan $225 for an original movie. They were afraid of making a joker movie, Todd Philips had to convince WB to let him do the movie for one a year and when WB decided to give in on his pleas, other smaller production company decided to invest in the movie because they know what joker can do. They did the same thing last year with a star is born.

Unlike other movie studios, WB is willing to share their own IP with other production company and even movie studios that are interested. They did it with TMNT to Paramount. What matters is that the IP is their and they are the company that will distribute it worldwide. They only share the gross with other companies that decided to invest with them(sportsmanship).
