You are wrong and correct at the same time

clan/tribe are similar but not interchangeable in all situations

both are completely INAPPROPRIATE for use describing the ethnic groups in Nigeria

There is no such thing as the igbo clan, or igbo tribe. Finish.
Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 1:02pm On Nov 21, 2010
@jmaine

Using gas does not mean you should not use nuclear. It is not either-or. You can use the gas NOW, then use the nuclear later.

gas:

pros:
readily available
currently being wasted
use of gas will reduce environmental damage due to gas flaring

cons:
still damages the environment even when used properly
total reserves are not known: finite supply
lower efficiency during conversion than nuclear.

Nuclear

pros:
Most efficient, cleanest power source currently known to mankind
almost limitless reserves of power

cons:
high tech, with low local skillbase
high cost to conform with international safety guidelines

As for your questions on storage of nuclear waste I told you to go and google. You obviously did not do this. Disposal of nuclear waste is an international issue, you cannot go live on a nuclear plant until you fulfil all regulations. As Kengali said, the powers that be will NOT allow you to keep your nuclear waste because you could create weapons that way. So dont worry! The world has that covered.

Really, people. I dont see why you are still arguing. If Nigeria wants to make progress, let her, and save yourself from this colonial mentality of 'we are all stupid monkeys and can never do anything right'. Really, people! Hopefully the next generation is free from this ridiculous inferiority complex.

WORD!

@kabukabu50, mehn,  that pictured girl in your post, well what can I say except, she is so damn sizzling hotttTTTT,  me likey, likey very much grin grin

@Topic, give me a tall Lepa anytime.

Give me a short skinny lepa with 'baby hourglass' (tiny assets, but visibly THERE) so at least I know when she starts to chop up she will add in the right places!

shorter = better for me. I dont know why. I just like short women! So, cute. Cuddly. Toy-like. Adorable :-)

no real skin colour preference. Just need the skin to be reasonably uniform and clear. cant stand nasty spots and blemishes. For this reason darker girls tend to appeal more to me (blemishes are harder to see!) but a fair girl still has a chance if and only if her skin is pure cream alllll over! (so easy to fail this one, )

LOL in the end of course once she opens her mouth, the score can get a +99% or -99% depending on what I hear so dont be surprised if I end up marrying a tall orobo with leopard skin and flat assets but a perfect personality, it only takes a few smoking hot *IDIOT DRAMA QUEENS* to show a man where the real treasure lies,
Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 4:10pm On Nov 20, 2010
@Kengali

Your position is clearer and less incendiary now. If you have concerns about losses due to regulations and so forth, in the end the gains will offset those to a large extent. We can't reap the full benefits of Nuclear power, ever, because of the international situation, but when all is said and done it remains cost effective even if we are not allowed to use our own uranium.

I'm just saying dont be negative. If there are problems, dont let them block our adoption of the technology. Just let them be highlighted as stumbling blocks we must avoid. Thats the only way we can make progress! Dont run from danger, run towards opportunity.

@Jmaine

1) expantiating on the boldened part: read this page:

http://www.naturalgas.org/environment/naturalgas.asp

The page is actually pro-natural gas, arguing that it has the lowest carbon footprint of fossil fuels, thus demonstrating that it does indeed contribute to the greenhouse effect and other dangerous emissions. Consider that the primary component of natural gas duel, methane, is itself the principal greenhouse gas. I wont argue that that in itself leads to pollution (that is as senseless as arguing that nuclear power leads to radiation pollution) but it should make the bone of contention a moot point

2) When people run out of ideas they resort to insults

The only insulting quote i made is:

"beef on this forum is all these idiots saying Nigeria should not go for the best because 'we are rubbish people who cannot maintain anything'. Talk about self-loathing."

And i stand by that. If you believe that we are rubbish people who cannot maintain anything then you, sir, are an Idiota. With a capital, bold and italic on the I. Hence, Idiot

3) Is nuclear waste cleaner?

Cleaner than what? You wan take am baff? Take time o. Dont be asking questions like dis. Trying to derail the conversation into off-points. Go and read up on nuclear waste disposal procedures and standards.
Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 1:14pm On Nov 20, 2010
@malabite

Despite all you have said, Nuclear *is* the cleanest energy source.

coal, hydro, gas, all are dangerous to the environment. Solar, wind: in several years no-one has figured out how to reliably and efficiently generate energy from these sources. Biomass is cutting edge.

Look, Nuclear is the most efficient and cleanest energy source available. THAT is a FACT that cannot be distorted. The alternatives exist, but Nuclear is the BEST way to generate energy that we have today, period.

The beef on this forum is all these idiots saying Nigeria should not go for the best because 'we are rubbish people who cannot maintain anything'. Talk about self-loathing.

I said I would support gas in the short term, but it is DANGEROUS TO THE ENVIRONMENT EVEN WHEN USED PROPERLY. The chance of a leakage accident with a nuclear plant is low compared to the certainty of what you get from GAS.
Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 9:48am On Nov 20, 2010
To those who say we should focus on the gas

Well you are correct: we are wasting a valuable resource. This is true.

For Nigeria, gas will surely be cheaper. And quicker to bring to fruition. I would support a gas project being given a higher priority

HOWEVER IN THE LONG TERM generating power from natural gas destroys the environment. You CANNOT attain first world status without the unbelievable efficiency and environment-friendliness of Nuclear. Even if the project takes 15 years to complete, let it begin.

saying we should not do it because you think Nigerians will leak radiation on themselves is just prejudiced and unproductive.
Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 9:44am On Nov 20, 2010
Wait.

Before we argue for too long,

@kengali and his minions.

So what you are saying is that Nigeria is too mediocre to do what is neccesary to pull it out of mediocrity? Doomed by default? Failed forever? Never ever ever to improve? Cursed by God after the flood maybe?

If that is what you are saying, then I'm sorry but whether you are right or wrong is irrelevant. You have decided that we are doomed to failure forever so you may as well not bother contributing to the discussion anymore

The rest of us who do care about progress can then discuss on how best to manage the risks and whether or not it is wise to get it fro the russians and so forth. But if you say we should NOT get it because your weak knees are shaking in your trousers at the mention of the word 'nuclear' then I m sorry but you are contributing NOTHING.
Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 12:15am On Nov 20, 2010
Stop being negative.

If you have identified process/operational problems, why cancel the entire project? We need cleaner energy than all this gas nonsense we are destroying the environment with.

If ur so scared, let the russians run it for us.

Are you just saying what you know or from experience? I bet nuclear experts from top organizations would disagree with this your found theory.

Its what I know. A simple 2-minute search on google provides some backup, without me going into too much detail.

A childhood friend of mine works in CSR in the UK, and he inspects and classifies nuclear reactors in Europe. We talk about renewable and nonrenewable energy all the time, informally. I did not study his major but we were close enough in school for me to have more than a tenuous grasp of the concepts.

Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 6:26pm On Nov 19, 2010
Those advocating cleaner greener energy, nuclear energy is the cleanest and most efficient energy source known to currently exist.

Those worried about a nuclear explosion should read up on nuclear fission and see how it actually works, and what the chances are that an explosive event will happen if you are not enriching your plutonium to weapons grade.

Those worried about radiation leakage/poisoning: Normally I would tell you your fears are unfounded, but based on recent trends in this country as per negligence, lack of maintenance, and the SAME negative attitude that causes Nigerians to come on here and talk as if they do not ever, ever want to progress in this world, I would say such fears are well founded, but still not enough to deny the benefits.

However Oil spills and oil leakages are just as bad if not worse. They happen more frequently and with devastating effects on both ecology, food chain, water table AND human health. People, dont be scared of the term 'nuclear'. A nuclear reactor and a nuclear bomb are so completely different its ridiculous. All they really have in common is they both exploit the phenomenon of nuclear fission.

Its like saying Nigerians should not be allowed to drive since a car carries toxic, flammable fuel around in a tank, with poisonous fumes should there be a leakage, and relies on the same principle for movement as the American FAE fuel air explosive, a weapon capable of wiping out the federal secretariat in one shot.
Business / Re: Russia To Construct Nigeria’s Nuclear Power Plants by blakmonsta: 2:08pm On Nov 19, 2010
@posters

Modern Nuclear reactors should not be prone to chernobyl type disasters. And if the worst should happen, the plant can be situated in a region far from civilisation. The entire settlement can be evacuated and quarantined if a disaster is seen approaching.

Clean cheap energy is what we need in this country. MEND bombing the place or whatever are just silly excuses. They may as well bomb Kainji dam. Detonating a bomb in a nuclear reactor will not set off a nuclear explosion in and of itself, nuclear explosions are not the same as normal explosive reactions.

Iran is sanctioned because they are using their reactor to build weapons. All we need to do is bow down to our American overlords and let them come and lock down/monitor/tax the place to hell and back, because the promise of clean energy is worth any humiliation we need to endure in order to get it.

or are you not tired of PHCN/NEPA cripling the economy?

This is the kind of campaign Akunyuli should champion, instead of railing against 'Naija'

She should draw up guidelines to be followed in primary and secondary schools, and in the creation of Common entrance exams, neco and waec to eradicate some of this colonial baggage. Pass this along to the ministry of education to execute, and save the next generation from the self-humiliation that we have been forced to engage in thanks to ill-advised colonial habits.

Tribes, indeed. what rubbish.

Also, children should be told over and over again that the legacy of slavery does NOT apply to continental Africans. The europeans never 'conquered' and 'enslaved' continental africa. I could go on forever angry

Chuks84:

I beg to disagree.
B will be the best anyday, anytime.

1. An attack and defense deficient lady will have problems delivering my child.

2. After birth, her previously negligible onions shrinks and becomes slippers.

3.  During pregnancy my plump chick actually grows bigger baloons. (Enough milk yay!)

4. After birth my plump chick becomes Ikebe super (who can resist that?)

Let me amend your 'fanciful dream list' and bring you back to reality.

1. She will have no problems. Fat on the chest and buttocks have nothing to do with childbirth. We did not discuss hips, my guy, and even ladies with narrow hips don't have too many problems, unless YOU happen to be a monstrosity yourself cheesy

2. This man. Lay off the ganja.

3. My friend. At a certain age and experience level, you learn to dread the moment "supports" are removed from certain parts of the female body above a certain size. I will say no more except look up the meaning of the word "Pendulous"

4. A quote from Ikebe super magazine back in the day "Two enormous mounds of lumpy amala". Not my words. Heed the wisdom of the great Wale Adenuga.
Politics / Re: Mods Please Ban The Use Of The Word ''Tribe'' On This Forum by blakmonsta: 3:16pm On Nov 18, 2010
I agree. 'Tribe' is a misleading word

Colonial baggage.

Ethnic groups in Nigeria can consist of more than 45 million people. 'Tribes' are small groups of primitive people living in a compound.

Some Ethnic groups are actually NOT ethnic, but rather political, such as the Yoruba who are constituted of several smaller nations, once united by a conquering Empire.

Many so-called 'Yorubas' have no Ethnic links to each other at all. They merely speak the same language. By this idiotic logic, we should be in the same 'Tribe' as the british, since we were once part of the British empire and now speak (some form of, ) English.

The term 'Ethnic group' is also unsatisfactory but will have to do in place of 'Tribe'.

By the way, no Nigerian textbook says 'tribe'. From primary school we have been taught the term 'Ethnic group'. Nigerians are just so easily brainwashed by western media. Afterall *they* invented the term 'tribalism'.

The guy didnt mention their personalities at all, so lets assume for the sake of argument that they both have excellent personalities and the choice is left down to the physical. Physical is important! It keeps a man's gaze under control (only helps, by the way. The man has to put in some effort too, )

@Topic

I would go for the skinny one ANY DAY, ANY TIME. Why? Simple. marry an African woman and the first thing she does is put on ten pounds. This means:

1) a  sex goddess becomes a Cute Plump Chick

2) a Cute Plump Chick becomes an Obese monstrosity

3) an Obese monstrosity becomes oooooh gbele oooooooh

4) a skinny bonga fish with no brakelight or bumper becomes a sex goddess!!!!

ishit4body sounds like a professional troll

1. she has a hot picture, so the men will ignore her filthy comments and drive traffic

2. she ignores intelligent comments and just focuses on those that are easy to shut down,  and she shuts them down with dirty language and insults in order to provoke reactions

3. she ignores the dating requests and lewd comments but does not discourage them. Her picture has not been taken down even though someone made it his signature

4. The picture is intelligently taken to hide her face (which looks pretty plain and unimpressive) and to emphasize her flat tummy,excellent bust and impressive height. Notice she has parallel hips, and probably a flat bakassi. You guys will probably not look at her twice in person, but she has skilfully trapped you with her picture!

In short, she is here just to fan the flames on the thread. Keep talking to her and you have become a mugu. There is no discussion here, its a spurious lawsuit and any mumu can see that. Its like a discussion on whether or not 2+2=4. some crackpot can claim that the mayans will arrive in 2012 to prove that it is 5, but anyone with half a brain will be long gone by then.
