Business / Re: Buying Airtime & Data At Low Amounts And Bill Payment Is Available At Telenaija by blakbishop(m): 7:52am On May 01
After exploring numerous payment platforms for purchasing data and settling utility bills like electricity and Cable TV, I've experimented with various options but have yet to find one that truly satisfies me. However, lately, I've been utilizing a platform called TELENAIJA.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the swift delivery and high level of customer satisfaction provided by www.telenaija.com.ng. The service they offer is truly top-notch, and I intend to delve deeper into my experiences with them.

Now, you might be wondering, is TELENAIJA a scam? Well, I'll leave you with that question to ponder. But before you come to any conclusions, allow me to highlight a few reasons why I am inclined to continue using this platform:

Competitive Data Prices: Different vendors offer data at varying prices. For instance, while some vendors sell 1GB of MTN data for N300, TELENAIJA offers it for as low as N259 PER 1GB.

Instant Product Delivery: Whether it's data or bill payments, I've found that transactions on TELENAIJA are incredibly swift and hassle-free, with no significant delays unless there's an unforeseen issue, which they promptly communicate about.

Efficient Refund System: In a country like Nigeria, network issues leading to failed transactions are not uncommon. What sets TELENAIJA apart is their 12-hour refund policy. I've experienced this firsthand; even without contacting support, my refunds were processed within the stipulated time frame.

Responsive Customer Support: Though I haven't had many reasons to contact customer support, the few times I did, I was impressed by their prompt and effective assistance in resolving any issues I encountered.

When it comes to online transactions and payments, not all platforms can be trusted equally. It's crucial to ensure reliability before entrusting them with your financial transactions.

Key Features of TELENAIJA That Intrigue Me:

In addition to my positive experiences with WWW.TELENAIJA.COM.NG, there are specific features within the app that I find particularly appealing:

Free Deposits: You can add funds to your TELENAIJA wallet without incurring any charges. This convenience is greatly appreciated.
Three Free Transfers Monthly: Say goodbye to pesky transfer fees! With TELENAIJA, you can send money to your loved ones up to three times a month without worrying about additional charges.
One standout aspect of this platform is the remarkable speed of transactions, making money transfers a breeze.

If you're intrigued by the features I've mentioned, you can experience the convenience of TELENAIJA by downloading the app or signing up on www.telenaija.com.ng today.

Politics / 11 Ways To Avoid SARS/POLICE Brutality In Nigeria by blakbishop(m): 6:28pm On Oct 16, 2020
Young Nigerians have been protesting against the SARS/police brutality going on in its country.

SARS is a special Police unit, set up for anti-robbery interventions. It was set up to protect its citizens from the heinous acts of armed robbers. Over the time, the SARS unit turned into something incomprehensible and gradually became another menace to the society.

Protests have erupted and there is a certain and urgent need to curb the activities of the SARS unit and also reform the Police in general.

Young people are being harassed for no just causes. They are being arrested over stereotypical assertions about looks. Majorly, but not limited to the use of expensive gadgets, driving of flashy cars, use of quality jewelries.

While we acknowledge that there are still some good eggs in the SARS unit , there are even greater bad eggs breaching the people’s trust in the Nigerian Police.

There is a pressing need to reform the police or completely overhaul the Tactical Unit.

What is SARS ?

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is a Nigerian Police Force unit under the Force, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police. SARS has come under recent controversy for being linked to acts of extortion, torture, framing and blackmail since 2012.

There has been national and international condemnation over the activities of the unit which has drawn a repulsive attention from all and sundry.

11 ways to avoid SARS/brutality in Nigeria

While we await a reform or a possible dissolution of this unit, here are 11 measures to implement so as to avoid falling victim to their inhumane acts.

1. Have a valid means of identification.
It is important that you carry a valid identification card with you wherever you go.

This gives an unrallied impression to these officers that the person they are talking to can be identified.

It is either they ask you to provide your ID card first or you let them know you want to provide it.

Be careful to inform them you want to bring out a valid means of identification so they won’t think you want to harm them.

2. Always make your location known.
In order to curb the excesses of some unscrupulous members of the police force, it is important you let your family or friends know where you are at all times.

For instance, if you are approaching a checkpoint and you’re with a friend and you get in an argument with the police/SARS, tell your friends to alert your family via text or through calls.

If you don’t have a friend with you, alert passers-by, especially when things are seemingly getting violent between you and the officers.

3. Know your Rights, but avoid heated arguments.
It is imperative to state that as a citizen of Nigeria, there are fundamental rights endowed to you, always be conscious of this.

When you’re being accosted by police/SARS operatives, let them know you know your rights in a polite manner. Do not get into an argument with them as this might lead to more conflicts.

4. Avoid late nights.
Because of the state of security in the country, it is advisable to always avoid late nights. You might be mistaken for a criminal and indiscriminately shot by the authorities who are usually security conscious at times like this.

5. Stop when you are asked to stop.
You should know that law enforcers have the right to ask you to stop, so if you don’t have something to hide, stop when you’re being asked to stop at checkpoints. If you decide to run, you will be mistaken for a criminal and get yourself shot.

6. Be Polite.
Be polite to law enforcement agencies even if they try to escalate issues, still be polite. It is better than to eventually end up shot or killed wrongly by trigger happy officers.

7. Dress normal.
I know, this should not be there, but in our country, some of the police/SARS officials, view people that wear dreads and tattoos as criminals.

In order to avoid such harassment, it is better you dress in a decent way so you will not be profiled to the likings of a criminal

8. Move out of the way when you hear the police siren.
The Nigerian police use the siren to quickly get out of traffic on Nigerian roads or to make way for them when they are transporting money.

So when they are on their sirens and you don’t move out of the way, they automatically see you as a threat and shoot at your car or brutalize you

9. Don’t flaunt your riches.
You might agree with me, that some of these police officers do not want to see a young man who is well-to-do or who is richer than them in a way.

You might not even be necessarily rich, but because you appear rich, you’ll will be profiled to be harassed, brutalized and extorted.

Be modest on social media and real life, so as to avoid lurking eyes from either police/SARS or criminals.

10. Have a lawyer.
If you eventually get arrested, you might probably need a lawyer and a good one at that.

But if you can’t afford to hire a full-time lawyer, try to befriend one or reunite with your old school mate who is now a lawyer.

Save his contact on your phone as “My Lawyer” or “Barrister”.

If SARS operatives arrest you illegally and find out that you have a lawyer’s contact, they’ll think twice before brutalizing you.

When the arrest is illegal, note that every other thing that follows will equally be illegal.

Expect them to seize your phone and look through it to find something to incriminate you.

They have no rights to search your phones but if you drag this with them when there is no backup, you’re endangering your life.

Be calm and find a means to get out first and get back to them in full force.

11. Enlist into the armed forces or become influential in the society.
Might seem controversial, but this is another solid way to avoid police brutality in Nigeria,

The Police/SARS have respect for the armed forces and accords them respect.

Same goes for influential people, they’re well known and are hardly ever harassed.

After following these steps, it is important to know that you might probably still be harassed or brutalized, it is very unfortunate but it can happen. Until they reform the Police can things start to get better?

Other steps include:

Education / How To Prepare For Post-ume 2020 During This Pandemic by blakbishop(m): 3:02pm On Sep 26, 2020
Trying to prepare for post-utme? Well, Corona Virus, a pandemic has spread its lethal arms to many parts of the world including, Nigeria. It found its way here through an Italian man before letting loose its minions to the rest of the country. Everything had to be closed up. From companies to hotels, churches, markets and schools followed suit. Without schools in session, exams won’t be conducted, no one would be promoted. Without promotions, everyone would remain static at the same level. So, you have to prepare for post-ume using these guidelines

JAMB was written some months ago and now preparation for POST-UTME is in full SWING.
While some may find preparing for very important exams at home a very easy and convenient thing to do, others may not. The big question now for those who find it difficult preparing for challenging exams at home is; how do I prepare for this exam while I’m at home. How do I prepare for POST-UTME while Covid-19 remains in full swing?

It is better to make hay while the sun still shines. Making hay in this case involves taking all the necessary steps that would aid in preparation.

Literature / Segregation, Tribalism, Racism In Nigeria - By Ndibe David by blakbishop(m): 2:54pm On Sep 26, 2020

Humanity has a long way to go when it comes to treating our fellow men, Racism has been a constant disease we have battled as humans.

I see no reason why a person would be judged by the color of their skin and not by the content of their heart.

The Bible made us understand that God created everyone in His own Image and Likeness. If we had this registered in our minds, we would not have the cause to racially profile anybody.

According to Britannica, racism (also called Racialism), is the belief that humans may be divided into separate and exclusive biological entities called races. We can trace racism back to the era of slave trade – you can not really separate both incidences.

Systematized racial oppression first arose in the 1600s when European traders discovered that their superior technology gave them a tremendous advantage in Africa, including their sailing ships and firearms. Then they began to plunder Africa’s wealth and take slaves. So many Europeans grew up with the mentality that blacks are inferior to them – a sickening mindset.

Blacks over the years have suffered for just being black. We can look at the case of George Junius Stinney Jr., who was wrongly accused and sentenced to death because he was black.

How do we justify a 14 year old being ‘murdered’ by an all white jury because he was suspected to have killed two girls? He wasn’t even given a fair trial.

How do we explain that a murder trial lasted only 2 hours? A re-examination of the Stinney’s case began in 2004, and several individuals and Northeastern University School of Law sought a judicial review. His conviction was overturned in 2014. This was 70 years after his execution.

A court had ruled that he did not receive a fair trial, a young boy’s life was ended just like that. I can list so many cases of judicial injustice against blacks, not to talk of what goes on outside the judicial system. Do we talk about the killing of blacks like George Floyd? We can go on and on but the fact remains that racism has eaten deep into the fibers of our society.

If you read up the ‘History of Racism’ and see the injustice being meted out to a race, you would ask yourself, who is evil? The oppressor? Or the oppressed – who the oppressor claims to be a threat? Trust me, no article can conveniently accommodate all the atrocities done and still directed at the black race.

Racial discrimination would have been bearable if they just did it only in talks, but blacks over the years have been maimed, killed and marginalized for just being black. We can start looking at instances in history where blacks were treated as animals because of their skin color.

Chief of which is the slave trade, according to Wikipedia. The Atlantic slave trade, Transatlantic slave trade, or Euro-American slave trade involved the transportation by slave traders of enslaved African people, mainly to the Americans.

The Portuguese were the first set of people to start slave trade in the 16th century. In 1562, they transported the first set of slaves to Brazil. Slave trade was a booming “business” for the whites, and our fathers were subjected to inhumane treatments. The journey to freedom started under the leadership of Thomas Jefferson, and the new state of Virginia in 1778 became the first state and one of the first jurisdictions anywhere to stop the importation of slaves (Wikipedia). Denmark was equally the first country to abolish the slave trade. As it looks, slave trade might have ended but one may ask if we are truly free.

While we as blacks are battling racism in America and Europe, it is still painful to see fellow Africans segregating each other. Xenophobia in South Africa is not something new. Reading through the history of Liberia, you would find out that oppression in Liberia was started by slaves released in Europe who came back to oppress those in Liberia. South Africa has a history of segregation. Apartheid was a big problem in South Africa, when the whites segregated themselves and even made laws to favour themselves in our motherland Africa.

One principal question is; if they hate us that much, why did they come to our land in the first place?
It is quite disheartening to see liberated South Africans kill their fellow African brothers. Brothers that fought with them against apartheid and brought the desired freedom.

We all say black lives matter, or does it only matter when it is a white man Killing us? There is something I noticed throughout history; humans do not like oppression if they are the ones being oppressed. As long as they are the oppressors, it is acceptable. While Nigerians are battling with racism in America, Xenophobia in South Africa, we still suffer tribalism in our own lands. I rather not delve into Nigerian police brutality here, it would require a separate piece.

The way forward in putting an end to racism and discrimination is re-orientation and stringent punishment for offenders of the racially oppressed. The football world is trying its best to curtail such in sports – we’ve had various incidents of such abuses and punishment meted out to offenders.

For Xenophobia, the Nigerian Government needs to start protecting its citizens home and abroad. Our Government is weak, and other countries are taking advantage of it to subject us to suffering.

End Racism
End Xenophobia
End Tribalism
We are all humans.

Health / Do Pink Lips Balm Really Work? by blakbishop(m): 2:00pm On Sep 26, 2020
INTRODUCTION
The three most sought after questions are; what really brightens my lip color? why is my lip balm not giving me the expectant result, does Pink Lips balm Really work. Virtually everyone wants to attain the soft succulent nature for their lips. This is because the lips is one of the most striking parts of an individual’s face. The lips is the organ of articulation and feeding which are important functions of human survival. Hence, the need to achieve that attractiveness has pushed a lot of people into paying heavily for products that claim to lighten the lips of the skin.

ANATOMY OF THE SKIN OF THE LIPS

First is to really understand the lips as a structure of the human body, it’s gross anatomy and the basic histological features.

The human lips is an erogenous organ. There are several sensory nerve endings present, which account for its very sensitive nature.

Layers: About six to seven layers line the skin of the lips. The rest of the face which has about sixteen cell layers.

Colour: Light skinned people tend to have lighter lip colours than the dark skinned. The difference in colours is as a result of the colouring skin pigment called melanin. Melanin is produced by cells known as Melanocytes. Melanocytes are located in the base of the epidermis and they work to absorb light energy.

This absorption is important for the protection of deeper cells of the skin from damaging effects of the ultra violet rays. Individuals of different races have similar melanocyte number but the variation therein, is the differences in the melanin colour which ranges from yellow to black.

Factors affecting lip colour
The thin cell layer on the skin of the lips, together with the melanin of an individual contributes to the nature of the person’s lips. These two factors make the rich blood vessels of the lips visible as a red or pink. The lip is like a transitioning from the distinct face structure to the mucous covering of the oral cavity. There are no sweat glands in the skin of the lips. This is the reason it chaps out easily due to poor moisture. As it chaps out, new growth happens. These growths determine the lip colour at various times.

The role of balms

To answer the question : Does pink lips balm really work? What balms do is to moisturize the lips and prevent the formation of chaps and flakes of dead skin. These flakes give the lips an uneven appearance. Lip moisturizers include lip gloss, jellies and oils. They work to protect the skin of the lips from drying out and flaking out. Balms work by maintaining the healthy replacement of worn out cells.

Pink lip balms

They are special balms produced for the sake of helping an individual attain a natural pink lip colour without colourants like lipsticks. All over the world, various skin care companies have manufactured different products that tend to give us the perfect lip look. These are products ranging from healthy and mild to harsh and harmful.

Some of the natural and artificial constituents employed in producing these pink lip balms are:Carotene, food coloring, organic face creams, petroleum jelly – the common Vaseline. Beetroot – a fruit, glycerin, aloe Vera, olive oil, sugar, honey, lime. Source: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-999/beta-carotene

They may seem harmless and skin compatible but can be harmful for particular parts of the body. The lip anatomy discussed above has shown us the delicate nature of the skin.

It doesn’t cost so much to damage the lips with a single product due to misinformation. Greater focus on maintaining a moisturized lips rather than introducing unsafe products to the lips.

Conclusion
In conclusion, what some pink lips balms do is to exfoliate the worn out skins on your lips and draw you nearer to the vascular layer where the blood vessels lie.

On the other hand, some other pink lips products gives you a temporal coverage (as evident in the artificial food colourings used in production) for a while and gives you no improvement except you have them on.

Business / How Much Does God Is Good Logistics (GIGL) Company Charge to deliver a Parcel. by blakbishop(m): 5:35pm On Aug 21, 2020
God is Good logistics (GIGL) is a subsidiary company of God is Good motors. The company, God is Good Motors was founded in 1998 by the enterprising couple Edwin and Stella Ajaere in 1998 with a vision to provide premium bus services across Nigerian cities. Their son, Chidi Ajaere, took over administration of the company which led to a reinvention of the business in 2010. Chidi Ajaere was 3 years into running GIGM, the passenger transport company he took over from his late father, when he noticed a consequential gap and came up with the company God is Good logistics.

POR: Techpoint

Introduction
After scouring the internet for so many answers, I was not able to conclusively come up with any viable results. So I took a visit to one of their terminals, to find out the answer on how much God is Good Logistics Company Charge to deliver parcels

NOTE: I am talking only about my experience on one terminal. I obviously haven’t been to all their terminals. Probably with time, I would.

While determining the price of their charge could prove difficult as anyone knows, shipping rates might vary depending on location and other factors. So predicting your next costs to deliver a parcel might prove herculean. However, one can calculate the rough estimate of these charges by weighing certain factors.

First, let us consider these factors;
Understanding the basics of logistics could adversely affect how much you spend on your next parcel delivery cost. Here are some of the factors that affect price determinants in your logistic company;

Service levels
Shipment weight, shape, and size (dims)
Zonality

SERVICE LEVELES

According to Freightcowboy, service level refers to how quickly your package will ship and how much extra service or care you’re paying for. Depending on how important your shipment is, this charge could increase pretty quickly. Pay attention to how much priority shipping will cost you! It may not always be worth it, in many cases, the ground network can get to your inner zone almost as quickly. You should also be aware that the carriers can entice you with large discounts on service levels you don’t really use that often and sometimes your lowest discounts are in the service levels you use the most.

SHIPMENT WEIGHT, SHAPE, AND SIZE

Weight is a standard consideration for shipping cost calculation. However, don’t forget that the size and shape of your package will influence your final cost as well! The bigger or more oddly shaped your shipment is, the fewer orders can be packed near it, and the less money the shipping service stands to make. Thus, you’ll often end up paying more.

LOCATION

Unfortunately, you’ll likely never come across a flat rate for shipping packages among Logistics Company in Nigeria. Though the exact borders may vary, most shipping services divide the country into zones. Your starting zone and the package’s destination will both factor into the ultimate price you’ll pay.

Determinant
These are the three major determinants in deciding how much you might be asked to pay when you are about to use a logisitics company.

In the terms of God is Good Logistics(GIGL) I am pretty sure that considering all these factors, that you might be charged between #50 to #80 per kg, if you are sending a parcel from Lagos to any part of the South Eastern states.

So let’s say you want to deliver a package weighing 100kg, you might probably be charged within the range of #5000 to #8000 or more. This analysis was done based on my observations and opinions and not through some statistical data collection analysis.

Education / Desperate Times Comes For Being Diplomatic..i Need Advice by blakbishop(m): 9:22pm On May 10, 2016
I am new on nairaland , though I am
an active guest.. I decided to log in today
because something awkward just happened
to me and I need to look for the most diplomatic way to lay off this thing..
Okay , it all started on my way back from lectures with the intention of buying just a stick sweet (#20) and pure water (#30). When I saw a girl which I knew from my church (at that instant I thought should I run because I knew something would leave from my pocket ) but being a Man and noticing that she has already seen me. So I went to the shop and we exchange greetings , then she started whining me so that I could get her *something* though I knew these was bound to happen , I pretended like I was surprised and in less than 30 seconds ..I had bought bread (#70) and Viju milk(#120) for the young lady ..and after that I knew I had made a mistake because I knew she would come back for more (oliver twist).

Two days passes and I came to visit someone in her lodge , when she saw me and started shouting like someone who won a lottery ..I told ppl to tell her I was not there
but they weren't coded..and exposed me.
Then my greatest fears came to past , she told me to carry her to a restaurant , and at that point I knew I made a very idiotic mistake of not being diplomatic and refused the first time she told me to get her something..
So my question is what should I do know that she asked me to take her out , and I am just a student still feeding on monthly allowance.. I want to be diplomatic ..I do want to get her anything and I don't want it to feel as if I am a brokeass nigga..
