First and foremost, Tolkein didn't invent the concept, he merely borrowed from it. As such, elves can be whatever color writers want them to be.

Dark elves in Norse mythology have black skin. In some translation, they are called black elves.

I don't mind seeing white people shit on TRoP on twitter because of the diverse cast but it's embarrassing and damning to come online and see some black people shit on the show for the same reason.

People like you have come to believe wholeheartedly whatever western media feeds you to the extent that you believe that black characters don't belong in medieval fantasies. It's sad to see.

On The Rings of Power, who else thinks they're doing too much with casting people of colour on the show?

Before anyone comes for me and accuses me of being a self-hating black man, try to pause for a minute and understand.

I totally get how casting black actors can be a noble idea considering how racially sensitive the world has become, but when it becomes too much, too unnecessary in some circumstances, and above all TOO obvious, then it starts to look forced & deliberate.

I will try not to make comparisons, but HOTD has done a better job at colour-casting than TROP has done, and it's for this one very obvious reason — HOTD did it without making it look forced.

TROP has us looking at black Elves (really? I thought Elves are known to have pale-skin with distinct colour of eyes), then there are black Dwarves (perhaps this could be overlooked), black Harfoots (not quite sure the purpose of having actors of colour included here).

Even with those characters they called Travellers/Hunters who had less than 2mins of screen time, they still managed to make one of them black.

Indeed it feels too deliberate, too forced... and honestly, once I start seeing that, then the novelty of it wears off and it starts to look patronizing.

Other than that, a good show overall... I am enjoying/will enjoy both HOTD and TROP to the fullest.

Lol, the show is basically copy and paste of Lord of the rings, only that it's now more female centric and lots of black faces (which I ain't mad about tho), we got female frodo and samwise with their gandalf the stranger( like we ain't stupid Amazon! of course we know that's gandalf), then theirs female aragorn also known as galadriel, also another forbidden romance between elve and a human, I keep looking for the reason why $60 million was spent for one episode, cos the CGI ain't doing it for me, the fight scenes are meh! look at the way galadriel fought that monster, happened so fast! like show the money worth this episode na! critics seem to love the show tho, so maybe na me no sabi better thing, abeg I will stick to my GOT prequel show... I will watch rings of power when it's all out..

Galadriel is not a rip off of Aragon. Infact she was one of the main in LOTR trilogy. Played by the same person who played Hela in the MCU (blanking on the name). And she is stronger than gandalf before you start another round of complains

Finally i got to watch episode 9 and 10.
It will be so unfair to episode 1 to 6 if i combined episode 7 to 10 and rate them together so i am going to be doing what I've never done before, i will give separate ratings.

The Sandman episode 1 to 6 is 10/10 for me.

The Sandman episode 7 to 10 is 2/10 for me.

Sometimes this is why i love HBO and Amazon, there is a way they would have done this series and it would have or nearly have the same publicity the game of thrones or the Lord of the rings had.
The earlier episodes of the series had so much potential that what we saw is something we don't see often on television series.

I was thinking we were going to see something like the Great wars and battles like in the game of thrones or legend of the seeker or even wars like the wars in the lords of the rings.

Wars between realms.
Wars between Lucifer and her armies and morphuis with his armies.
Like a very bloody and great war.

Wars that will even affect earth.
The series even lacked melodious soundtracks and instead of them giving us soul touching songs like the songs they sang in the game of thrones or the songs they sang in the wheel of time or even in Vikings.

You know those ancient old songs that tells a story.

They gave us woke nonsense boring annoying music and dance.

( Na thunder go fire the writers)

Perhaps they didn't have the budget to pull that through but then if they had followed my part, HBO or Amazon would have jumped on it.

Anyways it's over now.

Yep, HBOMax has John in lock and key. Etrigan the Demon was also refused to be used in the show. Etrigan would have been the one taking Morpheus to Lucifer.

I'm hearing John Constantine series is progressing as well as Zatanna movie.

Yep... So far it is mostly comic accurate. Tho some light changes like the Gargoyle being sacrificed, it was a text or book with Dreams signature I think. And the battle at hell was between the demon Choronzon and Morpheus.
Lucifer would defeat Dream in a game of wits but it's all good. Also it was Etrigan the Demon that welcomed Dream into hell when Flatterbloat refused him passage and trolling. Etrigan clearly led him to NADA.
It was actually 72 years of imprisonment Dream was with the Burgesses and not the over a century narrative.

So far the few changes were made for progression of the story. Comic readers have little to complain about.

I am not too keen on changing John Constantine for Johanna but I understand cos of WBs refusal to release the Chainsmoker. Jenna Coleman was perfect in that role and played the character really well. Nothing to complain of.

So far, it's peak TV.
